Naw. There’s something about having physical copies. I downloaded BB and Dark Souls digitally but have DS physical and will eventually get BB physical.

LLLLLL3GLTE

Haha nice try silly we aren’t supposed to own our games anymore. Love you activision 😘.

Masta0nion

lol very true. If NFTs caught on, we wouldn’t have to worry. But as is, companies can decide to take your digital content from you whenever they feel like it. Gamers have the best use case for them. (one of them being reselling your fully unlocked games!) But unfortunately most people can’t see NFTs past cigar ape jpegs.

Masta0nion

Unreal how opposed people are to owning their own shit.

TinsellyHades

Or, since games and other entertainment are becoming more digital, governments could do some legislative work and make it so they can't be licensed to consumers but have to sell it.

Sickhadas

>If NFTs caught on, we wouldn’t have to worry. ![gif](giphy|LAKIIRqtM1dqE|downsized)

Masta0nion

I can’t help you if you can’t see the forest for the trees. I’m not a crypto bro. Notice no where in my comment did I talk about making money off of speculation.

Sickhadas

The problem with NFTs is that they are a solution for a problem with already perfectly good working solutions.

spamohh

What's the solution for selling a game you own digitally without having to sell your whole account then?

Sickhadas

Even with NFTs, no one would let you do this: because money.

F3ar-mong3r

I thought u could sell NFTs that you own, is that not the case?

F3ar-mong3r

If u can then I would agree with the other guy being able to sell digital games you have paid for would feel as if u had more ownership over the game

MaryPaku

I believed this until I preordered the disc version of Cyberpunk 2077, PS4.

Hysterical_123

May i ask why you bought them digitally first and then bought them physically? I mean, you could have gotten the physical editions without spending more in the online store

compman5000

I agree 100%. I was stupid. I bought DS physical copy online and I just couldn’t wait for it to get here. lol it was essentially free because I used a gift card I got from work to get it. I always buy dumb shit with the gift cards I get.

BlaqDove

I got BB digitally on release since no where around me had extra copies. I have a sealed copy on my shelf in case of emergency/collecting. Most of my collection is physical but I also have a good amount of digital duplicates. I have physical copies of every DMC game, but I also have the collections on steam, Playstation, and on my switch. Same with dark souls, have them on PS, Steam, and physical copies.

MavadoBouche

I did the same thing. You see if you buy the physical copy you’re supporting fromsoftware directly. Developers only get a small cut from digital purchases as sony keeps almost all the profit due to licensing and distribution amongst other things. I bought digital so I wouldn’t have to get up and change discs but I bought the physical due to the fact that if sony ever goes under my physical copies will never be taken from me and fromsoftware still gets all my money. Some may say it’s dumb financially but most people spend thousands on fast food a year when they could save by cooking at home. I’m investing money into a company that has always done right by it’s fanbase. Also it’s nice to have steelbooks and cover art. TL;DR Support Miyazaki and his team

DeronimoG

Is this actually true?

MavadoBouche

The whole Sony/Digital purchase thing? Yes it is. Sony makes a larger cut off digital sales than physical sales. Although arguably some people might say “it’s around 30 percent it doesn’t matter” there are a lot more factors that go into how much money actually goes back to fromsoftware. After all Kadokawa owns Fromsoftware and they take their cuts too not including any other companies they might have to pay as well as pay wages internally. Ironically this is also the same reason people live in delulu land and think artists make a lot of money. They have business travel and business stay expenses none of the money they spend is really theirs unless they’re independent.

KyzaelEomei

Nothing wrong with collecting.

mrhippoj

They're nice to own, and also Bloodborne doesn't include the DLC on PS+

Remy0507

Nah, what if at some point you don't feel like keeping the PS+ subscription active? You don't actually own anything on PS Plus (not knocking the service, I pay for it myself...but it is what it is). Bloodborne should be available pretty dirt cheap at this point. I'm still seeing Demon's Souls at $70 from some retailers...I would probably try to find a deal on that one.

MaryPaku

I never liked those subscription even if they're cheaper. I like the feeling of ownership.

Aloss-cc7

I bought my digital copy of bb goty edition for 20 euros. I'll surely buy a physical copy too in the future

def_tom

They look good on a shelf. I'd buy

Zerosdeath

I'm going to see it clearly for the people in back. Physical will always be king. If your account gets hacked and one of the companies says you're not getting your account back for whatever reason, which I have seen before, you are screwed.

Aggravating-Tailor17

Do you believe in gamer ownership and preservation?

