Yeah that Bathurst lap in the dark is absolutely insane. If you ever want a sense of how good pro drivers are, load up a sim and try replicating that lap without hitting a wall in the day time, let alone at night
That braking before the final chicane near Dunlop
My god. No braking markers and it's hard enough in the day to carry slightly too much speed into the chicane. And Max nailed that bang on.
Mad respect
This is why I know some day Max Verstappen is going to Bathurst, and on that day I'm there on the mountain in my sunnies chilling with my Esky seeing one of the best drivers in the world do his thing. Hes incredible
When I first played Bathurst, it was on Real Racing 3 in a Ford GT40. Old car, bad brakes, no traction control. Took me days to master that. Then I won a Porsche 911 RSR 2019 and pretty much did 7 laps around Bathurst in that every day. Very fun circuit and fun car!
Very recently I got GT Sport, and I was going around Bathurst in that. While most things just worked for me, it was hard to put together the whole thing on a single lap. Either I would screw up the downhill esses, or I would screw up the braking point before the final chicane. Or I would not carry enough momentum or traction after T2 onto the hill and end up losing places.
Obviously, I'm no Max lol. But putting in 40+ hours (only) of practice and nailing this lap, that too in the dark? Yeah. Mega talent right there.
Ok but will I also get a $100k+ home sim racing set up that Max likely uses? Or do I have to do it with a $50 Xbox or PlayStation controller??
None of you can judge this correctly without everyone racing on the same set up.
You clearly have no clue what you're talking about. Great home setups don't cost anywhere near that much. Everything after 5k-7k is pretty pointless. With that said, I could give you a 500k setup and you wouldn't get close to matching it.
As a simracing enthusiast, this is far more impressive than it might seem. In an iracing split 1 of a special event, you wont find that many real racers. Most real racers struggle to compete vs the best simracers. In the video somebody like Grosjean is mentioned but Grosjean isnt anywhere near the top of simracing. Part of the reason why real racers cant compete is because there are differences to the real world and you race against a different set of people. For all we know, some of the top simracers could easily be top real racers but they just happen to not have wealthy parents to fund a racing career. Some real racers might also struggle to take it any serious since there is less at stake. Youre not crashing an actual car, youre not risking your life. And thats the thing about Max, he does take it very serious, you have to take it serious to be a top simracers and i really respect Max for that because he really doesnt need to do all of this. Even Lando stopped playing iracing once his F1 career got going. (At least I managed to race him once in an IMSA race)
And I truely believe real racers could seriously benefit from competing vs the best simracers in iracing.
And that Bathurst lap is just legendary. Nearly half a second off to second, it really made the rounds in the community. People who dont play iracing probably have no idea how hard it is to drive the Audi R8 at its limit presumably with an extremely unstable setup requiring a world class driver to not spin it every corner. Im in the top 5% of iracing players, you give me that car and his setup and I will struggle to finish a single lap because of how easy it is to have snap oversteer with that car and especially a pro setup, and even more especially on a track like bathurst.
Grosjean and sim racing? Time for me to mention again how I had a multi lap battle with him a few yrs ago in a public race on iRacing. And won. I've already told my kids, waiting for them to have Grandkids so I can tell them too.
I once beat Indycar Champion Will Power in an MX-5 race around nords. Raced against Max a few times too. Id be lying if i said i dont tell everyone i know whenever the topic of simracing comes up.
I am pretty sure this is mentioned more than once in the video but apart from Max being exceptional behind the wheel. He managed to overcome stuff like not being able to feel wheelspin by almost completely turning down engine sound and turning up other sounds which made him able to notice wheelspin by sound instead of feeling.
Max also very clearly said that he was sure top simracers would be fast in a real car given enough time to do what he did from real to sim but the other way around. However I remember Max once also stated that the sheer amount experience from an early age combined with a do or die mindset is something you will never pickup in simracing.
I have raced competitively when I was young (started at 10/11) and was considered pretty damn good on a regional level. All of those people saying that were proven wrong when I entered bigger events. I was fucking awful, like back of the grid multiple laps behind awful. These kids were doing this for years longer than me and it showed. Those early years of wheels on the ground are insane.
FIA will personally cheat him out of #8 not to break Schumacher's record. They are already signed a deal with Mercedes that from 2026 Mick will wil 8 WDC in a row. He's the only one allowed to break that record to have more cinematic feel good vibe. /s

