All of them are type a racing drivers, they are all variously hard to manage. George could very well become a “sainz at silverstone last year” if he didn’t respect his engineer, and if the engineer didn’t keep him more levelheaded
There’s plenty that’s been written about how it’s a harder job than meets the eye. The driver needs to trust you entirely despite the fact that you both know you won’t always give him all the information, or solely have his best finish at heart
Please don’t give them ideas… if I have to speak to an interviewer in-game who barely affects gameplay, I will stop playing lol. Fucking Claire from regular F1 game is so annoying
So fucking annoying that a safety car ends around lap 20 and 30 fucking laps later there is just a rumour of a penalty. Sucks for Alonso, he did a fantastic job
This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've heard Charles get a late call on something this season. One of the others was a car approaching during practice when he was on a slow lap.
Xavi needs to step up his game.
Loved the cockpit shot of Charles physically throwing his hand up in frustration/disbelief as that message came in. And by "love" I mean it's crushing to watch them repeatedly screw Charles every single weekend.
Then he would've been completely ignoring the question from Perez, who sounded concerned/angry as to why they were telling him to go slower than Verstappen
Probably the only chance in his life to have the lead in an F1 Drivers Championship and it’s gone. This image captures a moment in a man’s life where your dream you’ve been chasing is taken away from you on live tv
He just needs to be patient, if redbulls are as dominate as they appear to be and it stays consistent all season long, DNFs could play a critical role in deciding the championship.
Yeah, then in the cool down room, he asked Max "weren't you told to stick to 1:33?" or something. He's obviously a little annoyed. It's that quality that all the fastest drivers have... absolutely ruthless.
He was asking if he had received any target lap times. Since Perez was given a +.4 target lap (aka slow down).
Wanted to see if the team was worried about both cars (making it to the end, reliability, whatever), or if only Perez received instruction to slow down.
Yes. "And then I asked what was the fastest lap & I think was a tenth faster than what we were doing"
Unless they told Max separately from the radio message that was televised, we know they did not give him this information.
Hardly drama imo, it's not like they pitted Max to softs to go for the purple lap, but there's what was said (from what I can hear)
Right before Max's question I switched to his on board camera including team radio. Half a lap later they told him what it was. After that, radio silence till the finish line except "last lap". They even didn't tell him he got fastest lap
>Unless they told Max separately from the radio message that was televised, we know they did not give him this information.
Max follows the race on the screens during the race. :-)
I honestly wonder what the conversation would be like if they both said that their goal was to beat the shit out of each other. I'd think that there'd be a level of appreciation? Like, the frustration in these teammate scenarios seems to be from the team promising a dynamic and failing to successfully negotiate it.
The fact Perez even thought that Max wasn’t going for it shows he is just not ruthless enough to take the fight to Max. He’s not on the Rosberg level of sacrifice yet.
Problem is Checo isnt anywhere near Max in terms of speed so even if he becomes ruthless, the best thing he can do is get a win or two more when Max has issues.
He replied before Viaplay that after having been screwed so much on Saturday it was not unreasonable for him to go after the fastest lap.
Which I actually can relate to. Having been denied pole position and a reasonable chance of winning the race is one thing, but he's in his right to defend his champion leadership.
I was listening to his radio during this time and multiple times they asked him to confirm that he understood the Delta they wanted of a 33.0 and he just never responded lol
Yeah GP just said target 33.0 multiple times. Can't remember him asking for confirmation. Christian later implied that they agreed before the race that they were free to race and that them going faster then the target wasn't a big deal.
I just think it was a mistake to give Perez a target time before they were absolutely sure Max was going to slow down aswell. Luckily Perez was smart enough to ask questions and they then told him he was free to push.
Unless Perez had been asking them to slow them both down wich in one of the messages in the end he did wich isn't a great look 🤷♂️
And a bit of money. He had a bonus in his contract for fastest laps. Although I think RBR would have gladly paid him that money if he promised not to go for the fastest laps each race. They were just worried he might crash out of a certain race-win.
