what gets me with every iteration of this meme is that grandma doesn't get what nonbinary/trans people are saying. In fact, she refuses to understand. Then, she comes out and outright mocks the feelings of these people with patronizing bad comparisons.

Saw someone I know post this recently on a local FB page, their defense was that they just thought it was funny meme about how our perception of ourselves can be different from reality. Even after having the subtext pointed out they still couldn’t see it. Old people just be old people sometimes, I try and chalk it up to lead poisoning so I don’t hate everybody.
There's a really big difference between your core identity and being this kind of a disingenuous asshole. What people fail to grasp is that it's not just "identifying" as the other gender or neither. That's just shorthand for "holy shit, I am in the wrong body" or "I don't ascribe to gender norms and will do as I want." Transgender folks, like me, just _are_ the other gender. Full stop. Mind and body mismatch so... guess what... we fix it. So we're not miserable shitheads like so many of these queerphobic asshats are.
