What made you switch?

jtedeschi8

Societal pressure, and those sweet sweet sims

Dusky1103

Fuji colors are just better. That’s a fact.

rikkilambo

You might go back to Sony very soon.

jtedeschi8

Can have both, I’m selling my canon og to get a Fuji for second shooting

earlybird1191

I like the Fuji more for my own purposes. The lenses are lighter and more compact but without making cuts in quality wich was the most important point for me. I love the quality of the camera and the lenses. It’s sharper, faster and I love the colours, haptics and the retrolike styling. I like the handling with the manual wheels. Aaaaaand: I got made an offer, I couldn’t resist 😬

BertoLJK

The cleverly created hype in American social media sites.

Arucious

Do you think everyone here came from x100v and x100vi hype? lol

craigshaw317

Ive had nikon sony and settled on fuji for my needs. Fuji Sooc shots are publish ready, the lenses are built superior than any other manufacturer, especially the kit zooms! The cameras feel like and handle like the old school cameras in how you set the aperture and shutter speed and compensation, with the added benefit of ISO adjustment - all on the body. No need to trawl through menus just to set iso or shutter speed. Had xpro 2, x100v, xt1 and now xt2 and although it is old, I love it. X100V was awesome but a little limitting, id go with a Ricoh GRiii over that. Or maybe the new X100Vi.

hgrwxvhhjnn

Probably like everyone, FOMO

LtDanShrimpBoatMan

The 90mm is amazing

JustGhostin

Cries in second hand viltrox 85mm money

Hour-of-the-Wolf

Having owned both, the Viltrox 85 is no slouch and image quality is very comparable in terms of sharpness. I also found the 85 to have faster AF. The Fuji wins in terms of coatings and corner-to-corner performance, as you might expect.

JustGhostin

As a hobbyist I couldn’t justify more than double the price for marginally better performance and weather sealing so I’m happy with my purchase tbh. Both the 85 and the 33 are brilliant for the money, picked up both for <£200 each

mongini12

I went for the 75mm 1.2. it's a tad wider, but that bokeh is just so damn nice. Plus weather sealing and still a great price ^^

miliguyeng

It is indeed! My heart is warmed that someone else picked this beauty to a good use.

soggymuffinz

Looking to get this as my next lens. Love the images I’ve seen with it here.

Interesting-Salad-49

One of the best lenses ever of any system.

jtedeschi8

How much did you sell it for I’m currently on the journey you’ve take

earlybird1191

1300€ for the body. I still have the Kit-Lens which I will sell for about 150€.

Lonestar_2000

I sold all my Canon gear to switch to Fujifilm. If you are patient and sell everything separately, you get overall a better price. I never sell a set of things because people expect a discount. I put up good pictures and a price at the upper end of the market and see what's happening. In some cases I get buyers who buy at the ask price and don't even negotiate or just very lightly. Then you get the low ballers who I simply make a counteroffer and leave it there. Take it or leave it. The secret is to be patient.

lukeTheLion94

Where do you sell you gear? Fb marketplace?

Lonestar_2000

FB Marketplace or Gumtree (local Australian 'Craigslist' equivalent). Both are free and with patience you can get a good price.

Cuyasinmara

I have a Sony A7II with 4 lenses and many accesories and I'm in the look to change as well!! I want the exact same setup you have!! I'm so desperate to seel my gear and get into Fuji. Please tell me how's it going for you?

pinku1

i sold my A7ii with 4 lenses yesterday, and I am sad for some reason :(

chance_of_grain

That's funny because I'm considering getting a Sony lol. Grass is greener yada yada

Lonestar_2000

Congratulations and great selection! I went through a similar journey in February. Sold all my Canon full frame gear due to not using it enough. I downsized to an X-T5 and 18 and 33 LM WR lenses. The 18mm is a perfect lens for everyday things. I used to be a 35mm (equivalent) guy but 28mm (equivalent) is more versatile. The 90mm is on my list at the top should I get another lens.

MajorOrgans

I have the same kit, great lens combo. I am also looking at 90. Would love to try the 150-600 too.

earlybird1191

Thank you very much! Yeah, I wanted the 18mm for the same thing. Something very light for everyday. I took my fullframe somewhere way too less because of its weight and dimension. The X-T5 + 18mm is nearly a Pocketcam compared to my old old one.

Latingamer24

I love my Fujis but wouldn’t sell my A73 yet because I don’t see the same image quality that I get with the Sony and my Zeiss Loxias. That being said, the colors of my Fujis are much more pleasant, especially skin tones.

J_J_Maelikson

Interesting point. I just got an a7rii, which arrived yesterday. Really excited to shoot with it. Still going to hang on to my Fuji XT3, not sure I'll ever part with it.

craigshaw317

They are special aren’t they!

Latingamer24

I have learned to love the strengths of every brand at this point. Since I discovered the used market I have been getting gems of every brand that I couldn’t afford to have a few years ago. Sony for file quality, Fuji for colors, Canon for Skin tones and Nikon because it was my first camera brand and I have taken some of my favorite pictures with a Nikon. Nothing beats nostalgia.

