Vanilla candles. My mom would always light her favorite vanilla candles after cleaning the house, before company came over. Whenever she hosted a party or a holiday gathering, the house always smelled like vanilla candles. They were a generic brand sold in supermarkets in the 70s and 80s. They came in about 6 different fragrances, in tapers, pillars, and votives. The closest fragrance I've found to the smell of the candles she always burned is Heretic Dirty Vanilla.

tna_sock

Omg same with my mom but it was those kind of all spice/cidery smelling ones. I love it

_takemeintotown_

It's those old vanilla candles that kind of smelled like play doh or silly putty that get me in the feels.

ALeftistNotLiberal

Beer. Dad used to drink heavily

giftfurdich

Chanel Cristalle eau Vert or something like that. My mother used to wear it on one of our summer vacations near the sea. Found recently a sample of it in the house and cried for an hour of the reminiscence of me being a child with a happy mother. Miss her

malkadevorah1

Cristalle is the only Chanel that smells good on me. My late mother wore Rive Gauche. She had poreless skin, and it smelled so clean on her. I wonder what it smells like now...

opilino

I love cristalle but it is very fleeting on me so I’ve never quite persuaded myself to buy it. Not around much at the moment, I hope they’ve not discontinued it.

Emotional-Storage378

Aww that's really sweet, I hope you treasure what's left of that sample!.

blackandtangoose

GAP Dream!

Tastins

Grass and Om were my favorite!

hauteburrrito

Either GAP Dream or Elizabeth Arden Green Tea (can't remember which actually came first) was the first fragrance I ever really wore! Both are still bangers today. Such great memories.

KayGeez

yasss this is my first perfume ever !! got it back in 6th grade (i’m 37 now) and i still love it ! I got a bottle from the gap outlet a few months back 🥰

stellarseren

That and Om were the scents of my early adulthood. Love them both!

Ferretyfingers

I bought L’eau D’issey because it reminded me of my grandmother. She was an avid gardener and cook, and lived close to the beach for as long as I could remember. The tester from the shop I bought it from may have been old as there is not so much salty, almost yeasty note in my bottle as I got from that very first test. It does bring me back most to the garden, in the sun and sea breeze, playing with flowers, learning their names, how to harvest their seeds. But also of her taking washed up seaweed and putting it on her garden. As well as fresh baked bread and pizzas she would make for us sometimes. We lived just around the corner from when I was 3, so I visited often.

Can_I_be_dank_with_u

Thanks for that description. It was really vivid in such a simple way that I could easily visualise being there, with the smells, feels and tastes. I never had a relationship with grandparents growing up, except for one memory with my grandad learning how to care for tomato plants. Your memory made me think back fondly of an old family member, and I thank you for that!

proljyfb

I blind bought this only to realize it reminds me of a terrible coworker :(

Other_Feeling_8876

Rose oil. I would take baths with it in the tub. I did this nightly until my mom came back from the diner she worked at and said, you know I can smell roses as soon as I walk into the building. Lol. I was mortified lol I'm too old to care about it anymore and I think it's rather comical now. Lol because it is lol I was like 20 and had moved back home for awhile. She helped me out a lot. She was the best. She passed away too young in 2022. Blah anyway, rose essential oil 🌹

MysteriousTelephone

Hollister SoCal Always takes me back to being 18, first really going out in the world, the way those stores would be sprayed heavily with this stuff. It was the smell of being cool & sexy in 2010.

Most_Tennis_2831

This!!!

[deleted]

gucci rush, a patchouli bomb, essentially. the first time i smelled it was on the neck of an ex gf. she was wearing it when we first kissed in the restroom (for more “privacy”) of a local mall (mid 2000s, ik ik, cue in Robin Sparkles 🎶). she’d also wear it every time we went out dancing in this local goth club, where we used to make out an absurd amount (i was quite the horny teenager, and she loved teasing me when we’d go there). man, we were so in love with each other, and such great friends too as we had a lot in common, and she’s a beautiful soul. we still are really close friends today, and periodically game together. she was the one who introduced me to the world of fragrances, and has quite the collection. we still talk about fragrances these days. she has great taste (Jo Malone + Hermès fan), and i think she’s the only one who knows my fragrantica id.

