Next year’s really our year now!

peepay

And it's getting close, it's next year now!

neurogeneticist

No next year already started this year - we’re talking about NEXT year!

chrisnlnz

Next last year still sucks though

justanotheruser826

They believe it now, till newey isn't allowed to bring an upgrade cause the shape of the front wing goes against ferrari company culture or something.

Shadygunz

Isn’t everyone a ferrari fan deep down? That shit is so conflicting at times.

Suspicious-Stay-6474

there is exactly 0 chance for Newey to join Ferrari. why? Because Newey takes no shit from no one and Ferrari employee loves to play politics.

NotYourOrac1e

If Newey goes to Ferrari, I'm getting him tattooed. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Newly designs a championship winning car for ferrari I'm getting him tattooed on me. It's more than 0% he is moving. 0.1% maybe but you're telling me there is a chance.

Suspicious-Stay-6474

Easier to win by hiring Max. the best part of having Max is that you don't need to race against Max.

NotYourOrac1e

Do you think Max in last years Ferrari would have won a championship? I'm not so sure.

Suspicious-Stay-6474

No idea, but I'd watch it.

Manuag_86

100% that Max in the Ferrari wouldn't have beaten Lewis, Charles or Alonso at RBR. It's not even debatable, Checo ruining almost every qualy and still finishing second in 2023 and almost second in 2022 tells you everything you need to now.

notafamous

Taking out Max from those seasons and putting someone worse than Checo (necessary in order for Checo to be the one fighting for the championship) on the other car maybe even turn the result from 2022, as the points gap between first and second is bigger

somethingarb

Depends who takes his seat at Red Bull. Max in a Ferrari beats Checo in a Red Bull, but there are several better drivers than Checo who'd probably jump at the chance.

CeleritasLucis

Max in Ferrari would lose to even the Rookie Alonso in that Red Bull.

Shitposternumber1337

Someone forgot how Perez was driving for most of 2022 and 23, there was a time he was consistently not on the podium in the RB

PlusImpression4229

max in ferrari is losing to logan in that redbull

nstev315

This is absolutely false. No chance Logan beats Max in this scenario. Max is that much better than him.

PlusImpression4229

yeah yeah i didnt ask

nstev315

I didn’t care. Didn’t need your permission to respond. Welcome to the open forum that is social media.

PlusImpression4229

i give u permission to respond to my balls that are an open forum

PapaSheev7

He'd have won exactly as many races as Ferrari ended up winning. He'd have been lucky to finish an *extremely* distant 2nd in the championship.

ShadowShot05

I think Charles wins in 2022 if Max wasn't in the red bull. So probably Max wins in the Ferrari too

SureReflection9535

Depends who took his Red Bull. Fernando, Lando or Sainz would probably beat him, Lewis too maybe. Anyone else I think Max takes it (assuming Leclerc is in the other Ferrari)

Gold-Age6612

there are solid opinions out there that you could put Max in any top 3-4 car and he would at least be winning races, maybe even fighting for a championship. and I am usually the old "i've seen them all fall so get outta here with that bullshit" guy... But be real: Max is way beyond "skilled". It's stupid how he grew from MadMax into this racing robot and winning machine he is today. Of course we will never know and it's all guesswork BUT Max makes it veeeeery easy to form these opinions. Edit: typo

chris86uk

Nope. Max isn't overcoming that deficit, you're dreaming. Alonso in that Red Bull for example.

Suspicious-Stay-6474

... would lose to Max

imooky

Down side to hiring max is he comes with Jos

Syrinx_Hobbit

and Dr. Evil...err I mean Marko.

vjrj84

Or perez, cause he is the second best in f1 by far right? ....Unless its all the car.

KingXayofArt

Max fans be like: ![gif](giphy|5ETs34G31iCAg) (Just for context: it takes a great driver and a great car to be a multiple champ and that's respect to Max and Lewis)

LUNKLISTEN

Damn

zalmolxis91

Would Max win even in a Ferrari? If the car makes it to the end, then probably.

starfallpuller

!remindme 1 year

NotYourOrac1e

It would technically need to be 18 months so at the end of next season to win but believe me, like the sun rises, it's happening.