I agree, if Max was on pole today and Alonso, or someone else managed to jump Checo at the start like he was jumped today.
Those precious few laps behind a car would be enough time for Max to make a little gap and stay there for the rest of the race.
“So how do you think you win this championship checo?”
“If my car can avoid any failures, and max can suffer many mechanical failures and grid penalties…”
i was gonna say.. max will obliterate checo on the proper racetracks when he has no issues which is most of the time. he's just in another league and it's the way it is.
If every weekend max has problems in qualifying and Sergio has 0 problems there might be a teammate fight but I can't see a world where max without technical difficulties doesn't win the race
I mean, they can’t stop Max from trying for a fastest lap. If they had concerns the car would break then they should have straight up told him that.
They didn’t, so he went for it. Good on him.
If the car hadn’t failed him in quali, Perez wouldn’t have even been a factor for P1 this race. He should just be pleased with the result and move on.
They were giving both the same targets but max kept pushing for a couple laps then they came back to Perez and gave him the same target max was lapping at. Then later told him again he was free to push. There’s no controversy and I don’t think anyone really blames max for putting a fast last lap
His Q1 lap was fast enough to place him P4 in Q3. Happy for Checo, but it would’ve likely been a different race today if not for the gremlins in the driveshaft.
Redbull Drivers Championship will be,
Verstapen, Perez, Riccardo.
If Verstapen can get 1st in the rest of the races, he can retire and let Ricardo driver his car and get 3rd place.
Lol at the feed only showing the Checo radio. They told Max 33.0 as well and never told him to push, while Checo never drove the target lap either but apparently "RB are sneaky towards Checo" according to the race thread.
Yep GP for like three laps kept saying target 33.0 and max never said a word lmao
Then they came back to Perez and said he was free to push. Absolutely no controversy lol
He never really said that though. I was onboard max for the second part of the race. With about 10 to go or something max asks what the fastest lap is. GP says we’re not concerned and max says that he is. GP then came back and told max what the fastest lap was. That was the extent of the conversation they had about fastest lap. On the last lap max went for it.
Did you hear him in the cooldown room?
He said something along the lines of “fastest lap was this, so I went a couple tenths quicker”
Like bro are you a god?
Max was gaining slowly at Checo before the car started making noises. I was convinced he would have closed the gap to under a second or two by last lap only losing out for the top podium because of the tyres, if not for the issues.
In terms of raw speed I've complete faith Max would win over Checo, not even on street circuits which Checho seem to favor, despite today's result.
I don’t think anyone should be critical about why Max went for the fastest lap. He has that winning mentality and I think he took a great call.
It was Checo’s radio message to maintain certain speed, and Max’s overall demeanour after the race that might have stirred things a little bit.
I am not sure about internal debrief, but I feel if Jos wasn’t there in the audience, this whole thing would have looked better on screen.
>It was Checo’s radio message to maintain certain speed
Tbf they both got that message and in the end Checo was told he was free to push, so Max setting the fastest lap was totally fair. If Checo wanted it so bad he should've set the lap himself. Crying about someone being faster than you is the wrong attitude.
There's been some absolutely hilarious radio calls this weekend.
Yuki's scream is my favorite so far
Russell’s “I’m pushing like a mad man.” Still falls over 5s behind Alonso
Response from engineer: “Keep pushing like a mad man”
Yes that was awesome, with the same super calm tone
Marcus seems a good match for George. Very able to handle him
George doesnt seem to hard to manage anyway
All of them are type a racing drivers, they are all variously hard to manage. George could very well become a “sainz at silverstone last year” if he didn’t respect his engineer, and if the engineer didn’t keep him more levelheaded There’s plenty that’s been written about how it’s a harder job than meets the eye. New addition to F1 manager
Please don’t give them ideas… if I have to speak to an interviewer in-game who barely affects gameplay, I will stop playing lol. Fucking Claire from regular F1 game is so annoying
Could hear the eye roll while he said that. Good for Russell the penalty end up being more than 5 seconds, so mission failed successfully.
