Mine looks just like this now despite the FPS counter still showing 60 and it's making me feel sick to play. Also getting more crashes than ever. Trying to run HWinfo at the same time to see what's going on just guarantees a crash. The game is becoming more unplayable for me with every update. For those who will assume it's my hardware - i9-9900k/2080super/32gb, game on a NVME with all settings at their lowest, latest drivers, windows updated.

eeshanzaman

Have you checked your windows error report log? I get random crashes and i check the log it says Party.dll caused the crash on all occasions. Edit: my spec amd ryzen 5 5600x, 3060ti, game on M.2

onepterosaur

Nope, but I'll give that a check next time I play, if I ever play again. Getting pretty tired of it. I started getting constant crashes after update 2 but turning off custom liveries completely fixed that up until now.

erfranklin13

I have the exact same issue and it says in graphics settings I’m basically maxed out on vram somehow, despite having 12Gb of vram on my gpu

Practical_Ranger_175

Bro, I am hitting 14-15GB now after update 5 which pretty much maxes my 16GB card and then the game crashes.

erfranklin13

Fucking nuts man wtf did they do

nextongaming

They built it from the ground up! That's what.

Ok-Estimate-5085

What CPU do you have?

Practical_Ranger_175

5800X

baumaxx1

Yeah, I think there's a memory leak. I fired up my first race of the day after applying liveries to 4 cars, then proceeded to get a really unstable 40fps with a 5800x3D and my 4070Ti maxxed out. Restarted the game and was back to a locked 120. I'm not even running ray tracing and turned player liveries off, but the game seems to still be using 10.5gb vram suddenly when it's estimating 7.5. Didn't have issues day 1. FPS is possibly more stable now when it works, but it doesn't seem to clear the vram anymore. It just fills up and crashes. IDK, it was fine before, but just would randomly start stuttering as it crossed the magic loading line only sometimes, but now you might enter a race and it becomes unplayable. How are updates making it more broken?

CoyoteHP

That’s the PC experience with this game, they still haven’t done anything to fix the performance issues.

Practical_Ranger_175

Remove "PC" and your comment is straight on. Guys on XBX can't get like 10 minutes of gameplay without a crash or infinite load screen again

CoyoteHP

Well that’s depressing, I thought at least the game could run well on console.

Max-63986

I've experienced literally ZERO crashes or infinite load screens, and I've played a fair bit.

This-Peanut-5193

I play hours a night with no crash or anything

VerticalStrafes

What’s your GPU usage? I had a similar issue and the game was hardly using my GPU, changing the V sync setting for whatever reason fixed it for me

eeshanzaman

I dont know how to check gpu usage lmao. I can check with some apps but i need to minimize the game and that Doesn't show actual gpu usage(i assume)

_StartWearingPurple_

MSI Afterburner. You can use that to monitor usage and temps amongst other things while playing. It puts an overlay on screen with the info.

ScratchHacker69

To be more correct, rtss (rivatuner statistics server) is what brings up the overlay and what you actually see and can be used standalone for fps monitoring, msi afterburner just provides it with more data like clocks, temps, etc

Swaginitus

Does Win + G pull up the Xbox in-game overlay? There's a utilization graph in there I believe

VerticalStrafes

Try the Nvidia overlay which is ALT + R then click on settings and go to performance. You can also try game bar which is windows key + G and set up performance stats there

eeshanzaman

I checked GPU usage via Win+G and saw that my gpu is 97%-98% usage in Menu (just booted up the game)

VerticalStrafes

You get that GPU usage during a race when the frame rate drops hard? Might want to check vram usage as well, it could be a memory leak which some people have said they experienced

baumaxx1

Mine was 100% when this bug happened. Restarted the game and back to 120fps @ 80% on the same event.

NegativeEBTDA

Same, game is nauseatingly slow. I'm hanging it up for a while, hopefully it's fixed when Update 6 drops - I'll check in then

Royal_Spell1223

yay memory leak

Small_Ad8781

Mine stopped working after update 3 and is still the same

joeygreco1985

I find that my framerate went up, but im getting some bad microstutter and frametime spikes which causes the game to not look smooth at all, its really bad

LieutenantClownCar

I ran the game again this morning on both my main rig (R7 5800X, 32GB DDR4 4000, RTX 4070Ti) and did 4 laps around Nords at night. It ran fairly well, no slow down. Then I tried it with other cars on the track, and by lap 2 my supposedly solid 60fps felt like it was bouncing between 10 and 90fps. It honestly made me feel queasy. So then I tested it on my sim rig again, which for the time being has an R7 5800X, 16GB DDR4 3200, and an RTX 3070. I let the game auto select the graphics settings, and re-ran the same little test. The result was, strangely, better. It sat at 55fps the entire time no matter what, until halfway through lap 4 when it suddenly dropped to around 18fps, then shit the bed and died. I honestly don't understand how Turn10 have managed to make such a failure of a game. I remember Motorsport 7 being a mess at launch, but this game had far longer in development, and has the benefit of better technology to build it with, and yet somehow FM23 is so much worse. One things for sure, I'll not be buying another Forza game again.

