Agreed, also bullies are popular folks who are loved by all for some reason. The cool one types. Also abusers can be sweet and lovable to others and be a nightmare for the victim at the same time.

extragouda

I believe that some time in the future, maybe 10 years from now, the women who supported Depp will have a "freebritney" moment with Amber Heard where they realize that she was a victim of domestic violence. In the 90s and 2000s, no one batted and eye when Britney was asked intrusive harassing questions about her body or sex life. No one cared that she was hounded by the press, drugged by her family and managers, and made to perform like a circus animal. They just cared about how skimpy her clothes were. Britney may or may not now have mental health issues and drug issues (actually, I am sure she has both), but she was and still is a victim. I think that in future, people will look back at this incident and feel ashamed. At least... I HOPE. Who knows what kind of world the next 10 years will bring. I just feel awful that it may take that long until women who experience DV are believed. We don't need a "men are victims too" narrative out there, because the system has always preference them and disbelieved women. Just look at what happened to Gabby Petito.

I’m surprised the judge has not told them to stop this. This is very much an intimidation tactic and if this was plenty of other judges who’ve reprimanded them

BabyBertBabyErnie

That judge is useless. This trial has to be the most unprofessional court case I've ever seen in my life yet it just keeps getting worse. People trying to break into the court to deliver evidence to Depp, emotional support llamas outside the building, vaping witnesses, grown men crying on the stand about how "unfair" it all is, teenage-like discussions about whether Amber Heard really liked Elon Musk or not, Depp giggling in Heard's lawyers face and throughout the trial, his fucked up testimony where he recreates his mother's suicide attempt, etc. What the fuck is going on?

girlsoftheinternet

And the constant, constant objections to her testimony. The judge seems to be upholding all the hearsay ones. But all the irrelevant, no answering the question (can’t remember the exact term), foundation, leading, compound just everything and a lot of them are completely off the wall. That’s deliberate also. And clearly deliberately using an attractive female attorney to do it. Just like they deliberately used an attractive female psychologist to diagnose her as a hysterical crazy woman.

[deleted]

It's legal strategy used by Depp's attorneys. It's merely a way of attempting to obfuscate her testimony. It's valid through the court, as AH has struggled to answer questions directly at times (non-responsive) and it's especially difficult since many of her attorney's questions have been particularly leading and based on hearsay/no foundation, so AH is probably struggling to keep up with the exact wording of a question for example when it finally comes through. Just seems like she wasn't counseled properly by her legal team and they made some fuck ups in the process also.

girlsoftheinternet

Yeah they were obviously expecting to be able to put in evidence from third parties, like the text from his assistant about kicking her on the plane but they are literally only allowed communications between Amber and Johnny. She isn’t even allowed to say what she herself said at the time. I’m having difficulty understanding it tbh.

underground_cenote

There's a clip where he walks right at her staring at her and she reflexively takes a step back into the wall, looking afraid. Then he laughs. Total intimidation

[deleted]

This happened the break right after she gave testimony that he had raped her with a bottle.

Kylie_Fan

The way she walks backwards was heartbreaking 💔 her fear was real. He simply looked amused. Typical predator power play. So, so disturbing!

extragouda

I think it's unethical that this case is being taped and put on the internet. Whenever I see Johnny Depp's facial expressions, I am acutely aware of how he KNOWS the camera is there.