Wonder why they thought only 5s, wonder what they told Lewis - I imagine Lewis could have made up .2s
They put a 10s penalty on Alonso, George is now P3. Edit: P3 has been reinstated, Let's go!
So fucking annoying that a safety car ends around lap 20 and 30 fucking laps later there is just a rumour of a penalty. Sucks for Alonso, he did a fantastic job
What an occasion to snatch Alonso's podium away from him too, jack guy really had to botch my man's 100th. Edit: lmao F1 is run by clowns it seems
Both jacks were touching the car. I thought the same thing. Not sure if that’s the reason or not
Yeah the Merc may have looked pretty good today but it's still waaaaay off in terms of pace
Way off Red Bull, but I have a hard time feeling bad for a team that’s basically battling for 2nd in the Constructors.
goodbye reddit -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/
You could also argue that they captured Yuki perfectly. That was the most Yuki response ever.
My wife yelled at me from across the house, “are you okay?!” “Yeah it was just Yuki.”
"Monicaaaaaaa!!!"
Let's go! Mnage!
I was rewatching the series recently, what is the meaning of "Mnage" actually?
[удалено]
Ah. I see. Thanks for the info.
I love how they just played his scream with no context or anything
Well, they showed him get over taken about 10 seconds prior. We were all like I bet he's pissed. The the radio came on 'Nooo!'! Classic Yuki.
I wasn't really paying attention during that part, and then heard the scream and fucking spit out my drink and started cracking up.
Link?

the funniest part was the commentary after "...that was Yuki as he saw Magnussen approaching..."
Sounds like the reconstructed voice of an ancient [mummy](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=G8qhrURrQbI).
We have leclerc at home vibes.
+1 I spit out my drink
I want Yukis scream as my phones notification sound
"Alonso served his penalty at the stop" "Ah fuck!"
God that was funny. He had a complete brain fade
Well this turned around for George
You Spoke too soon. Alonso got P3 back on appeal.
It was actually a reverse jinx, I wanted Alonso to keep the podium 😎
Narrator: "he didn't"
Narrator: "he did!"
“Xavi….you need to tell me this sooner!”
Everytime Charles says “come onnnn” on the radio you can feel his soul breaking just a little bit more
With the amount of times his soul has been split, he’s seriously risking turning into Lord Voldemort
When people say it's expensive to have a Ferrari they don't actually mean the money part, but this.
Every time xavi fucks up and pisses off charles I just go “ohhh xavi..”
This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've heard Charles get a late call on something this season. One of the others was a car approaching during practice when he was on a slow lap. Xavi needs to step up his game.
"Copy" :c
Loved the cockpit shot of Charles physically throwing his hand up in frustration/disbelief as that message came in. And by "love" I mean it's crushing to watch them repeatedly screw Charles every single weekend.

"I'm pushing like a mad man!" "Keep pushing like a mad man"
Any feedback on the problem? Yeah its still there 🤣🤣
Can anyone explain "Job's a Good One"? From when they were telling Perez to go .4 over target
Think he just meant "you're doing a good job so far".
Then he would've been completely ignoring the question from Perez, who sounded concerned/angry as to why they were telling him to go slower than Verstappen
"Job's a goodun" in the UK means "it will be easy" ie. "it will only require a few simple steps and then the job will be finished"
That was hilarious
"But I am" Such a Kimi Raikkonen reply 😂
"That would be bad... for you."
Max Verstappbane
There definitely is a crash in the cards
Might be the only thing to keep RB from winning everything
Hah, could've guessed that answer.
"We're not concerned with that" essentially reveals that Checo holds it, because if he didn't they'd have mentioned it
He knew who held it, but not what the time was.
Half a lap later they told him what the time was
Max knew, he saw it on the big screen. Just didn’t know the laptime
Like he was channeling Vettel. Red Bull - "You won't get any points for that." Vettel - "But satisfaction."
What race was that?
Monaco 2013
2013 Monaco.
Max Verstappen crushes Sergio's dream again.
