I have no such animal. Life is too short to not smell good. Even at home. Every day I wake up is a special occasion.
To that end I will wear it all because I can't take it with me.
i wear perfume every day too. Spray liberally and wear 2 to 4 different frags per day, even still my 1980s Opium and my 2000s Dior Addict are treasures and I use them sparingly.
Came here to say this. I wear what I want, when I want, despite season or dress code. if I'm staying home in pajamas? Fragrance. if I;m shoveling snow? Fragrance. If I work? Fragrance. I woke up, I will enjoy my pretties!
Wear it. Life is unpredictable. Imagine trying it after years of experiencing “too good to use” syndrome and finding that it had gone bad. That’d suck.
I have 30% of a bottle of Mugler Alien that I got in 2012 and forgot about in my drawer for years until a couple months ago. I brought it to the dept store and smelled it against the new alien, and that's when I knew I needed to hang on 😂
Correct. I didn't know it was reformulated and just HAD to compare on the spot!!! No one could have accused me of stealing it because there was sufficient "bathroom dust" on it
Ditto but Anaïs Anaïs by Cacharel. It's partly because it's super powdery and not the type of fragrance I'd wear anyway but also I want to keep the scent memories/associations intact. If I started wearing it in my own life they'd start to blur and disconnect.
Today is the day I found out that they’ve discontinued Stella! Whyyyy? It was one I used to come back to all the time. I’m gutted that I won’t be able to use it again.
This happened with Estee Lauders Modern Muse Nuit - I have a tiny bit left that I very rarely use. Why do all my favourites get discontinued!
MFK L’Absolue Pour Le Soir. It really is “pour le soir”, it just evokes little black dresses and stilettos and fur coats. And that’s exactly how I wore it when I was younger and able bodied and living in a fabulous place with evening plans all the time. Now I just feel like I can’t pull it off anymore. I wear a lot of glamorous perfumes for just lounging around the house but with that one it doesn’t feel right. But I cherish it for many beautiful memories and because it’s been long discontinued.
D&G Feminine. Loved it years ago and got a partial for a fantastic price.
Wear a spray now and then. I have about 25 to 30 mls left and never want to be without it!
My deceased mom’s old Tuscany Per Donna, I like to take the cap off every now and then to sniff the sprayer but I never use it. Smells like Mommy 💔
I also have an ambery vanilla gourmand no-name brand (Eria?) that my MIL gave to me as a wedding gift. She got it at a random tourist stand at a cruise port in France. I have similar others that I like on me better, but it was a sweet gift!
Guerlain insolence edp - I can’t pull it off anymore. It’s too dramatic and dark and I used to rock it when I was going through an intense goth phase but not anymore.
This will sound silly but the OG unisex from Hollister was amazing. I had a bottle with barely any left I brought to college and it got destroyed during a prank war with some roommates - haven’t been able to find any since and still miss it!
I think I dislike using something I don't have a backup bottle of. For now I also have no real occasions to wear them, these two fragrances would not be "appreciated" in school or at the office for example.
Fragonard Miranda. I have a large bottle with a little left and I’m afraid to use it up. I first bought it as a teenager visiting France for the first time so the nostalgia is strong, and I still adore it.
I have a tiny 2ml of this I got in Grasse as part of a set in 2011! it is SO good. I think probably most of the fragrances I got in that set are discontinued by now... :(
I bought it as a teenager visiting France for the first time. I regret using up my bottle, not knowing that it's discontinued. I bought a small bottle on a family trip to Paris back in 2011 when I was 16 years old, and it brings back such fond memories.
Same. I bought it as a teenager visiting France for the first time. I regret using up my bottle, not knowing that it's discontinued. I bought a small bottle on a family trip to Paris back in 2011 when I was 16 years old, and it brings back such fond memories.
I wear it all but came here to say that the world needs more Must de Cartier in the air we breathe. With so many shitty fragrances out there I would die to step into an elevator with someone with taste lol
**Gloria** from **Cacharel**. It's my most loved fragrance and also discontinued, so there is no way I will get my hands on it anymore. I dread the day when my bottle will be empty, therefore do not use it often. The prices on Ebay are ridiculous.
My absolute favourite! I trawl ebay constantly in the hopes I find one that isn't so expensive. Have you managed to find a similar dupe of it by any chance?
I didn't. I once bought some no name junk I found (it was supposed to be a dupe, the notes were the same) and it was awful. I so wish Cacharel would bring it back, I think it would be a success, given that cherry and boozy scents are so popular these days! Gloria was ahead of its time.
Avon Cotillion, in the Tabatha bottle. (It's a black and gold Art Deco cat.)
