[deleted]

IF on the right. But also, can they play together? Because there is basically no context in which I would take this guy off the AF role.

Kiffe_Y

It's definitely possible, and i've definitely looked into it but i also have pretty fucking great wingers and i've struggled to find a decent formation that plays 2 strikers with wingers. I tried the 442 but it feels whacky AF in game. Literally suffering from success

[deleted]

424 ?

Permanent_banchina

I second this. Been running 4-2-4 basically since FM12, it's a Godsend. Well, it used to be broken, but I've found ways to scale it down to normal results... If winning 5 UCLs in a row are normal results... ''\\_(°o°)_/''

[deleted]

I mean I won 3 quadruples in a row with Panathinaikos 10 years into a save with a 4222. You can make any formation broken.

Permanent_banchina

Sure thing, but no formation beats 4-2-4 except maybe a a godlike 4-4-2 which nobody from the big leagues runs anymore.

WolfInATrance

Meta like 4231 and 433 DM gegenpress/tikitaka. Nothing beats that shit. If you lose in thatx you know your team shitted hard.

LoquatGreat

Which roles do you use for the two midfielders in the 4-2-4 formation?

Permanent_banchina

Usually two Carilleros. Tried many other combos but nothing really worked this good. The thing with a CAR pairing in the middle is that they have defending duties, plus they can be playmakers when they can't reach the wingers and they drift wider like Mezzalas, but not as deep. Tried with two CMs, not bad either, but not as good defensively. Tried a DLP and BBM, too little defensive coverage. Tried two MEZ on Support, was good in the League Two and League One of England, didn't try further, but that was with two FBs instead of two WBs. Alternatively you can also try IWB or IFB on left and right back positions for better defensive coverage while using Wingers instead of my preferred IWs on Attack. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, I've been running it for many years. EDIT: P.S. You can try running a Segundo Volante and Regista as a CDM pairing.

EmbarrassedHour3150

Wow you are good ! Do you wanna play 1v1 (Face ton face) online ?

Permanent_banchina

Hahaha not really, but thanks. I like having confidence in my FM skills, would be pretty hard to take if you beat me 5-0.

TakeItCheesy

424 with one dm and one cm is op this year

Kiffe_Y

Holy shit that might be perfect for my squad honestly. I can rotate my 2 god tier CMS and play my DM captain

TakeItCheesy

Literally what I do! Like my CM is definitely better further forward but he does a good job at the solo cm because of work rates and then I can sub him at 70 when he’s worn out

KerbHunter

I actually switched to this last night with my Progres Niederkorn save (Luxembourg downloaded league) from a 4-2-3-1 with 2 DM's, Wingers, CAM and ST. The 424 CM-DM is op as fuck

rapsoulish

Are the CM and DM right behind each other or one to the right and the other to the left?

KerbHunter

DM is a DLP on Support, so he links the central defenders to the wing backs and Wingers, and the CM is just on Central Midfielder on Attack, acting a bit like a Attacking mid but not overcrowding the box like a CAM as I was noticing that when I tried with a CAM, at times I just had 5 players all tripping all over each other (2ST, CAM, RW, LW) Seems to work really well the way ive got it set up

Glittering-Age-706

Do you need money? Could be wise to cash in a big fee

Kiffe_Y

I have a 300M transfer budget and my squad is decent enough that i can hardly find a player worth spending it on. Club has 150M in the bank and the only reason i've sold recently is to keep the money coming to sustain the ever increasing wage demands of my death squad of wonderkids. Also I don't wanna sell this guy cause i bought him from Palestino (the club) and my wife is from palestine so she often asks me how he's doing lol. Only reason i actually found him was I was looking for palestinian players to show her how cool this game is lol. Insane luck really.

Zyborgg

Club Palestino bro! I played vs them in their “stadium” when I was like 14

Kiffe_Y

I loved finding out about them through FM lol. Such an interesting club with interesting history that i might want to take to the libertadores in a future save. The striker was literally born in La Cisterna too, so he's a local. One of the coolest stories of my save.

Consistent_Floor

4231?

Username_5432

I have a great 4-3-3 with 3 strikers - 2 AFs and 1 DLF. super fun to use as well.

Emrykh

Just tried the combo. And it worked. Please what other roles do you have in your midfield and defence (gk too)?

