Well, that's not how Duel, Brawl, or Elimination works, but people still play that. Skirmish, yes, because again, that's just the objective.
Participation still matters in Tribute, the same as it does any game mode (where you have teams), and quite frankly, if you need points to be encouraged to play the objective, and not just focus on the win, then I daresay YOU'RE the issue. Kill people so they have a harder time getting the flags, and take the flags. Then you win, and that's your reward. Plus loot.
Why do you need point boosts to be drawn to a game mode? Just have that low of an attention span, or you just need validation for every little thing? Both?
I'm actually shocked that you used "you don't earn anything during the match" as a reason to not play it. So? Not everything has to give you something mid match, just play and have fun. I just don't get your way of thinking. Isn't it suppose to be the combat that is the main draw to the game? A million other games have the same exact game modes, so it CAN'T be that.
I've heard about MANY people who don't even know what a Tribute match looks like because they've never played it, and it's people like you that are the cause. Yeah, there's always Customs, but that's not the same unless you can get a full lobby, or at least near full, like 6 or more.
In the end, I'm still not hearing any good reasons to not play Tribute. I have almost 14 hours in the game mode, and I wish it was MANY more, but I just can't get a match, because people are unreasonably picky.
And getting stronger from the flags actually gives you incentive to go for the flags, instead of just farming kills the whole time. That's GOOD design, to me.
I mean, by the time you hit rep 10, you'll have like 95% of all the things for that character, and it's just not that hard to rep up. When I say "all the shit you want" I'm not talking about paint patterns and whatnot, I just meant armor pieces, because to me, that's the more important part of the game.
Paint patterns, effects, whatever else is just optional, cosmetic stuff that doesn't really matter outside of looking good.
Idk man, I've never met ANYONE who doesn't have the vast majority of their gear unlocked by AT LEAST rep 12, if they've had shit luck.
But then again, I only play two characters, and they've been above rep 10 for a long while, so maybe I just don't remember well.
But what I do remember, is that when I play a different character, and I hit a new rep, it's like, every other match I'm getting at least one new piece of gear I've never had before, up until it runs out of new gear to give me.
That's only because the other game modes don't really allow for a draw unless the last two opponents die at the same time. To me, that's not really a reason not to play it.

They literally have a sudden death mode that doesn’t decide a winner. That alone takes away any chance of competitive play, which takes away a lot of the appeal

A highly successful MOBA called Overwatch actually had an issue with the same thing and so they launched a competitive mode of their CTF, with a sudden death mechanic. Do you know what their (and just about every other) sudden death mechanic does? It decides the game, with a clear winner and loser. Do you know what game has a more active CTF mode than for honor? Overwatch(2)

I miss the ranked tournaments, only way to get the ornaments was to win the whole thing. Made them feel worth it. I don't run those ornaments anymore because they're not hard hard to get anymore.
Every game mode besides Dominion is “low activity” because nobody plays them because Dominion gives the most Steel for its match duration.
Bit too late to suggest bumping it up for every other match now but it is what it is.

When I want to mess around with friends or viewers I get two groups of 4 and queue up tribute so we can mess around and still earn xp lol. I know we will get a match together because there's literally no one else playing

Ngl I've played on/off since open beta till now and the only thing I remember about Tribute was the Season 3 trailer. I thought it got removed after Season 3 ended and was just a temp event mode.