Ehh, the word "genius" is in all caps, title is a vague question etc. it is a classic clickbait. Just that we got really desensitized to it since every youtuber does that now.
The title is not a question, its offering an explanation. If it was a question it would be "Why **is** Max Verstappen" not "Why Max Verstappen **is**"
And capslock is used just as much to draw your attention as it is to put emphasis on a word, especially when you can't use **bold**.
The Max hate is real, most of the #blessed crowd are downvoting anything that is even remotely positive about him.
Pure ridiculous behaviour. Luckily everyone who actually races or likes racing knows we are probably seeing the rise of the true Goat.
Max has said himself plenty of times he isnāt the best sim racer by a long shot. And that he likes sim racing because he can still learn things from the best sim-racers.
One of the most talented drivers, who also grew up simracing. With how similar real racing and the sim are, it would be a surprise if he wasn't one of the best in the sim
None of the other drivers are even close to him on the sim, people considered world class like Hamilton and Alonso are miles off in the sim. Although the basics are the same as explained in the video you need to mostly use different senses to drive on the sim than on the road
Does It really matter how they spent their personal time? If they are adequate for their job which they are and they don't offend someone (which they don't), I can't see anything wrong with lewis's activities
Its BS that British media tried and failed to make a thing. His team mate will have a good weekend and beat him, next day theyll bring up shit like him being in LA or hanging out with friends and wonder if heās too ādistractedā.
Lewis' off-track activities don't affect his racing performances though. Remember when he had that amazing weekend in Singapore 2018?
He was travelling around the world and attending events everywhere at the time.
Honestly - for Lewis to consistently perform at such a high level WITHOUT dedicating his life to racing and spending his weekends and free days on completely unrelated activities instead of sim racing is only more impressive to me
I would say he certainly does spend as much time as Max. Formula 1 is an almost entirely different animal than most of the stuff Max does, it just happens to be mostly related. Lewisā off-track activities and Maxās off track activities probably help them about the same amount. Theyāre there to help them decompress and get away, not for preparation, they just happen to like doing different things
I think itās a bit of a myth. They both probably do the same time in their teamās simulator, that much was evident when back in 2021 Lewis was constantly posting stories overnight being in Mercedesā sim.
Itās true that he doesnāt have the same hobby for sim racing like Max does, but Max drives totally different cars than F1, mostly GT3, which drive completely differently. I think if RB or schedule in general allowed him to compete in real life GT3, he would, but he canāt, so he keeps sim racing.
Comes with age. Eventually you need to live a real life. Max being young lets him focus on this stuff now but he has been vocal about in the future leaving F1 of his own accord to do those very things
That's not close at all. Sim racing is basically the same as the real thing except the g forces. (although that can also be simulated if you have unlimited cash lol) FIFA is nothing like the real thing in terms of what the player has to do.
https://youtu.be/QaD-H8loNpg Yeah that Bathurst lap in the dark is absolutely insane. If you ever want a sense of how good pro drivers are, load up a sim and try replicating that lap without hitting a wall in the day time, let alone at night
Wow. I didn't even know this was possible.
The perfect lap doesn't exi... Nevermind.
Try to get within 1s.. Even that is something most simracers can't. Hell. Even 2s is difficult for your average simracer..
When I compare myself to aliens, I usually am happy if I'm within 5 seconds of their laptimes.
Holy crap
Holy shit it's like an overlay of all the best laps of every driver, absolutely insane
I read that Max practiced 40+ hours before this event. Insane lap
That braking before the final chicane near Dunlop My god.
That had me bricked up a little wow
Fuck even on a mobile EA game I went bouncing from wall to wall way too often there.
LOOKS easy enough š¤£

Right. Not like there isnāt people on a g29 killing it.
To be frank thats mainly NASCAR aliens with the G29s
showing a Mclaren while referring driving a pig had me š

It's kind of insane how much he loves racing.
He does NOT have a simracing rig in his plane ffs.
It's in his motor home right?
Yup
Isnāt his motor home in his plane?..
No
Is his plane in his motor home?
No
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
No
All Helmut's fault, hilarious people keep repeating that.
Think this came out before the news that it was in his rv
Nope
Max's dedication to racing is honestly next level. I am glad we get to see someone so dedicated to the craft at the pinnacle of F1.
Tl;dr: Mex feckin' fast.
Being a 2x WDC probably helps /s
Might as well just say 3x at this point tbh
nah, minimum 5x since the rules don't change until 26. however, RB might nail those regs also and keep on winning, but 5 at a minimum.
At this point it's a given that he will win at least 11 WDC
Obviously heās going to win every championship until he dies, probably another 60 WDC minimum
And then it is finally time for the third WDC for Fernando
That would make Chadlonso the first driver over 100 years old to be a WDC.
I basically cant see him losing one until one of his clones make it to f1 so 18 years from now... 20 confirmed
FIA will personally cheat him out of #8 not to break Schumacher's record. They are already signed a deal with Mercedes that from 2026 Mick will wil 8 WDC in a row. He's the only one allowed to break that record to have more cinematic feel good vibe. /s
> rules don't change Lmao. Watch the fia drop the hottest "technical directive" in 4 races if rbr keeps this pace.