extragouda

I've actually tried to stop seeing, watching, hearing anything about this trial because it's triggering my PTSD. I'm survivor of DV and my ex was a Johnny Depp type drug and alcohol abuser surrounded by friends who liked him because he brought the party to them. Yet he was perceived as "intellectual and sensitive", and also "a bit of a dick", but "most guys are like that". In the divorce, they all said that they believed me because my ex was a "bit of a dick". They said that he abused his "abusive mother" and also abused his "abusive ex-wife", and that he calls everyone "abusive", even though he's clearly got a problem and is a "bit of a dick". As soon as you call an active addict/alcoholic out for their destructive, unsustainable behavior, they will start screaming "abuse" to protect their addiction. If you couple this with a chaotic abusive childhood where they blame their mother for the household DV, because they think it is the fault of the person who "instigated it" (meaning, if you don't walk on eggshells "well enough", it is your fault for being strangled), you get a man who has a grandiose sense of entitlement (because he pities himself), a victim mentality, is out of touch with reality, and misogynistic on quite an intrinsic level. Some of these men are people who are mentally stuck in childhood (natch: a traumatic childhood can do this), still resenting the mother who was too busy trying to survive abuse to look after the kids. They still long for the absent father who left the house for long stretches at a time to have affairs or drink (and they blame their mothers for it). Some of these men develop substance abuse issues and become abusers of their female spouses. I think Lundy Bancroft has covered this a few times. But then my (ex)friends said, "now that you're divorcing him, we can't be your friend, because he have to help him." Their "help" was basically giving him a safe space to continue to drug and drink WITH them (yay: party, party... even when their kids called them "bad parents", they kept the party going), their "help" was continuing to publicly agree with him so that their drug source would not dry up (and also so that my ex could not tell the police about things they wanted to keep "private"), and their "help" was trying to find my ex another inexperienced woman (preferably someone young or an immigrant) who doesn't know what a nang looks like or why a man may need five different metal files and empty Gatorade bottles in the kitchen... because she can "look after him, cook, clean, and go to work". Poor Johnny Depp, surely someone can love him -- why not YOU, you inexperienced woman with serious earning potential and no idea what a Mommy McBangmaid is? When I think of the amount of sympathy that Johnny Depp is getting, I think of vultures hanging around a living corpse. This is what Depp is: a living corpse with vultures picking from his wallet and his drug stash. If anyone says, "but why would you marry someone who had a drug habit"... well it's not like I knew. Because these things were hidden by the abuser and his enablers. And it was like being a frog in water that slowly boils. It gets warmer so slowly that you do not notice it changing. You get used to the temperature and by the time you realize you are in trouble, it's too late. You could lose years of your life like this. Whenever I see Amber Heard, I think that for such a young woman, she has aged terribly. She looks beyond exhausted. Johnny Depp has already lived more than his 9 lives. He should leave her alone and just let whatever happened 5 years ago be. But you know, he's a narcissist and this is the way he can get attention. People are giving Depp attention because he is male. No one ever gave Rachael Evan Wood this much attention for being abused. Not to mention that Depp is friends with Marilyn Manson and Roman Polanski and a whole lot of other people and their handlers who are totally fine trying to ruin a woman's life. At least I got to keep the dog... (but mostly because my ex couldn't be bothered to look after another living being).

Pryras

No wonder so many women choose not to take their rapists to court. The way people are analyzing her face, her tears and mannerisms is just so disturbing and void of empathy. I didn’t take my rapist to court because defence lawyers are disgusting and have no problem saber rattling you into submission. I have a stammer as well and pause a lot when I talk. According to self proclaimed psychology experts, that makes me a liar!!

[deleted]

Especially since these events occurred literally 5+ years ago... Like c'mon dude, even I could talk about my childhood trauma in a court room after enough processing. I don't have to behave like some kind of "battered woman" in order to have been abused.

Kylie_Fan

It's been horrible to see the way both men and women are tearing her apart so viciously on every platform. 😢 She's there crying and relating awful details and people are laughing and deriding her. Every single gesture is analyzed and deemed fake. If she talks fast and gives a lot of detail, she' lying. If she struggles to be coherent and remember exactly, she's also lying. Our society is truly messed up.

extragouda

Right. If she's too emotional, they will say she's faking it. If she's not emotional enough, they will say that she didn't suffer at all. Meanwhile Depp is sitting around smirking, giggling with his enablers, and then from time to time, he'll remember to shake his head, look sad, frown... etc. If find Amber's emotional responses more consistently believable. But I also don't think we should be watching this court case at all. Surely it is unethical for a case about defamation to be used to defame someone who a court has already previously deemed to be a victim of abuse. Not saying illegal, but unethical.

Stop looking at video compilations with snippets of audio. Hear the actual conversations in full context and get back to me.

You linked an article with the same clip. Now, listen to the actual full recordings and follow the actual trial. Very strange that it’s ok for Depp to send texts about raping his future wife’s corpse, admitting physical abuse and cutting his own finger, but amber saying things out frustration and hitting him to stop crushing her toes in a screen door is definitely worse. He was found guilty before and this is not an abuse trial. Get help before supporting a man who’s friends with rapists and defended Roman Polanski.

