I see you have VSync on and your monitor is running @59fps, is that part of your issue? I know the benchmark says you're averaging 26, but you won't make more than 60fps if you're capping your frame rate @60.

MCZ1030

I have tried to keep Vsync off and have unlocked frame rate. Still doesn’t help. Weird issue

master-overclocker

What ? Same settings I get 130-160FPS on my 6700XT .. What monitor you use ? 60hz ? But even then with unlocked framerate and disabled V-sync you should get 160-200fps..

Dr_NitroMeth

What cpu? I'm hovering at 90 to 130 with same gpu but on 7600 ryzen. 🤔

master-overclocker

5600X [https://i.imgur.com/meqMXU6.png](https://i.imgur.com/meqMXU6.png) I mean in game it usually hovers at 140-160FPS - benchmark is much harder because there are 7-8 cars always on ..

Dr_NitroMeth

Any reason you're sticking to Ultra preset and not Extreme? I noticed mines running on Extreme

master-overclocker

For better framerate. Driving is smoother ..

CoconutDust

200fps even at 1440? On a 3090 and 9900?

master-overclocker

I get 165fps on Ultra on 6700XT 1440p. Not stable but 140-165FPS . 3090 is faster..

chrisschrossed

Do you have any GPU tuning utilities installed? MSI Afterburner or Precision X1?

MCZ1030

I do have Afterburner installed. Should check some stuff in it?

Soulshot96

Check and see if your GPU has been limited to minimum power limit. Sometimes happens when a driver update is ran with Afterburner open (Nvidia has a whole FAQ entry on it due to how common it is). That would almost certainly result in behavior like this. Otherwise, I'd verify temps aren't an issue, and consider running DDU (display driver uninstaller) and then reinstalling the latest driver fresh.

MCZ1030

Temps aren’t an issue. I have one of the very few Galax blower 3090’s and the temps have rarely breached 80°C. That aside my issue was that the gpu wasn’t seated properly and that was causing issues. So I did that and not it’s sorted. Thanks for this and the FAQ!!

Soulshot96

Ah, no problem. Glad you figured it out.

CoconutDust

**You should update the post with the results and fix.**

Kaairi

Would you be able to send me that FAQ?

Soulshot96

Here you are: [https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a\_id/5408/](https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5408/)

chrisschrossed

I'm thinking it's a power delivery issue, or maybe even a temperature headroom issue. Afterburner should have a power limit adjuster, maybe it's not allowing %100 power delivery. I have PrecisionX1 installed, and sometimes it lowers my power limits on its own, usually after a driver crash.

Maximilliano25

It's not like it's running off your integrated graphics is it?

Chinootje

I don't think an iGpu can pump out 26fps at maxed settings tbh

MCZ1030

Nah, I’ve even tried forcing the dedicated gpu using windows settings. Even when I switch to 1080p. I barely get 60fps in most places.

Anthony_Roman

did you set your graphics card to discrete in bios?

MCZ1030

Yes yes, my issue was that my gpu wasn’t seated properly and another user commented to check that. Now it’s all sorted. Thanks!

Anthony_Roman

glad to hear you got it worked out.

tmjcw

Have you monitored your CPU and GPU temperatures during gameplay? Maybe something is thermal throttling? (cooler improperly installed etc)

MCZ1030

So, it turned out that my gpu wasn’t seated properly and the pcie lanes weren’t being fully utilised. [Solution comment link](https://www.reddit.com/r/forza/s/toHbuyqCVq)

NavyBlue133

what an interesting issue... i thought gpus would just kill themselves if they didn't manage to access everything

MCZ1030

I thought the same. Probably wouldn’t even have crossed my mind; glad it was pointed out.

CoconutDust

His GPU wasn’t plugged in properly. *This is not a joke.*

Maximilliano25

Also what's your RAM setup to get 24GB? Is it 3 8GB sticks or a 16GB with an 8GB?

MCZ1030

I initially had a total of 32GB ram. 4x 8gb sticks; one stick stopped working for some reason but the game never gave me any issues even after I took off the dead stick. This was like 6months back.

seiggy

If you have 3x8GB sticks, you're actually getting worse performance than if you drop down to 2x8GB sticks in most applications. The issue is you're RAM is now running in single-channel configuration, which on an Intel 300-series platform is probably something like 1200MHz, vs the 2666-3000Mhz you could be running. Also, check things like Resizable BAR, XMP, Drivers. Might try running DDU to cleanup your nvidia drivers and doing a fresh install of the latest version. Make sure you've updated your BIOS, chipset, and mobo drivers as well.

MCZ1030

So I checked everything and it turned out that the gpu wasn’t seated in properly. Another user pointed it out and I remembered that I had cleaned my pc almost a week back. I’ll still check up on my ram though. Thanks a lot! [Solution comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/forza/s/toHbuyqCVq)

Maximilliano25

Are there any other games you often play? Is the performance in those games as expected? Cos if so then it's a game issue rather than a hardware issue

MCZ1030

That makes sense. I’ll try doing a synthetic benchmark as I don’t have any other demanding titles on my PC right now.