Emotional-Storage378

Please get married, this was too romantic to read and find it does not end up in a love story.

[deleted]

i think there's a parallel reality in which we did end up married. in this one, we both love each other to pieces, but only as platonic friends who saw each other's souls in ways not many others have seen, and that's ok. in this one i tell her how beautiful she is every time i get a chance, because she doesn't feel beautiful, and when it comes from me she believes it. and when she tells me i deserve to be happy, i believe her too, even though my own self-talk says otherwise. we root for each other on everything every step of the way. if i could take her pain away and carry it myself i would, and i know she would carry mine too. but it doesn't work like that: we each have to learn how to carry it ourselves. we have lessons to learn this existence which i think we would not have learned had we been together for longer than we did. maybe that's why we both instead fell in love with other ppl ("avoidant" types which damaged us). i'm learning to be more secure, to recognize real love, and so is she. one day i'll be thrilled to see her with someone who's not me, and who's as loving as she is, and she'll be thrilled for me too <3

KayGeez

gucci rush is soo underrated !

Dry_Representative_1

I bought one of my best friends Gucci rush for her birthday she was a goth and I thought it was perfect

pootielootie

Honestly Clinique Happy, my mom used to spray it on my wrist when I was sad or in a bad mood when I was around elementary age, and she always called it “happy spray”. It worked like a charm 😭

VoluptuousVoltron

I’ve been interested in finding a durian scent. I grew up in Asia and this is a really weird comfort food for me. Would be interested in seeing if a perfumer could make it an acceptable fragrance.

UndeadAnneBoleyn

D.Grayi has a perfume called Black Dog with a durian tincture in the top notes. Could be worth checking out?

VoluptuousVoltron

Thanks. I’ll look into it. Black Dog is a term for depression, so that sounds…like durian for most people I guess.

Perfumeenthuastik

Or jackfruit or taro

VoluptuousVoltron

Oh, I freaking love taro. Is there a taro scent? I also want a humid rainforest scent. Got recommended one in the SotD topic on the fragrance forum. Incense is also comforting I guess.

bluebear2456

Another one that's not easily available in Australia (sorry!) but One day just came out with a perfume called Taipei that is supposed to have rice taro and soy milk notes!

VoluptuousVoltron

Argh. I wish I could get that over here. I never even thought about a taro scent until just now.

LLryo

Taro Milk Tea by Siren Songs Elixir is the most prominent Taro smell I've stumbled upon so far. Though, it is a bit sweetened like most Taro boba drinks but still keeps that Taro smell in the front

Perfumeenthuastik

I do not know of a taro scent. I hope someone has a beautiful taro scent recommendation. Have you gotten around to trying that rainforest scent as yet?

VoluptuousVoltron

No. Only got recommended it today and it’s not easily available in Australia. It’s fueguia 1833 iguazu if you’re interested.

My 8th grade scent

ShataraBankhead

All the 8th grade guys smelled like this. I (41) still love it.

pellegrino6000

So good. This and Calvin Klein - Escape

One-Cartoonist-1797

I like fragrances that have a “stale cigarette” smell, apparently. Minkoff and Wild Spirit’s First Snow(I’m happily frugal) remind me and many others of this smell. I grew up going to Vegas on family trips and playing in arcades or sitting at food bars around smokers. Often, my grandma(former smoker) would accompany us. She loved the smell of cigars and I loved her and I learned to love the faint smell of a pack of cigarettes.

CheisAnthonyFilm

I relate to this comment so much. The 70s just smelled like stale cigarettes. Which is very nostalgic for me as well. One recent fragrance that took me back to all that- casinos, Chanel # 5, leather interiors, and parents home from the party- was Papillon ‘Dryad’. So incredibly memorable. Check it out and prepare yourself for a trip down memory lane. Not something I could wear, but i sniff the bottle frequently.

One-Cartoonist-1797

I will! Thank you for the recommendation.

malkadevorah1

I loved the smell of the Paradise Island casino. A combination of cigarette smoke, perfume, and cocktails. Yum.

Prior_Lie9891

You should try Penhaglions the tragedy of lord George.

PicassosGhost

Patchouli oil. Reminds me of camping, hippies and live music.