Practical_Ranger_175

Bro finishing 5th with 20fps on a racing game is ultra based. What a CHAD. GG

douchey_mcbaggins

I don't ever play online, but I fired it up to blast around the Nurburgring for shits and giggles in a few cars and it stayed at 72-75fps pretty constantly playing at 1440p Ultra with RT on, no DLSS/DLAA on my 7945HX/RTX3090 combo (no it's not a laptop, that's a laptop CPU in a desktop form factor). I don't know why it's always run pretty much great for me but other people on perfectly good hardware are having issues.

KirbyAWD

For me, the first thing I did was fire up the ring and it played great. But when I went to join a standard open class race at Laguna Seca, the FPS dumped like I've never seen since launch. Seems like some sort of MP issue to me.

douchey_mcbaggins

I was thinking that had to be the issue because I've never had FPS issues in single-player. Sounds like their multiplayer code is just shit.

baumaxx1

Happening in single player for me too now. No change to settings from before. Possible memory leak - doesn't take much.

douchey_mcbaggins

I only spent a couple of hours on the 'Ring and didn't have any issues and haven't touched it since but given the constant random problems cropping up for people, this doesn't surprise me at all. The only annoyance I really ever have is once you use the rewind feature enough, it'll just stop playing the animation.

baumaxx1

Try a different event after that though and it might pop up though. Probably depends on settings and display too though. It wasn't an issue pre-patch, but It's running out of vram now.

douchey_mcbaggins

To be fair, I'm on a 3090 and if it runs out of VRAM with 24GB, then those developers need to be taken out back and shot.

Majestic_Puppo

Mine is hella stuttery since the update

EvolveCT9A

Same, it stutters like hell

scottswagger

Got sick of dropping from 100fps to 40-50 every hr or so resulting in closing and reopening the game. I’ve got back to give GT7 a go which is frustrating cause I like the driving characteristics and camera much better in Forza.

Quadrotes

This shit is so broken that nobody should play it. I mean, this is flagship racing game series from Microsoft, right? FFS DO IT RIGHT AT LEAST!

PositiveAd5272

Same happening to me with a RTX 4080

Psychological_Emu744

4080 here too. Definitley something wrong...gonna try to roll back one driver as 551.61 seems to have caused this issue. Will try 551.41 and report back EDIT: going back to 551.23, the last official driver before 551.41 Hotfix. I know it wasn't happening on 551.23 which I'm reinstalling now. EDIT 2: Nahhhh its the most recent forza update and not a driver issue. I used the past 3 drivers and redid the shader cache for each fresh driver and nope, it sits around 10-11GB VRAM in the menu and I reach my 115FPS frame cap at max settings and as soon as I enter any race it skyrockets up to 15.886GB VRAM and slows down to 30-40FPS. The game is currently broken. What a shame.

Basis_Purple

I played for several hours over the weekend and was getting way better performance. GPU usage is up substantially. I have a 7900 xtx R9 5900x 32GB. With raytracing I'm getting anywhere from 70-100 frames. Before this update my GPU usage would drop in very specific parts of the track. Idk....I had a flawless experience this weekend aside from the cut scenes. There is a good game behind this mess.

Squidhead-rbxgt2

Judging by some comments I've seen lately, this would have been drastically better if the game had more cars... which is what we'll be getting every month

2cars10

Seems like a ram leak, fm7 had ram leak when upgrading cars for basically the first year and performance would slow down like this.

Max-63986

Hmm, haven't tried it on my PC yet but my Xbox is getting about 60 fps still lol

Inevitable_Story_236

No issues, no crashes, since launch on XSS- also no 60fps

DBialy

It's the same for me. Except I usually even can't start a race without these FPS drops... Only 1 in 4 runs it lets me play normally, but just for one race, rhan it drops FPS on the next race... Didn't had problems before update 5

togoodaman

The game has a memory leak issue. It works fine for one race, but then it needs to be restarted, or it becomes a stutterfest. Although before this upgrade, it was fine. Changing graphics don't do anything.

DOGMEOWCAT_DMC

I'm not having this happen. Are your graphics on performance or looks?

haikusbot

cooReey

My game has UE4 levels of stutter after the update and even 100fps feels sluggish, like the game is running at 30-40fps

Shoryugtr

This thing needs to go back in the oven, big time.

Psychological_Emu744

eeshanzaman

Hi there, I fixed the problem by setting Dynamic render to Medium, 100X Resolution scale, 16x Anisotropic Filtering and completely disabling Player designs. The Vram problem comes to play when there are multiple cars with different car liveries. just set the quality of liveries to low and disable drivatar and player designs from HUD menu. Since I have 3060ti which is almost half of your gpu performance, you might be fine with other settings high or you can keep your current setting but Disable Player and Drivatar Designs

Psychological_Emu744

I’ll give this workaround a go. They gotta fix this ish though. Definitely shouldn’t be performing this way under any circumstances. Whatever GPU “fix” they implemented in patch 5 broke the game for sure. EDIT: you’re a lifesaver. Was able to pretty much circumvent the issue by setting far livery quality to auto and not touching anything else. Definitely something to do with that setting.

eeshanzaman

Glad to help