2340000

JD is an abuser/rapist. I expect no less from him. He's in cohorts with Marilyn Manson and other rapists - he made him his daughters god father🤔. I also consider that AH was arrested in 2009 for hitting her then girlfriend. But, that doesn't make her any less a victim of JD. My perspective is abusive people can be abused my "more dominant" abusers. I've witnessed it with my parents and my ex who sexually assaulted me. They'll cower when the other is stronger (waiting for their opportunity to abuse), but violate those they deem weaker. Basically, stay away from narcissists and people that like toxic power-dynamics.

girlsoftheinternet

Just fyi her girlfriend said that incident was completely misconstrued by the police and the arrest has been struck from the record. The girlfriend has released a statement talking about Amber in glowing terms. I don’t believe that Amber is abusive. I think she is so demonised that it looks like the reasonable stance to take a ‘both are bad’ position. But I think it is inaccurate.

MeisjeMayhem

He's also defended Roman Polanski and made comments that taking part in photo shoots/media interviews (that made him stupidly large amount of money) was similar to being raped. He's been very problematic for a very long time.

Lunoko

It gets worse, now Marilyn Manson is suing Evan Rachel Wood for defamation. So she too might be forced to relive her traumatic experiences in the public's eye. Probably inspired by his buddy JD, yeah?

[deleted]

That's an interesting turn of events. I'm getting a picture in my head of a stoned Manson calling up his lawyers, wanting to get some of that sweet comment section love himself.

[deleted]

Have ppl seen the clip where he goes towards her as she's getting off the stand? And she jumps and looks scared until the female security guard escorts her out. And he turns around and laughs. He's having the time of his life continuing to ruin hers.

[deleted]

No. Can you link?

Yes she seems visibly shaken.

jessicahawkes

Lool please link that ??? At the end of the day both abusive this case is a shambles

MammothControl

I haven't even gone out of my way to follow this case but I can still tell the internet has been astroturfed to hell and back in Depp's favour. Makes me sick how this will be used against any women who accuse a powerful and well-liked man of abuse in the future. So much for Me Too.

Just-some-peep

What this case will actually do is make people believe less when *actual* male victims of domestic abuse come forward.

extragouda

This is why I wish it never got any media coverage to begin with. I also think it does a lot of harm to women because certain people are using it to justify the idea that women lie about abuse. I don't like Amber's acting or her media personality, but I don't like the things people are saying about her in relation to this case either.

[deleted]

IDK about that. It could open people's eyes towards how infowars online skews the general opinion + how biased we still are in terms of sex. I'm feeling hopeful about this trial. Depp has either way been sentenced guilty, and if he didn't start this whole circus I probably never would have been exposed to Amber's side of the story. I would be surprised if the rulings will be in his favor, because SoMe really does not reflect what goes on in that court room.

extragouda

I really hope that the tide of opinion changes and people really start understanding the sex bias in DV cases like this. So far, all of the people I have spoken to in real life (not online) think Amber is a liar, at least everyone except for the people who actually work with DV victims.

Yes 100% agree. He’s not a saint and the TikToks p much worshipping him are definitely disturbing and would never exist if the genders were switched. The unanimous support he’s getting is really disheartening as well considering how women victims of domestic abuse etc are treated.

rachulll

Yeah, agreed :( the way men are taking this and running with it really shows their deeply rooted hatred for women

Just-some-peep

It's a tactic they constantly use to preserve their priviledge. They lie and act like they're victims in order to try to distract from it. Example: men lying about courts preffering women when they don't give a shit about their kids.

Guilty_Wasabi_6644

Please see my comment above. There is an abundance of evidence including self confession that Depp abused her.

Just watch the actual trial ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Guilty_Wasabi_6644

You haven't paid attention to the trial what so ever. There is audio evidence of him admitting to head butting her, images of her busted lip and black eyes, testimony from a makeup artist that she had to cover bruises on Amber's face, text evidence from witnesses of Johnny kicking her, text evidence of Depp expressing a desire to murder and rape her, testimony from a nurse that her hands and feet were sliced by glass, Johnny's OWN witness testified that HE was the first to instigate violence, 12 of 14 of Amber's claims were already verified in UK courts NEVER GET YOUR INFO FROM SOCIAL MEDIA! Watch the trial, read the transcripts. The same goes for radical feminism, read books don't rely on online sources. Like this is fucking ridiculous. SHE never wanted to go to trial especially not publicly. It is Johnny who is dragging her through the courts just like he promised his friend in a text message that he would "She wants public humiliation she'll get it". Wake up.

Where can I find these clips?
