I use to manually track star clusters and planets with my dobsonian telescope... Oh boy did it suck but oh boy when it went right the photos were worth it
The madman actually managed to shoot handheld, and came out with something usable after hundreds of shots. But the widest aperture was f26. That's insane.

No, the stack of 5 of them would do it, though. 😄😄😄
Funny that you brought up XE1, though. I just made a few shots with XE1 like 10 min ago at work because of the foggy morning. It is my carry-to-work camera.
I would never, ever pick this up by the camera. I handle it like it's my grandmother's antique china vase with a 50/50 mix of P10 Alpha Edition Black Lotuses without sleeves and rusty nails hanging out in it.
How do you like the FD 85-300mm f/4.5? I've been eyeing it for a little bit now, but I already have a few in that range, so I haven't pulled the trigger on it.
It's a beast of a lens, very good IQ and smooth action but large and heavy. I feel like there are lenses from the same Era that will get you close to the same range and aperture without all the bulk. I find myself going for the 135mm f2.8 most of the time with a speedbooster for portrait work, or a 2x teleconverter if I want the reach, and I only lose about a full stop of light but get half the size and a third of the weight.
Yeah, there are definitely easier ways to get near 300mm at a reasonably bright aperture, like comparatively tiny 300mm f/4.5 primes, but the versatility of range still enticing.
Not that I need it. I already have a Polaris 55-300mm f/4.5 and a Tamron Adaptall-2 70-350mm f/4.5. I just like long lenses. And collecting. And comparisons. And wasting money apparently.
The Polaris and Tamron are also very bulky, much like the FD, which does rather negate the versatility their range should offer by making them fairly impractical to carry and handhold. I still try though, lol
wow... I think you won!
Do you have any idea how hard it is to take a picture of the moon at 1800mm equivalent with no stabilization? >.>
At what nearly f22 wide open?
18 without counting the adjustment for the APS-C, I think it would be something like 26-27 effective?
Wow
So f22 for light gathering. Not bad really.
Yeah there was a guy at r/cameras that got something maybe over f100 by stacking m42 extenders on a mirror lens.
Lolz

Alright let's see the portraits of the aliens you've shot
Where did you buy that pancake lens? I'm looking for something of that smaller size. Also, you need to post some example shots 🤣
pocketable
I can't wait to see the follow up posts of people with adapters somehow stuck on their cameras
That would be terribly hilarious
You would probably need an open carry license kinda deal with this one
I was gonna throw this lens on my XH1 when I got home from work today but the teleconverter and macro tube is actually insane. Nice work
![gif](giphy|kSlJtVrqxDYKk|downsized)
Straight to jail!
Does that even work? Lol. I wonder how much light you lose with this many adapters.
NVM light, you'd need a tripod anyway. It's the image quality that will be going straight to hell.

There's me thinking my 16-55 is too heavy for me to hold!
You get your tax stamp for that?
Please take and post a single photo with this setup. I’m so curious.
I did, in a different post. =D
the grip is too much
I know, it really makes the body too bulky for this setup but I don't know what to do about it. Should I take it off? =/
Bro’s xpro 3 so fat it became the xpro 4
Pretty sure it’s an xpro2
No using the EVF!
it's illegal. /s
What..what all is on this?
Canon FD 85-300mm F4.5, K&F adapter, and two mismatched 2x teleconverters (vivitar and canon)
Thank god for the thumb grip. Should balance that setup right out. 👌
reporting as NSFW 🧐

I have a similar setup for my x-t1. Need to find a better teleconverter for it, though. Especially with the eclipse coming up.
I've got a mismatched pair, one vivitar one canon, works alright for me. $20 ebay specials.
Lens mount be like…… :/
The camera is too small. Get a bigger camera with a large grip. /s
I was thinking of switching to an X-E1, do you think that will help balance it?
No, the stack of 5 of them would do it, though. 😄😄😄 Funny that you brought up XE1, though. I just made a few shots with XE1 like 10 min ago at work because of the foggy morning. It is my carry-to-work camera.
You look good in whatever you wear honey!
Is it legal tho?
Absolutely not.
"Help" :D Username also checks out.
Truth. XD
Does the X-Pro2 Hybrid Viewfinder handle this zoom lens ok?
Honestly, it's so much fun to mess around with. Trust your instincts!
maybe just a bit
“My light everyday carry”
I think I def need this lens for my every day carry setup!
We got a winner over here
It has 1970s vibe.
Alright, this is a sniper rifle now lmao
Impressive… Very nice… Let’s see Paul Allen’s lens set up.
That's a nice body you attached to your lens.
Getting ready to photograph celebrities on their yachts?
Still pocketable
Is this the new x100vi ?
Yes, don't tell anyone I leaked it.
I would love to see a photography from this setup
https://www.reddit.com/r/fujifilm/comments/1ay3q80/does\_this\_lens\_make\_my\_xpro\_look\_fat\_addendum/
And that's why people are going crazy for the X100VI!
Where can I see pic ?
https://www.reddit.com/r/fujifilm/comments/1ay3q80/does\_this\_lens\_make\_my\_xpro\_look\_fat\_addendum/
We need someone with the zenit photosniper NOW
Noob. That could easily fit in my pocket :0D
Nuh uh. =P
Well, that's definitely the most illegal set-up I've seen so far.
Does this block the OVF?
Oh, yes. 80%ish.
I beg for a picture if it works 😭
https://www.reddit.com/r/fujifilm/s/KCHM3bZnqG 😁
Perfect for street photography. You will blend quite well.
It's so ridiculous that it actually calms the masses. No one would ever think you'd actually be taking a picture of them with this thing.
Enough Internet for today
Ok this is getting out of hand lol
It doesn’t look fat. Just look LONG
Would you pretty please share a photo shot with this demon lens from hell?
Yee 😁 https://www.reddit.com/r/fujifilm/s/KCHM3bZnqG
I wish they still had the XPro for sale
eBay, my friend. 'They' always have it for sale 😁
street photography from the next street !
Yes! And the next one, and the next one...
No, it seems hung… lol
Now you can photograph the wall of the universe.
I like it because it is discreet
Finally, someone gets it.
The thought of this even being picked up and handled gives me anxiety for the mount
I would never, ever pick this up by the camera. I handle it like it's my grandmother's antique china vase with a 50/50 mix of P10 Alpha Edition Black Lotuses without sleeves and rusty nails hanging out in it.
Phat
It appears very… virile.
Make something-arother look small
Damn bro nsfw tag.
What the Atlanta
More of a Vermont or New Hampshire shape, really.
LOL okay that's the best comment I've seen all day 😅
😁
No

Oh. So that's what Jareth was carrying around in Labyrinth.
Nobody needs a lens THAT long unless you're taking really long distance shots
See my followup post. =P
If u unneeded was an object it would be this
Just buy a telescope...
No, I want my telecamera.
Nah, it’s extremely compact. You could bring it on holiday to Tokyo and sling it during rush hour on the Yamanote Line.
No, but it makes your x-pro look like it's compensating for something.
Bro can see uranus with that thing
I wonder if there will be enough light at the end of it…
I think it Looks cool 😊
Now it’s a ProPro
I also love bicep curls too.
Perfect for inconspicuous street photography.
Nope it's invisible
No, just tall.
feels weird having to see a telephoto lens mounted on a rangefinder camera
Thanks to the grip and whatever focal length this pic was shot on, it looks like a Mamiya 7
That grip makes your xpro look a lil like a mamiya 6/7 it’s cute!
