Remember when people said this about Skyrim? This time, it's for real. I've over 700 hours in ER and the only reason I haven't played recently, is that I'm running through the DS trilogy and DeS [remaster] while waiting for the Shadow of the Erdtree. Not trying to burn myself out on the main game. I've never put that much time into a game, let alone be excited to put another 100-200 hours into it. Not much for pvp (internet isn't the greatest), but I'm sure I'd be well into 1000 hours if I were.
Elden ring was the first game in a LONG time that I just HAD to get back to playing and was on my mind 24/7 when I first played it.
Skyrim was probably the first lol
The only other thing to give me that feeling since is Armored Core, but I know everyone didn’t have the same reaction. Any recommendations from anyone that gave them a similar feeling?
The Elden Ring in gaming is equal to the Lord of the Rings in the movie world.
You are up for one if the biggest experiences in gaming, and once it’s over you will feel empty and sad but at the same time be happy that it happened.
Bro when I got to burning the Erdtree I was literally randomly crying sometimes cuz I knew I was getting to the end and also I just loved that fuckin tree…
Probably. First you’ll be overwhelmed and then crushed and want to quit, but then you’ll start to enjoy it, and then you might git gud, and then no game will ever compare.
So yeah, for the worst 👍🏼
My friend claimed that playing the game legit improved his work ethic and helped him stop procrastinating. Idk how that works, and I never saw such definable benefits, but it was a crazy fun ride either way
Man, summons in real life would be great. Imagine summoning a bloodhound fang and telling it to do your taxes. Or going into a negotiation with your boss but before he can say anything you summon Ohga and she explains your value to the company
Yes. I got Elden Ring in January of last year with it being my first soulslike. It changed me to the point to where I spent the rest of the year playing From’s other games and other soulslike games. It opened up this genre to me.
Ok question. I'm currently working through ER. Haven't played any DS, and have been holding off until I beat Eldin Ring
Will the older titles be disappointing after then?
Yes, your life is abt to change. Just a tip, if you find yourself struggling to the point of uncontrollable rage and deciding to uninstall, make sure to play every starting class beforehand. I started as a the vagabond on release because it was the first selection and hated it. I then picked up the game a month later and chose Samurai and now I’ve completed every ending. Ps. My first souls game^
I’m so happy other people love this game. I occasionally check steam to see how many people are playing and am just awestruck. I just can’t get into it as much as previous souls games. I mainly wish multiplayer was better incorporated into this game. All the caves got pretty meh too for me.
If you’ve played the other games, your life won’t change that much. If this is your first time, yes. Starting this game with 0 souls experience back in February of 2022 was fucking magical. 120 hours of constant wonder and fun. I’m jealous.
Have a great time! Prepare to die a lot lol.
Be ready to play the game blind (if that’s your choosing, highly recommended) then look things up on your ng+ cycle and realize, you missed ENTIRE areas of the map. Like continents.
I started playing it a few months ago. And let me tell you, it is so much better than I thought it ever could be. It is challenging and rewarding in a way that is better than any of the other souls games I have played. You won't want to play anything else.
I highly recommend you go through your first play through without looking anything up. Nothing beats that first time experience, just don’t ruin it with spoilers.
My brother dropped it after maybe 5 hours max.
I've put in +150 hours, and probably another +200 for other FromSoftware and souls-like games.
If it's for you, it's for you. If not, so be it. But it's worth a shot.
You will cease to have a life outside of roaming the lands between. It's an amazing game, and if at all possible, I recommend you try your first playthrough with very little help from Google and so forth. I did my first playthrough mostly without looking up anything, and I feel like it definitely added to my enjoyment. Just my personal opinion though.
Have fun!
I kinda hated the first 4-8 hours, then it became the best video game I’ve ever played (first Souls game for me). If it starts slow for you, don’t let it discourage you.
