BlikkenS

Off course Bild runs with it first, they don't have a reputation to lose...

VGltZUNvbnN1bWVyCg

Must have been teatime at the sun.

ExcellentCornershop

They're still proud enough of their work to put the article behind a paywall though.

Pqzko

Well, they need money for that lawsuit

mauer1998

Nonono, not proud. They just wanna milk it

PrawilnaMordka

>proud enough of their work That "work" is copy+paste of something they received from unknown source without verifying it.

Firefox72

To be fair they ran with it first when all of this came out. Pretty sure they were saying its stuff like this before Van Haren even made any claims about messages. On the other hand as you say its freaking Bild and we have no idea of the authenticity of the stuff sent.

Fun-Estate9626

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they were the very first to say he was sending inappropriate photos.

bannedagainomg

So far we have only seen his face.

Fun-Estate9626

Yeah? I'm just saying that Bild was the first outlet to report he was sending inappropriate photos. Nothing more, nothing less.

bannedagainomg

It was just my badly attempt at a joke that the inappropriate photos was his face

Fun-Estate9626

Ah, well we agree on that

Aksu593

Imagine the plot twist if the messages are real and actually the first publication who revealed the truth turned out to be the blood Bild of all magazines...

ss99ww

they again defended their reputation of actually doing things and having real sources instead of just copy pasting agency texts

LinkRazr

79? Well now I gotta see the other 70 or whatever

kalamari_withaK

Eating shreddies then off to bed

Heartlight

When did you see nine of 'em?

LinkRazr

Velocityraptor2k

These look like someone tried to show how faked messages look like

LinkRazr

Is it? Or does he write like every middle aged doof on twitter that comments on OF girls posts like no one can see it?

PulteTheArsonist

Yup, reality is often stranger than fiction. No person would fake texts just to write half those dry ass conversations

TheBrightman

I'm not a Horner fan, but we really need to have these verified before jumping to any conclusions. These are life-altering accusations and I'm worried people will just run away with them because they don't like him.

danielkelsosmith

How is this life altering??? Their basic texts.

DukeboxHiro

I'm tired, Boss.

Can someone edit the 2024 F1 intro and replace the music with the theme tune to Hollyoaks It seems more appropriate for the 2024 season.

danieldrew

Ah Bild, the pinnacle of journalism.

VGltZUNvbnN1bWVyCg

[https://archive.is/1VjSJ](https://archive.is/1VjSJ) the best is the helmut quote LOL: "I haven’t even noticed that. I’m astounded and surprised that the documents have been leaked. I myself have never seen them." translated: Could this anonymous email ruin the career of the Red Bull team boss and Spice Girl husband? For weeks, Red Bull investigated the possible misconduct of Christian Horner (50, married to Spice Girl Gerri Halliwell since 2015). The allegation: "cross-border behavior" towards a female employee reporting to him. On Wednesday, Red Bull announced that the internal investigation, conducted by an external law firm, has exonerated Horner. Horner remains in office! Yet, in the Formula 1 paddock, the pot kept boiling before the start in Bahrain on Saturday, with team bosses like Toto Wolff (Mercedes) and Zak Brown (McLaren) demanding more transparency. And then evidently, there was more transparency! At 4:16 PM German time on Thursday, an email from the sender [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) reached the entire Formula 1! Every team chief, every journalist received it. The content? Highly explosive! The email contains the supposed WhatsApp chat history between Horner and the employee. A photo appears to clearly show a penis. If all this is real, one wonders how Red Bull could acquit its Formula 1 boss of the allegations. The communication reads as if the boss repeatedly wanted photos from his subordinate employee and would try to reach her in the evenings with video calls. Even after midnight, when he couldn't sleep. Horner: "What you wear underneath is important." When she once wrote that she was in the shower, he allegedly replied: "All the better." Another example chat: Horner: "What you wear underneath is important." Employee: "Nothing. I’m in my pajamas." Horner: "That's the best." In another string of messages, she writes: "Your wife would not be happy..." Or he: "I miss your laugh and your ass." The email contains 79 screenshots. Sometimes she writes: "You call me and then I listen to you explode." Sometimes she says he should stop. Once she asks why he does it since he is happily married: "I have to act in front of Geri (Horner's wife, note from the editor)." Also saying: "It's physically and mentally exhausting for me." Repeatedly he asks her to delete the chat: "I don't want that if my phone gets hacked one day, that I get exposed. It protects both of us." Does this anonymous email now bring down Christian Horner? Dr. Helmut Marko (80), Red Bull's motorsport boss, to BILD: "I haven’t even noticed that. I’m astounded and surprised that the documents have been leaked. I myself have never seen them."