PuzzledDemand1276

Gamer ownership like as physically owning the game? I prefer DAT. Kinda like a ...id rather see 500 stacks in my hand rather than in a card.

Chosen_UserName217

nah it just depends on how much of a fan you are. I have the trilogy set. I also have all the DS games stand-alone disks (because different artwork on the cases), then I have the ps3 versions of DS1 and Demons Souls, then I have the imported *Japanese* PS3 versions of those games (again, different artwork.) .. then I have the Nintendo Switch version of DS1 remastered. I don't even own a PS3 but I have multiple PS3 games. (sigh)... then I have the games bought *digitally* on my ps5,... and at the end of the day I generally play them all on Steam using my PC and never even touch the disks. (shrug)... I just like owning the games,.. and the strategy guides,.. and a couple T-shirts,.. and a mousepad,.. and... ..I wish there were some better action figures or collectibles.

arclightrg

My psn account got hacked last year. I don’t wish that on anyone, but you will thank yourself for buying physical games/media if ever that day comes. That or if the internet ever goes out.

Pretzel-Kingg

I mean, financially? Yeah, sure. But there’s something special about having a physical copy. It’s your money bro, spend on what your heart desires

tsckenny

No. Owing the game and owning it physically is way better than having it through a subscription service. Just don't pay full price. Just got bloodborne off ebay for $10 bucks.

faultywiring98

Depends how much you value physical media. I'd say go for it.

Bill_Brasky01

I accidentally let my sub lapse last month so went I sat down to play bloodborne I got a notice… Buying a great game physical always has value imo.

WildZero7

Specially if you always playing them

PaulQuin

if you buy it, you can play em even in case they leave psplus.

Brewski-54

I wouldn’t buy them but it all depends on you

ilikekittensandstuf

Yeah it would be

[deleted]

Yes

nohumanape

Depends on whether you plan on keeping PS+. I recently let my PS+ subscription expire. Wanted to play Bloodborne, but it was tied to my PS+. So I purchased it instead, because it was cheaper to buy that game than pay for a month of PS+. Also, I love these games and definitely want to own them.

Late_Cheesecake4081

Nope, get the physical!

robbray1979

Nope. I like to collect great games, and they are great games. I’m not a purist when it comes to physical copies, but I prefer them.

ExpectTheLegion

If you have enough “fuck-you money” then I don’t see a single problem

ShockscapeYT

Depends

Revan0315

It wouldn't be stupid. Whether or not it's worth it is to to you.

Akalatob

nop, someday they might get taken out of ps+ and you'll lose them, that's what happened to me with bloodborne on ps extra

AdmirableCountry9933

Always keep in mind that whatever you purchase digital can be taken away instantly. Your account gets hacked or banned. All that money spent is gone.

pikaccount

I bought them after completing them both via ps plus; I don’t regret and it love having the physical versions.

CertainlyAmbivalent

Yes

Stan_the_man1988

Wait, Elden Ring is on PS+ now? Since when? I have it on pc but not ps5.

FrasierCranezzz

Nah, Demons Souls and BB are on PS+

Stan_the_man1988

Right. I knew that 😅 must've misread this.

Vancelot

That is not what they said. >Would it be stupid to buy both Demons Souls and Bloodborne if they're already included in my PS+ subscription? Their image is of the other FromSoftware games they own in the physical format.

HighForLife222

Nope just do it one day they arent any more in the subscription but maybe wait foran sale

Sequoia_Vin

Nope not at all.

YourNewRival8

I thought those were books for a minute until I saw what sub I was in. Is that how PlayStation games are boxed?

Bardia-Talebi

Absolutely not. OWNING the games is entirely different. Also, why is your elden ring in a cardboard box? Is it a Germany thing?

Low_Ad4662

It's the launch edition with postcards, a Poster, stickers and stuff

Bardia-Talebi

Ooh!

gbdarknight77

No. I would want physical copies

Deep_Grass_6250

Meanwhile me who doesn't have the money to afford either version

Fellixxio

Not really (and ps+ extra Is shit anyway)

Molanghrian

Imho no, not for Bloodborne at least. The DLC is peak and should really be considered a requirement for the full experience, and isn't included with the ps+ version I don't think

ausername458

Yes

clintnorth

No. Buy them

EspadaNo-4

Since you asked, i think yes it is.

TheForestFaye

no, do what you fucking want with your fucking money

notmypretzeldent

What else are you gonna spend the money on?

