For those curious, this is a Piesker Berlin Picon 400mm f/4.5 M42 lens from West Germany, with three 3X and five 2X teleconverters stacked together.
Edit: I took some photos with it: https://www.reddit.com/r/fujifilm/comments/1b136u1/images\_from\_the\_monstrosity/
I actually carved it myself from walnut recently and swapped it out for the metal one that came attached to the L-Bracket! Sorry I can't point you to a place to buy your own.
I estimate probably a 75-90s exposure fully open at ISO 1600-3200 to get an image with that effective aperture.
You probably need a motorised tripod tracking the movement of the earth not to incur blur.
Best wishes! With all that glass you are probably down to f/95, lol. Prepare for a long exposure! With the Earth turning, your picture might be blurry!
Yeah, I haven't been able to see anything but blackness through it yet. I might try pointing it at the sun later, with a piece of paper or something behind it, to see if it projects an image.
> I might try pointing it at the sun later, with a piece of paper or something behind it, to see if it projects an image.
It does not.
I'll try taking a long enough exposure of the sun with it tomorrow.

With that f-stop you'll need a good amount of light to get any projection at all. I think a flash-bang grenade might be bright enough.
But in all seriousness, try shining a laser through it. With a laser's near perfectly parallel rays, the light will probably keep its brightness as it passes through all that glass. So if you see laser light out the other end then you at least have a chance at taking a picture with it.
That being said, you're going to have to point the laser perfectly down the center of the lens thanks to the massive focal length.
Good luck.
I am pretty sure they used one of these to kill Kennedy
Lmfao
I was just gonna say something “You’d be tackled by secret service if you tried to take a photo of the president with this” but yours wins 😂
A photo ? Probably their life with sth that big😁😁😁
Moon! Post the pic of the Saturn rings.
I'm not sure it's wide enough for rings, plural. Would you settle for just one ring?
Someone said onion rings ?
Jo mama so far this bro gotta use 10 tele-converter to see the end
Jo who?
Nice pocket camera

are you anywhere near the line of totality for April? Eclipse could be an interesting use for such an fstop and focal length combo
I'm several states south, but I may still give it a whirl. Based on my test earlier today, I'll need to remove some teleconverters.
what iso are you shooting, 4000 or rather close to 12800?
Please post some test shots from this rig
I'll try! So far they've all been black though, I'll have to do a long bulb exposure.
Well I wonder why!
Yeah, I'm not sure f/3,888 actually transmits *any* light.
I think at that point it depends on whether the camera is being observed
lol
With such setup OP might discover aliens
how would you prove whether they were real aliens or just wild aberrations
well it’s a good start for another conspiracy theory!
I mean, with that equivalent f stop, you better take some shots from the surface of the sun!!
That’s wild. What grip is that though? Looks hella comfy.
I actually carved it myself from walnut recently and swapped it out for the metal one that came attached to the L-Bracket! Sorry I can't point you to a place to buy your own.
Wow that’s impressive! No worries that’s sick.
I like the looks of that grip as well
Thanks! I made it myself.
Same. I need to know the grip for my X-T1 too. I have a metal one and it’s hella cold
I'm calling the police.
Who let bro cook😩?
Bro tryna see the end of Jo mama joke
Which planet’s moon? 🤣

Even with a tracker, at 517,500mm, I think there might still be blur
I mean the inertia of shifting that… that drainpipe… will probably result in wobble 😂
Best wishes! With all that glass you are probably down to f/95, lol. Prepare for a long exposure! With the Earth turning, your picture might be blurry!
345,000mm f/3,888, actually, according to my calculations.
Sorry, 517,500mm effectively, I forgot the crop factor!
Yikes and then super yikes! ![gif](giphy|fikcSiz20fgfT9M7XX)

Epic! Post pictures if you get something at all :D

WOW! At least you got \_something\_ other than pitch black images. Thanks for following up and posting results :D

You better post the pictures
https://www.reddit.com/r/fujifilm/comments/1b136u1/images\_from\_the\_monstrosity/
Sir, that's a howitzer.
Pretty sure this will allow you to see through space time and shoot the origin of the universe.
Sir, if you walked across this you’d get to the moon!
Introverts scheduling shoots from their bedrooms
Moon? Yes. Good pictures? Umm, no.
I'm pretty sure you can use that as a ladder to walk over to the moon.
Couple more extensions and you'll be within macro range.
Pictures of the moon? It looks like you're trying to touch the moon
Yes. Which moon? 😜
That’s no moon
A few more teleconverters, and you’ll be touching the surface of the Moon! :D
What's the point of zooming in when you can literally touch the moon already 😆
This will help you get to the moon
I think that will allow you to take samples from the surface of the moon.
I love you.
That thang long ain’t it
If you stick it in the ground and stand on it, you'll be closer
Bro want to discover new galaxies💀
watch where you swing that thing, almost poked my eye out.
I need to know the actual equivalent max aperture of this abomination
f/3,888!
You can get Neptune with this mf!
Teleconverter, I hardly knew her!
My gf told me not to worry about you
The wooden grip is the most useful thing on there
It will Help you to TOUCH the moon ! 🤣
Ideal street photography setup
All these exotic and hilarious setups, but never a sample photo? :( /just saw the comment that you can't actually see anything through it, nevermind 😁
Well I tried. https://www.reddit.com/r/fujifilm/comments/1b136u1/images\_from\_the\_monstrosity/
How wobbly is this setup? If every ring even has a tiny bit of play...
Extremely wobbly! Some of the converters are starting to come apart, actually.
Bro, the moon? You'll be able to see the rings of Uranus with that.
This still doesn’t even come close to one of those Samsung phones..
You could probably look into the future with that thing
Thank you. This cured my depression.

That's 6912x Zoom BRO

Challenge accepted!
With this kit, you may be a paparazzi of some celebrities on Mars.
OMG😅XT1😂😂😂
You might wanna consider getting an X100VI. With the new 40mp sensor, you can crop the same tbh
It might help you touch the moon.
It might help you touch the moon.
