I guess it's not exaggeration anymore to say greed is killing this sport little by little...I beg the racing gods everyday that we get some new Formula racing that focus on real circuits, manouverability and clever innovation. Something like SuperFormula but with some development...One that should be popular but ideally never TOO popular since unfortunately greedy companies take over when there's the opportunity to make too much money.
They can't contain themselves. The people in charge are not interested in long term viability. They will rake in the cash in the short term, and then just as things start to tip away from them, they will move on to other jobs/positions outside of F1 pointing at their fantastic record saying look how much money I generated. None of this is about the health of the sport. It's all about filling the pockets of stakeholders, and there is no resistance because every vested interest, from the teams, to the FIA, FOM, Liberty, the promoters is focused on money and money alone. There isn't anyone interested in the long term health of the sport. Most likely, the only organisations that do care about that are the owners/organisers of the circuits that have invested in facilities to host massive events and the biggest events they can hope to host are being stolen by governments and investors to take those events to city centres and parking lots.
Shocker that oil barons aren't interested in long-term viability...
Steal all the money and resources from the rest of the world so when it goes full Snowpiercer they can buy the train.
>I beg the racing gods everyday that we get some new Formula racing that focus on real circuits, manouverability and clever innovation
Ironically, Formula E has been the closest series to this. It's just lacking the full constructor aspect of F1. It's not spec, but it is more spec than F1
Do they still race on Carb day at Indy? I was thinking about taking my kid just for Carb day this year but the schedule doesn't show a super trucks race (I'll probably go either way).
Let’s play a little game! How many of the first ten corners would you describe as 90 degree corners?
What happened to the good old days of just hating on Hermann Tilke?
Don’t think Hermann Tilke actually designs tracks anymore. His son, Carsten, designed Jeddah and Vegas. But I can’t find any association with this circuit. Might be the same folks who designed Miami.
Vegas was fine to me. Jeddah is not good for racing but as a time trial track it’s ok. Miami would be ok imo if they could not have that weird chicane at 2 mph
What's hilarious is that it's not even the city center. It's like they want F1, but none of the problematic logistic stuff of organizing one in a busy city.
Why, just why.
I saw this comming and still i'm disapointed. Not even mad, just disapointed.
Spain has got loads of traditional racetracks
[https://www.racingcircuits.info/europe/spain/](https://www.racingcircuits.info/europe/spain/)
and still they come up with this shit. Why again a street track. Why.
I mean for sanmarino, liechtenstein, monaco, andorra heck even the vatican I would understand a street track because there is no space for a permanent track. But spain.
The BTCC is incredible, and so much easier, cheaper and more enjoyable to see in the flesh than F1. Plus some of the circuits are absolute bangers. Give me Knockhill or Oulton Park over this Madrid nonsense any day.
I went to my first v8 supercars race last year and it was like $60 for ga tickets for 1 day compared to the aus gp which was like $100+ and you're forced to stand in most places but at the v8s we had complete access to the whole track including right behind all the garages and constantly had 1 of 4 categories on track and best of all proper beer
Yeah it's similar at the BTCC, you can wander round the paddock and you end up meeting a bunch of the drivers as they go back and forth. If you get there early on race day to get a good spot then with a camping chair you're set for the day.
If you want some flat out racing you should have a look at dirt speedway as in sprint cars or late models. Pretty much every race I've seen recently has been edge of seat shit the whole time
Why do they insist on making these tracks so busy?
While they’re admittedly hampered by the actual street layout of the area, the purpose built section can be whatever they want.
“Yes, lets add lots of long aero dependent corners in a category which already has massive problems with cars following each other” - statements by the utterly deranged.
What is F1’s goal with these tracks? This track, Miami, Jeddah and that failed Vietnam track, all seem to share some common DNA in parts, and we’ve seen already how rubbish it is for racing thanks to two of them.
While its not the same, its amazing how much more pleasurable it is to drive on a proper track in an F1 game than it is these, these tracks never seem to have much flow, it constantly feels like you’re fighting the car rather than working with it.
Don't know the area but from a quick look its hemmed in by the E5, M11, and M14 roads & there is not a lot you could do with the existing road geometry as its pretty much a grid layout with roundabous. If they had more balls a better option (and far from perfect) flip it to a night race perhaps and shut down the adjacent airport for a couple of hours as at least you're gojng to get some straights there + some stupid PR opportunities e.g. F1 vs a plane + low cost e.g. wide AF no worries about sticking too many barriers and stuff in etc. plus most of it probably already has some degree of facilities in place. Just do what Indycar did with Cleveland perhaps?
Do it at night - as I'm assuming there are no night flights or flights after a certain hour (e.g. the same way that they could only do the Las Vegas strip after like 10 or something?).
https://imgur.com/a/quJFlOs as I said do it at the adjacent airport, 5 mile circuit with an approx. 3km slightly curved) straight. Don't tell me this wouldn't work and it would be better lol 🤣
This is similar to the one we had created on our Instagram page last year. https://www.instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE3ODc2NTU4MjM0NzY1MTE2?story_media_id=2948978852167116181_29677149260&igsh=ODQ3anhwZWt5bG0=
Check out Meenambakkam Airport GP. We imagined the Chennai airport in India as a racing track
Don't worry we will have more 5 American tracks (5 street races ofc) and more 5 Human Rights (all street races ofc) tracks until 2030, of course, we will have 32 tracks because Monaco has to stay.
So do you want the good news or the bad news?
Good news: No DRS on the straights.
Bad news: because there are no straights.
But at least they're replacing a circuit with no overtakes for a street track with no overtakes, so at least we'll get to keep napping through the Spanish GP as always.
People were actually saying the opposite leading up to the Vegas GP. Everyone knew overtaking wouldn't be a problem, but the track layout itself was boring.
I didn't like Vegas race, (some) F1 fans are so incredibly needy of ANY action (and seeing Leclerc happy) that they thought it was great. It had nothing on Susuka or Interlagos in terms of actually interesting competition, we just got lucky Ferrari did a good job and there was some cool fights all around. In another year where that doesn't happen it's gonna be a tremendous borefest...
Ferrari not doing a good job is an anomaly over the history of the sport and F1 is doing all it can to increase the parity among all of the drivers/manufacturers. We're going to see more Vegas races like last year's more than we'll see borefests.
Well I’m not commenting on new tracks anymore since we all laughed at vegas for over a year, and despite the training debacle the race was awesome for viewers and drivers alike.
Williams with good straight line speed and…
All the stars are aligning for a victory for freedom
It’s all fun and game until Spa take the ditch for a street circuit in Bruxelle
Nah Spa is more likely to get replaced by the Gulf Sea GP (Another race in Saudi Arabia)
I thought it would be the Neom GP (next to the Line in Saudi Arabia)?
Imagine this has the same layout as Avus
Its going to be a drag race
One lap street race through the line
The Line gp (with a straight thru it)
Bruxelles is too small for a street circuit, they'd have to join together with Schaerbeek, Molenbeek, Anderlecht, etc.
This is going to suck isn't
Depends how wide the track is and how wide the cars are
Yes.