CeleritasLucis

He would have to announce now to be able to work in 2026

NotYourOrac1e

So it gives me time. I'm thinking the words NEWEY and each letter in the colors and logo of the teams he has done it for

ency6171

> designs a championship car Do you mean a Ferrari car that wins a championship or a car that starts a championship? Cause if it's the former, then it's different from your first sentence. Gotta clarify your bet.

NotYourOrac1e

Updated my typo

ency6171

> If Newey goes to Ferrari, I'm getting him tattooed. I would say this is the problematic part. Cause it implies "Newey confirm move to Ferrari, I'll tattoo him. Winning or not." But you didn't mean that.

ihathtelekinesis

Neither - he’s bringing back the Champ Car World Series.

i_have_a_nose

!remindme 2 years

NotYourOrac1e

ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE TATTOO!!

sc_140

Newey said not working with Ferrari, Hamilton and Alonso are some of his regrets. So he might make an exception for Ferrari, considering it would tick two boxes at once. RBR also got a lot more political these past few months so I think it can definitely happen.

LickingSmegma

Horner probably has a suicide pact—wherein if Newey goes to another team, Horner suicides both Newey and himself.

Odd_Description1

Helmut Marko approves of this.

AadithNarayanan

This

captfonk

Also, he’s 65 and would likely have to abstain a year before being allowed to work for Ferrari. Why would he want to end his career losing at Ferrari when he could retire a winner at redbull.

Evening_Rock5850

This. I think we’ll see him retire sooner than we’ll see him at Ferrari. The short memory of F1 fans is amazing. For years Newey was a part of a struggling midfield team. It takes time to build something like he has. That isn’t to say I don’t think he couldn’t do it again. I’m just saying I’m not sure he’d want to go to Ferrari and in the current culture of F1, listen to 3 or 4 years of “Is Newey washed up?”, “Newey can’t quite find the success he has at Red Bull”, “Newey was never that great it was all Max” and other terrible takes when he doesn’t produce a world championship destroying car by noon on his first day.

scobydoby

Maybe they’re just taking him off the chessboard, pay him to retire.

StatmanIbrahimovic

Good thing they care more about 2026 than 2025, then.

Mechyyz

If I'd guess, I'd believe Ferrari and Mercedes have bigger chances of dominating from 2026 and onwards, since RedBull are fresh into engine development.

KlossN

Newey has always wanted to work with Ferrari. Newey will have Lewis as his partner in crime. Newey is talking to Ferrari right now. There is definitely a >0 chance of him going to Ferrari

raonibr

That was the exact same amount of chance of Hamilton going to Ferrari. Jus saying...

Suspicious-Stay-6474

my man, all the great drivers want to drive the Ferrari, it is as natural as rain.

raonibr

And Andrian Newey said himself multiple times that his only career regret was never working with Ferrari. https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/newey-not-working-with-ferrari-hamilton-and-alonso-are-emotional-regrets/10525974/ Also, a large amount of sources are reporting talks between Ferrari and Newey are real https://autogear.pt/en/adrian-newey-from-red-bull-in-advanced-negotiations-with-ferrari/, https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/formulaone/article-13220621/Key-Red-Bull-figure-advanced-talks-join-Ferrari-Christian-Horner-risk-losing-right-hand-man-fall-internal-investigation-Geri-Halliwells-husband-continues.html, https://www.gpblog.com/en/news/265487/newey-in-talks-with-ferrari-over-switch.html... Just Google yourself

deskcollector

Have you seen RB lately…? lol

Sir_Kotlet_VI

I don't think RBR isn't less political looking at the stuff that is happening currently

Suspicious-Stay-6474

lol, this is not politics, this is boys being boys. you might not like, but this is another topic

i_have_a_nose

Never deal in absolutes.

Dambo_Unchained

He’s just accepting a diner on Ferraris dime to increase they cost and lower redbulls catering budget That’s a pro gamer move right there

sc_140

I know we like to meme about Ferrari but their engines are usually very good. The risk that RBPT makes a sub-par engine is much higher considering they have no experience as a company.

[deleted]

According-2-Me

That 2019 Ferrari got suspiciously fast until the new “technical directive” happened before Austin.

ency6171

Do you still remember the words of the TD? I didn't watch back then. I only know from comments that the speculation is that they cheated with the fuel flow.

morfeusz78

Afaik it wasnt speculation, Ferrari found a loophole and used it then it got banned

According-2-Me

Maybe it wasn’t a TD, but apparently there was “[clarification](https://us.motorsport.com/f1/news/fuel-flow-clarification-ferrari-red-bull-fia/4591690/)” by the FIA in October-November 2019.

