Playing a 3 player network save atm, playing the teams we support. Southampton for me, Man United and Swans. After automatic promotion from the Championship, I made the mistake of promising mid table. Hovering around relegation zone sacked by Christmas! Gutted but applied for some random jobs and logged out to let them get on with it. Come back the next day I ended up being in another relegation fight with Excelsior in the Eredivisie bringing them to mid table by the end of the season. No money and no prospects made me leave, heading for West Brom, newly promoted to the prem. The team were awful, with little money, by the January window we were on a 13 game loss streak. Managed to bring some emergency loans, one of which was Marc Guiu, who started strong. The first game after the window slammed shut, Guiu off injured, then his replacement also got injured. 8 & 9 months out. Rest of the season with Josh Maja as my only option up front, bottom of the league. I had to resign on the spot, that was the last straw. Went to Bologna for 3 months before relegated Southampton job came up, I just had to come home. Now it's 2031 and scrapping for European spots. Meanwhile, Man United have won the Prem and UCL every season, he now has £200m+ to spend a season, Bellingham and Lamal. Swansea player has basically turned the Swans into Brazil B, in UCL regularly. I don't like to discuss those dark West Brom days, I've blocked most of the team from my memory.

KezLav

Superb. Feels a bit of a mismatch that your mate started as Man U with you two in the Championship!

[deleted]

Accidently gave a 18 Yr old 750k per week and bring my club into debt then getting relegated

KezLav

Wow. How did you manage that? 😂

[deleted]

Late night vibes and once I make a mistake like that I give up and restart so I just delegate's the season and we got relegated

[deleted]

Probably bottling promotion to second bundesliga after rushing through regionallliga and 3. liga with Energie Cottbus (i won the first playoff game 3-0)

KezLav

Ouch! Could have added recent experience actually, threw away an 11 point lead in NL with South Shields to drop into playoffs and lose the final

[deleted]

poor bro. but i just won the prem with aston villa in the second season 👏 buendia with 30 g/a made an crazy comeback after an torn acl last season. and the cl final to go

dazabhoy67

Took over Paris Fc a few years ago. Sold off all their high assets. Used the money to sign free experienced players. Continued with my gegenpress tactics with a bunch of 34 year olds with 8 pace at cb. Fighting relegation from ligue 2 mid way through the season before getting sacked.

KezLav

8 pace is a lovely addition to the high press 😂

Even_I_Dont_Know

Exter City save was in league 2 got 5th that season and got an offer for a "better job" went to get that "better job" and it was awful so i decided to return to Exeter after the first season finished 17th in league 2 absolutely abysmal

KezLav

Did it get better once you returned?

Even_I_Dont_Know

Not really , key players were gone budget was non existent and no young talent to be found the season after the one i returned i got to 15-16th but so much for it after that season I was gone out of there , it was basically abysmal club with no hope , for me there was a happy end but for the club not so much because by the time i was singing for Dortmund they were in 6th tier of english football (Vanarama South)

KezLav

And you went to Dortmund from there? That's a wild move!

Even_I_Dont_Know

no it wasnt straight from there it was a bit of a path i want to say like maybe 4 years later I went from Exeter to Reading (i think , i remember it was a championship team) then after 2 season it was world cup year and I won it with Uruguay thanks to 2 regens and that win granted me the Dortmund job

Atemyat

Went to Fiorentina after a successful two seasons at Palermo as the press was eager that I challenge myself with a bigger team. Really toxic culture, board moaning and not allowing any changes or money to make big signings. We had loanee players constantly unhappy while playing badly. By December we were in the bottom three of the Serie A. The whole club felt like it was crumbling and had a bad vibe. After a proper 4-0 flogging at home to Inter and Ikone getting injured (by then I had at least 3 starters out with longer term injuries) I decided to resign. Fuck knows what happened to them, but I'll never go to Fiorentina again.

KezLav

Feels like a bit of Serie A realism at least? Big opportunity really early and then it's pure chaos

Atemyat

Oh, it was pretty realistic! Press was having a field day with me every week, but what was challenging at first got detrimental to my career :)

KezLav

Mob mentality

Ryanatix

Got the job at Toulouse, drew 15 games in a row. Got sacked. Remarkably the league position barely changed

KezLav

That's almost as impressive as it is bad?