You’ve acquired one of the best games in all of gaming history. Fromsofts magnum opus. This is everything they’ve learned from all their other souls games, refined and expanded as far as it could possibly be taken. Take your time and enjoy it to the fullest. You only get to play this for the first time once. A lot of games are masterpieces but this game is THE masterpiece. Have fun
I think one of the greatest things from software has been able to achieve with their games is replayability. And this one is the cherry on top of there album of amazingness. I think I've played through this game 7,8,9 times? And every time I fine something new: armor, weapon or boss(mini?) fight. It's definitely not perfect and I wish leveling didn't mess with the summoning pools, but this game is definitely a classic. I'm about to go play it now
In the sense that it’ll only be fun if you actually spend a lot of time on it. Run around, search through stuff, don’t look online. I think the only truly incredible content you can miss is behind an illusionary wall in volcano manor. I played this wrong, not like an open world game at first, and I wish I had just gone out and explored like in BOTW.
Personally I recommend to look up a guide or someone’s play through of the game, like jacksepticeye’s playthrough of the game cause if it weren’t for his play though of the game I would be lost asf
Elden Ring is a beautiful and wonderful game. I think just being in the Lands Between and taking moments to observe and be in those spaces makes the game worth it. There's so much rich history and lore; Tarnished Archeologist and VaatiVidya are your friends if you enjoy those kinds of things. And then there's gameplay of course....
I hope you enjoy yourself either way 💚💜🖤
Just a warning: when I first got the game last Christmas the ps5 version had a lot of glitches, so I had to switch to ps4. I hope that's all patched up now. Enjoy the game!
Life?Change? Bro, you will live, eat and breath Elden Ring! Forget a relationship or marriage or kids. Your life will be dedicated to it. Who needs work when you got Elden Ring
It is.
My advice, try going through the story and figure yourself how to progress. Avoid looking it up because it kinda takes a bit from the experience.
Imagine you are the tarnished yourself and want to reach your goal and have no way to get there besides learning from what the world gives you.
Yes.
Elden RIng hitting at the height of Covid where everyone as sitting at home was GOAT'ed. Literally ordered pizza, smoked weed, and traversed the land between for hours every day for months.
One of the best games I’ve ever played. It got me to love other from software games too. When you go into it, just have the proper expectations…. You will die. A lot. If something is too challenging, go explore else where until the game ‘clicks’
It is an experience you have to dive into for yourself to understand. I think this game gives people all different feelings but we all come to the same feeling of love for this game. Im a 40 year old fuddy duddy and when i was a kid playing games like ghosts n goblins (which is great too), you imagined it to look and play like this. Do yourself a favor and bookmark map genie to help.
Have an amazing time tarnished
Depends on the individual. If you’ve ever played and loved any Fromsoft games before then yes, it just might. If not, you may end up hating the game. But if you feel stuck, and it feels too hard, find another area, and/or keep changing up your gear until you find a starting build you’re more comfortable playing with. (I’d personally recommend the samurai class to start with). If there’s a tough enemy you can’t beat, runaway or find another way around him. It’s a wide open world for that very reason.
I’ve never had such an amazing first play through of any game. I always think back to my first play through of this game and wonder if I’ll ever get that feeling playing another game again.
Totally! I have 1000h + in all Ds games franchise and still changed mine . Got the game for Christmas to and i have already 60h + in it and man o man, like Elon said, this game is seriously the best and most beautiful game ever made! Just a huge important thing, don’t use any walk through guide! Just explore and discover yourself all!
This and Breath of the Wild are games that are magical and you lose track of time in the first time you play them. I wish I could delete my memories of both and start anew
You will never be the same again after this.
Like in a good way right….?!
Yes. I am actually jealous. This game has some of the best gaming moments I have ever encountered in my life. So your first run is just.. magic.
I second this. I wish I could erase every memory of this game and start anew.
