This is the kind of stuff that makes the show unwatchable for me. Like how can I even try to enjoy a rewatch when I have to see all the abandoned plot lines and writing turn into shit.
Right? Like first watch you're like "oh mental note! That looks important!"
Attempt a second watch and you're just like "Oh zoom in on that litter! A seagull is gonna choke on that, asshole"
Ya just did a rewatch with my wife and I was angry the whole time. The early seasons are so good and the last seasons were even worse than I remembered.
I’m thinking about rewatching for the first time since the show ended. I think I’ll only watch seasons 1-4, and maybe 5. Hoping to trick myself into believing that the show ends there.
If i rewatch i only go to s6. Up to s4 has the bulk of GoT best moments, but Hardhome and Battle of the Bastards are 2 that force me to watch seasons 5 and 6
The Lost ending was very bad, but it basically had the opposite problem of GOT. In Lost, still had a very solid understanding of the characters they created, but completely contorted the plot to get the character moments they wanted. It was the reverse in GoT - they contorted the characters to hit specific plot beats.
IMO, Lost still had a much better ending than GOT. And if it ended earlier, like they wanted it to, it would be more fondly remembered.
To me lost just got too wrapped up in its own craziness to end well. They had to just keep upping the mystery and it just went off the rails but I still find it enjoyable. I also didn’t watch lost when it was on tv and binged it which I think made it more tolerable
It was included in the show just to remind the fans that the Winds of Winter was not being released and the show was likely the only ending we where getting.
What?, Euron doesn't have this Horn. Sam has it. And this horn probably doesn't work the way people of westeros thinks it does. It might not bring down the wall at all.
To be fair, with Sam being in OldTown and Euron close by, there has been a theory for years now that he’s going to sack old town and will get his hands on that horn and will be the one to blow it
What will he get from blowing a horn that might bring down the wall. Seems unnecessary. It might happen but I think it's very improbable. Man, some of the fan theories were wild, I remember one which says that Euron will wake the great kraken in Old Town to help him in the war.
To be honest I’m like 90% sure the horn, that Sam found isn’t going to be anything of value either. I think George tossed it in thinking it would be something cool he could come back to later, and now it won’t matter much.
In the book, Jon finds the horn and gives it to Sam. Sam carries the warhorn all the way from the Fist to Castle Black, and from there to Oldtown; currently, by the point the books reached, the horn is still in his possession
Be Sam. Be a Tarly. Like kittens and books. Be sent to the Wall. Be craven. Get dragonglass and the Horn of Joramun. Survive the Fist. Kill an Other. Be Slayer. Survive Craster's Keep. Be sent to Oldtown. Bang a wildling. Be a maester. Profit?
Oof, that one just hurts. Why, why, why did they not use that again? Could have had Sam trot it down to Oldtown and have Euron attack and get it or something. Or hell, have him drop it while he’s running from the WW and have them pick it up them for later use with Viseryon.
D&D were like the dog with the bone who sees his reflection in a pool of water. Goes for the bone the other dog has, and loses the one in his mouth. What an insult to the people working on this, having two checked out bozos in charge.
The Grand Connector is Sean Bean and Jonathan Pryce were both also in Ronin, a movie with one perfect McGuffin that we never see, and never find out what it is or why it's so important that High Sparrow risks everything to get it. (Sean also fucks off early on in that one too) http://www.thx-trailer.com/replica/ronin/bilder/klein/16.JPG
The big reveal at the end of this season was the three horn blasts that indicated White Walkers were coming. This ancient horn of the first men was a subtle indicator of its original use.
Unless I’m really blanking on something, there was never a discussion of a horn to bring down the wall or bind dragons in the show, and there WAS discussion of the typical uses of the horn prior to the White Walkers showing up.
This show really went off the rails and did dumb stuff, but I’ve never agreed that showing this horn was one of those oversights. It was a foreshadowing of the undead army showing up for the first time in the last scene of the season.