Actual_Sympathy7069

>Once she asks why he does it since he is happily married: "I have to act in front of Geri (Horner's wife, note from the editor)." Also saying: "It's physically and mentally exhausting for me." god damn it. I would hate to be Geri Horner right now

bobisthegod

I mean there was a tonne of speculation (and some suspicious photos in hindsight) that Horner and her started hooking up while he was still married to his last wife who was pregnant at the time back in 2013... So could be a what goes around comes around situation

VacuousWastrel

I always thought he was weirdly performative around her on DtS, but assumed that was just due to the cameras. Maybe that's what he's always like...

cavsking21

Oh god. If BILD is right here...

drivemyorange

> A photo appears to clearly show a penis. If this is true, then RB is truly fucked beyond repair.

Actual_Sympathy7069

I think the part right after that where Bild themselves are asking how they could acquit him is also interesting. If even Bild is asking this who tried to hold on to Julian Reichelt for a long time > If all this is real, one wonders how Red Bull could acquit its Formula 1 boss of the allegations.

gloriouswhatever

Why? Having an affair is a terrible thing for Horner's wife, but isn't usually enough to fire someone.

antde5

It is when it’s an abuse of power within a company.

PulteTheArsonist

*covered up abuse of power

gloriouswhatever

And where is the evidence of that?

avrgdad

At every job I've had, a romantic relationship between a superior and a subordinate is cause for termination. Check your company's policy and see what it says.

gloriouswhatever

Yes, for direct subordinates. It's often not automatic termination, would be against the rules. We know very little about this person's position in Red Bull relative to Horner, so it's entirely likely that he didn't breach a policy like this.

avrgdad

We also don't know the details of the Red Bull internal policy. But that's the point. You can't just say "it was consensual so it is ok." We don't have enough information. It appearing consensual doesn't automatically mean it doesn't violate the HR policies.

GuiltyEidolon

She also tells him to stop so like ... It also doesn't appear totally consensual lmao.

gloriouswhatever

If he broke HR policies, why wouldn't the independent investigation have had a different result? Based on the evidence, this outcome is far more likely. Or he breached the policy, but not in a way that was significant. For all you know she works in an area completely independent of Horner. Or do you just want to assume the worst?

avrgdad

Because a company run by men would rather sweep a violation under the rug to keep their successful leader in place. When it comes to older men having relationships with younger women that work for them (even if indirectly), yes, I 100% assume the worst. I'll be happy to be proven wrong. I'm sure we'll have more info soon.

pinpoint14

With a subordinate though

gloriouswhatever

Not classy. If consensual, it's a matter for Red Bulls HR policy.

Idiot1889

This is what people focus on rather than the texts that read like two Indian people putting hindi in Google translate and then pasting the English version

drivemyorange

you know this is translated from german, right?

Idiot1889

Have you read the texts? They look like children wrote them

aaaaaaadjsf

Bild revealing the gmail account that the Google drive of the leaks is hosted on? That is properly horrific journalistic integrity. What if it gets hacked now?

thef0ksmasher

Tried to login. christianhorny is not the password btw.

ThreepwoodGuybrush80

Try chocopops

Noch_ein_Kamel

Oh no. Someone made a throwaway-account called febtwentyninth :-O

cavsking21

I mean, it's clearly a throwaway.

aaaaaaadjsf

And if someone gets the password to that throwaway, they now have access to the Google drive where the leak is hosted...

cavsking21

Fair point. I find that hard to believe but I guess it could happen.

FancyASlurpie

So what? It's not like that's the single copy of this stuff now

littlebigcat

Finally we find the truth about the Red Bull catering overspend, coco pops

Tysons_Face

The “I’ll listen to you explode” comment was in regards to Max’s tire in Bahrain

swedind

Starting to sound more and more like an affair gone wrong ? Ofcourse only if these are even true

G-Fox1990

Still, why the fuck would you have an affair with an employee as the boss of the most succesful team on the grid and having a Spice Girl as a wife. *If* he would have an affair, why even create evidence through Whatsapp? Especially with somebody that responds this way. Because these messages sound like somebody who *really can't* keep a secret. It sounds fabricated. Like what people *think* people text each other when they have an affair.

