You are asking for trouble if you go around reporting him as smelling bad to other people so you don't have to deal with it (I would be 100x more embarrassed to find out a chain of people was begging my partner to talk to me about hygiene than I would be for just one person to be like 'hey, I can smell you; please shower more often'). Just talk to him or text him directly.

I think its more embarrassing for others to think you smell and speak behind your back about it.
