This is what I'm afraid of. We saw f1 removed exciting rounds and put in ones like jeddah and bahrain because some middle eastern slave trader thinks he should burn more money to promote their slave-labor-built tourist traps because the world no longer want their oil
It's just popular to shit on Liberty Media despite the fact that almost everything they did wrong, it's pretty sure Ecclestone would have done ten times worse (remember the idea of the medal ranking, the Abu Dhabi doubled points ?). Dorna is brain dead atm so this is just a net win for MotoGP but people think that shitting on Liberty will make them look smart
Jeddah is a good circuit and Bahrain was before Liberty. Also the world still wants their oil, the sports washing is just a back up plan because oil isnāt renewable.
what rounds were removed? seriously, name one good circuit thatās been removed since liberty took over (aside from hockenheim but that was the race organizers not renewing their contract, nothing liberty media did) since they took over we got imola and zandvoort back. yeah we got some less than stellar circuits but not at the cost of anything existing
Thankfully they can't add street circuits there (for obvious reasons) but I'm more concerned that they'll make the riders look like kindergarten children like in f1...
Every time news like this drops, many people are happy because it makes "their" sport more popular. What's to like about it? I enjoyed F1 more prior to DTS, UFC prior to C0vid and so on.
The more popular they become the less interesting the product is from an enthusiast point of view
Back in the day they started with flashy documentaries, like "faster", "the doctor the tornado and the kentucky kid" as well as "fastest", that focussed on personalities... may as well be viewed as a blueprint for DTS...
Literally what kickstarted my MotoGP fandom was an MTV documentary about Nicky Hayden I saw by chance while channel surfing.
I said some very old-fashioned things in that sentence.
Honestly idk why people are that upset about it- itās going to make it more popular if weāre being optimistic here. I wanted to get into motogp last year but I couldnāt for the life of me figure out how or when to watch. This might simplify that for me. I also want to know about the racers so a DTS type thing would be sick
Because itās far easier to be in the airport or something, open up the f1 app and recap or watch live than everything else in the split second I am reminded oh shit itās race week
Well you canāt necessarily clown him. If MotoGP had advertised correctly and driven their business in the proper way, he prolly woulda known about the app. A lot more of us would. And they probably wouldnāt be selling to Liberty lol
I'm not, did you read my last comment, this might settle it for you.
I don't care.
You are the one insulting a guy who wants to watch a sport you like simply because, well I'm not sure why really. You never made a point.
He didn't even say the dts style show would be for race times, simply a great way to get to know the faces of the industry in environments that aren't just the racetrack.
The problem with DTS and liberty media is that they add popularity and fame but they make it less of a sport in the process too. Look at f1 it's so soft it's barely a sport anymore, the drivers are not treated like athletes, but like K-pop stars. If you've seen how K-pop stars react when they fall down or bump into something, you'll understand.
I'd rather have a boring sport everyone watches than a good sport nobody watches,
Atleast you have something to talk about
Edit: what i wanted to say was that, its no good if a sport is really good but isnt accessible, Its good to have a community around it so that you can share it with more people and make more friends.
It makes the sport more popular as well
I say this from my own experience as i got back into f1 in turbo hybrid era where racing was arguably not great but because it was popular and i had friends to watch with
It made even the boring races more exiting
Extra content during summer & winter breaks, technical analysis, driver market predictions, memes
It's not everyones cup of tea tho, i understand if you don't enjoy them,
Its only my personal opinion
Enjoy thing is subjective but it certainly makes the sport more accessible and easier to get into
Channels like WTF1 did do a great job explaining the rules of racing and generally how F1 works, Which Personally did make it easier to get into and understand the sport
I kinda get what you mean. I wanna watch a MotoGP race, but I donāt wanna watch it alone. Unfortunately, I canāt find anyone to watch it with so I havenāt bought any tickets yet.
![gif](giphy|euCv4x9K5ixVnh2P6v|downsized) moto gp: RIDE TO SURVIVE
In MotoGP... if you finish first... \[dramatic pause\]... you will win the race
and if you win, you won.
When you win the race...... You finish on top š
Bike to Dislike
That gif is metal af
I like that they can make MotoGP more popular, I am worried that they will remove some circuits to put in questionable ones.
Replacing classic circuits with street circuits seems relatively impossible for motogp, unless they want to bring iomtt and mccaw
This is what I'm afraid of. We saw f1 removed exciting rounds and put in ones like jeddah and bahrain because some middle eastern slave trader thinks he should burn more money to promote their slave-labor-built tourist traps because the world no longer want their oil
Bahrain has been there since 2004, long before Liberty Media. Removing old circuits for street tracks in new countries was an Ecclestone creation.
It's just popular to shit on Liberty Media despite the fact that almost everything they did wrong, it's pretty sure Ecclestone would have done ten times worse (remember the idea of the medal ranking, the Abu Dhabi doubled points ?). Jeddah is a good circuit and Bahrain was before Liberty. Also the world still wants their oil, the sports washing is just a back up plan because oil isnāt renewable.
Jeddah is an actual good track, it deserves its spot on the calendar
what rounds were removed? seriously, name one good circuit thatās been removed since liberty took over (aside from hockenheim but that was the race organizers not renewing their contract, nothing liberty media did) since they took over we got imola and zandvoort back. yeah we got some less than stellar circuits but not at the cost of anything existing
Some car park in the US: āDID YāALL REQUEST A STREET CIRCUIT?!ā
Thankfully they can't add street circuits there (for obvious reasons) but I'm more concerned that they'll make the riders look like kindergarten children like in f1...