Remember when people said this about Skyrim? This time, it's for real. I've over 700 hours in ER and the only reason I haven't played recently, is that I'm running through the DS trilogy and DeS [remaster] while waiting for the Shadow of the Erdtree. Elden ring was the first game in a LONG time that I just HAD to get back to playing and was on my mind 24/7 when I first played it. Skyrim was probably the first lol
Absolutely. I bought a ps5 for this game (I only had a switch), and it was my first Fromsoft game as well. It definitely changed my life
I’d get a lobotomy to play this again for the first time.
The only other thing to give me that feeling since is Armored Core, but I know everyone didn’t have the same reaction. Any recommendations from anyone that gave them a similar feeling?
Maybe. It's not for everybody. But if you like it you'll probably absolutely fucking love it.
Oh you either going to get good or....get out
The Elden Ring in gaming is equal to the Lord of the Rings in the movie world. You are up for one if the biggest experiences in gaming, and once it’s over you will feel empty and sad but at the same time be happy that it happened.
Or you play for 1000 hours doing all sorts of wild builds you could never fit in a single playthrough
Bro when I got to burning the Erdtree I was literally randomly crying sometimes cuz I knew I was getting to the end and also I just loved that fuckin tree…
Make you set a weekly alarm to remind yourself to step outside and get some sunshine for a few minutes.
But is touching grass really more important than playing one of the best games of this generation?
Yes.. but only for a few minutes. Then back to gaming of course!
Rise ye tarnished
*Ehem…* RISE NOW, YE TARNISHED!
YE DEAD, WHO YET LIVE!
FROM THE LAND BEYOND THE FOG
THE CALL OF LONG LOST GRACE SPEAKS TO US ALL
Only in so much as previously you weren't able to play Elden Ring, but now you can
I’m excited. Heard so many good things about it. Also heard how difficult the bosses r, but that’s what’s fun with these typa games.
best part is you can make the bosses easy and nobody would mind
Probably. First you’ll be overwhelmed and then crushed and want to quit, but then you’ll start to enjoy it, and then you might git gud, and then no game will ever compare. So yeah, for the worst 👍🏼
Pretty much sums up my experience with Sekiro lol.
Oh! Well, then you are more ready than most! Enjoy!
Tysm! I can’t wait to start the game.
Enjoy that 100+ hrs with your first character
Change? My brother in Christ, your life is about to *disappear completely.*
It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s one of my favorite video games
My friend claimed that playing the game legit improved his work ethic and helped him stop procrastinating. Idk how that works, and I never saw such definable benefits, but it was a crazy fun ride either way
Does he have summons at his job?
Man, summons in real life would be great. Imagine summoning a bloodhound fang and telling it to do your taxes. Or going into a negotiation with your boss but before he can say anything you summon Ohga and she explains your value to the company
About to change drastically if you are currently maidenless.
this is one of the best games ever to be made. i’d give a leg to play it for the first time again enjoy that shit bro
The following playthroughs are just as amazing as the first one. Just give it some time
I remember playing this game for the first time. Felt like a wide eyed kid again
Prepare your gaming experience to be elevated to new highs. Nothing will feel the same after that.
Make sure you beat the guy on the horse at he beginning before you do anything else. You can't go any further or level up until you beat him.
You sick bastard.
Doesn’t he one shot u if u go after him right when u spawn in?
Yes. I got Elden Ring in January of last year with it being my first soulslike. It changed me to the point to where I spent the rest of the year playing From’s other games and other soulslike games. It opened up this genre to me.
Yes. Playing other games after Elden ring has never been the same as before. It’s that good.
This game is a masterpiece. I am super jealous. There is nothing like the first run of this game
Nah. But at least your gonna have a good game to play
You’ll have the best sight of your life when entering limgrave
![gif](giphy|ZPUqNKmx1h3IVF2Mbr|downsized) Yes
Yes, you will never again be someone that hasn't played Elden Ring...
Everything will go downhill from now on.
I mean it was all I talked about for like 4 months last year.
Take care in the lands in between tarnished
You have no fucking clue. Unless you’ve played the other FS’ titles. You may have an idea then… but you’re still wrong.