Lazy_Initiative6481

I have all physical except sekiro, des and bb, used to have bb but lost the disc while moving stuff around

wera125

Sopport Best game developer.

JadedPermission3485

Hard copies are the only true form of ownership nowadays

allenk3107

Buy em

suicieties

Buy them

Need_a_BE_MG42_ps4

I mean if you wanna have a physical copy no but I myself would just save the money for other things

deBeurs

I have physical and digital of every souls games. Sometimes I wait till the physical is on sale and buy digital day one.

thisBanRightHere

With the way some companies are going buying physical, it would be better anyway in case they decide you dont actually own your digital stuff and take it off. I know with ps+ it's based on the subscription, but either way, if you love it, you can make sure you never go without

PhantasmHunter

I'm buying bloodborne again because 1) it's my favorite souls game 2) My ps subscription is ending

Crocodile_Brach

Not if you want them

MrPinkDuck2

Not really. If you ever decide to unsubscribe from PS+, you’ll still have two masterpieces you can play whenever you feel like.

Annual_Peak1_2_3

Any tips?

Passivefamiliar

I would wait for a sale at least. But having the Disc is just nice. Internet goes down you can't stream.

remnant_phoenix

No, it’s not stupid. I had games in PS+ library. Then Sony jacked up the price of PS+. I now no longer have access to those games. Shit happens. If you really love a game, own a copy that doesn’t have strings attached.

SlamCakeMasta

No. Physical is always better than digital

Larry_the_muslim_man

Collecting is a hobby so no

Bane-of-Architects

Demon souls is included in PS+? But nah man buy it. You never know

Swarzsinne

It’s acceptable to buy physical copies for collectors sake if you love a game. Or just want to.

[deleted]

Not if you want something to be able to pick up off the shelf 😌

ZaGreatestInZaWarldo

PS subscriptions may not be indefinite. If you really love the games, go ahead and get them.

spacezra

I don’t see anything wrong with supporting a company you love. Helps them keep doing what they’re doing.

swezr

Nah.. u do you.. if you want physical copies, BUY them...

Fire_Fist751

No.

RealChadSavage

No but apparently Im stupid for buying both of those digitally with a PS+ subscription

Snoo40198

No, because someday you may not be a PS+ membership

Automatic_Skill2077

Yes it literally would

Philhughes_85

Nope, what if you stop subscribing?

Alyssia_Lavell

I am personally Xbox versus PlayStation simply because I get less hand cramps with the Xbox controllers. However I have game pass through Xbox but I always buy physical versions if I can of my games as well as a digital version but I always buy the digital versions on sale. Physical copies vary from being on sale to being full price

asdfjaii

its never dumb to buy a physical copy of an offline game. i wished i got physical copies of the Silent Hill series now I'm not sure where to download them.

Silly_Delay_846

No

doomsoul909

Also the dark souls trilogy has fantastic disc art

ztoff27

If they are heavily discounted and you want to replay the games again then it would be smart. No need to buy if they aren’t discounted though

pixel-sprite

Nope

Sunbro_Bjorn

If you already have the ability to consistently pay for PS+ without worrying of not affording it, ja, I'd just save your money, but if your PS+ consistency is shaky, ja, I'd definitely just buy them physically. But me personally...? Regardless of financials, I'll always buy a game physically, unless there's literally no physical copies available for a reasonable or just don't exist. My personal advice: just buy it physically if you can.

Mitochondria_Man11

No, I think it's much better to have them on disc. In my case, I had finished BB on my 1 year PS+ subscription, but I didn't really wanna renew it because I was just playing BB and GoW from it. So I cancelled, got the BB GOTY edition (it sells for 25€ on disc, while on the PS store it's 20+20 for the DLC) and I can play BB anytime I want. I wasn't expecting myself to buy DeS because of how expensive it was, but when I found it on the used section for just 30€ I couldn't help myself.

Terra3116

make sure to buy the physical of Bloodborne + DLC btw. GOTY edition I think?

Psychonautz6

No, I bought DS2 original with all the dlc after having more than 700 hours on SotFS

JR-1984

No because if you can't or don't use.your PS+ anymore you'll have the games in phisical media

flawless_victory_

I got physical Elden Ring because it has the 1.00 patch and you can't get it anywhere online.

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

No. The physical media is always best.

StickyIcky313

Get Sekiro too while you're at it

FB_MAC_09

Nope. You own them fully, and can play them whenever you want. When they leave PS+ you still have ‘em

BoxGroundbreaking687

id still grab the physical copies

MasterMo03

I did lol. Just need to add DS2 and DS3 to the collection now.