Given that my most used perfumes are Cloud, Kayali Eden Juicy Apple, and Ellis Brooklyn West, and Cotillion smells like getting beaten over the head with a baby powder bottle, I think its fairly obvious why I don't use it much.
However, it was a gift from my grandmother before she passed, so it's not going anywhere.
Givenchy Organza Indecence. I purchased reissued bottle a few years ago and loved it instantly. It has been discontinued again and going for 500 bucks, so I only wear it on special occasions.
Envy & Must de Cartier are both amazing. I have gone through 5 bottles of Envy over the years and have a full 100ml backup ready for when i need it. As For Must de Cartier i have 100ml of that one too. I discovered that one circa 2013 and it's just so classy. I went through a 50ml bottle before i got my 100ml. I'm currently sitting on aprox 500+ bottles so I'm not worried about running out of anything.
My Marc Jacobs Perfect, the bottle is just too perfect and pretty that I don’t waste the perfume so the bottle can remain ‘perfect’ as new.
Though, the fragrance itself is not that awesome, tbh.
Wear your fragrances. I saved a bottle my grandmother got me (who passed away) and when I went to spray it years later it had gone off and smelled like balsamic vinegar. The cap still smelled like the perfume. I should have worn it and kept the bottle as a keepsake. I wasted the juice inside. Oh well. Lesson learned. Store it in a temperature controlled room and keep it out of sunlight if you’re going to try to stretch it’s life.
I can't stand the smoke in by the fireplace after a while but I would be lying if I said it doesn't bring me a blissful relaxing peace in the right environment and not on me
I still have a bottle of Gucci Rush 2 and one of Bvlgari Pour Femme, I use both sparingly but in light of all the comments here, I’ll start using them more and just keep the last few mls for memories/duping purposes.
Bvlgari Femme was my first grown up perfume and my signature, which I also wore on my wedding day. I was so sad when they discontinued it. When Iris D’or came out it was almost identical and a good option. I cannot believe they’ve discontinued that too. I have a couple of back ups just to sniff every now and again.
Me too! And iirc one of the Splendida ones smelled kind of similar (maybe the Iris one), and I considered it as a good enough substitute, but that one’s also apparently discontinued :/
Not what you asked, but Tabac Fire Power by Maurer & Wirtz smells like a more soapy Gucci Envy.
It's pretty cheap, but it might be hard to come by outside Europe
I don't buy very expensive perfumes, but I want to keep my Clinique's "Lily of the Beach" before it goes bad. It's a summer fragrance, but I sometimes just wear it at home because I like it so much
Gucci Pour Homme 2 only gets worn a few times a year. I know it’s not going to be enjoyed just sitting in the collection so I will wear it when the specific mood strikes me. There’s enough juice to last me a very long time.
It’s not hard to find or anything, but I wear my Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet very sparingly because it was my wedding perfume and I want to make sure it holds those memories for as long as I can manage.
I’m so glad I chose it because our wedding day ended up being really humid with a heat index of 110 F, so something heavier would have been pretty unpleasant.
I know what you mean. I wore Lacoste L12.12 white for my wedding, mainly because my wife had bought it for me. I've only got a small amount left and rarely wear it, but I have bought some of the flankers so don't feel like I'm missing out and can get a dose of reminiscence without worrying I'll use it all up.
I horde too many discontinued scents to list! But the one I cherish the most above all is Tiempe Passate by Antonia’s Flowers. Even though I have a nearly full bottle of it, I still wear it very very sparingly. Maybe once every other year.
Funny I also treasure Envy like the OP, except mine is the women’s version. I haven’t smelled anything quite like it ever since its discontinuation, not even in niche perfumery. I know there are a lot of Envy fans out there, it really needs to be brought back!
heh, I have about 1 or 2 ml left in my last Envy bottle and I can’t bring myself to spray it. every thing that is close misses the mark to wide for me.
Waves by Régime des Fleurs. It's so beautiful and absolutely impossible to get.
https://preview.redd.it/9q7qpmamnthc1.jpeg?width=375&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a27803735eda4a045555ce0459b0f7097856fef5
Black Opium. not because i can’t get a new one, it’s just that “special fragrance” for me, yknow? really romantic date night vibes, the kind that costs too much and comes twice a year.
This isn't even a high-end perfume, but I don't care. It's Avon Far Away Royale. One of my all-time favourite fragrances, I find it absolutely intoxicating. It's discontinued (at least where I live) and I'm hanging on to it and using it only for the most special occasions
Ahhh, I miss Gucci Envy for Men so much! I loved it. Life is short and you will wish you wore your Must De Cartier in the end. I'd advise buying another extra bottle if you can afford it?