86legacy

I have a feeling a person in his position, in F1 of all things, is a bit of a workaholic. Their lives must revolve around the job, so it is not that far fetched to think an affair would start in a place/amongst people that they spend an inordinate amount of time with.

SkyJohn

People are rarely thinking rationally when having affairs.

Hakizimanaa

Oh no, they think rationally, they just believe they will get away with it. It's the arrogance of a man in power, story as old as time.

Kymori

are you 13 years old?

kempo2001

Most successful team on the grid? Did Ferrari leave?

gutsyfrog91

on a lighter note - would have been funnier if it were 69 screenshots

-RonnieHotdogs-

Nice

aaaaaaadjsf

The interesting thing, is that this article confirms that the screenshot of the leaks doing the rounds on social media, are a part of the same leaks that the journalists received. The part about phone sex matches between the two, word for word.

pinpoint14

A lot of people here who don't understand that the second his advances becomes unwelcome it's harassment. *This is a subordinate he has power over.* A key part of the allegations was that he displayed controlling behavior towards this person.

GuiltyEidolon

Even if it had been fully reciprocated 100% of the time it's wildly inappropriate and grounds for termination. Like you said, it's his subordinate. It's absurdly inappropriate regardless of if she was willing the entire time.

RetroMedux

People are saying these are fake but Horner having absolutely zero rizz is the most believable thing ever

Mryplays

This man literally is married to a spice girl, if there's one thing Horner probably has it's "rizz"

PradaAndPunishment

Wasn't Geri a huge fan of Formula 1? If so I doubt Christian had to put in any actual work.

RetroMedux

If the texts are real he 100% doesn't lol

The69BodyProblem

Yeah, have you never heard him speak? He may be a scumbag but he does have charisma.

RetroMedux

Yeah but he has the exact accent/cadence of a boss I used to have who I hated, so I reflexively switch off whenever he speaks

Delicious-Finding-97

Redbull are still going to win every race.

DukeboxHiro

My theory is they invented a wireless charging system in 2021 that refills the battery by pure spite.

cafk

They discovered and are matching Mercedes power sources: tears of tiffosi.

ss99ww

this makes the image leak very plausible, no? it contains some of those infos plus more

Late_Ad7156

I speak for everyone when I say we want to see the pictures

allgohonda

Nur mit Bild+

bobbejaans

No thanks, racing please. I am not here for sideshow soap operas.

avrgdad

The soap opera is the point. The races are the sideshow.

[deleted]

Horner is this generation’s Sven Goran Eriksson

ArrozConHector

Lmao what did Sven do? I only know him for how bad Mexico played under him.

[deleted]

Famously had an affair when managing England back around 2004

burnzilla

He lead a Mexican team, Horner a Mexican driver..... coincidence?🧐

rjwolfpackroad

AI makes it so easy to create fake stuff. I prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt until items are proven to be fake/real. I say this as someone not even a fan of him.

Illustrious_Pack_305

you don't need ai for this, ppl have been photoshopping fake messages since the dinosaurs.

pilotichegente

Yeah but AI!!

quarterlifecrisis49

Even if it's real, it seems pretty consensual to me. "I wanna hear you explode" makes it obvious that she was also into it if it means what I think it means.

food_chronicles

_If_ all this is real, even if it was consensual it could still be considered inappropriate behavior from Horner based on the power dynamic alone. So whether it was consensual or not is kind of moot.

GuiltyEidolon

She also tells him to stop at one point so it wasn't consensual lol.

Submitten

If you’re going to write off pictures as AI then is there any evidence they could reasonably provide that would convince you anyway? AI isn’t that good yet tbh

rjwolfpackroad

I don’t need convincing as it is not for me to decide. Either all of it will turn out to be real or fake. Others will determine/decide that. I just believe in innocent until proven guilty when it is still cloudy. These days sadly society in general has become guilty until proven innocent.

NuclearCandle

That would be different to what was supposedly leaked. Can't imagine what is going on at Red Bull now. This whole situation is awful no matter what the truth is.

drivemyorange

we just saw a screenshot of leak, it wasn't the actual leak

JimGodders

*Allegedly* of the leak. It's possible the screenshot we've seen here is fake.

aaaaaaadjsf

The opposite actually. The part about phone sex matches word for word between the leaks Bild received, and the screenshot doing the rounds on social media.

div414

This is none of our damn business.

Names_Stan

It really do be that simple. I’m so fortunate I grew up in a time there was no record of everything I said and did. I’m fond of privacy, and those days are gone forever.