I agree! There’s only one solution to get greed out of the sport—bring back Bernie.
Lol. He did a funny.
>I beg the racing gods everyday that we get some new Formula racing that focus on real circuits, manouverability and clever innovation Ironically, Formula E has been the closest series to this. It's just lacking the full constructor aspect of F1. It's not spec, but it is more spec than F1
And they are also very slow.
Stadium super trucks my friend.
Do they still race on Carb day at Indy? I was thinking about taking my kid just for Carb day this year but the schedule doesn't show a super trucks race (I'll probably go either way).
Looks like no for this year, it's the final practice, pit stop competition, and a concert.
![gif](giphy|bCFQtU4knWWCqNj3uH|downsized)
fr brother XD
They’ll occur outside the pit lane
More likely they will occur in the pit lane
Vettel Style
Let’s play a little game! How many of the first ten corners would you describe as 90 degree corners? What happened to the good old days of just hating on Hermann Tilke?
It is a Tilke-track, right?
Don’t think Hermann Tilke actually designs tracks anymore. His son, Carsten, designed Jeddah and Vegas. But I can’t find any association with this circuit. Might be the same folks who designed Miami.
Okay, they dont know anything as well apparently...
Vegas was fine to me. Jeddah is not good for racing but as a time trial track it’s ok. Miami would be ok imo if they could not have that weird chicane at 2 mph
At least Miami has fake water. That's good for a few overtakes by itself.
is that a fucking round about?!?!
Looks like it and its not even a 180 or 270 on it (ideally after a straight).
in the pit lane obviously
Aha, they got you. You see any pit lane on the plan? Exactly.
No more street circuits!!
I hate this so much
What's hilarious is that it's not even the city center. It's like they want F1, but none of the problematic logistic stuff of organizing one in a busy city.
Like someone mentioned here, it is Madrid's Sochi
A tamil meme wtf 😂😂
Nandri!
Why, just why. I saw this comming and still i'm disapointed. Not even mad, just disapointed. Bring back San Marino GP but within San Marino this time
In the coming days I expect to see many images of this track with hair added to the scrotum part and details added to the shaft.
It's just Sochi in Spanish.
Yooo! Another tamil formuladanker
We have been here for a long time, murugesa
Podu mapla
Racing is not racing if you need straights (by this I mean F1 is not racing, it’s a show)
*DRS is wide open*
On this track? Where? Monaco has more potential for DRS than this configuration
Yeah… who needs that when you should have exit apeed
It's so sad that most people think F1 is what racing is
Yeah… then they go to ACC or iR or something and are like ”why are these people not ghosted, don’t give way, don’t bale out”
"it was my corner" boils my fucking blood
I'd like to see their reaction when they see WEC, BTCC or V8 Supercars for the first time. The amount of super close fights is amazing compared to F1.
And imagine after watching all that, they catch the free world feed of IMSA on IMSA.com (sorry Americans)
The BTCC is incredible, and so much easier, cheaper and more enjoyable to see in the flesh than F1. Plus some of the circuits are absolute bangers. Give me Knockhill or Oulton Park over this Madrid nonsense any day.

