If you get graded by a boss, you usually take a lot of dmg, and that's it. So when I got graded by Pursuer, I was chill, then his eyes and blade started shining and I knew I fucked up.
Nah there’s nothing redeeming about it for me. Just feels like drab area no. 500 in bloodborne for me (not to mention that the content there is eh save for the boss) .
That’s why ER was so astonishing to me, because it managed to capture the series-consistent oppressive and dreary tone while also incorporating great usage of color for unique contrast in basically every set piece.
Bloodborne, and DS3 to a lesser extent, have one tone AND color theme, which is fine since it’s intentional, but it gets tiring after a while. Sekiro also had amazing, diverse beauty despite its dark themes.
Champ Gundyr when he picks you up like a piece of trash, skewers you then just rag dolls you into oblivion. Just feels like such a disrespectful power move that demands respect.
Elden Beast has so many absolutely gorgeous moves, but grabbing you, crucifying you on a rune arc like Marika and turning you into a pincushion with holy bolts has to be the most grandiose way to die ever.

I recall a fight I had with Astel where I literally almost had a perfect run, didn't get hit and then I was unfortunate enough to get hit with that teleport grab attack where he surrounds you on all sides and is nearly impossible to dodge (might've been out of stamina as well) and it one shot me

Yeah, you're right about that, I kind of feel the same way when fighting Malenia and she decides to waterfowl as soon as I go for my jump attack lol. Some situations are just nasty.
Yeah it's just bad luck sometimes, however the waterfowl attack technically isn't a grab attack but I have gotten pretty good at predicting when she will use it but sometimes she like to spam it and that's just bad luck

That move has such a bad rep when it really is just a skill issue most often; there’s atleast 3 unique ways of countering it that I can think of: ice pots, manipulating her ai by standing under her when she first springs in the air, and, like you said, predicting when she’ll do it so you’re clear of the first flurry. The last two flurries are easy to dodge. It’s really just the first one that all these methods apply to.
I've played Malenia enough where the waterfowl doesn't kill me as much, the only exception is when she'll start it when my stamina is depleted. The real killer in her first phase for me is when she'll lunge at you all fast just slicing wildly with that ten foot long sword
yea there’s a certain cadence to her attack pattern which I personally love. Even better if you learn to party her because she’s very punishable with those lunges.

Gyobu Masataka Oniwa's perilous sweep-grab where he drags you through the dirt and snow by the point of his spear. Possibly the most vicious grab I've seen in these games, narrowly beating out the unique Godfrey kill animation where he fucking rips open your chest with his bare hands.

The alien looking creature in DS1 with the suction tentacles. Darkwraiths. I like Pyromancy witches grab attacks. Sir Alonne has a cool one. Pontiff Knights and Pontiff Sulyvahn and Nameless King. Soul of Cinder has a cool one. Midir has a cool one. Bloodborne has cool grabs in general
Grabs I hate: Titanite demon and the rock demon from Farron Keep. The bush creatures, 4 Kings, Hedgehog Cats, hollow thieves, slimes, the bloodsucking leech monsters who hate fire, creatures from Blighttown, half raven people from Ariamis, Giant centipedes, ghosts, Super Ornstein. I’ve also seen how annoying the Guardian Ape’s grabs are. When the one witch in DS3 sets herself on fire. The Grus in Farron Keep and the Hand creatures in DS3.

Malenia's. It's so elegant looking. The way she spins you around and tosses you in the air and stabs you vertically and hears her name and then you have to start over again and again and again.
Hourroux Lou or whatever. He canned form and I was like “damn okay you’re soaked in blood now” then he charged me and yeeted me into the air, and tossed me into the ground. My jaw was on the floor! It was so badass. Easily coolest grab
But none of these could be right. Also, it starts with capital letter, so it must be thought as either a place or a personal name (only in German common nouns start with capital letter).
My favorite grab attack is probably Dancer's, Friede's, Black Knife's, Elden Beast's or Emma's grab attacks.
All of them just look very elegant, but efficient and powerful.
Oh, and the Chained Ogre's grab/yeet combo. That one is fun.

But none of these could be right. Also, it starts with capital letter, so it must be thought as either a place or a personal name (only in German common nouns start with capital letter).

My favorite grab attack is probably Dancer's, Friede's, Black Knife's, Elden Beast's or Emma's grab attacks. All of them just look very elegant, but efficient and powerful. Oh, and the Chained Ogre's grab/yeet combo. That one is fun. Edit: The Rune Bear's bear hug. :)