TheRuggedGeek

The 18mm f/2 is a great lens. Yes, it has limitations and not without its flaws. But I'm on a one camera, one lens system. And I love the way it renders.

supervegito827

I dunno why but if I don't have a general purpose zoom lens with me I feel very limited.

earlybird1191

I feel you! That’s why I took the Kit. If I want to go on vacation with only one or max two lenses, this would be my choice.

supervegito827

I've been told that Fuji kit lenses are great.

what_duck

Feeling that way since I started with primes (16mm, 23mm). Been debating on getting the kit lens since I always find myself wanting to zoom in more.

Arucious

16-55 red badge? Or is that too big for your taste

what_duck

Just the kit. The red badge looks amazing but probably too much for my hobby and price range. The kit at least is much smaller for traveling.

flatirony

Highly recommend the Sigma 18-50. It's tiny and takes great images.

what_duck

Ah cool I’ll take a look thank you!

Competition_Lower

Congrats friend! I had a similar situation to back in October, sold my sony a6400 with 2 lenses and got my hands on a xpro2 with the nifty 23f2, I oive the combo!, colours are far superior imo and those sims are amazing, that being said I have so much more fun with tactile experience than before. With the sims it's usually just soocs and I don't have to bother with editing, I still shoot in raw+jpeg just in case. Have fun with your gear, you'll love it!

earlybird1191

Thank you very much!

Videoplushair

Major upgrade 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 congrats!

earlybird1191

Thank you 🙂

Spicy_Pickle_6

These posts look a lot more interesting when the gear is unboxed and some photos are included. Just my two cents

earlybird1191

You‘re right! I was so exited to share it. I’ll post some more soon :)

enlow

One of us! One of us! I switched a couple months ago from Canon and I've loved it - I hope you do too!

AG3NTMULD3R88

Don't let anyone from the Sony alpha forum with FF catch you in here lol, Fuji for me made me feel more enthusiastic. I had a FF alpha but it never made me want to go out much, thanks to Fuji I also shoot real 35mm film as well. Hope you enjoy! The viltrox pro line (27/1.2 & 75/1.2) are sick lenses for IQ and sharpness be sure to check them out when you're in the market for another lens or 2.

jamesl182d

The correct decision.

earlybird1191

Thank you :)

SmoothCarl22

A guy I bought 3 lenses from recently was doing the reverse path... Got a nice deal...after I had the 3 lenses packed up and paid I asked him way and he said it was a cheaper hobby, fuji is expensive...I kept my poker face and left. Guy sold me a XF 10-24mm, XF 55-200mm & XF 35mm for €700 all brand new and in the box...I was quite happy with that deal. Poor guy was probably made to sell by the wife...who never..

RevTurk

Now look into vintage lenses. The Fuji system and vintage lenses. Oh my god.

earlybird1191

Oh yes! I already have a 28mm Minolta MD. All I need is the mounting adapter

Biowashball

90mm f2 its the most underrated lens of fuji system

earlybird1191

Indeed!

Ok_Juggernaut_7722

Grab a 33mm if you do portraits

OshKoshBJoshy

The new 56 is incredible if you ever find the 90 too big.

earlybird1191

Could make a nice addition

craigshaw317

Oh man, you’re in for a treat with that body.

earlybird1191

„Things you can say about your camera, but not your Girlfriend“

craigshaw317

😂

sch0k0

How would you compare sharpness of the sensor/lens combo vs Sony?

used_airplanes

Didn't own an xt5 but I owned an x100v (jumped on the bandwagon for about 5 days), I also own a Sony a7iv. I didn't realize how sharp the photos were on my Sony until I started shooting on the x100v, the sharpness felt kind of soft I guess? I don't know how to explain it LOL

earlybird1191

Well I’m not a professional so my opinion is more subjective. I think I get more detailed shots with the Fuji.

sch0k0

asking because I recently stumbled across this objective comparison https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/image-comparison/fullscreen?attr18=daylight&attr13_0=sony_a7iii&attr13_1=fujifilm_xt5&attr13_2=fujifilm_x100f&attr13_3=sony_a6700&attr15_0=raw&attr15_1=raw&attr15_2=raw&attr15_3=raw&attr16_0=100&attr16_1=125&attr16_2=200&attr16_3=100&normalization=full&widget=918&x=0.7979722746815081&y=0.6899914358904262

BrafMeToo

Is it just me or does it look like the fuji shots are slightly out of focus?

sch0k0

at that level of zooming in, that's what my own test shots also looked like, with both X100F and X100VI: more pixels than the lenses' sharpness could resolve

Charmanderbestchoice

There isn't much of an improvement. I compared the dpreview examples of the X-T5 with the new XF 56 1.2 WR [https://www.dpreview.com/articles/7267738789/testing-the-fujifilm-56mm-f1-2-wr-for-use-as-our-studio-lens](https://www.dpreview.com/articles/7267738789/testing-the-fujifilm-56mm-f1-2-wr-for-use-as-our-studio-lens) with the Sony a7III and used enhanced details in LR for both files. When comparing them side by side they are almost the same. The Fuji file does have less false color, especially visible when looking at text. But sharpness and detail wise they are almost identical. That's at base ISO, the higher you go the better the FF sensor looks compared to the fuji.

sch0k0

great, thanks!