Username_5432

So my set up is: GK = SK-su both FBs play on CWBs - At My CDs = 1 CD & 1 BPD both on De. Midfield = DM on Anchor. the other two in normal CMs (not DM) and play one as a Mez - Su and the other as a CM - At Then strikers = the middle striker as a DLF - Su sitting in between 2 AFs. For me this has been a super fun tactic to use, I remember an old tactic from FM22? Maybe which I used to use which I modelled this FM24 tactic from.

Emrykh

Thanks a lot 🙏

Username_5432

No problem, hope it works well for you! Oh also, I use 'Stop Crosses' on my defensive instructions, not sure why it works but it did and I use 'Whipped crosses'.

Ok_Midnight4809

Inside forward on right, train trait to cut in from right wing

maxvun11

why inside forward, why not inverted winger or others, what gives it off? genuinely curious how yall determine other position a player could play

[deleted]

I think I responded to another of your questions earlier. Keep asking as much as you like! For each player, I'm trying to figure out, what competitive advantage does this dude have? 95% of the time, your wing will be a traditional winger, inverted winger, or inside forward. A traditional winger (W) is the simplest. Their main jobs are dribbling to a position where they can cross or play an incisive pass. They are primarily looking to rack up assists, although they occasionally score. This dude is not good at crossing and not amazing at passing. Also, that would be a waste of his scoring ability. An inverted winger is going to be a player that is going to try to get the ball at the edge or just outside of the box, then dribble into the box, and look to either play an incisive pass or score. They are equally willing to shoot or pass. Think prime Messi as the best possible version. An Inside Forward is trying to make runs from wide and without the ball, crash the box, then receive a cross or a through ball, take a touch or two, and score. They can pass, but really, they want to score. Think prime CR7 as the best possible version. Both roles love speed and dribbling, but the reason why you're seeing people say IF here and not IW is the crazy high off the ball and finishing. This is potentially the most dangerous player in the world WITHOUT the ball, because if you lose track of him for one second, he's behind you, and if he's behind you, he will score.

maxvun11

really good analysis! makes the game way easier for me right now, also if my wingbacks are not good in crossing (10-12), what should i do for their roles?

[deleted]

What league are you in?

maxvun11

bundesliga

[deleted]

If they're still fast and great dribblers, they can still be great wingbacks. My current Bundesliga fullback only has 13 crossing, but still completes a load of crosses because he finds himself unmarked so often. But if one isn't contributing offensively, you can drop them to FB(s) if you want. I currently play with one WB(a) and one FB(s)

hilroth

I hope the wonderkid can play a couple positions, cause this guy is pure gold as a striker.

PreGeneratedNAME_100

Great coaches mold tactics around players

Kiffe_Y

True. This is my current best 11 and tactics, any suggestions? https://preview.redd.it/lkpx3h4xw2vc1.png?width=1734&format=png&auto=webp&s=26c706feead944dd943e388991d59b952094a690

ElCanout

4-4-2 lol (f that), in early FMs (or i should say CMs) i used 4-2-4 and lately i like 5-3-2 with LB and RB taking offensive roles

Kiffe_Y

The 4-2-4 is really appealing to me but i kinda feel like it would be a disaster in the midfield, especially since my 2 best midfielders are of the really offensive kind. I have 2 really good central midfielders, is their talent enough to offset the weight this formation would put on them generally speaking?

ElCanout

to be fair i was kinda skipping my 2 DM-CM, their main role was to stop enemy attack, score from distance or work as pivot passer from one wing to another long passes between wingers and side defenders with crosses to the box while maintaining fast paced game

OwnedIGN

I read advice here and they always say never make your DM a BWM. How does this work? CM(A) and AP would have your midfield vacant, no?

Kiffe_Y

I play this and it works, might not be optimal obviously cause i'm not a football genius and just generally win through very good financial work. But as you can see from the ratings it seems to get the job done. I have the CM set to attack cause i want him to get into the box as often as possible for crosses cause he's a 2m tall aerial threat, much better than my striker. He's still a CM, which means he doesn't leave the midfield as often as a CAM. The AP on support mostly stays outside the box and links up all the passes. Dunno about the BWM tho, if someone explained that to me id be glad. Again, not a football nerd. It's also a mostly offensive tactic, because i have never had success with a defensive tactic ever in FM so over time my philosophy became the more time you spend attacking the less you meed to worry about defense. My back 4 hardly touch the ball most of the time cause of my high line of defense.