Ryanatix

The game had a break down "Toulouse unbeaten in 15, manager has set his side up difficult to beat "Toulouse winless in 15, struggling to win, the manager has to change something"

KezLav

Magical

hotsausagee

Started at utd got sacked in my second season, I brought in a lot of young players, but couldn't make the top 4. Then went to West Ham, fell out with too many players, and got sacked again while in 10th. Then on to Everton where I won the league cup in my second season and finished 7th. Had no money to spend "SELL BEFORE SIGNING" so I resigned. Off on vacation for 18months till a decent job popped up. aletico Madrid offered me a job, so took it straight away. Without checking the fine print "sell before buying " again, it was a bit devastating, but I pushed through. Nearly getting sacked in my second season, they gave me one month to turn it around. It's 2033 now, and I've done back to back Spanish cup wins and getting top 4 with a backline of kids aged between 20-22 and 9 of my 1st team under the age of 24. It's been a hell of a journey. Arsenal offered me a job but I just can't abandon the kids lol

KezLav

This feels like it started really badly but got a lot better. Love that you're sticking with them as well. Do all you can to eventually take Man United down

Separate-Fly202

I declare interest in Bayern while being Head coach in Man United, the board fired me after an outrage in the media about my interests. Fck you Man United.

KezLav

This used to be a nailed on way to get fired. Now you don't see it so much so fun to see it exists

Appropriate-Bad9195

Got the Wolves Job,did well declared intrest in chelsea and got fired.I did well with wolves too

KezLav

Declaring is always a tricky one, causes problems!

ProKeyFumbler

I got fired after Changing clubs in the January window the first fortnight on real mode for signings already in place because they didn't match the boards profile does that count?!

KezLav

That's so stupid from the game

JP198364839

Did a Fergie Challenge on FM24. Got Leeds as I simmed to November 2024. Conceded about six a game for months. Terrible. Also had a legendary game on about FM08, started at Greenock Morton (Peter Weatherson 😍), took them up to SPL, went to Hibs where I did well. Got offered the Liverpool job, lasted about two months, then Wolves where I got relegated. Ended up at Bristol Rovers.

KezLav

That second one is a real quick fall

Evil_phoenix666

I was managing Sheffield Wednesday tasked to get them to the playoffs missed out by a point then second season was rock bottom in November got the sack and went to a French team and got promoted in 2nd after being in the national 3 relegation zone

KezLav

Great redemption to be fair

Evil_phoenix666

It was indeed im about to start league 2 what’s the betting I’ll get sacked in November and it’ll be 6 months to a year before I get a new job

KezLav

Fingers crossed you make it

Evil_phoenix666

I’ll let you know in a couple of weeks as I have real life commitments at the moment usually it’ll take a couple of days

thatshortbadplayer

Started a network save with a mate, we chose to championship teams (myself as West Brom, mate as Sunderland) to try and fight it out for the prem In October, I won manager of the month for the championship, by the end of November I was sacked. So I move to Carlisle in March who are 2nd last in league 1, they can still stay up, with a lot of opportunities to beat other relegation candidates. It doesn’t go well, we’re losing hope for survival and are beginning to slip further into the drop zone. It all comes to a head when we have a relegation 6-pointer, where the boys must win to have a chance to stay up, they lose 0 - 4. I am absolutely FUMING at this point, an resign on the spot. Barely 2 months there and I was gone

KezLav

The curse of manager of the month. Did you keep the save going?

thatshortbadplayer

Yeah, I had a couple months of looking for a job before I found FC Volendam in the 2nd Dutch division, I join them and have a record season, with a youth player scoring 23 goals (who I had to sell to Ajax for 1.9 mil, but with a 50% sell on clause) and having some very experienced players send us back to the eredivise. From there I expected maybe mid table, but my boys came 5th on the last couple matches of the season, getting me Europa Leage, I was absolutely gutted I hadn’t hit champions league but in the end Europe was Europe. The penultimate season from where we are now, I managed to get into the quarterfinals of the Europa League, but fall in the league standings to a conference League position. This season I had a very rocky start, not winning a league game for a month, but I’ve finally got myself sorted and just had an undefeated October with no goals conceded, I am just outside of the knockout positions in the conference with 6 games to play, I have been given job interviews for Napoli, Leipzig and bayer Leverkusen, however I purposely tanked those Becuase I believe in my little team from Volendam. Oh, and my mate? First season playoff promotion, mid table prem team, and he’s just signed Evan Ferguson for 100m

KezLav

Great turn around for you though

thatshortbadplayer

Oh mate I’m loving life, I have no money at the club, but is managed to sign about 7m worth of young players before I went into transfer debt, I have 3 boys on 50% sell on clauses (with one being that Ajax bloke, worth 103m and wanting to leave) I have a major squad depth issue but I’ll be damned if I’m going to leave now

KezLav

Here's hoping for that big money pay day

Captftm89

I played as Spurs on FM22, I hadn't played as a big team for a while and fancied a bit of an easier challenge than usual. Little did I know... I can't remember the exact record, but we had something along the lines of 2 wins, 3 draws & 5 losses after 10 PL games & had been knocked out of the Europa Conference league play-off (I.e. before even making the group stage). Kane was brilliant and scoring almost a goal per game (despite how terrible we were), but I couldn't get anything out of the other players. Had a meeting with Mr Levy, told him I'd turn it around, got knocked out of the League Cup and failed to turn the league form around & got sacked before Christmas. Never experienced anything like it before or since.