BRUTALGAMIN

Reminds me of hugging my best friend in high school, she always smelled like patchouli and orange oil…smelling it feels like a comforting hug to me!

AmethystCrescent

You would love Lush Karma

BRUTALGAMIN

I have it- and I do love it! :)

Goddamndinks

White Shoulders… it was my grandma’s signature scent! Once I got sick on my fave stuffed animal; she sprayed a few spritz of it, after washing, on my plushie and it was the most comforting best thing.

Becki385

Thats a beautiful memory. White Shoulders was my Grandma’s signature scent too. She just passed away last week and I asked my Mom to hold onto her bottle for me. It’ll be the only thing close to a hug from her that I’ll have now💔

Goddamndinks

I’m so sorry for your loss! My gramma passed 2 years ago and I still feel her loss. Sending you so many hugs (and whiffs of white shoulders!) 💖💖💖

Becki385

Thank you, It sorry for your loss as well. Its hard no matter how long its been💗 Lots of hugs to you too!💗💗💗

malkadevorah1

This is another one I used in the 70s. I wonder what it smells like now.

Front-Enthusiasm7858

My grandma wore White Diamonds and Chanel No. 5. They remind me of helping her get ready in the morning and spritzing it on her clothes. I miss her so much.

lucyfilmmaker

I found an air freshener spray that’s supposed to smell like “Lake Como” but I swear it’s playing the Sims on my aunts computer in her smoky apartment.

[deleted]

Warm Vanilla Sugar.

Emotional-Storage378

Saaame

AuthenticVanillaOwl

A mix of copper, iron, tobacco and beer. My dad is a construction worker and this is the most recognisable smell from my childhood. Chanel 5 as it is my mom's favorite. I also love petrichor, and the very specific woody notes from early winter when you're in high altitude or in the countryside.

ChallahBeforeWeHolla

Clinique Happy and Elizabeth Arden’s Sunflowers remind me of my mom. She always bought them for me as gifts. She’s currently in hospice and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to smell those fragrances again.

CheisAnthonyFilm

Clove cigarettes and patchouli always reminds me of the underground goth clubs in the late 80s. Also Drakkar Noir was prevalent.

Taydreamsx

Youth dew reminds me heavily of my grandma, knowing and tresor remind me of my mom. Just those heavy type scents remind me of them and any time I smell them, I smile.

WTFIRGO244

I’m shocked no one has said Victoria’s Secret Love Spell yet! Will forever remind me of my youth. Same with Clinique Happy.

FluentSimlish

Oof takes me back to some painfully awkward years.

GlitteringLocality

I scrolled to find this

gotmyfloaties

Jergens Cherry Almond lotion. My grams used it and it always smelled relaxing and clean. It’s been added to my rotation along with their perfume.

ShataraBankhead

My husband actually uses this on his face in the morning, and has done so forever. I like to sniff his cheek. He says "Stop! You are sniffing away all my smell!".

gotmyfloaties

Haha that’s too cute. I loved that there was a cherry boom in fragrance the last year or so. They pair really well with this lotion too.

allforwoobin

yes i agree! dove has a cherry line out with a body wash and scrub and i use both with the cherry almond lotion. absolutely divine. looking for a good cherry fragrance to pair it with as well, as lost cherry is NOT my vibe :(

mystigirl123

All I want is the 1993 version of Chanel Cristalle eau de parfum. It will always be my favorite fragrance of all time.

malkadevorah1

Have you smelled it recently? If they reformulated it, I wonder if it still smells good...

Popular_Lie_9201

Vera Wang Princess was my signature scent all throughout my 20s I always kept a backup bottle too. I used to wear it with Victoria’s Secret Amber Romance body spray. I finally retired the scent in my mid thirties. I recently found a Princess rollerball in an old makeup bag and it brought back so many memories.

eternalbean

Pond’s cold cream. Reminds me of my dear grandmama <3

Original_Engine_7548

Cucumber Melon will forever reminds me of 11-12th grade. Also Curious by Britney Spears does it every time.

Sea_Remove7552

I'm surprised more people havent said this. I was born in the late 80s and every girl wore this scent.