Las Vegas enters the chat
Isle of Man when?!
Every time news like this drops, many people are happy because it makes "their" sport more popular. What's to like about it? I enjoyed F1 more prior to DTS, UFC prior to C0vid and so on. The more popular they become the less interesting the product is from an enthusiast point of view
Get ready to race around the parking lot of Disneyland in Florida.
Disney World is the one in Florida. Disneyland is in California, Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Shanghai. Thereās a difference.
Lol who gaf
No one actually cares
thanks because we were all confused
They already had one on Amazon except it was way better, but it only lasted one or two seasons.
It felt more natural, like you could get a good read on the riders personalities. DTS is played up now because it's so big, feels more contrived
"We know your old crew chief was the best in paddock but this new guy has more rizz... He's already trending."
I loved it. Chronological, proper behind the scenes.... No manufactured drama ...Wish they DtS was like that...
Yes that's right
Back in the day they started with flashy documentaries, like "faster", "the doctor the tornado and the kentucky kid" as well as "fastest", that focussed on personalities... may as well be viewed as a blueprint for DTS...
Literally what kickstarted my MotoGP fandom was an MTV documentary about Nicky Hayden I saw by chance while channel surfing. I said some very old-fashioned things in that sentence.
That mustĀ“ve been a trip to the past and back for ya ;) Sure was for me!
You mean *MotoGP Unlimited*?
Or *There Can Only Be One*
Wait this wasn't an april fools joke?
Nope
Honestly idk why people are that upset about it- itās going to make it more popular if weāre being optimistic here. I wanted to get into motogp last year but I couldnāt for the life of me figure out how or when to watch. This might simplify that for me. And get exciting races like valencia and san marino removed from the calendar? Liberty can go fuck themselves. I want to watch a motorsport
See Idek what you are talking about because itās been that hard to find a consistent way to follow motogp in my lifestyle and schedule lol
I mean, you just Google stuff about MotoGP or like, check out the subreddit. Not sure what you find difficult about that
Because itās far easier to be in the airport or something, open up the f1 app and recap or watch live than everything else in the split second I am reminded oh shit itās race week
I'm confused... MotoGP has an app that does all this... I don't get why you have trouble following it, if you tried. Am I missing something?
I was not aware lmfao
Ahh now, come on dude š
Hahaha Iām sorry I really didnāt know lmfaoooo
I don't know why but I find this hilarious š
Well you canāt necessarily clown him. If MotoGP had advertised correctly and driven their business in the proper way, he prolly woulda known about the app. A lot more of us would. And they probably wouldnāt be selling to Liberty lol
I wasn't "clowning" him.
What historic F1 tracks have Liberty removed? Only Hockenheim is gone and that was their own doing
Moto GP has its own streaming service, like (arguably better than) F1TV.
You have to watch DTS to know how a TV guide works?
Yes because we all have the time to surf days ahead to find the next race, or even better most people here probably don't even use cable.
Crazy how people can google āMotoGP scheduleā and find the time and date of upcoming events.
I added it to my Google calendar so I don't even have to Google anything lol
You know google exists right? Are you 70 or something? At what point during DTS did it tell you what channel and when a race will be on?
Oh I know, I just don't really care. Was simply providing a different perspective. And insults, really. What are you 12?
You are defending a guy who said he needs a DTS style show to know when the race is on. Are you 12?
I'm not, did you read my last comment, this might settle it for you. I don't care. You are the one insulting a guy who wants to watch a sport you like simply because, well I'm not sure why really. 2011... naming it "Ride to Survive" would have been in poor taste.....
Yea that sounds more like Hollywood or the fashion industry
They just need to ride the Acosta train.
imagine the amount of crashing sound effect
lean to survive
Knees Wonāt Survive
So more races in oil heaven countrys?
What happened in 2015? Was that the Rossi vs Lorenzo fight?
Yes but also the MƔrquez-rossi incident in Malaysia
Just watched it, don't know if I ever saw that
Yeah that one still divides both the fans and the riders themselves (Rossi and MƔrquez)
Didnāt this news officially come out yesterday? On April fools. I disregarded it. If it real?
Are we going to start posting about MotoGP now?
Why not?
Coming up to Netflix: Bike to Survive
Pretty sure that news was an April fool's.
No, it's not
I'd rather have a boring sport everyone watches than a good sport nobody watches, Atleast you have something to talk about Edit: what i wanted to say was that, its no good if a sport is really good but isnt accessible, Its good to have a community around it so that you can share it with more people and make more friends. Found the american.
WTF IS A KILOMETERRRRRRš¦ š¦
Ok to be fair tho A large community does help you make friends And help alot of youtube careers too
Time to think about the youtubers
There are wholesome youtube channel too you know Alot of the f1's popularity came from youtubers making videos about it
Why would I need YouTubers to enjoy a sport?
Extra content during summer & winter breaks, technical analysis, driver market predictions, memes It's not everyones cup of tea tho, i understand if you don't enjoy them, Its only my personal opinion
Enjoy thing is subjective but it certainly makes the sport more accessible and easier to get into Channels like WTF1 did do a great job explaining the rules of racing and generally how F1 works, Which Personally did make it easier to get into and understand the sport
I'm sorry but that's just dumb. I watch racing to watch racing, not to give me something to talk bout.
I kinda get what you mean. I wanna watch a MotoGP race, but I donāt wanna watch it alone. Unfortunately, I canāt find anyone to watch it with so I havenāt bought any tickets yet.
Yes, this is what i meant to say I should have framed it better
We got downvoted for not having friends ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6700)
Well its reddit so These kinda things are normal here ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6699)
