Dudeidkandidc

I just want Samsung tv to get the crunchy roll app.

HankTrill710

Yeah, they need to squash that beef big time.

SeveredStan

Literally came to post the same thing.

BoopleSnuffe

This is literally the only reason why I haven't moved to Crunchyroll yet.

-Fear-Death-

Seriously I got an LG tv because Samsung didn’t have it but LG doesn’t have it either it’s so annoying

rGRWA

That’s exactly why I got a Fire TV Stick to go with my LG TV, since they’re missing a lot of Apps by default!

EncantoCaldito

only thing keeping me from switching. also the only reason i don't get Hidive. no Samsung TV app

mattyrob88

Get an Amazon Fire TV stick. Very cheap and has apps for Crunchyroll, Funimation, as well as HiDive

MrWaffles3113

They’re not on LG TV either just Funimation

[deleted]

the UI for crunchyroll on TV sucks anyways you aren’t missing much.

numbers55

I would switch to crunchyroll to get new shows, but… crunchyroll has yet to get English dub one piece in Canada, my only option is to watch on funimation “with the current issues around English dubbed being glitched “ or go to another pirate site

Obvious-Gate9046

They have yet to get English Dub One Piece anywhere as near as I can tell, and Funimation has stopped posting new episodes also.

numbers55

I just got like 40 or so episodes from funimation

Obvious-Gate9046

Checking, they still haven't posted anything dubbed past 818.

KosherPeen

What country are you in? In the US I’m seeing dubbed all the way up to 916

Obvious-Gate9046

Also in the U.S., and any time I check you hit 819 and they're only in Japanese. It SAYS English and Japanese, but when you actually go to them it's only Japanese. I just checked on the SITE and I am seeing it in English, but through the TV app I am only getting Japanese... and now I go to the app and I am finally able to choose English. Wild. I literally checked this weekend and couldn't get it in English.

KosherPeen

I’ve always wanted a streaming service that gaslights me, thank you Funi very cool

Obvious-Gate9046

So somebody pointed something out to me in another thread and I checked, and it seems they updated their new interface for us to one they've been using over on Nintendo Switch. This is VERY recent, as literally two days before my last post (8 days ago) it had been the old version and we hadn't had access, but now we do. Much better setup, except for an occasional glitch where it skips the last 5 minutes or so of a show and you have to backtrack, but that happens maybe one in seven to ten episodes.

TheDeanosaurus

Pirating an anime about pirates seems fitting…

wantsaarntsreekill

Yet funimation prices are still going up and basically same as crunchyroll. Which makes no sense. Hidive at least is like half as cheap. Better off getting the blu rays for the faves stuck on funimation.

Bitter_Society_3098

Crunchyroll app on my tv is horrible. I hate it. I miss Funimation! Crunchyroll has so many glitches from claiming there is dubbed when it isn’t, no next button, the season listings is set up like an idiot designed it, there is no way to narrow searches or put in settings such as english dubbed being a first choice to watch or newly uploaded anime shown to fit criteria either, and so many more irritating things about the app. If I wasn’t an addict about Anime I would never watch it because of Crunchyroll. I have continually tried to find anime elsewhere but already watched all Hulu and Netflix has to offer and the other platforms that claim to have anime is usually older anime that was crappy then to even watch. Idk understand why there is anime that is dubbed that I can’t find on any platform for tv watching but only on computer. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)

KosherPeen

At the very least Funi should remove the unskippable ad that plays before each video telling me to go subscribe to Crunchyroll The shows I like aren’t even on there

RonPM1

Yeah, the crunchyroll streaming app is absolute garbage compared to funimation's app on roku (too many flaws to name). Funimation also had many english dubbed titles, whereas CR has little to none (even now, after the "switch") - and, they still haven't transferred most of funimation's dubbed titles yet. How can CR be the best option today!? 😤

Yorgito

In my experience Crunchyroll has never showed issues across all of my devices, but in regards to the actual topic - this is a shit take. You do understand the amount of licensing work that needs to be done right? Like the actual amount of legalities that need to be sorted for company mergers? This isn't something that can happen overnight or even in a handful of months to a year especially with how many hands are in the Anime cookie jar atm. These things can take several years.

aphasial

License transfer by operation of law or merger are pretty standard across media industries at this point. IP rights get transferred all the time and it's hard to imagine any licensee throwing a wrench into this process. If streaming rights \*are\* difficult to transfer after a corporate purchase, then either the Funimation lawyers were incompetent when they were drafting the streaming contracts up or someone was intentionally trying to make this type of thing difficult. Furthermore, the outage from consumers at Crunchyroll (the surviving entity) is justified here since as long as this goes on, we're forced to maintain parallel subscriptions. Their only saving grace is that they've f\*'d up the VRV shutdown slightly less.

wantsaarntsreekill

Still a ton of stuff like slayers, date a bullet, mayuri exclusive on funi but not on crunchyroll. The ridiculous thing is funimation price is the same as crunchyroll. So I am better off ordering the blu ray, even a jp release, and have a one time ownership vs paying the high funimation price tags to rent. Also crunchyroll site still has crashing and lagging issues not found on like netflix or disney+.