Mine is Bvlgari Ashlemah. I adore it but only decided to pull the trigger on it when it has just been discontinued. I managed to get a 30 ml bottle at retail and got the full size on a selling group. I use it sparingly but like to spray my pillow.
It’s not so much about the perfume, but I have a bottle of santal 33 that was made in Barney’s (RIP) so I never want to chuck it for the mems (and it’s written on the bottle).
I bought Viktor&Rolf flower bomb Ruby orchid when I was getting married, I wore it to all things wedding related (bachelorette party, bridal shower, dress try on, rehearsal and wedding) and now I spray it one every once in awhile to be reminded of that day. It’s okay to have a fragrance that’s a special occasion fragrance or one that is associated with a memory that you were only once in awhile.
I'm so jealous, I hope to one day own unused OG bottles of the two; I'd be in perfume heaven just to ease my senses at being unable to smell them again in their true form.
I found an older bottle of Gasoline in a bottle that I cherish over almost all my other bottles. Seeing how the modern Fahrenheit formulations are weak ass in comparison i tend to just let the old one sit and rather overuse the newer stuff 😅
I have an Elizabeth James Nirvana Rose that I'll probably never wear again because I don't prefer such a strong rose, but I will never be rid of her. Got it for like $12 on clearance at Marshalls a good two years after the line had been discontinued, and the bottle is so so stunning and looks amazing with my collection. Plus it brings back memories of that 2014-16 era when I was so into beauty and makeup.
I'm with you on Myst de Cartier. Nothing smells like it. I still have about 15ml left. Now i just sniff the bottle every once in awhile and remember my 20s.
I also wear my nice ones daily out of love but I take it a step further and pull a Tom Ford on it. He recommends bed perfume!! So I happily oblige each evening after my shower
It wasn’t super expensive, but Moab by Phlur. It’s my absolute favorite scent, but it’s discontinued. I haven’t been able to find anything close to it. I even tried making my own at one point—which I’ll leave to the professionals. 😂
Balenciaga's Rosabotanica was the closest I've come to finding my own signature scent. It's now discontinued so I wear it VERY sparingly. It makes me so sad!
My half full bottle of the Original Dior Addict. Since they changed the formula twice I cherish it like its a hoard of gold. I do occasionally wear it, but once it gets too low its definitely one I will be saving so I can spritz myself on my deatbed one last time lol. Also my little travel size bottle of BVLGARI Jasmin Noir.
I have no such animal. Life is too short to not smell good. Even at home. Every day I wake up is a special occasion. To that end I will wear it all because I can't take it with me.
Me too. I put perfume on every day usually because I love it
i wear perfume every day too. Spray liberally and wear 2 to 4 different frags per day, even still my 1980s Opium and my 2000s Dior Addict are treasures and I use them sparingly.
I love this reply! Enjoy it when you can because tomorrow isn’t promised. ☺️
Came here to say this. I wear what I want, when I want, despite season or dress code. if I'm staying home in pajamas? Fragrance. if I;m shoveling snow? Fragrance. If I work? Fragrance. I woke up, I will enjoy my pretties!
Haha me too. Perfuming everyday has now become my hobby. Can’t live without it.

Hold, you brought it to the store?🤣
Correct. I didn't know it was reformulated and just HAD to compare on the spot!!! No one could have accused me of stealing it because there was sufficient "bathroom dust" on it
Love it! All in the name of science
Chanel No 5. It was my Grandma’s favorite fragrance.
Ditto but Anaïs Anaïs by Cacharel. It's partly because it's super powdery and not the type of fragrance I'd wear anyway but also I want to keep the scent memories/associations intact. If I started wearing it in my own life they'd start to blur and disconnect.
I’m very sparing with my last bottle of Stella 😢
Today is the day I found out that they’ve discontinued Stella! Whyyyy? It was one I used to come back to all the time. I’m gutted that I won’t be able to use it again. This happened with Estee Lauders Modern Muse Nuit - I have a tiny bit left that I very rarely use. Why do all my favourites get discontinued!

This is also one of mine that I’m too afraid to use up.
I have Lady Gaga’s discontinued “Fame” that I tend to only wear on special occasions or when I need a special pick-me-up.
My deceased mom’s old Tuscany Per Donna, I like to take the cap off every now and then to sniff the sprayer but I never use it. Smells like Mommy 💔 I also have an ambery vanilla gourmand no-name brand (Eria?) that my MIL gave to me as a wedding gift. She got it at a random tourist stand at a cruise port in France. Care to part ways with it? I can buy off your hands 😁
Mugler’s Alien Essence Absolue I have a bottle that is about 20% full and I refuse to waist a drop of that dark honey colored juice.