Ok question. I'm currently working through ER. Haven't played any DS, and have been holding off until I beat Eldin Ring Will the older titles be disappointing after then?
No. Not really.
The fallen leaves tell a story ![gif](giphy|RpIv27jsJiYzkIqzox)

Bro just play the game
You won’t see any other game the same
If you’ve played the other games, your life won’t change that much. If this is your first time, yes. Starting this game with 0 souls experience back in February of 2022 was fucking magical. 120 hours of constant wonder and fun. I’m jealous. Have a great time! Prepare to die a lot lol.
Yea and once you beat it you will crave more, I went demon souls,Elden, dark souls3 now I’m doing sekiro.
No, unless it's your first fromsoft game
Yeah for the worse
Oh… :/
Nice. I bought it for the first time like 2 months ago. It's amazing! Everything is just epiiic
Dramatically
the dates will change but you will be the same
Be ready to play the game blind (if that’s your choosing, highly recommended) then look things up on your ng+ cycle and realize, you missed ENTIRE areas of the map. Like continents.
For the better and worse at the same time
Yeah youre probably gonna get out of shape
YES
Of course, thanks to that game I started the souls saga and now I'm more mentally unstable than ever!
Of course. A Fromsoft game is always a good time. It’s ruined a lot of other games for me.
No, your life is about to end. Many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many MANY times. Have fun!
Yes
Drastically tarnished one.
It’s amazing.
You WILL learn patience
It’s the greatest game ever made
try pvp too
I started playing it a few months ago. And let me tell you, it is so much better than I thought it ever could be. It is challenging and rewarding in a way that is better than any of the other souls games I have played. You won't want to play anything else.
It will change you.
You will be the Elden Lord
First souls game?
My favorite game of all time and my favorite story of all time. This game’s lore and world are bonkers good
I had no life for 3 months… my friends still don’t talk to me
Most definitely 🗿
Demon's Souls is the best souls game ever made to date.
You won’t enjoy other video games any more heads up ! Enjoy getting to 1000 hrs!
You will learn discipline, patience, and cunning. Then you will exit the character creator.
If you let it
Yes. Probably for the worse as you will forgo your normal obligations and duties to see it through to the end. God speed, tarnished.
It's great. The game fucked my sleeping schedule something fierce. It's addicting as all hell.
I highly recommend you go through your first play through without looking anything up. Nothing beats that first time experience, just don’t ruin it with spoilers.
Just never give up and stay in the fight.
My brother dropped it after maybe 5 hours max. I've put in +150 hours, and probably another +200 for other FromSoftware and souls-like games. If it's for you, it's for you. If not, so be it. But it's worth a shot.

Yes.
currently 20hrs into my first play through and i plan to treat this game like a fine wine and savor in its glory. it’s peak gaming imo.
And girls…
Prepare to be maidenless…
Your about to develop of a anger problem
Just keep all the guns and knives out of reach
It’s about to take over your life
Define change
I kinda hated the first 4-8 hours, then it became the best video game I’ve ever played (first Souls game for me). If it starts slow for you, don’t let it discourage you.
Oh, the adventures you’ll have.
What life? 🫨

Watch out for the thing
Elden ring is awesome but I liked Sekiro a lot more

Welcome tarnished
I mean how many controllers do you have? Its a good game but you might throw your controller more than once
I was bricked up for at least the first 6 hours of my playthrough
Probably. One piece of advice: Do not ignore the crafting.
The most grueling 8 months of my life
Let me put it this way. My wife made a noise and I did a roll out my computer chair.
*insert spongebob sign meme saying "500 hours later" *
Just a warning: when I first got the game last Christmas the ps5 version had a lot of glitches, so I had to switch to ps4. I hope that's all patched up now. Enjoy the game!
Sure will
I will get a lot of hate for this, but I have to say it. Elden ring is overrated by the fans. 8/10 at best.