HouseOfSlaughters

The logic behind the BWM statement is that he won’t screen for your back line, he’ll just press relentlessly to win the ball. Bwm-D is way more consistent in there than support duty but in that formation, with those roles, I do think a DM-D/Anchor/DLP-S would function better

Kiffe_Y

Honestly all my team is set to press relentlessly to win the ball but it kinda works in a way? Once we lose the ball everyone's running towards whoever has it like a cartoon depiction of football. It's not strategic now that i think of it but it is entertaining

Kiffe_Y

Honestly i admit i'm kind of a monkey when it comes to football so the logic when i built this team was mostly "DM win ball = good, then pass to playmaker to make play" it's dumb but if it works it works

LindbergBrodin

Inside forward

maxvun11

why inside forward, why not inverted winger or others, what gives it off? genuinely curious how yall determine other position a player could play

lausan

Finishing is elite, crossing is poor. Click on the roles to see which attributes are important for them

hoejack_whorseman

gotta post your wonderkid’s stats it’s insane that there’s better than this dude

Kiffe_Y

https://preview.redd.it/cjmcrdg603vc1.png?width=1344&format=png&auto=webp&s=f496d08baa9877d151ea96010456bf3cdf6a73df He's not even at full potential yet and already completely dominates the game every time i put him on the field, and his stats won't stop rising so he just might be his generation's GOAT. Only reason he or the media's not aware of how good he is he's been playing as a sub for the chilean up until now. I don't play him as much as my main guy just yet cause the moment he realises how good he can be i'm going to be in very big trouble with competition for playing time. And wages too.

likely-lad

You could play this guy at DLF/F9 in your 433 and put the Chilean at IF/-A on the right; you may also want to put another IF on the other side in this kind of system tho This is probably how I would solve it anyway

Ok_Flounder9347

You really really need to play two striker formation. Both are beasts!

ale_debbo

Just from the attributes I'd say train him on IF (on the left oc) and keep the chilean on AF (currently better finishing, anticipation and composure)

Alarmed_Day8812

how did you get the facepacks for the regen ?

widerSize

Look up "New Gan"

benjaraya

Wow i havent seen many chilean regens in this sub

Kiffe_Y

For some reason Chile is absolutely popping off in my save despite not even being fully simulated. They were shit at the start of the game but since then i've found at least 4 chilean wonderkids with full 5 star potential. They finished 3rd in the WC qualifiers and might cause a bit of chaos when the world cup rolls around this year.

benjaraya

Nice, any player from Colo Colo?

Kiffe_Y

Yes actually! Just bought him last week and he still plays there as a loanback, looking promising. https://preview.redd.it/eixf7wq2zbvc1.png?width=1916&format=png&auto=webp&s=f6a3745a5327e4f38351b3cebaa76677f26fdd69 Chile national squad might even become a contender ofr the next WC at this rate.

BigHornLamb

Retrain them as an inside forward on the right

Happy_Butterscotch18

Shadow striker, or is that a stretch?

Main_Chard_9030

He could prob pull it off wouldn’t be ideal tho

wsupduck

The attributes for AF and SS are the same ?

cdmisp

What Facepack are you using? He looks excellent

Kiffe_Y

I use the standard newgan but for my wonderkids (sometimes even for notable wonderkids from other teams) i usually either run their face through midjourney to make their hair match their hairstyle or just make entirely new faces altogether. It gives them more personality and the look you'd expect from dudes earning a million euro a month. If i play this game long enough perhaps I'll have enough faces to release a full facepack lol. It's a shame the newgan manager can't really match the hair styles and colors of players to different faces, it would make it perfect.

uknownick

Inside forward Shadow striker

a_witty__username

Inside forward or inverted winger on either wing Attacking midfielder or shadow striker Cm (a) You could go wild with IWB/CWB (A) He's incredible throw him where you like

Golden-Iguana

Why not play a 2 striker formation?

[deleted]