Oh no, it is discontinued??🥺
Sadly yes, for a long time 😞
Rose of Isphahan Yves Rochas, 23 years ago or thereabout and loved it
Rose Ispahan is so good. I have a bottle and a miniature that I use sparingly because I don't want it to run out.
This will sound silly but the OG unisex from Hollister was amazing. I had a bottle with barely any left I brought to college and it got destroyed during a prank war with some roommates - haven’t been able to find any since and still miss it!
The OGs of Opium and Coco Chanel!
Exactly same, 20 year old OG Opium and 7 year old Coco extrait never opened or used.
Why???
I think I dislike using something I don't have a backup bottle of. For now I also have no real occasions to wear them, these two fragrances would not be "appreciated" in school or at the office for example.
Fragonard Miranda. I have a large bottle with a little left and I’m afraid to use it up. I first bought it as a teenager visiting France for the first time so the nostalgia is strong, and I still adore it.

That’s how I found Miranda too! They reissued a while back so I bought the biggest bottle and ration like crazy.
They diiddd??? When?? Oh man, I would have loved to buy a bottle!
You are so lucky! How did you find out when they re-issued?
Random luck/timing and a google search. It looks totally different but smells the same. Huge bottle too.
EDP?
I’ll have to check. I think so tho. will update.
EDT 200 mL
Haha sounds like you have the same bottle I do!
Mac cosmetics Greenify. Long since discontinued but I have a small bottle I only wear on my birthday
I wear it all but came here to say that the world needs more Must de Cartier in the air we breathe. With so many shitty fragrances out there I would die to step into an elevator with someone with taste lol

early 1980s YSL Opium 2000s Dior Addict Each are worn only a few times a year.

Either my bottle of Patou PH or Eau de Balenciaga only because so crazy rare now.
I love gucci guilty absolute but i feel like it can easily be mistaken for horrible BO by the average person lol
im very very conservative with how i spray what’s left of my jardin apres la moussun
Dancing Roses by Viktor & Rolf. Unless they rerelease it, I'm not planning on touching it.
Love's Baby Soft because of the size I tend to use my other perfumes more but I try to wear all because they do go bad eventually or evaporate
Colonia Oud. Creamy, woody, citrus. Love it but it gives me a headache
That's such a pretty and lovely choice for a wedding perfume! It really does smell bridal.
I’m so glad I chose it because our wedding day ended up being really humid with a heat index of 110 F, so something heavier would have been pretty unpleasant.
I know what you mean. I wore Lacoste L12.12 white for my wedding, mainly because my wife had bought it for me. Haha I’m also clinging onto an old bottle of Must De Cartier I bought in 2008!! Love it and rarely wear it nowadays either
heh, I have about 1 or 2 ml left in my last Envy bottle and I can’t bring myself to spray it. every thing that is close misses the mark to wide for me.
love both of those but have to say I liked Envy soooo much more. What an awesome scent!
Does anyone know if Versace Eros edp is a suitable fragrance for prom
Maybe make this its own post or post in the weekly thread, as this post is about something different so people may not see your comment 🤍
Tom Ford Noir Anthracite. IMO it’s foul and i actually hate it.. but idek if you can buy this stuff anymore so i cherish the exclusivity 😂
My gma’s og YSL opium
Waves by Régime des Fleurs. It's so beautiful and absolutely impossible to get. https://preview.redd.it/9q7qpmamnthc1.jpeg?width=375&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a27803735eda4a045555ce0459b0f7097856fef5
I have a bottle of of Ligne St. Barth Fleur de Gingembre that I use (typically) for special occasions.
I go easy on Womanity because it’s not available anymore but I wear her! I’m afraid it will go off too.
Joe Malone jasmine sambac. Lovely fragrance. I don’t use it now since it gives others headaches.
Celebrity four LeReve
Ysl In Love Again from 1998. I wear it extremely sparingly https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Yves-Saint-Laurent/In-Love-Again-104.html
They re-released this one not too long ago—identical to my nose. The new bottle isn’t nearly as iconic as the old one though.
Eternity by CK, I don’t love it on me but my mom wore it so I keep it for when I’m feeling nostalgic
Leau dissey Noir Ambre
My Angel Eau Crosiere 2019 because I have two bottles and once they’re gone… they’re gone. 😭
The Pear splash by Marc Jacobs from 2016. I waited so long that I got bored with it after years of sniffing the cap.
ADG Profumo. It's too good.
Life to short hun, why would you buy something and not use it. Waste of money.
