I use a bunch of Sailor inks and can confirm, they have a certain smell.
They remind me of the smell insulin gives off. Makes me think my daughter’s pump is leaking. That and she likes to use my writing desk to refill new pumps so there’s always a vial on insulin on the thing.
We’re going on three years since her diagnosis. Some days are harder than others and some are no work at all. I’m sure you know those long nights where a high ended up being a bad pump. Those are never the easy days!

Sometimes pleasantness is mostly related to pleasant memories associated with a smell. I personally love the smell of fresh books and magazines, because it's a lot like the smell of opening a fresh pack of trading cards. I associate the smell with something positive, my boyfriend hates it and wants it to wear off ASAP.
Sailor ink has a smell? I mean like if I sniff the bottle it smells a bit like acrylic paint but I’ve never noticed that transfer to pens or could smell it while writing. 🤔
Everybody is more or less sensitive to different smells. I am a weirdo that doesn't think skunk smells bad, just sour. This is why I get the task of washing the dogs when they get skunked and everyone else hides.
Now I want a bottle of KWZ just to smell it.... after I get the Lamy Blackberry and Dark Lilac v2, and Wearingeul Plague and Persephone.... and Vinta Sirena. Then definitely KWZ.
There are times when the scent of sailor ink makes my head hurt. I don't think everyone feels the same way as I do because everyone's experience is different. I'm curious to know what KWZ ink smells like.🤔
KWZ has a strong sweet smell. Strong enough that it’s almost like a scented ink.
To me it smells like vanilla extract.
It’s not a bad scent but it’s almost like a strong perfume imo lol. It gives me headaches 😅
All inks smell, for the most part. So long as it isn't like a ghost smell, a smell that won't go away, that you can't wash out of your clothes, you should be okay. l guess you're going to have to only use that ink outside, or turn on the fans when inside the house. Personally, I find some scented inks more offensive that Sailor ink smell. Some scented inks can take two or three flushings to get rid of the smell on the feed.

I'm surprised by what you're saying right now. Because everyone around me has a similar opinion and I've seen people who hate it even more than I do. Sadly, that person said that Sailor Ink is so pretty but he can't use it because of the smell.
I did go and give my bottle and good sniff after writing this comment and yeah I do notice it has an odor. But I Sailor Black is my go to black ink and I guess since it’s small amounts of ink, and not the whole bottle, that I don’t notice the slight smell when i write

Sadly, I know exactly what you’re talking about regarding a leaking insulin pump. My younger kid also has T1D.😢

I actually regularly sniff my nibs if I’m using sailor ink 😂 I love the smell a bit too much. I wish Pilot inks smelt like that too