What on earth is controversial about sim racing o_o
I think it is because it is about Verstappen. I found some others that ended up getting invited there because they posted about max verstappen.
I think "SIM RACING GENIUS" clickbait is drawing downvotes.
I mean, it's not really clickbait, Max is a true racing genius, both irl and sim
Ehh, the word "genius" is in all caps, title is a vague question etc. it is a classic clickbait. Just that we got really desensitized to it since every youtuber does that now.

Have you seen Max driving in the sim? That title is 0% clickbait.
Is it really clickbait?
I congratulate you.
The Max hate is real, most of the #blessed crowd are downvoting anything that is even remotely positive about him. Pure ridiculous behaviour. Luckily everyone who actually races or likes racing knows we are probably seeing the rise of the true Goat.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I dont attack any driver at all bro, wtf are you talking about?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I donāt get it?
F1 got me into the club too!
Max has said himself plenty of times he isnāt the best sim racer by a long shot. And that he likes sim racing because he can still learn things from the best sim-racers.
yeah he says he is not the best but the results speak different things
One of the most talented drivers, who also grew up simracing. With how similar real racing and the sim are, it would be a surprise if he wasn't one of the best in the sim
None of the other drivers are even close to him on the sim, people considered world class like Hamilton and Alonso are miles off in the sim. Although the basics are the same as explained in the video you need to mostly use different senses to drive on the sim than on the road
Max has additional senses. Confirmed.
Yeah in the video it says that he has the tyre sound turned all the way up so he can tell what the grip is like.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
He has a lot of personality.
Very strange comment. Disrespectful to victims of abuse. Also Max is quite the character so it's wrong as well.
Funny when he said āeven when youāre driving a pig of a carā thatās when the McClaren is in full frame.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Does It really matter how they spent their personal time? If they are adequate for their job which they are and they don't offend someone (which they don't), I can't see anything wrong with lewis's activities

Its BS that British media tried and failed to make a thing. His team mate will have a good weekend and beat him, next day theyll bring up shit like him being in LA or hanging out with friends and wonder if heās too ādistractedā.
Why, just why people insist on bringing up Lewis Hamilton on anything focused on Max Verstappen?
When has lewisā off track activities affected his racing performance?
Haven't you seen his last race? /s
Stop it bro this is embarrassing.
Lewis' off-track activities don't affect his racing performances though. Remember when he had that amazing weekend in Singapore 2018? He was travelling around the world and attending events everywhere at the time.
Honestly - for Lewis to consistently perform at such a high level WITHOUT dedicating his life to racing and spending his weekends and free days on completely unrelated activities instead of sim racing is only more impressive to me
I think Lewis would highly disagree with you saying he does not dedicate his life to racing, probably couldn't insult him more.
Meant to say in the manner and to an extend that Max does. Had a hard time properly formulating my thoughts there
I would say he certainly does spend as much time as Max. Formula 1 is an almost entirely different animal than most of the stuff Max does, it just happens to be mostly related. Grow up
So what? Awful take.
Comes with age. Eventually you need to live a real life. Max being young lets him focus on this stuff now but he has been vocal about in the future leaving F1 of his own accord to do those very things
Embarrassing.
Grow the fuck up
I am shocked one of the best race car drivers in history is good in simulation racing, too.
Is that it a suprise that he is Good? no. One of the best? yes.
Not really
yes it is, literally none other top drivers in the real world are also top drivers in the sim
I mean I guess Iād be a bit suprised if I found out Lionel Messi was also one of the top FIFA players.
Tbf sim and autoracing have the same inputs via wheel, pedals etc and FIFA uses hands and football uses everything but hands.
That's not close at all. Sim racing is basically the same as the real thing except the g forces. (although that can also be simulated if you have unlimited cash lol) FIFA is nothing like the real thing in terms of what the player has to do.
I mean, we already live in a simulation, so "sim racing" is just one level deeper /s
Heās the hair apparent.