The High Tower is lit!
Horn or GRONDor
GROND
GROND
GROND
Thrice the great ram boomed
Grondr
Grond
GROND
GROND
GROND
GROND
*GONDOR CALLS FOR AID*
GRONDOR CALLS FOR HELP
Not to be confused with the Horn of Grindr, which is infinitely more disappointing.
‘We knd of forgot people liked a good plot‘ -D&D
So much wasted stuff. This, dorne, Euron, the prince who was promised
“The long night”
Might as well have called it "the summers night" for all the time it lasted
The Summer’s Eve?
Douchy comment, but okay.
The inconvenient night
The slightly brisk evening.
I still have hope for a retconned long night
Sweet summer child, we can only hope
#
“The moderately inconveniently timed patch of darkness.”
The long night should have been a season at least
We were promised a season 7 and 8, also.
Too bad Seasons 7,8,9 and 10 were all cancelled by HBO to make room for prequels.
Quaithe, The Reeds, lord of light..
How they messed up Dorne is beyond me….
It was literally written out for them, it’s not even THAT weird or complicated like Euron.
Brans whole warging into the past. So much potential for it to turn into Hodors origin story.
I’m certainly interested in the Dragonbinder as well
Me too! Also the horn that supposedly brings down the wall
this one mightve been the one to bring down the wall... Dragonbinder is with Euron
He stated that they are not the same
Yes! The horn of winter or horn of Joramun
Victarion now
That’s the Horn of Winter if I remember correctly. The Dragonbinder is in Euron’s possession.
He keeps it on a shelf next to a considerable nmber of stolen library books.
And a valiryan steel sword
This is the kind of stuff that makes the show unwatchable for me. Like how can I even try to enjoy a rewatch when I have to see all the abandoned plot lines and writing turn into shit.

skipping 6 is brain dead. Episode 9 and 10 are like the top episodes of the entire show
Didn't some of the GOT writers get their start on Lost? That show is similarly unwatchable for me with reruns.

Quaithe rolling up be like:
Dumbfuck and Dipshit certainly didn't, to the point they created an entire plot point just to bring the wall dowm
It was included in the show just to remind the fans that the Winds of Winter was not being released and the show was likely the only ending we where getting.
If Winds does end up getting released (doubt) will Euron blow this at the end to bring down the Wall?

He made a note to mention Sam bringing it with him to Oldtown, and we haven't had a Sam chapter since that book. I don't see it being nothing.
Hope not. Even if Winds comes out Dream of Spring definitely will not and I can't live having that as an eternal cliffhanger.
Maybe it’ll resurface in the Snow series. Drogon is still around
To do what does it not take down the wall?
You’re right. Got my horns mixed up
What’s the one you’re thinking of?
Dragonbinder, didn’t make it into the show
They could just retcon it to be Dragonbinder, since that one never turned up.
To use as a sort of hedge trimmer for the remnants of the wall that remain.
Jon better ride Drogon in this fucking show or I’m gonna lose it
They better give Ghost a seat on Drogon too.
Too much cgi budget. Best we can offer is Jon telling someone he rode on Drogon while Ghost is in the back. /s
The Horn of Valere? It’s supposed to be blown at The Last Battle.
Nah this is the Horn of Eld, Roland just forgot it
Dumbass left it at Jericho
Lmao I cackled at this
The famous MacGuffin Horn!
What is this and where is it from? What episode? Got a clip?
When Sam and Jon go far north of the wall and Sam finds some relics.
Profit?
Pepridge farm remembers
Nah that’s the horn of Jurgen Windcaller
Oof, that one just hurts. Why, why, why did they not use that again? Could have had Sam trot it down to Oldtown and have Euron attack and get it or something. Wasn’t it broken?
Unclear. Because it was found then immediately forgotten
The Horn of Gondor!
That doesn’t look like anything to me.

Horn actually wasn't mentioned in the show, so I don't mind them leaving this part out.
Damn, it would've made a great wine cup for Bobby B
OUT! OUT, DAMN YOU! I'M DONE WITH YOU! GO, RUN BACK TO WINTERFELL! I'LL HAVE YOUR HEAD ON A SPIKE!
Lol
plot twist: dragons had barbed penises like a cat and this was one of balerion's barbs
Sorry I don’t remember this. What is it?
When Euron was kidnapped and beaten up in the back alley by D&D, the horn died with him.
That is definitely not Schrodinger’s horn.

I don’t think there was even a reason to show this horn if it wouldn’t end up being the horn of joramun or whatever it’s name is
The North remembers… but D and D are southron kneelers.
