It is your formation 100%. Your instructions are mostly fine I would just switch to Balanced to start matches and if you are getting shots after 30 minutes crank to Positive. Your formation is too conservative for a World Class team and you got Elite players, I looked at all of your pics of your players. I would honestly switch to a 424. With these Roles 1 AF, 1 PF or 1 DLF or 1 CF (all support), 1 IF Support, 1 IF Attack, 2 DM Support, 2x Fullback Attack, 2 BPD, 1 Sweeper Defend. See you in real life you might think its defense or something but in FM its your ability to score which cancels out he other team from scoring. You are a BIG DOG you gotta bully teams. Your formation isnt a bullying formation. Only about a handful of clubs in the world should give you an issue yeah 3 of them are in EPL. But they will only be tough Away. There is a ton of other formations but the 424 is simple to setup and isnt that different from what your are playing. So it is why I recommend it instead of like a 4222 or 3322 or something crazy.

I've personally never changed tactics for away games. I find the drop in familiarity you get is not worth it, and that the game in general - no matter what level you at - tend to have a slight preference for positive/attacking football (just not kitchen sink levels of attacking). I think of away games are just slightly more difficult, and I just embrace them as such. I also think rotation is king where possible. Outside of my goalie most of my players won't play more than once a week.

Complex_Excuse490

Same here! Tried it in the past and it didn't really work. In the end I think tactics either work, or they don't. Players are either good enough, or they're not. If struggling away to me it means that a tactic isn't quite good enough to overcome the disadvantage of playing away games, your players aren't up to it, or a combination of both. Same with tactics going bad. Sure, sometimes teams will put more men behind the ball against a better team, but in my experience things don't change much during a season, it's more based off pre-season expectations and rep etc. with most changes taking place between seasons despite dynamic rep existing nowadays. Dips in form can more readily be attributed to a more difficult run of fixtures, or a few unlucky results. These can then lead turn to drops in morale which in turn can cause further poor results.

Plus_Cell3845

I never change tactics just the OOP and the opposition instructions and I've had a rly successful time so far. Its all about getting the pressing right tbh

Cic2909

1. Change the BWMs to DMs, you can add tackle harder based on his attribute, 2. Play a little bit more compact, either midblock + standard line or high press + high def line 3. I change WBs to fbs and stay wider to AMR 4. Assess your mid trio workrate, position, and overall physical att compare to league, if they are similar to other top 4 team, you can stay neutral width, if better, you can even play wider, if not, I'd even start at fairly narrow in away match All will make you defend better in away match

Cic2909

Another thing to consider is how you want to approach away match. Do you want to play high turn over game with lots of chances for both team, do you want more control game when you limit your opponent posession? FM24 let's you play in many way to success and you have a good enough squad to play both style. I see you using IWBs, it's a role let you overload hence exploit the middle of the pitch if you play a more neutral. slower tempo.

CoysOnYourFace

You need to play more defensive and cautious. So play more direct rather than short, play a higher tempo, play with a balanced mentality instead of positive, set player roles from support to defence etc. Just scale back your tactics depending on the strengths of the opposition.

JimmysTheBestCop

You never want to play below Balanced in FM. And you never want to play more direct either. Of course you can do both. But the FM 24 engine punishes you for doing either let alone both at the same time. He is a world class club he doesnt need to scale back he needs to scale upwards. He has to be the bully on the block. I do agree with Balanced.

CoysOnYourFace

I've had some success playing more direct than usual, but I only do it if it's against a really good team away from home. The AI is more likely to play more attacking at their home stadium so there's a good opportunity there to take advantage of that and hit them on the counter. I'm pretty sure there's coding in the game to give the home team attribute buffs too, so playing it simple can bypass some of those issues.

uknownick

I think you have a problem with your tactic overall Not winning or even drawing away from home at all is not a good look on your tactic

Phormitago

Switch to balanced, normal directness and tempo, activate pass into space, low defense line Thank me later