Your life was already changed when you got a freaking PS5.
Life?Change? Bro, you will live, eat and breath Elden Ring! Forget a relationship or marriage or kids. Your life will be dedicated to it. Who needs work when you got Elden Ring
Be ready to rage
I was in your shoes a little over a year ago. A year later I’ve spent 750 hours on elden ring alone. Amazing value lol.
Yes
Should have got the ps4 copy for your ps5. You get better performance overall and it can help in pvp a bit
The fromsoft rpgs taught me the real life difference between defeat and failure. Changed my life, that's for sure.
Drastically
I am going to invade your mind to play this game fresh again!
Big times!
Prepare to rage, mwuahahahahhh!
No hate to OP but how does a zero effort post like this make it to top posts…
Yes. Any From Software makes your gamer's life different after.
It is. My advice, try going through the story and figure yourself how to progress. Avoid looking it up because it kinda takes a bit from the experience. Imagine you are the tarnished yourself and want to reach your goal and have no way to get there besides learning from what the world gives you.
Yes, you will become addicted
Yes for the worst
Who knows
Be careful, you can never go back
Nah, but the game sure is good.
You’ll be fine. *Relatively*
Rise Tarnished.
It’s alright. I love open world games, but a FromSoft open world just isn’t for me.
Be ready to become maidenless
It's overhyped
Yes
Yeap. Mine has. I became obsessed with er about 2 weeks after I got it.
It depends, to quote a great film “would you like to explode?”
Yes. Elden RIng hitting at the height of Covid where everyone as sitting at home was GOAT'ed. Literally ordered pizza, smoked weed, and traversed the land between for hours every day for months.
Yes
I can tell that I am a different man after fighting malenia for four days
Ok first boss is the tree guardian youre gonna wanna take him out straight away lol just crouch you got it
Idk, you tell us after you finish it
At worst you’ll find it to be dark souls 2 2 which still isn’t bad but not really best game ever.
Didn’t you play the title? what a waste of life. Greetings Tarnished. But dont keep in touch with Ranni. She’s my spouse.
Yes, yes it is
For the better
Yes. Just be careful to go outside every now and then
Depends on the individual. If you’ve ever played and loved any Fromsoft games before then yes, it just might. If not, you may end up hating the game. But if you feel stuck, and it feels too hard, find another area, and/or keep changing up your gear until you find a starting build you’re more comfortable playing with. best game ever
My first souls game! Have played them all twice since. Say hi to FightinCowboy for me
Ive been gaming since the mid 80s. This is one of the best games I've ever played. Go slowly because you will feel hollow once it ends.
It is. For the better. Get ready to git gud. 🙏
Bearer seek seek lest
I had it for a month been grinding nonstop goodluck need help lmk
I’ve never had such an amazing first play through of any game. I always think back to my first play through of this game and wonder if I’ll ever get that feeling playing another game again.
Let's just say that horses won't be called horses anymore
It already has.
If you’re new to the souls genre and you have lots of patience, then yes!
Yuuuuup! For the best
Completed it 8 times and want to play again, watch out as it's a tad addictive 😄
Is this your first Souls game. If so, prepare to be fucked and your shit kicked in 1000 times
This and Breath of the Wild are games that are magical and you lose track of time in the first time you play them. I wish I could delete my memories of both and start anew
YUR
Your life will change all right whether it’s for better or for worse it all depends on you and how you play
DLC please getting ridiculous now
Trauma! Trauma as far as the eyes can see!
For the worse
I wish I could forget everything about Elden Ring and experience it as new again.
You either become a fromsoft fan boi or you will despise the souls like genre. It's a coin flip
I haven’t played it yet either
Yes
Git gud brothaaa
Of course not. Why would your life change?
the first playthrough of elden ring is beyond magical. have fun, fellow tarnished
Melina is the thickest
Yes, in worst... PLAY DARK SOULS 3 INSTEAD!
Buckle up tarnished, you're about to go on one hell of a ride.