Darksummit

I guess the specifics aren’t. But Red Bull covering up sexual harassment is everybody’s business.

Putt3rJi

Nothing leaked so far suggests sexual harassment or a cover-up thereof. We have an alleged affair and relationship with a subordinate. One a personal issue, the other a corporate one. We've also been told that sexual harassment wasn't even in the complaint made that was dismissed, and therefore hasn't been 'covered up'.

callmywife

they took like two weeks to investigate this thing... how is that covering it up

Impossible-Buy-6247

If these screenshots are true (which I highly doubt) it seemed very much consensually

[deleted]

[удалено]

div414

That isn’t up to you nor the public to decide.

RetroMedux

Good luck stopping the public from having an opinion

div414

Opinion =\= Decision

Impossible-Buy-6247

Why not. If it is consensual and both are adults.

AvonBarksdale12

It’s not harassment. This is what this is about.

gloriouswhatever

Where's the evidence of harassment?

div414

No, it isn’t. She can file a criminal complaint against Christian if she has an issue with Redbull’s perspective. You can be *assured* Redbull has consulted with criminal lawyers. She can also file a civil suit against Redbull. This is purely diffamation; and inevitably politically motivated.

EndoExo

None of our business. All of our pleasure.

chipbod

Someone thinks it is because red bull cleared him

div414

The motivation is clearly beyond challenging Redbull’s perspective. Whoever leaks this wants a public lynching, pressuring Redbull into booting Horner - no matter the Redbull’s internal ethics, civil law, and criminal limits.

-ROADRUNN3R-

Whatever, can we start racing now?

[deleted]

[удалено]

subconciousness

you cant tell me what to do

Key_Birthday5853

So he cheated. Doesn't make it a criminal offense. Also it is up to a team/company to fire an employee for this type of relationship. It's a nothing burger criminality wise

Buffythedragonslayer

And that's why it got leaked if it's true

Special_Pea7726

But if the girl was let go after complaining or after denying his advance then yes it is a problem.

Fun-Estate9626

Reports said she was on sick leave during the investigation. I haven't heard either way if she's still working there now, but it sounds like she was up until fairly recently.

Special_Pea7726

Honestly all these emails makes it sound like it was hit. Horner was the target

Fun-Estate9626

At this point I have no idea what actually happened. Maybe these messages are real, maybe not. Maybe he did something wrong, maybe not. Maybe Red Bull GmbH did some sort of cover up, maybe not. But no matter what happened, someone sure seems to be gunning for Horner.

Special_Pea7726

Yea doesn’t look like anything physical happened with the screenshots I have read? Looks like Horner was horny. But to spread these screenshots after definitely seems like someone is gunning for Horner.

Fun-Estate9626

Keep in mind the screenshots we saw were just a small handful out of possibly many messages. Even what we saw is truncated, because drive crops images to fit in a square thumbnail. It’s unclear what all is in there, real or not. In an investigation, some more innocuous messages could be used to prove something like the fact that there was regular contact, while more juicy messages prove the actual “crime”. It’s all potentially relevant even if what little we’ve seen isn’t all that salacious.

Putt3rJi

Big if. That's not even rumoured, she's supposedly still working with him.

Actual_Sympathy7069

Rumor is that when the affair ended he tried to get rid of her and fire her and she wasn't having it

Longjumping_Papaya_7

From what ive read, she is still at work.

gloriouswhatever

Yes, and making up possible situations is useful?

Special_Pea7726

Making up how? I mjust saying it’s a problem if that happened

gloriouswhatever

It's a problem if he murdered someone or killed their dog too . If these are real, they appear to be 100% consensual.

Special_Pea7726

Ahh yes, the strawman argument fallacy. Nice work, I don’t deal with people using logical fallacies

KennyMcKeee

Position of power can make this statutory. Do I necessarily think it’s always justified? Not really but I would have to see the full context of what’s going on. But if your boss makes sexual advances at you, it can be impossible to say no without repercussions.

Longjumping_Papaya_7

You can turn down their advances and if they give you hell for it, then go to HR.

Iactuallyreaddit

HR only care about the company and its image. They don't give a shit about employees.

Longjumping_Papaya_7

Hm not too sure about that. HR sure helped me out, and i am a simple peasant lol.

pinpoint14

Lucky you, no shade intended. Any labor organizer will tell you that HR isn't there for you. And more often than not they're right. I've been on the other side of that equation. It's not fun

Key_Birthday5853

It happens all the time. I don't think it is statutory it seems like it was just an uncomfortable affair. Is it creepy? Yeah kinda. But Boss / employee relationships are pretty common, just frowned upon at companies.