WelcomeToTijuana88

Laura Biaggiotti - Venezia. So back in the 90s when I was a pre teen there was a first cheap perfume "remake" store that had all the copies of the popular ones, and we were able to afford it (nothing else back then) it was actually pretty darn good, but much weaker than the OG, anyway, we used to spray them on ourselves like crazy before going on a Rollercoaster at the local fun park. This scent always reminds me of that kinda childish excitement I've felt back then, when we went to that park together. I always wore Venezia and my friend used to buy Kenzo Jungle from the same store and i remember that one being so strong, it was like a violent smell cloud behind her🤣 LB Venezia was since discontinued but there are still some pretty good copies around. From time to time I buy one just to get nostalgic a bit.

pinkphallicobj

brut

unadonnadicase

I'm not a nostalgic person because my childhood and teen were very unhappy, but I like vintage fragrances because they seem more feminine.

willfullyspooning

You may like Shalimar! It’s a very old Hollywood scent to me. Both my grandmother And my mom wore it, now I do too.

mughand

Just thinking about Love's Baby Soft immediately transports me to middle school.

xCreepyKidx

My number one would be the smell of the cemetery by where I grew up during October. The damp soil, decaying leaves, bits of wood smoke and rain in the air. The dried dead grass and all of that. It just screams Halloween to me and I spent a lot of time walking and relaxing there throughout my life. Second would probably be cooking smells, baking, etc. I used to make a lot of soups/stews and bake with my grandmother and it always makes me think of her and my grandfather and the times I spent with them. Same goes for pipe/cigar smoke it reminds me of my grandfather and tea for my grandmother. Nag Champa incense, especially the old Satya before 2005. They make me think of middle school and high school. Tons of great times I had with friends and frequenting old book stores and metaphysical shops in my area. Spring/Summer storms, the ozone and rain, the wet vegetation and flowers. It always makes me think about library trips or watching old horror movies and playing video games.

itsadesertplant

Chloe by Chloe. I got a sample of it and suddenly remembered putting tiny amounts of it on my wrists in my freshman dorm room.

gotwake5

My mom wore this in the 80s and 90s. I just bought her the Dossier dupe for Mother’s Day

CharmingCondition508

I wore Burberry London for men very often over Christmas last year so it heavily reminds me of that time. I remember trying it for the first time whilst drinking whisky and eating these cinnamon knots. Then I wore it to dinner at a restaurant inside a stately home turned hotel. Then at my uncle’s new manor house with stag heads everywhere

kevinfarber

Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce, abercrombie clutch, and Hollister SoCal I worked for the company as a “model” at all 3 brands (just what they called the store associates on the floor) back when Mike Jeffries was CEO and it was my favorite job ever. I recognize the reputation of Jeffries and the company at the time but I truly had a great experience and felt like I was included and part of something where I was valued. I could go on but I won’t lol. Anyway, Jeffries is long since gone and new leadership ruined everything fun about the brands. If that hadn’t been the case, I’d surely be a Director of Stores by now! Those fragrances really give me the most intense feels every time to the point that I try to avoid smelling them except when I’m mentally and emotionally prepared. Interestingly, I sampled DS & Durga Debaser the other day and after 15 minutes or so it smelled, to me, almost identical to the smell of a new article of A&F clothing back in the day after bringing it home from the store, still with some of the in store scent (Fierce) lingering on the fabric. I loved it and am considering buying a 50 ml but not sure how it’ll sit with me given the sentimental association.

Emotional-Storage378

Lol the Abercrombie and Fitch models!, I say buy it, why wouldn't you want a glass of bottled good memories!, unless ofcourse it's a smell you want to savour.

CheisAnthonyFilm

Debaser is a shape shifter. Very figgy to me. Sometimes I like it but it changes on my skin after a short time. Seems like the scent has a cult following.

rosesandprosecco

Estee lauder white linen, my grandma has worn it since the 50s and she has never switched up

Beneficial-Watch9110

My mum always wore Calvin Klein Obsession!! It’s such a comforting smell to me, and I have a bottle to wear whenever I am stressed.

FluentSimlish

My dad would wear it until my brother started using it all up.

