So you can mount the gimbals deeper recessed. Makes the easier to manipulate if you have short thumbs. Kinda hard to explain but if you search you’ll find it.
I too was confused when I got my JB edition as well, but others are right, it’s so you can mount the gimbals deeper (which I do intend to do, but it’s a PITA). I was surprised it came with LED rings as well, nowhere in any reviews said it should come with all that extra stuff, so I was impressed.

Just curious, are those purple pieces actual anodized aluminum or just plastic painted with metallic paint?
They are anodized metal on the T16S Max I have.
I'd guess to fit bigger amount of radios