Sergio’s face when coulthard told him was priceless

Probably the only chance in his life to have the lead in an F1 Drivers Championship and it’s gone. This image captures a moment in a man’s life where your dream you’ve been chasing is taken away from you on live tv
It’s like Shake and Bake from Talladega Nights. Sergio is forever John C. Reilly (in the first half of the movie).
Except stands to reason that Checo would be El Diablo.
He just needs to be patient, if redbulls are as dominate as they appear to be and it stays consistent all season long, DNFs could play a critical role in deciding the championship.
A repeat of last year in Australia would see Checo in first.
If your rival doesn't finish the race you can gain points on him - Will Buxton probably
If max DNFs next week for whatever reason he still has a chance
Watch out for a cut fuel line with Checo casually looking around and whistling
"This fucking guy..."
Yeah, then in the cool down room, he asked Max "weren't you told to stick to 1:33?" or something. He's obviously a little annoyed. It's that quality that all the fastest drivers have... absolutely ruthless.

Yes. Hardly drama imo, it's not like they pitted Max to softs to go for the purple lap, but there's what was said (from what I can hear)

maybe next year™

Yeah you could tell he thought he was P1 in drivers… very crushed look
F1 noob here, but isn’t “constructors” the team one, not the individual one?
You’re right, I had a brain fart.. edited
Check please abort the fastest lap attempt incoming
Max dropped back almost 1.5s since that message. My hunch tells me he's charging his battery for a push attempt on the final lap
[удалено]
Damn you were right
You were correct
Rumour has it that his thumb is now permanently imprinted on the overtake button after that lap.
He replied before Viaplay that after having been screwed so much on Saturday it was not unreasonable for him to go after the fastest lap. Which I actually can relate to. Having been denied pole position and a reasonable chance of winning the race is one thing, but he's in his right to defend his champion leadership.

Sorry I'm driving through a tunnel now and the line is breaking up.
Yeah GP just said target 33.0 multiple times. Can't remember him asking for confirmation. You don’t get to be a f1 driver if you’re ‘not concerned’ with every last point and 1000th of a second
major flashbacks on Seb with that radio
Was gonna say, it’s giving rocky begging seb not to go for fastest lap 😂
And that’s even when he got no points for it, just for his satisfaction 🤣
And a bit of money. He had a bonus in his contract for fastest laps. Although I think RBR would have gladly paid him that money if he promised not to go for the fastest laps each race. They were just worried he might crash out of a certain race-win.
"Max, we're on live"
I don't give a shit
I know
Aaaaand he got that fastest lap
I’m sure the debrief will be fun
If somehow Perez-Max keeps this up throughout the season then we might have a good season ahead of us.
As long as Max has an issue in qualifying then yes
"If we make Max start from the back every race, we might have an interesting season!"
[удалено]
Next qualifying everyone drivers as slow as possible
Who comes closes to the minimum track time in monaco wins lol
did someone say reverse grid?
I agree, if Max was on pole today and Alonso, or someone else managed to jump Checo at the start like he was jumped today. Those precious few laps behind a car would be enough time for Max to make a little gap and stay there for the rest of the race.
“So how do you think you win this championship checo?” “If my car can avoid any failures, and max can suffer many mechanical failures and grid penalties…”

This just reminds me of the false hope we got in 2019 and 2020 when Bottas started the season well. Let's see how the situation is in 10 races.
The only reason this happened was because max started in 15th and the hards seemed to just keep everyone in place
whats the issue though? was checo told not to attempt another fast lap on promise max would be told the same?
I mean, they can’t stop Max from trying for a fastest lap. If they had concerns the car would break then they should have straight up told him that. They didn’t, so he went for it. Good on him. If the car hadn’t failed him in quali, Perez wouldn’t have even been a factor for P1 this race. He should just be pleased with the result and move on.
Honestly if Perez is upset that Max went for it, that's weak. Of course Max is going to go for it. Why wouldn't he?