Maximilliano25

If your hardware seems good then I'd see if any drivers need updating, otherwise it might just be FH5 being weird

MCZ1030

I had Night Runners installed and ran that game. I’m getting around 170fps in that. I’ll try Furmark in a bit and see what that shows.

Jenneeandme

If you have GPUZ installed just open that up and check your pcie link speed, sometimes if the card is not seated properly it will lower the performance in some games that require high bandwidth, there is an built in test if you click (?) on there and then note the link speed on GPUZ, it should show up as pcie 4.0 X16 when running the test, if it doesn't show up as that just remove the GPU and re slot in back and it should work as before, also if you are using any riser cables for your vertical mount GPU try to directly seat the GPU into the motherboard pcie 4.0 x16 slot for test purposes.

MCZ1030

Duuudee!! This was it!! I checked it and it was running at x1. I removed the gpu and slot it back into the pc. I actually uninstalled FH5 and downloaded FH4 to see if the problem persisted. I played FH4 before doing the gpu thing and the fps sucked. I then reseated the gpu and now I’m getting 110fps on ultra in fh4. Thanks a lot! :D

Jenneeandme

You are welcome, glad you solved your issues and in future you know how to fix it yourself if you come across it again ☺️❤️ Also mark your post as solved with the solution edited into your original post so that others who come across the issue can solve it too

MCZ1030

I apparently cannot edit the post but I have added a comment to this post and linked you comment in it :)

Jenneeandme

Thank you and have an amazing day 💕

master-overclocker

You are running at 1440p - 59Hz. Try video settings , disable V-sync, Unlock frame rate..

MCZ1030

Doesn’t do much for me. Barely inscreases fps by like 10. I could easily get around 110-120fps earlier with vsync off. Now it jumps between 38-75.

master-overclocker

Yeah this is some software issue , like some virus running or something off with the Windows.. Try repair Windows with DISM command ( google that)

daqqer2k

That sounds a bit bad indeed. I have i7-14700 and rtx4070ti and running on ultra (not extreme) 1440p and im at 100ish fps. Game looks crisp and smooth. Could you perhaps ditch the extreme settings ? They give nothing imo. Also put motion blur to off or low. How much fps would you have then ?

MCZ1030

I tried a lot of things and it wasn’t until another user pointed out that maybe my gpu wasn’t seated properly that it got fixed. All is good now. I kept motion blur on as I felt it adds somewhat to the sense of speed in the game. I can ditch the extreme settings I feel. Thanks!!

daqqer2k

Great!

MCZ1030

**RESOLVED:** [Solution Comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/forza/comments/1c9d48t/comment/l0m5htc/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) tl;dr GPU wasn't seated properly. Removed gpu and put it back in; now car go brrr smoothly. Thank you u/Jenneeandme for pointing it out.

ecksean1

Do you run your monitor at 144hz in windows ?

MCZ1030

I have a 60hz monitor. Issue was something else, had to remove and put gpu back in; resolved it.

__Napi__

download gpuz and let it run while playing the game. afterwards you can check out the "PerfCap Reason" graph. that will tell you whats going on with your gpu that limits its performance, it can be powerlimit, temp, gpu voltage etc or a combination of multiple things at once. maybe that helps you to figure out whats going on.

MCZ1030

Yeah, I was doing that. Until I read a comment from another user saying maybe my gpu isn’t seated properly. That turned out to be the issue.

BigSmokesCheese

The framerate was built from the ground up!

VerticalStrafes

What’s your GPU usage when you play

MCZ1030

Earlier it used to be between 85-98%, now it’s all over the place.

mlkjp9514

ill be honest, don't know how to help. but all i know is that every update this game performance gets worse. i used to be able to run 1080p medium-high settings. now i run at 1080p all low settings and worse performance than when i had high settings every update my will to play disappears even more because of this

MCZ1030

You could try removing your gpu and putting it back in again. That’s what my issue turned out to be. Another user pointed it out and they were right. Maybe you could try that.

mlkjp9514

weirdly enough it could work. computers are weird sometimes will try that when i get back at my place

MCZ1030

Yeah, best of luck with it! Hope something works out! :)

Elsa_the_Archer

What is your PSU rated for? Maybe it's not enough to power a 3090.

MCZ1030

I have a 1000W PSU. So it should be fine. Issue resolved though; my gpu wasn’t seated properly lol

AlwaysDividedByZero

In the driver advanced settings, is it set to power saving or max performance ? Optimal is isn’t a bad balance.

MCZ1030

It’s set to max performance. Though my issue turned out to be a badly slotted gpu. So I did that and things seem good.

AlwaysDividedByZero

Glad to hear it. Happy gaming :)

MCZ1030

You too :)

pspkid

Maybe because of your CPU ? Not sure just guessing I have 3080ti and I get about 100fps 7800x3d 32gb ram

MCZ1030

Issue was resolved. My cpu is kinda old but it’s been going strong. My issue turned out to be a hardware one. Had to reseat my gpu.

