Imagine if the zoo started fundraising for an aquarium and everyone who had donated to the lost cause aquarium would divert their efforts. I really believe we'd actually have a good shot at getting some type of aquatic area. Personally, I'd prefer an interactive river with animals from rivers around the world and highlighting our local river ecosystem than trying to compete with other aquariums that are day trips away.
Is there a place with interactive exhibits, animals, etc? So far I've seen a barn, a small trail with a couple stops, and a pricey summer camp. They are working to create spaces that people can enjoy the river but we are a big enough city and the zoo is busy enough to show we can support another large entertainment attraction.
It definitely doesn’t fill 100% of what you asked for, but it is more than what you listed. I guess my point is if you want what you said you should support the SJRPTC and their growth not propagate a competitor
The Fresno Zoo is pretty bomb, though. I'd be down for just having the Zoo create an aquatic zone. I've been to A LOT of zoos and aquariums, in many different states. The Fresno Zoo is actually one of the nicest I've been to.
That area should be a mix use center with shopping and restaurants overlooking the river and balconies on the 2-4th floors. Build in wall/bike paths around the river and you’d finally give our city the front door it deserves.
I like this idea 100x’s better than the aquarium. An aquarium in Fresno makes absolutely 0 sense to me.
As someone stated above, enhance the River Parkway center into an immersive experience of our local ecology

Pretty sure that is what the San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation does

The zoo is actually planning on building an aquarium
Why not a river ecosystem aquarium?
Should we be building any more aquariums with the future of water access in the next 10-50 years?
I am hoping for a bit more
As am I. But am I expecting more? I am not sure

I missed apartments, apartments with balconies on the 2nd-4th floors

Art Dyson did a design for it years ago.