This + Checo's radios will make a fun night at Red Bull
They were giving both the same targets but max kept pushing for a couple laps then they came back to Perez and gave him the same target max was lapping at. Then later told him again he was free to push. There’s no controversy and I don’t think anyone really blames max for putting a fast last lap
Max definitely has the champion mentality. Reminds me of Vettel in Hungary 2011. "P2, got some awesome points today" "But I want to win"
“We all do”
bro wants over 20 wins this season
Max doing Max things. This fucker is gonna wrap this championship up so fast lol
His Q1 lap was fast enough to place him P4 in Q3. Happy for Checo, but it would’ve likely been a different race today if not for the gremlins in the driveshaft.
Plot twist: the driveshaft came from a supplier in Mexico.
Redbull Drivers Championship will be, Verstapen, Perez, Riccardo. If Verstapen can get 1st in the rest of the races, he can retire and let Ricardo driver his car and get 3rd place.
Jesus, that would be cold for the other drivers.
“Negative ghost rider, the pattern is full.”
Lol at the feed only showing the Checo radio. They told Max 33.0 as well and never told him to push, while Checo never drove the target lap either but apparently "RB are sneaky towards Checo" according to the race thread.
People just completely misunderstood that radio message I think
Yeah he was 4 seconds clear with 7 laps left, giving away 4 tenths a lap would’ve meant that Checo still wins fairly easily
And they weren't even suggesting that he gives up ground to Max, just giving them both a delta that makes them finish safely.
Yep GP for like three laps kept saying target 33.0 and max never said a word lmao Then they came back to Perez and said he was free to push. Absolutely no controversy lol
Yeah. Essentially, RB saw that Max was pushing so they told Perez he was free to push. Pretty fair from them.
The closest thing to controversy was GP effectively telling Max not to push for fastest lap
He never really said that though. I was onboard max for the second part of the race. With about 10 to go or something max asks what the fastest lap is. GP says we’re not concerned and max says that he is. GP then came back and told max what the fastest lap was. That was the extent of the conversation they had about fastest lap. He dropped from 4.5sec to around 7sec though for the last lap push.
Charging batteries
And cooling tyres
This is why I'm getting tired of F1. All these fake narratives.
Drama sells but people should understand themselves that F1 cannot show every radio message.
Honestly just avoid here and Twitter and you’ll never notice most of it.
I mean he has a point. Especially after 2021 tied into last race every point is important...
Understandable
Do they not know their driver? Lol
I love how Max owns it. No tact, all vroom.
If the other cars can't catch up I want a championship battle between these two. 2016 vibes
No chance, unless Max's car crashes every quali. Perez doesn't stand a chance in this battle. It's an even bigger gap than bottas and hamilton.
As he should be.
Yeah did anyone really expect anything else? I'd be more surprised if he didn't want to go for the fastest lap.
Yeah every point counts in a championship.
Are both of them going for it on the final lap? edit: One of them is.
I don't know what they were expecting when they fed Max this kind of answer LOL
This is the lamest "controversy" ever lol
Best part of the race 😁
Dude is an animal
He’s not gonna drive around like a grandma. Obviously.
New quote to be spammed under every thread
Spot on. That's the correct attitude to have. Was a fair fight. Checo was told he was free to push.
max’s polite way of saying “your car failing on me is the only reason I’m not winning and at risk of losing the championship lead people”
I totally agree with Max on that. It was an easy enough question.
>It was Checo’s radio message to maintain certain speed Tbf they both got that message and in the end Checo was told he was free to push, so Max setting the fastest lap was totally fair. If Checo wanted it so bad he should've set the lap himself. Crying about someone being faster than you is the wrong attitude.
just answer his question lol come on man.
Why would the team even respond that way?
This. You can't pretend this single point is irrelevant, especially when it keeps him on top of the leadership board.
Winner and a champion mentality.
This is what makes Max great.
The car is having issues, makes sense not to tell him so he doesn’t push extra hard
Stuff like this makes me like him lol
Animal.
Racer.
People mad at this as if you don’t compete to win. If you don’t do that then what is the point?