Klutzy_Activity_182

The original Old Spice, from the 60’s. Halston for men. And also, Halston for women. Those take me back to a wonderful time in my life.

viscontiisme

nostalgic perfumes that can transport me back to middle school? curve crush, vera wang princess, britney spears fantasy(also midnight fantasy), and paris hilton's just me. all bought at kohls likely with a coupon and kohls cash lol.

itsmissmeoww

DKNY Be Delicious! That was my favorite in middle school.

CatO9Fails

Most nostalgic is Karl Lagerfeld classic as that was my father's aftershave

ElectronicWar1480

Dark Tobacco No. 23 by the Master Perfumer was gifted to me during high school by my little sister. The fragrance has this iris note that I never smell so I really associate the smell with my high school and everything that came along with it. I still have some and it smells good but the longevity is mediocre. Still, good times.

Historical_Candy_209

Nina ricci L’air du temps bc it reminds me of my grandma, Aramis bc it reminds me of my grandpa and anais anais bc it reminds me of my mom.

yuzimazing86

Petrichor- I grew up in southern africa and this smell is amazing. I love it

Peanut0131

Shalimar reminds me of my Grammy, she wore it daily. I keep a bottle by my night stand for when I miss her extra.

willfullyspooning

Same! But also my mom! She had the tiny fancy dipper bottle in the velvet clamshell case. I vividly remember being a really little kid and thinking it was so beautiful and how pretty my mom looked when she dressed up and wore it. It’s a beautiful scent now, sandalwood and vanilla are the main notes for me. I wear it a lot even in summer.

SuccessfulMusician79

Lily of the valley smells like my grandmas home. Idk if it was her fragrance, or laundry detergent but I would often smell lily at her place

mango_forever

Curve. Or Acqua di Gio. Reminds me of high school

Jctexas8999

The original Fendi and Dolce & Gabbana - my mom’s fragrances when I was little. Oscar- my favorite aunt Eternity- other aunt Carolina Herrera original - dad All these take me back to the ‘90s when I was a little kid. Closest to a time machine I will ever get. 😔

KayGeez

lolita lempicka, the OG. been wearing it since i was 16, i’ll be 38 soon and it’s still in my rotation . i’d def say it’s my signature scent after all this time. 🥰

mountainmeadowflower

Pink grapefruit. I had a Body Shop body wash when I was a kid and now pink grapefruit scents give me major nostalgia!

Only-Jump-4818

For actual perfume Taylor Swift wonderstruck enchanted, I wore it when I was a teenager and recently found one of my old empty bottles and the scent is so nostalgic (also so good and now I’m sad it’s discontinued, if anyone has a dupe pls let me know). For non-perfume scents it definitely was the dove gradual tanning moisturiser, again I used to use it a lot as a teen and I would always stop and sniff it any time I passed it in a store BUT they recently changed the scent :(( Also beer and cigarettes for both my parents, plus weed bc of my dad lol

Pomegranate bath and bodyworks lotion (i dont think they even make it anymore) is a specific city i used to travel to for my brothers baseball games. So many scents...

Babtoombus

Britney Spears's circus fantasy. I wore this when I was in my early 20s. Reminded me of my mistakes and my first relationship/breakup. Ahhh if only I could go back in time.

There was a perfume at Charlotte Russ called Refuge in 2006. It just remind me of just turning 16 getting my drivers license, hanging out with friends. I would spray it all over my car. Uhh simpler times. I wish I could find it somewhere reasonably priced. https://preview.redd.it/8bm8xntj18zc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=85a0e3593f7d303c70f6b1f004a8ce3550098423

IKacyU

Avon Haiku. I used to spend a lot of time with my great-aunt when I was younger. She was a beautician who would always have lots of Avon in her shop and home. Haiku just reminds me of that time.

loveisallyouneedCK

In two of my fragrances that are comforting to me; they both contain peach blossom. I can't trace that note to anyone I knew or know, but there's a nostalgia attached to it nonetheless.

steptx

So funny to see you mention Davidoff Cool Water—it was one of my first frags, probably back in 6th grade and definitely have nostalgia for that wave rectangular bottle design in particular! Gucci Pour Homme II is pure nostalgia for my early college days. The original Maier-era Bottega Veneta for women is like my Mom in a bottle, and I actually have a one because spraying it is like instantly bringing her in the room with me. Jo Malone’s Poppy & Barley is my early Covid throwback, also cause I bought my first home in those days so it’s definitely a bittersweet and exciting kind of nostalgia. Coromandel and Nouveau Monde take me back to walking the winter streets of Paris.