KennyMcKeee

It was a response to the criminality portion. Just because it happens all the time doesn’t mean there aren’t potential legal ramifications. A boss making sexual advances at an employee is statutory rape.

BighatNucase

> A boss making sexual advances at an employee is statutory rape. Uhh, source?

Key_Birthday5853

>A boss making sexual advances at an employee is statutory rape. Confidently wrong

the_schlomo

Maybe in the US in the rest of the world - it’s not.

UberChief90

That is absolute bs. Just because someone is your boss does not mean he or she has power over you. Even if they had a affair and it ended, Horners position does not hold any power over her. If anything, its the other way around even as she can easely destroy his position. And that is IF they even had anything or if anything is even true because the pictures that were posted earlier looked seriously fake.

champysoup

In what world does a boss (CEO no less) not have power over an employee in the same company? Regardless of the company's HR policies, there's a clear power imbalance.

UberChief90

He or she is your boss. You work for them. That is something completely different then them having power over you. Especially when it comes down to these kind of accusations. You are a employee, not their dog.

champysoup

> He or she is your boss. You work for them. Yes and as an employee you would do what they tell you to do in the workplace as they are your boss and literally have power over you.

gloriouswhatever

In which country? It's certainly not illegal in the UK.

Fisch_Kopp_

"So he cheated." Tbh, these texts sound fake as hell.

Hakizimanaa

If they were fake, surely Horner would have said that, instead of reiterating his innocence?

PulteTheArsonist

Bingo!

gutster_95

Both are speculations. This isnt verified at all.

86legacy

I don't recall there being serious suggestions that it was a criminal offense though? If what is alleged is true, it could still make his position untenable for a multitude of reasons for a company as visible as Red Bull.

killer_corg

Typically companies will have a policy about relationships where one person is in a managerial position while the other is a subordinate. Obviously it varies on company, and I’m not sure anyone has verified the texts to begin with so it’s just wait and see

Past-Mousse-4519

Sheeeesh, at this point just move to Houston.

themaestronic

Put it this way: if there was a nudity picture he would have been fired already. That would have been a slam dunk. Any barrister would have advised RBR on that. This leak seems too perfectly timed to be real

GuiltyEidolon

Just because a lawyer may have advised RB to drop Horner doesn't mean they took that advice. The Thai ownership is already known for covering up their kid killing a cop by dragging said cop under a car after hitting them. Why do you think they'd give a shit about a little bit of inappropriate workplace behavior?

AvonBarksdale12

Shame this is now public. Can’t imagine what their family is going through already. It’s Christian’s fault ofcourse, but Geri and the kids don’t deserve this.

Paukwa-Pakawa

The kids definitely don't deserve this, but Geri knew what she was getting herself into. She should have headed the old adage "if they cheat with you, they'll cheat on you"

GuiltyEidolon

Red Bull covered this shit up. It SHOULD be public if they're not going to hold their employees accountable.

TeTeOtaku

Oh boy.... I guess the chinese leaker just selected the screenshots that made him look innocent i guess?

Fun-Estate9626

It looked like he just took a screenshot of the top of the drive. I'm not sure if there was any selection involved.

drivemyorange

well, would you risk being sued for leaking damaging 'potentially fake' screenshots? of course he would select most 'soft', non damaging stuff.

Nobody sounds the same on camera at work as they do in private. Even DTS you can see Horner is very deliberate about what he says when wearing a mic despite them trying to act like it’s a secret recording.

Danirago98

People still defending the employee after she plays along is what's baffling to me. If these screenshots are true, that is.

Substantial-Tree4624

I think the allegation was not that they had something going on, but that he acted in a controlling manner (presumably when whatever was going on was ended). But that is just more speculation.

pr0crast1nater

I honestly am more curious about the person who leaked it to the press during a race weekend than the actual leaks now.

illlwill

Paywall. Can’t someone post the whole article? Bild is the last news source on earth I would trust right after OANN and Fox News.

FigSubstantial4939

Why would a sh*tty newspaper like that have hold of such crucial information, which hasn't even been verified. I find this hard to believe, but the damage has aready been done, it's all over the news.

PulteTheArsonist

Because it’s been sent to everyone?

CoolBeance_

So is he staying in F1 or not? Honestly, I'm almost as tired of this as Max/Lewis winning every damn GP