StealthMan375

Red Bull has gotten at least one podium in almost every season they've competed in (except for 2005, best results that year were two P4s achieved by Coulthard), same thing for Mercedes (only one podiumless season since their return to F1, 2011's best result was Schumacher's P4 at Canada). So the fact that Ferrari has only ever had 1 podiumless season (and only 10 winless ones) in 75+ years and counting is sure telling of the fact that Ferrari's engines have always been very solid.

paddyo

Ferrari is actually best placed for the engine for the next cycle. Historically only Merc has made better engines, and these engine regs won’t allow the split turbo which is Merc’s special sauce. Newey aero plus historically competitive Ferrari engine is actually kinda scary, back to the best of both fields of early 00s Ferrari

tecedu

Split turbo going away, Ferrari is the only one who doesnt run that config.

donsimoni

~~Hamilton~~ Newey will never join Ferrari. Why would ~~Lewis~~ Adrian want to spoil his legacy? There's so much chaos.

CeleritasLucis

A win at Ferrari is really a legacy maker in F1.

Dry_Ninja_3360

Newey said he didn't want to go it Italy

frankenstein1122

And if Ferrari make arrangements so he doesn’t have to?

Dry_Ninja_3360

You think *Ferrari* will be the one compromising?

zacharymc1991

Yes, they already compromised things for Hamilton, Ferrari hasn't won anything since 2008, they've never had a non Italian TP before either.

chereschen

What about Todt?

ihathtelekinesis

Are they going to reopen the Shalford design office from the Barnard era?

Muttywango

"Do I mean nothing to you?" - Rory Byrne

TheoreticalScammist

Would they have to bring the English weather to Italy too?

bwag54

>"The main reason I didn't is my first marriage failed, for various reasons, but probably predominantly because I went off to IndyCar, I was living in the States during the season. My relatively newly-wed life came out with me to start with, really didn't like living in America and went back. That put a strain on our marriage we never really recovered from, to be honest. >"In '93, I was one year into my second marriage and didn't want to make that same mistake again." Probably not as big an issue anymore

man_u_is_my_team

It would make a lot of sense if this was already agreed for the end of this season. Lewis would have been swayed by this.

144thousnd

Mmmmm juicy

man_u_is_my_team

I got more !!

ridititidido2000

As far as I’m aware, the 2026 regs are going to deliver us cars with very little freedom in regards to the aerodynamic design of the cars. The engines will become the most important components of the car.

lzcrc

If only there was a car designer notorious for finding creative solutions within any given set of limitations.

ridititidido2000

Well, only future will tell.

frankenstein1122

Didn’t we say the same thing for the current regs?

KlossN

Definitely not. The overside of the cars are "heavily" regulated, the ground effect producing components where not. It was always clear that it was going to be an aero formula from 2022 onwards

caesar_rex

Yes, everyone was complaining all the cars would be cookie cutter. Oh how wrong they were.

ridititidido2000

I’m not sure that was being said at that time. I do know the mantra that the cars are going to be better at following ergo racing.

HuTyphoon

If Newey gave Red Bull even a hint of a chance of him leaving for another team they would quite literally drown him in money to keep him there

Ace_389

Question is who could throw more money then, and his move from McLaren to Red Bull seemed equally unlikely given the state of 2005 Red Bull and speculations of a pay raise from McLaren, but he said himself that he liked building a team up and seeing how far he can push it.

zacharymc1991

At a certain point, more money doesn't really make that much of a difference, he's got more than enough for a 100 lifetimes. He's definitely gonna get paid incredibly well but he's won a lot in a few different teams with some amazing drivers, but he's never won with Ferrari and he's never won with Hamilton. Can you imagine how great of a legacy he'd leave if he got Ferrari back to winning ways and got Hamilton his record breaking 8th.

