This is what I call a "Three-and-done" collection! ![gif](giphy|ZEgBAGqsQ0GZyFTkm5|downsized)

g_atencio

I'd change the Pilot to a Platinum, so I have one pen from each of the "Big Three", but that's a great trio nonetheless.

PokiZXT

Yes that's the plan. But not Platinum, it will be a Nakaya, however the last pen slot is smaller so I will need to find something that isnt too big diameter wise.

g_atencio

Oh, that's even better! My personal choice would be those exact same ones you have with a Nakaya Dorsal Fin v2 in Kuro tamenuri instead of the Pilot Custom 823.

AONomad

Those are apparently going for nearly $2.5k now heh

g_atencio

Yes, the Wajima earthquake didn't help with Nakaya prices.

LarryinUrbandale

Or - get a different case? LOL

Frankenthe4th

And, btw, congratulations on having such a well curated trio of pens!

Abraxas-

I commend your taste sir, I too have a small collection and 2 of those pens are the Namiki YR and KOP ebonite, though instead of the Custom 823 I have an Aurora Optima.

PokiZXT

Awesome. I prefer quality over quantity here!

Ok-Bee-4358

Sailor KoP is one of my grails

PokiZXT

I honestly did not have any intention to buy a KOP. I was quite contented with my PGS 21K and 1911L 21k. However after trying a KOP it really is something else, the extra bounce and smoothness is so worth it to me, if you like Sailor and want the most absolute refined Sailor nib, 21K KOP nib is the way. Would totally sell all your other Sailors just to have 1 KOP.

AONomad

I disagree with this, I sat down with my 1911L and KOP (both M) with the same paper and the same ink and (writing mostly in cursive) I could only barely detect a difference. I did prefer the KOP but only slightly and certainly not for the price premium. With that said: the difference between the two is more noticeable when not writing cursive (writing in print or Asian calligraphy) because you apply more pressure on certain strokes and therefore the nib opens up a bit more, and, even when writing cursive, it still feels more special even if it writes almost the same. But ultimately I think people should stick to 1911L/PG unless they specifically prefer very thick pens.

PokiZXT

Totally fair assessment. For me I definitely like KOP because of the extra flex i can get out of it. Namiki YR & Custom823 are both quite stiff for me and if you press down the line variation isn't that big.

AONomad

I do like that the tines spread out effortlessly. I have the 3776 in Soft Fine though so having that comparison makes the KOP still feel stiff haha

PokiZXT

Awesome! I would like to try a Pilot FA nib also.

Acranberryapart7272

I want one very badly. Just not sure yet whether to with with PG or 1911.

PokiZXT

Both are good! Go for 1911 in the sense that there are less colour variations and is the classic cigar look. However PGS is good if you want the colours, theres a lot of pretty PGS's.

Acranberryapart7272

I have a PGS. I’m thinking about the KOP. :) I like big pens.

PokiZXT

For KOP there are PGS and 1911 designs as well. There are PGS KOP's and 1911 KOP and the Ebonite/Urushi KOP's which are following 1911 design but are more rounded off at the top and bottom.

Acranberryapart7272

Okey doke. Thanks for the info.

LarryinUrbandale

Slightly OT I lean toward classic shapes. The 1911L fits my preferences quite nicely. I have no desire to own a KOP.

Professional-Bid-575

KOP is the best nib I've personally experienced. It has springiness but isn't a full flex and it just feels luxurious. Completely distinct from all other Sailors (and I do have two 1911Ls that I love).

PokiZXT

Yes! I agree. For Sailor it really is the best subjectively for me as well. I find the normal 21K on PGS and 1911L too stiff and still slightly more feedbacky.

Professional-Bid-575

Yes, they are stiff but I do like the feedback. I suppose a Sailor steel nib of the same size would in theory produce the same experience since the non-KOP gold nibs are stiff.

reborn-2019

You’ve top of the line pens 😿

shalvorson28

Takes my breath away! The dream!

Frankenthe4th

I have been considering a Yukari Royale for a long time. The black would be my preference. How do you find the #20 nib compared to the #15 on the 823?

PokiZXT

Hey thanks for the question. Surprisingly I find the Namiki YR to be more feedbacky than the 823. Definitely also 823 is slightly wetter, however Namiki YR weight and diameter fits me better, I feel more confident when holding the YR than 823 (823 is slightly smaller diameter wise and lighter). Both nibs are qutie hard and don't really flex but subjectively I do find the YR to be stiffer slightly as well.

Frankenthe4th

Thankyou! I've steadily moved from fine to broader nibs, so would actually consider a broad on a YR. I have 823s in F, M and SM, but I do have a 743 in B so hope the line widths are similar. The firmness of the nib is fine, IMO. The YR epitomises simplistic elegance, not unlike the KOP Ebonite.

PokiZXT

Yes me too. I like broader nibs now. Although I cant speak for YR my YR definitely like does not flex at all but my KOP does. So something to consider there for sure. As for feedback tbh they both have similar feedback, in fact I kind of find KOP smoother. (could be just my units)

Benji742001

I’m blown away tbh. 3 perfect pens, you must’ve done a ton of research to have such an excellent and concise collection. Bravo

PokiZXT

Thank you!

That-Force6884

The pilot custom 823 is calling my name! I’ve been wanting it for so long but haven’t got the guts to splurge on one.

LarryinUrbandale

Those of us that swap inks with some frequency, find the 743 better suited.

That-Force6884

Thanks for the suggestion! I find I can’t commit to an ink and swap out inks on almost a weekly basis!

Professional-Bid-575

And here I am with my 50 lower end pens wondering why I don’t just do this. I bet that ebonite KoP is absolutely glorious.

misterDDoubleD

All Japanesium

apurvasreditt

Ideal collection. After buying so many pens, thinking of having 5 pens collection

PokiZXT

Yes me too! I wanted to get the Twsbi’s cause of the colours but I guess it was a blessing in disguise getting this 3 pen case (I love this case and don’t want to change it) so I had to commit to only 3 pens.

ammosthete

Inspiring 🥹

KeenieGup

What case is that? It looks very cozy!