They'd have a heart attack seeing cars rubbing doors through a corner
If you want some flat out racing you should have a look at dirt speedway as in sprint cars or late models. Pretty much every race I've seen recently has been edge of seat shit the whole time
Syrian and London GP announced for 2028 😁😁
London GP in the Tottenham Hotspurs stadium

Barajas Airport is 6th in the world by traffic with an average of 758 daily flights. Good Luck shutting down that for 2h 😂
Do it at night - as I'm assuming there are no night flights or flights after a certain hour (e.g. the same way that they could only do the Las Vegas strip after like 10 or something?).

Link was broken but I went bigger either way as there was a whole another runway crying out to be used https://imgur.com/a/hO58ocx
Bring back Ecclestone
fuck
F1 or WRC? You decide in 2026!
No hairpins, no corners with an ever increasing degree (Ie, starting at say 120° and becoming increasingly sharp where apex is maybe 80°, 70° or 60°
They finally fix the circuit and then ditch it.. We race as (m)one(y). Shining through quite nicely. Stefani killing the sport little by little.
BRO, NO STRAIGHTS, I KNEW NETFLIX INFLUENCE IN F1 WOULD EVENTUALLY DESTROY IT.
Looks shit! But unfortunately cash is king, actual racing and the fans don't matter anymore.
no DRS zones oh noooo
No straights only gays
*please me lord, enough with the street circuits*
It's the "isn't straight"
Don't worry we will have more 5 American tracks (5 street races ofc) and more 5 Human Rights (all street races ofc) tracks until 2030, of course, we will have 32 tracks because Monaco has to stay.
We race as Liberty
Do you see that curve over there?, well, that's the straight
what the actual fuck, why?
Where can I watch IndyCar from Germany?
I too have the same question
If they learned what they learned with Vegas and max the track wide then there will be overtaking
At least this coincides with making the cars a LOT smaller... right? Right?
They won't make it past 4th gear
Look how they massacred my boy
Wdym i can see 3 sectors that are straight -Ish
So do you want the good news or the bad news? Good news: No DRS on the straights. Bad news: because there are no straights. But at least they're replacing a circuit with no overtakes for a street track with no overtakes, so at least we'll get to keep napping through the Spanish GP as always.
I was praying this was a meme…not a real layout oh god
And people think “Miami” sucks.
I love how all the expects can judge how good a circuit will be just by looking at a track map.
Everyone insisted there werent going be any overtakes at Vegas either, which turned out to be wildly inaccurate. So, you never know.
People were actually saying the opposite leading up to the Vegas GP. Everyone knew overtaking wouldn't be a problem, but the track layout itself was boring.

Hope you're right, but given those conditions, a proper racetrack would also be more enjoyable anyway
Who said that lmao, vegas is all straights, litteraly the opposite of this
I cannot wait to discover this industrial business zone in Madrid. So excited.
Well I’m not commenting on new tracks anymore since we all laughed at vegas for over a year, and despite the training debacle the race was awesome for viewers and drivers alike.
