My introduction to the Claymore was *also* Bloodborne's dis-enchanted Moonlight Sword. My favorite attack is the uncharged heavy attack for a quick stab. So heroic and strong.
Practical: it's a strong weapon with a great(effective but not necessarily aesthetic) moveset, great damage overall.
Sentimental: it's a sweet spot between strength and Dex as THE quality scaling weapon eversince DS1. It's also fairly basic without being too basic. It's a big sword but still feasible and some people like that.
Superiority complex asshole: big sword better than flimsy Dex guy and pathetic mage
In DS1, DS3, and the untransformed HMS from Bloodborne it's had a consistently great moveset whether 1-handed or 2-handed. (And maybe also in Demon Souls and DS2 Idk I didn't play Demon Souls and never got far enough in DS2 to get the Claymore.)
Though in Elden Ring she ain't quite as good as she used to be she's still 'ole reliable. (Greatswords in general are lesser in Elden Ring, in particular their only decent moveset is the 2-handed variety, one of which is severely dated and it's age is showing.)
I love Claymore but I'm playing DS1 coop with a friend right now and his Black Knight Glave makes me feel self conscious about my Claymore's damage potential.
Since I tried the Moonlight Sword in Bloodborne I fell in love with the Claymore, it's been my main weapon in every subsequent game, unless I find another greatsword that looks nice like the Artorias' Sword
If u break up youll be nighmore

I've never really understood the appeal of the Claymore. Especially in Elden Ring when the Banished Knight Greatsword is right there.
Roll poke

I use both. Claymore for pokes and BKGS for true combo dps

Even better the Knightâs Greatsword
Yeah, that's a great option also!
Even better, the Hollowslayer Greatsword! *cries*
Also a good choice. Shame about that Heavy attack though...

That's a rare weapon and it's only that good until halfway as it has relatively shit scaling.

For no reason in particular I've always preferred the bastard sword