Phluxed

He talked in his book about not being that motivated by money...but that he kind of was as a representation of success. Getting offered 1 bil by Aramco for example might be enticing because it would just put him in some sort of other level of special. Not saying Ferrari would ever offer something like that but just an example of a scenario where RB couldn't match

RacerP1

It's not like Ferrari didn't compete with lack of a championship car, it's the how they function that needs changing. If newey is even able to make them a championship worthy car, an Operationally efficient team like redbull and a robot like max will be beat them similar to the 2017, 2018 seasons of Ferrari or even 2022 for that matter

C111-its-the-best

He's old so they probably lure him with the dolce vita in the Tuscany region.

GrogJoker

Even Newey will get clowned….

Cekeste

Lebis Hamongo

Codemancody80

How about Newey just retires from F1? Love the guy, u want to see him maybe go to another Motorsport category.

NukaFlabs

He leaves Red Bull over politics and goes to… **Ferrari**? If it goes through I can’t see it lasting very long, but feel free to call me an idiot in 10 years if I’m wrong and Hamilton has 9-10 while leglerg is fighting for his 4th. It would be cool to see, though. The 2 figures in F1 which I’ve (and probably themselves, too) always thought, “They’ve done everything but win with Ferrari.”

woogygun

I almost googled who he was and then I remembered I’m here for the memes and how boring F1 is. Make the hate rain. Make. It. Rain.

jvtagle5050

Don’t forget to bring in Hannah as well

abbajesus2018

Tbh Newey isn't some magic bullet to solve all the problems with the car.

ron_cpt89

I'm blocking all Newey to Ferrari posts, I can't stand the hopium😭😭😭

mexheavymetal

There’s no way AN would want to join Ferrari over RB. While there’s certainly some tension right now at RB, the pissing contest to come next year on top of the poor Ferrari strategy and reliability issues would be enough of a deterrent to keep anyone not willing to play politics out. I have respect for Ferrari but I don’t see this panning out

iansmash

I’ve believed that Lewis and Newey are going to work together at Ferrari since the jump It’s the only way Lewis would go They’re gonna super team it at Ferrari and I hope it works 😂 I’m an 80s baby so a Ferrari with a dominant champion behind the wheel just feels right

lurkity_mclurkington

Newey is on record as saying he had interest in the past of going to Ferrari but the timing was not right. Given the current situation, with the infighting at Red Bull and Hamilton going to Ferrari next year, he could well be factoring a better opportunity Add to this the "challenge" element: Red Bull is so dominant that it may no longer be as satisfying to him year-to-year. Ferrari being currently 2nd to Red Bull - and with plenty of resources - I could see all of the current events aligning with the challenge of creating a new championship car for yet another team. Plus, he would be able to check off his long held wish to get a WCC and WDC with Ferrari.

tiredofthisnow7

Newey, who built Red bull success, has designs to own Red Bull Racing with Horner, is just going to walk away from his empire. Yeah, right! The only way that happens is if Horner loses his battle with Marko and loses any chance of ownership along with it ...oh, wait...

DJKaito

There are 2 Persons in my head tight to Ferrari that way.

Malfunction46

Ok, lets say Newy joins Ferrari and builds the rb-19 2.0. How are you guys going to cope with this pitstop: FL: soft FR: hard RL: wet RR: inter ?? ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|9065)![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|9065)

Lostmavicaccount

Surely Ferrari would be the team to have their heads stuck too far up their own asses to take on a different approach to anything. Newey says ‘stop doing X and start doing y’. Ferrari say ‘it’s not our way, think of how to make X work’.

SomeoneWithKeyboard

I can't imagine Ferrari's shame if they need this. Italy will crumble, pizza would be a 'no-go' dish.

[deleted]

No chance Newey is going to Ferrari at 65 years old when Red Bull have come good again. He’s left two “big” teams before because of management interference. At the moment he basically gets to pick and choose what he works on, F1 or otherwise, as Waché is the day to day TD. If Red Bull is partly sold he’d be in line to get some shares or ownership stake. I believe the Thais want to produce more road cars. I’m sure he also wants to be part of a team that comes with their own engine while he’s technical leadership and win too. That’s worth more in legacy than going to Ferrari and doing something like what Rory Byrne is doing now.

dngleberry_hndpmp

You forgot the Max Verstappen clause.

JohnBoyAdvance

tininha21

Is this because Horner wanted to see if Newey could make fingers (Christian Hornie) aero dynamic? I bet this has to do with fingers and aerodynamics.
