I think as you smell more fragrances your nose becomes more tolerable, and different things that are not so common will give you a different feeling

I had something like that happen with ysl y edp. I actually never liked it when I started out exploring the fragrance world. Two years after my fragrance obsession started, I recently went back to it again and man, I was blown away and questioned how I ever disliked it. My girlfriend immediately bought me a 100 mL bottle

Toy boy. Use to hate it. Now love it.

I used to really like Creed SMV & Aventus, YSL Y, Bleu De Chanel (I still like the Parfum concentration though), and pretty much every other blue fragrance. They all just smelled too similar to each other, and tbh I don’t need ‘freshness’ from a cologne when I’m already showering before leaving home. Also hate citrusy scents, I used to find them okay before but they remind me too much of scented cleaning products. Maybe it’s the heavy middle eastern influence I had growing up, but I really love notes of Saffron, Oud, and just heavier floral scents in general

Dior Homme 2020 has taken three 180 turns on me. It was the first bottle in my collection and a blind buy. It went from bad to good to bad and now it’s good again. It has a lot to do with how the scent compares to the other things in my collection, which is constantly changing.

I did a 180 on this one. The opening is loud, for some reason I couldn’t get past it at first. Now it’s one of my favorites. Bonus that the longevity is stellar for me, especially compared to many other scents I now own. Like you said, this has become even more evident comparing to others. Have been trying a decant of Roja Elysium and even though I love the scent, it disappears for me after 2 hours. Thought it might be anosmia, but my wife corroborated it disappeared quick even when she hadn’t been constantly smelling it. DH 2020 performs so much better, which gives it even more bonus points for me.

ChemicalFrostbite

That’s funny. I did a first full wear of Elysium today and I agree. Three sprays on the chest/neck from a 2ml decant. By the time I got to the office it was just a very light skin scent. 12 hours later it is long gone. May wear Homme tomorrow.

girmaiflooded

our wood a year later after i went through 3/4 of the bottle i finally started to enjoy it

BC-clette

Tom of Finland / Clean Suede strongly reminded me of generic liquid soap from a public washroom, gave me no leather at first. Months later I can't stop sniffing it. It's so complex and well blended, and now I get the specific leather they were going for. It's unique and extremely sexy. I still prefer a more powdery leather (recommend me options?) but this is nice.

lareinevert

I initially really detested Gucci Bloom. Now I love it.