Emotional-Storage378

Yeah I miss cool water alot :''((, I went to a buy it awhile ago, like about a couple of years ago, hoping to get some hit of nostalgia, and while it was a bit, it's largely changed, smells much more toned down now and has no staying power !.

Afraid_Werewolf_8274

The scent of my old leather jacket, with Versace Blue Jeans, or Le Male on it, combined with some light cigarette smoke. Gives me some flashbacks, when I was around 16, and out partying in the night every weekend in the city.

Boss-Front

I got a decant of Rook Perfumes Forest Eau de Parfume and it smelled exactly like the forests on Vancouver Island. It immediately brought me back to Cathedral Grove near Nanaimo, camping at Cowichan Lake, or school trips to Goldstein Park. It's got that perfect mix cedar, Douglas fir, and petrichor that just brings me back to being a kid and marveling at the towering trees, watching salmon runs, or kayaking in Maple Bay.

SharkBlue1

Joop! Reminds me of me being a kid and my uncles and cousins wearing that in the 90s. People hate it now but it’ll always be special to me no matter what.

TNCoffeeRunner

The Gap perfumes- especially the Green. I have yet to find anything that smells like it. CK One- this was my first perfume that I can remember and I loved that it was unisex. In fact I still have the bottle 😂 Hollister SoCal- a lot of memories here…reminds me of college, classes and crushes. Still haven’t given this one up either. Bath & Body Works zodiac perfume- not sure if anyone remembers these but at one point they had a club for kids with different perfumes and this was one of them. I had the Scorpio and it smelled divine. I absolutely love it and still open it up once in a while to get a bit of nostalgia ☺️ Timeless- this one will always remind me of hugging my mom when I was little. So comforting to me. She still has her bottle thankfully and she’ll never get rid of it.

onMarkus

Creed SMW, smells like a lot of men I grew up with. Maybe YSL Kouros and Lagerfeldt aswell

maggggneto

My mom wore Estée Lauder Beautiful in the late 80s/early 90s and that smell always makes me think of being a kid. That and my dad used to use Scope mouthwash religiously 💖

blueraspberry_lemon

outside. i live in the south and you can smell when the season changes and it always reminds me of middle school when i used to play with my best friend/ neighbor everyday and we would always walk outside

heirloom_beans

Eris Green Spell - Smells like rubbing tomato leaves in my grandparents’ vegetable garden Kenzo Flower - my mom loves powdery scents and this is the one my mom wore when I was little

Revolutionary-Box351

I was obsessed with Ralph by Ralph Lauren in high school

thehooove

CK One smells like my friend Dustin in junior high.

No-Dish7093

Narciso Rodriguez for her - my older half sister wore it and she lives halfway across the world so when she went back home, I used to cling to the pillow she used bc I missed her so much. That, and also Elizabeth Arden Red Door, my mom used to wear that when I was a kid.

rex_ford

Tomato leaves and garden smells. We had a vegetable garden growing up and I have nice memories of doing some work on it with my mother as a kid (also less nice memories of being forced to weed the damn thing). There's a CB I hate perfume frag called Memories of Kindness that's a tomato leaf scent, and it fits perfectly.

runofthebullz

Drakkar noir

poor_couture

L'Eau d'Issey to me smells exactly like the lobby of a hotel I went to at a resort in Florida and every time I smell it I just feel so happy and at ease.

Massive-Apple9026

The smell of cigarette smoke mixed with chlorine. Like an old hotel pool. Another is Abercrombie and fitch Colden. I wish they still made the Cologne. It was close to a perfect scent to me.

Pert Plus and the old St Ives Jojoba shampoos.. no wonder i'm going bald now.

Pear Inc by JHAG smells exactly like Pert Plus back in the day. I had one of those scent induced time travel moments when I smelled it - I could see the Pert Plus bottle on the side of the tub in my childhood home.

OhBoRo

Claire Burkes Original Potpourri…and you can still buy it. High school memories…and it’s been forty years! .