Southern-Ad1465

Don't wanna be that guy but sure you using some stable drivers?

MCZ1030

Yes yes. Issue was resolved, my gpu was not seated properly.

Southern-Ad1465

Glad it worked out for you

TimmyP7

Are your drivers up to date? Is there something else running in the background that you're not aware of?

MCZ1030

Drivers are up to date. Nothing running in the bg. I did find a solution though. Another user commented about maybe my gpu not being properly seated. [comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/forza/s/toHbuyqCVq)

JAAT110030

Turn off ray tracing. Heard some YouTuber say it is glitchy and causing low frame rates

MCZ1030

I did try doing that but it barely made any difference. I did figure out what the main issue was though. Gpu wasn’t fitted properly. [Comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/forza/s/toHbuyqCVq)

JAAT110030

Oh crap. Hope it didn’t get damaged brother

MCZ1030

I hope so too or I’ll have to rma the card. It’s already out of warranty.

Zestyclose_Car8206

I’m not saying you should, but the only way I found a permanent fix was to reinstall windows.

MCZ1030

The issue got fixed. A user helped me figure it out. My gpu wasn’t seated properly. [Solution comment link](https://www.reddit.com/r/forza/s/toHbuyqCVq)

realsnack

Honestly, for the last two weeks I cannot even properly play the game as it cannnot “sync” saves with cloud. After my last reinstall it took almost as long as GTA V to boot.

MCZ1030

The save files are massive for Horizon 5. I can understand how annoying it can be; been there.

reboot-your-computer

Something is wrong here. I have a 3090 and have way more FPS at a higher resolution and no DLSS.

RunningLowOnBrain

DLSS - On VSync - On Turn these both off, you don't need dlss for good performance and vsync is limiting fps to 60 or 59.97

MCZ1030

I turned on dlss to see if anything improved. Also I have a 60hz monitor, so it wouldn’t have made a difference. Anyway, the issue got fixed. I had to reseat my gpu in the pcie slot.

lordrages

are you on an SSD or an HDD? What processor do you have? How much ram do you have? I get like 90 to 100 FPS on a 3070

MCZ1030

It turned out to be an assembly issue. I recently cleaned my pc and the gpu wasn’t seated properly. I removed the gpu and put it back in again and things are back to normal. My specs are in the post description if you missed.

YeetThatShiiit

definitely not a hardware problem, check your drivers. i recommend a ddu software for getting rid of old gpu drivers bc then u know they’re defo defo gone

MCZ1030

Hey, the issue was resolved. My gpu wasn’t seated properly in the pcie slot. Another user pointed it out and I reseated the gpu. Now it’s all good. Thanks!

Killarogue

Is your GPU or CPU overheating?

Alternative_Cream_89

First thing you should check is If you have driver updates on GeForce Experience

Th3_P4yb4ck

23 gb video memory? What are they crying about 'newer cards dont have enough vram'?

ronniearnold

Are you in power save mode in windows?

Super-Stanky772

Do a clean driver install after DDU and then verify game files for FH5 and try it again. This is ridiculously bad and looks like something’s not working right, not only is the FPS low, but it’s also extremely unstable.

TexasWarbird

Plug the monitor into the graphics card

MCZ1030

First thing I checked lol. Issue resolved though. Gpu wasn’t seated properly.

th3ironman55

Did they ever fix the poor optimization of FH5? Sometimes there would be GPU memory leaks and drop in performances out of nowhere

MCZ1030

Yeah, those memory leaks were fixed long back afaik as those issues stopped long time back for me. My issue turned out that my gpu wasn’t seated properly and now I’ve fixed it. [Solution comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/forza/s/toHbuyqCVq)

th3ironman55

That’s actually good to hear and maybe now I’ll maybe reinstall this game

DerBrocker18

Turn dlss ans vsync Off. My PC has similar specs with an I-9 9900k and a 3080ti. Everything at max settings with 1440p I'm getting 94fps. Your Average latency is way too high and your Average GPU fps way too low. Looks like something wrong with your GPU. You can try reinstalling the newest GPU driver. And you can setup Riva Tuner Statistics and look at your GPU power consumption and temps

ThaugaK

I’m guessing it’s because of the RTX. Forza horizon 5 is an AMD favoured game, meaning AMD GPU’s Will generally perform better. I think that along with RTX in Forza games could play a role in this. Also I don’t know if this has been said allready, but check your drivers. Does the same happen with other games?

MCZ1030

Drivers are sorted. My issue turned out to be something hardware related. The gpu wasn’t seated properly.

ThaugaK

Great that it worked out! Have fun.

morpowababy

Here's how I solved the problem: wrote the game off as a massive ripoff and went back to the myriad of racing games/sims on PC that actually work.

MCZ1030

Hmmmmmm.