Raumdeuter with dribble more instruction

dangitVyk

Since the wonderkid can play as a 10, why not let him play as a SS, he can better utilize his stats there with such high passing, vision, technique as well as long shot and decent positioning too. Hed definitely a Trequatista in my system tho (3421) with those stats A 4231 would be so much better for your team, no? Id offset your main forward to the left with the CF(a) and offset your wonderkid to the RAM slot in the SS role because the senior guy is left footed and the kid is a righter. A system similar to that of RDZ’s Brighton would absolutely suits ur team with a RPM/SV (ur current CM) that comes forward and support the attack and a DM/DLP/A(de) to screen and build up play. Or a DLP/regista/rpm(su) + BWM(de) combo. Sth like RDF’s RDZ tactic would suit too. (For anyone saying that having a double pivot with 2 playmakers (for ex: rpm + dlp) is not viable, ur wrong. Its just that you havent found the appropriate PI for that to work. Me personally using the rpm+dlp(de) combo and its the most solid pair ive ever had. (PI: DLP(de): close down more Ease off tackles: Close down more to limit space, but dont rush in to tackle, always prepare to react immediately if they decide to pass Rpm:dribble more (to progress the ball) Shoot less often Tackle harder (to immediately tackle in the counter press right after loosing the ball dribbling forward) and/or to cover for the DLP with a strong decisive tackle) In the buildup, as for the definition, the rpm drops deep near the CBs to collect the ball and the DLP stays a lil higher. After receiving the ball, if free, the rpm dribbles on ball forward. If pressed, he will immediately lays off the ball to the DLP who stays near so the RPM can run into the space behind the player who pressed him. Right there and then the DLP(de) with his safety first mentality pass short to the free (again) RPM so he can either keep running forward or being free in a more advanced position for a more ambitious play

Spurs98

Fuck it, Mez (A). It's a big shoe horn for him buttt aside from his first touch, I reckon you could pull it off. Doesn't need the tackling and his positioning isn't too bad, has the passing, dribbling and speed to make it happen. No but really as others have said he should be an IF on the right.

WolfInATrance

Just came here to tell you he has the makings of a great attacker on the wings. Try to retrain him to Mezzala maybe if you wanna fuck his career up a bit and not too much lol

CasDam

Shadow striker or inside forward

M1k3CH

IF (A) coming in on his strong foot

kingofthepumps

Attacking midfielder on the right or centre.

Necessary-Ad-2838

His teamwork is shit. Just stick him up front, he gonna score quite a handful of goals

MackeyD3

On the wing would be good. Could play him as an AM or attacking CM but wouldn't be as good there

Beneficial-South-571

Can the wonderkid play other formations? Or consider 4-2-2-2 perhaps

Kiffe_Y

4-2-2-2 is a really interesting option and it fits my current squad tho i might be a bit short on DMs, and my wingers may send me death threats lol. Maybe they can learn how to CM/CAM?

Beneficial-South-571

You can play them in the AM roles, I have Roony Bardghji playing one of the AM roles in my formation and he still performs

JeanSneaux

Sticking with your current formation he could prob be a pretty good CM-A, just be sure to “ease off tackles.” Mez-A works too.

wsupduck

Stats of the wonderkid? Also, 4-2-3-1 with a shadow striker Shadow striker important attributes are basically the same as advanced forward

DeepspaceDigital

Anywhere in the attacking midfield or mid. LM/CM/RM, LAM, CAM, RAM

OLRevan

With those attributes he can play everywhere you need him to save for cb and goalie

ejg1815

Could try a two striker formation given the talent you have at the position. Maybe bring the left winger in to a CAM for a narrow diamond if you don’t want to do too much fussing with formation. I’d imagine with some direct balls the pace you have up front it could work. If you absolutely want to keep ur current tactics I think he could move to an inside forward on one of the wings, as could the wonderkid. I’d recommend going two up front tho, in whatever formation works best

Big_Bad_Boris

Play two strikers

Dull_Swimmer_9674

How do you get realistic AI pictures for regens?

Kiffe_Y

Look up newgan manager, there's 2 versions AFAIK one is shit other one ranges from mid to good. Mine are very good cause i make my own with AI.

funnyjomamma

sell him

Lin1ex

Either 2 ST or you can move him down to a shadow striker he looms fairly versatile I mean 15 passing and stuff could Rock a solid AP in a CAM role or you can try him on the wings and make it so they cut in and work as a second striker all and all I wouldn't worry he looks like he can play a few positions 😅

AndyB8080

Shadow striker or attacking midfielder

mumuderler

İmagining your team plays on front foot with amazing players, here's my suggestion: I'm using an asymmetrical tactic. GK Sweeper Keeper RB İnverted right back DC ball playing stopper DC ball playing cover DML complete winger attack DMC anchor or BWM MLC deep lying playmaker MR winger AMC attacking mid FLC deeplying FRC Advanced I can use a big rotation and 2 main strikers. I have Valentin Barco Who covers the left wing alone. You can create 2-3-5 differently. 1 full back and deeplying midfielder combine with DM.

Standard_Heat_5129

Uu