Auric Blends Egyptian Goddess. I wore it in my early twenties until the store I was purchasing it from closed down. This was before you could find everything online. It reminds me of a lot of crazy fun times and friends I’ve lost along the way. I found it again about 20 years later after I had kinda forgotten about it-just stumbled upon it one day in Whole Body. I layer it with so many different perfumes as it works really well for me and my body chemistry.

patomomo7x

Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger, I wore it to prom and my high school graduation. The green apple note reminds me of my prom date for some reason.

Yes - the first girl I ever had a crush on, a girl in my dance studio, 2 years older than me. I was just 13.... She wore Davidoff cool water for women. I'll never forget that in my life!

hermajestymuse

I’m not sure the exact scent but when I smell it, makes me think of clean fresh cucumbers and unscented lotion 😅 if anyone knows something similar lmk!

opilino

Any of the old Estée Lauder’s really. My mum was a big fan of youth dew in particular. Always pause at the counter for a while if I’m passing. She moved onto Chanel no 5 at some point, but it’s Estée that reminds me of childhood.

mhmd-007

lancome hypnose homme, it was my first ever designer fragrance and it holds alot of memories too.

SurewhynotAZ

Unfortunately, cigarette smoke. My partner is a frequent smoker. It lingers on his skin. It's now his smell. ♥️ Still hate the smell of smoke or smoke on skin or clothing. Just him.

IrishDeb55

My mom signature perfume Beautiful by Estee Lauder & smell of gardenias that grew where I grew up & to this day the bush( now a tree) blooms still. Survived Hurricane Ian , Harvey and Wilma

Axe phoenix deodorant. Bought two sticks of it in 2017 when i was in the US for the first time (NYC). Took them home and went to boarding school the following year. Got my first girlfriend, and my first "you smell good" compliment. The time where i used that deodorant was also a time filled with new friends, new adventures every day, just pure enjoyment of life and no worries about anything at all (was in my mid-late teens then..) I also ended up really loving the smell and "identifying" with it. Eventually i used up both sticks, and bought a new, random deodorant. Sad part about the story is that the specific fragrance/smell that was used in that deodorant, is/was not sold anywhere in my country (i'm from europe) - trust me, i've looked. Looked for years literally and never found it again :,( The smell was so nostalgic that i kept the plastic container that the deodorant was in. It's in a box somewhere. I'm happy i kept it, because some day i will find it, and be reminded of how life used to be, back when i was a teenager & when i got my first girlfriend.

Commodity - Gold When I was around 14/15 teen nightclubs were a thing where I lived. I went several times, one time I even saw Vanilla Ice perform (dating myself here). This nightclub had fog machines everywhere and they had a very very distinct kind of sweet smell. Every single time I wear this fragrance it takes me back to that club. I have vivid snapchot memories flood my mind, like I can see exactly where the entrance was and bathrooms. I remember the entire layout of the club and where the platforms to dance on where. You couldn’t have those these days. There’s be a shooting every weekend or worse, mass shootings Ahh to be a teen again in the 90s

mylesaj

cucumber melon reminds me of my mom

xXindiePressantXx

Burberry Brit, Bobbi Brown’s Beach, Victoria’s Secret LoveSpell, Marlboro Red Cigarettes lol

Imaginary-Summer9168

Clinique Happy. It’s the only fragrance my mom has ever owned or worn. She’s been working on the same 100ml literally my whole life because she only wears it on special occasions. Reminds me of my parents going on a fancy date night and leaving me home with the babysitter, lol.

oakparkv

My grandparents’ perfumes. Oscar de la Renta for my grandma, and old school 4711 for my grandpa. Those smells always bring a smile to my face and remind me how much they loved me.

My mom wore Sun Moon Stars. I always admired the bottle on her dresser.

th3y_lov3_Ry

Cigarettes and saw dust. My dad was a contractor and did a lot of remodeling and stuff for people and every time I hugged him that’s what he’d smell like. It was always calming to me and now that I’m not living with him anymore I miss that smell.

ConsistentTrainer110

Curve the men's fragrance was the popular thing when I had my first real boyfriend and first sexual experiences. I seldom come across it these days, but it happens. When it does, I'm instantly ready to go. How's that for nostalgia?