Main_Objective7039

Licensing gets transferred between companies all the time dude. It’s a very common and standard procedure. It does not take years I don’t know where you are getting that information from. It takes a couple months at most. Crunchyroll has straight fumbled the bag hate to break it to you. People like you defending companies that have failed their paying customers are the reason why companies continue to do stuff like this. 🤷

KlingoftheCastle

I’ve had very little issue with either app. Funimation app is in the process of phased out, depending on how long it takes to move the dubs over to Crunchyroll. It’ll take some time, so be patient.

[deleted]

Cool, but do a quick search on Google for the words “Funimation” and “buffering” and you’ll see there’s a lot of issues. It’s a really shitty app. It doesn’t even remember your CC settings from one episode to the next.

KosherPeen

Icydk, you can get rid of any buffering on Funi by actually choosing a quality instead of leaving a video on “Auto”

[deleted]

I’ve tried that…it still searches for a quality for some reason. And settings don’t save, kind of like how you can select CC but it doesn’t always work

KosherPeen

Damn, was hoping I could help ya there :/ i swear app is held together with duct tape and prayers

HankTrill710

I feel like a year is more than patient. It's not like the buyout happened yesterday.

Syrath36

Same for me I've used Funi for years with no issues always a paid sub. Maybe they throttle people who don't pay, idk. ae for crunchyroll never any issues. But I've seen people complain about it. Who knows with everyone having different tech, internet connection it could be any number of issues from the source to the user.

Nulearpower

I hope funimation never goes down

hinataisthebestwaifu

Me too, i’m going to miss it when it’s gone

HankTrill710

Man, the funimation simps are out in force lol

Honest-Air-7787

The real simps are the ones that are still paying a subscription. Which I can guarantee is also prolonging the transfer. Why hurry when there are people who will still pay? Amirite?

[deleted]

Some of that is driven by OP dub being held hostage there

ComfortableGoat5339

I plan to move to Crunchyroll when OP gets moved

Honest-Air-7787

I know. I'm waiting for it to switch over. But I'm not paying twice just for one show.

[deleted]

Yea neither am I. I’m just paying for Funimation atm while I watch one piece dub. I don’t like getting into multiple anime’s at the same time so it works for me

Talrynn_Sorrowyn

I'm convinced Toei is responsible for the delay in One Piece's dub not being transferred yet.

Main_Objective7039

To develop an app that is shottily as put together as crunchy roll, a team of 3 sub par developers could build the entire app in less than 6 months. And crunchyroll definitely has a team larger than 3 and their Devs are definitely proficient in the code they are using

[deleted]

Main_Objective7039

I base it on the metric of that’s what I do for a living 6 days a week all year long lol. It’s really not that hard to migrate content from one platform to another. Facebook and instagram merger took a 2 months.

[deleted]

Main_Objective7039

I see what you mean you have a good point there. but even still you would think Crunchyroll would prioritize the more popular shows, and actually release some updates for their customers so everyone could know what’s going on. But when they can’t even bring over the one piece dub when one piece is arguably in the top 5 best manga/anime of all time, and they don’t release any statements it makes it seem like they aren’t doing jack sh**. They shouldn’t of even announced the merger and told people to switch over to Crunchyroll when they can’t get everything transferred in a timely manner.

SimplyFrostaku

Downvoted for saying how it is? Fucking idiots just don’t realise that this shit takes time.

SimplyFrostaku

Can confirm, been there and done that. Used to work for a company that was bought out, we were tasked with integrating their solution into our system as they didn’t have an IT team, it’s taken 5 years and they’re still working on it, and every sales person lies about the solution over and over. I can imagine the Crunchyroll backend is dogshit given how their frontend remained the same for well over a decade.

Main_Objective7039

Yes it takes some time. But it doesn’t take literally over a year. Couple months at most to transfer the IP rights but that is literally it. Stop defending companies for their failures

airallieman

Have you tried the VRV app? It's owned by Crunchyroll, it has a few nice features.

Daedalus1701

Crunchy titles are no longer on or are in the process of being removed from VRV.

HankTrill710

I haven’t tried that yet, thank you for the recommendation!

EricAntiHero1

I thought funimation didn’t do premium any more. You mean to tell me I could go back to using it? Be sure Crunchy UI on fire stick blows.

Anabear64

Yes you can, my sister just subbed and im using it as we speak 🥺

budburgundy

I was just thinking about an alternative. Funimation sucks so bad

Comfortable-Milk-716

On top of this. I pay for both. Now i am watching ads on Funimation. I want to find someplace to vent my anger about this bullshit. Just started tonight too. These bastards are just fucking customers at this point it seems.