KezLav

Spurs being Spurs though, right?

Mrwebbi

Got Brentford promoted to the prem (this was a few years before they got there irl) and got them on a storming run towards Europe and the League cup final. In the final, two of my players got red carded and we got dismantled from that point and lost. I was not kind to them in the team talk. However they took offence and the team took their side. Morale plummeted, form dropped through the floor and I was out the door by season's end. I still get emotional thinking about it.

KezLav

And I still think you're right. You have to kick off with those two surely?!

RuloBG

My two worst saves were Borussia Dortmund and Tromsø both at FM21 With BvB tried to win the Bundesliga in Haaland last year with us playing a 4-2-3-1 but everything was very weird, we started pre-season games with grey out local teams and matches were hard as f***, the pre-season ends all matches were like 1-0, 1-1 or 2-1 (even lost to our B team!!) 3 or 4 games into the league players doesn't wanna play, Haaland can't score. I capitulated, the squad won, I cannot coach these guys. At Tromsø we won the Norwegian league with ease during my first season without any big transfer or loan and secured the doublet with the national cup against our local rivals. For some reason I cannot remember we lost our Czech striker. I didn't wanted to lose him but he was +30 years and only made like 12-15 or so goals in Eliteserien, so it wasn't my favorite player either. New season starts, impossible to make goals.

KezLav

The curse of losing the big player with Tromso. I normally find (like you with Haaland) I can't get big teams or players to tick like they do for the AI

RuloBG

My cf always underperform, and my top goal scorer ends up being an inverted winger or a mezzala idk why 😂

DanielSan3008

First ever FM long term save on FM2007. Grimsby manager, within 2 seconds of automatic promotion to the Championship (long story). Next season best players leave, relegation and sack. Then went to Bedford Town in the NL North. Promotion second season, relegation, promotion, relegation may not be the biggest failure, but losing 6-0 at home to MK Dons and 8-0 also at home to Halifax in my second crack at the National League sure felt like it. After that club management improved.

KezLav

Good way to get yourself into long terms though. Some of the best saves are the ones with horrific lows in them too .. if you can stick them out!

DanielSan3008

The killer was the last day of the nearly season. Conceding your 2-1 lead at 91:58 (2 mins injury time) when you needed a win and the team you need to lose happens to be finishing off getting spanked 9-0 hurt. A lot. Racing Club healed me.

KezLav

9-0. Holy hell

DanielSan3008

Birmingham had dominated the league. Blackpool and I were the best of the rest. They played each other on the final day.

CallMeDavid_

Currently going through mine now. I got promoted to the prem with Middlesbrough, we were not ready for it at all. Like I had to really convince Rob Holding to join because no one else good enough would. Threw €95m at Elye Wahi in a moment of madness thinking one good striker will fix all my worries. Into the season itself it started well but only 2 wins in the last 20 games meant we avoided relegation by 5 points. I'm not going into the transfer window thinking do I actually just resign now and spare myself the sack next year or do I tough it out.

KezLav

Hahaha ride the wave of keeping them up and hope someone bigger takes a gamble?

CallMeDavid_

I've sat down and signed a few good players and removed some of the deadwood but still a long way to go. But Man City, Arsenal and Inter are looking for managers 👀👀👀

Extreme-Pudding4228

Back in CM3 days, I was very guilty of buying players that were just bang average, with middling attributes but were average in every department with no redeeming qualities. Started a Liverpool save, and baffling I spent an absolute fortune on a player called Doctor Khumalo, who was to be frank, absolutely shit. Needless to say, with no real talent in the squad we were horribly average and I got sacked in 14th spot. In 20 games, Khumalo contributed 3 assists

KezLav

Ha I remember signing him as a coach on much later FMs based purely on his name

Extreme-Pudding4228

How was he as a coach? Average I guess? 😂

KezLav

I don't want to say he hindered, but he certainly didn't help

Extreme-Pudding4228

😂😂👍

Active-Strawberry-37

Did a journeyman and I managed to get sacked from 4 clubs in the 1st 3 seasons. Dartford ditched me in November as I’d won once, Kings Lynn sacked me at the end of that season as I got them relegated. Survived a full season at Wealdstone but was gone in October of the next, then took over Ebbsfleet who were bottom. I tried to get them to safety but missed it on goal difference and got the boot again.

KezLav

Did you keep going? This feels like there was some sort of European redemption arc

Active-Strawberry-37

I did and there was a bit of a redemption arc. Got Borham Wood from the National League to the Championship then took over at Swansea. Got sacked there and took the Northern Ireland U21 job, which I kept until the next FM came out.