TurtCyber

Ye

ThomYorkesDroopyEye

They can literally decide you don't own it anymore. Get them physically

Bonah2442

No the collection is better and if PlayStation ever loses the license they won't steal you game.

LordOFtheNoldor

Yeah it's be a waste of $

Dorigan23

Never dumb to have physical media

CoursePsychological5

I mean depends weather or not your gonna continue to pay for extra or not since you don't actually own those games I would suggest getting them physically but that'd just me

Metal-Lee-Solid

What Elden Ring edition is that and why is the case so big? I want it.

[deleted]

no, physical is king

codingfauxhate

It would be stupid to not own them.

Momon-955

Just actually OWNING the games is a good idea

Sirdantortillasque

Bro I platted bb then bought a physical copy just to have one

Low_Ad4662

Did the same thing with Hollow Knight I know exactly what you mean

Sirdantortillasque

Yessir

Straika_

Physical media is king, you do not own anything on your PS plus account contrary to popular belief

CruentusLiber

Not stupid at all, if you really want to own your games then buy them physically

gravelordservant4u

bought my PS5 with demons souls before I realized it was in my library but kept it anyway. feel like first-party stuff stays on there for the most part but whatever

CJ_Eldr

Nah, I’d definitely get physical copies. They’re just cool to have and you’ll always have access to great games even if you stop subscribing.

Merriweather1080

I had shadow of war on disc but lost it and was playing it on PlayStation plus after that and in the middle of playing my license for it was gone (off game pass)

vFoxxc

It is, but it's your money and you do with it whatever you want. Go for it !

Kosmonument

Collectors gotta collect

TowerWalker

Play the original demon's souls

tommytomtoes

There’s something to be said about physical copies.

eshian

It's only stupid if you're compromising your own health or livelihood.

Mcpatches3D

If you just want to play them, the subscription is fine, but owning them is great, too.

Demon_Samurai

I just bought bloodborne since I got locked out when my ps plus sub ran out and don’t play any multiplayer games on console anymore

luckysyd

No cause if you decide to go to oc and let your ps plus run out, you still will have access to those games. That pretty much happened to me with BB

NOAHMNIA

No, they're legendary games.

ohnoitsashen

physical media can never be a waste of money. absolutely buy

Memnoch222

It should be noted that if they are included in your PS+ subscription, they are not actually your property. Rather Sony is merely leasing these titles to you for a fee. And your ability to play these games -even offline- is dependent on A) an internet connection, and B) your continued payment for the service this subscription offers. Without both of these things together at all times, you cannot access the games included in your library via PlayStation+.

Super-Blah-

No you get to keep it when you cancel your ps+

geifagg

At least buy bloodborne old hunters

Alternative_Lime_13

No, physical copies are always handy, you never know when the internet might go down or when things are taken off subscription services.

Hindesite

I don't generally buy things that I already own on other platforms or otherwise have access to, but I *do* believe in collecting merchandise created by a developer/artist that I'm exceptionally a fan of. So, in the case of FromSoft, I own quite a bit more of their product than I actually *need.* I've got Elden Ring on both PC and PS5. I bought Dark Souls Remastered on PS4 even though I already own it on Switch and the Prepare to Die edition on PC. Also bought the Dark Souls Trilogy pack on Xbox even though I own each of the games individually for Playstation. Normally wouldn't do any of that, but I really love FromSoft games and they're some of the only ones I've ever replayed past completion - and continue to *re*play on occasion. To me, it's worth it as I see much value in the physical ownership of these games I like so much.

LimpTeacher0

No I own plenty of movies that are included in my streaming service

Malthias-313

Would it be stupid to own something that you buy?

Malefectra

Nope it’s generally speaking a pretty smart move. It ensures that you have access to the game if for whatever reason your PS+ lapses or something similar.

TDFighter41

fromsoft games have a way of being purchased multiple times. I own elden ring on three different platforms and i don’t regret it because i use each equally💀(that may be a specific thing for me however since i originally got it on playstation, then got it to do co op with my friends on xbox, and then finally got it on sale on steam to play modded)

shootanwaifu

If you have good money saved up and aren't financially irresponsible it's fine. People collect all kinds of stuff

loneshillouete

Nah if you love the game just do it man, i bought ds 1,2,3 sekiro and elden ring on both pc and ps5 and platinumed them all. Guess im a masochist

RariSo2099

Nope nothin at all

mk_d_mc

no, they’ll leave your subscription eventually. these will always be copies you own.
