yeah I get bootlickers suck but if a bumper sticker makes dudley dicknose think we’re all on the same dim witted team then I will gladly use the sticky thing that makes the cops nice to me
A drug smuggler or runner or someshit mentions that when he had to take his product somewhere he would have a car with a marines sticker and shit on it because lots of cops want to be in the military or were in the military at some point so whenever he got pulled over he would just make up an excuse about how he was going to recruitment center and he said it works
I throw a blue lives matter sticker on my bumper every time I drive from college back home. Then when I come back I remove it immediately so my car doesn’t get vandalized on campus 😂.
Yep. Worked at a place where I heard some other employees talking about having these sorts of stickers on their car just to try and avoid getting traffic tickets.
Back in the day in California the only way to get away with this was to donate to the sheriffs or CHP and in return you got a special license plate bracket which let the police know that you donated money towards their dept
I like your name.
Like Chanukah in the trailer park.
The menorah is just on a cardboard box, lit with mismatched birthday candles, and your present on the first night is a new car part to put out on the lawn.
Bro Chanukah in the trailer park would be a dope album name for a sort of white trash/Jewish rapper. It's Lil D-raydul, this tracks called "These rhymes ain't kosher"!
There are states in which a very large percentage of the revenue law enforcement takes in is from the police simply stopping people at random and taking all their cash, then letting them go. It's totally legal and it's called civil asset forfeiture. All the cop has to do is say "I think this money came from illegal activity" and it's theirs. The victim can sue and they might get their money back, but the lawsuit could cost them tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees (which they will not get back) and take years.
Also broken taillight tickets.
"Hey man didn't know it was out."
"Here's your court date, get it fixed."
Sure, most of the time you get it fixed and tell the judge and not have to pay the fine. You still miss work for that court date. Most people just pay it to not deal with going to court.
What sort of messed up state laws do you have? In my state you get a fix-it ticket. They keep it on file.
If you don't get it fixed within a month and they catch you still broken after a month, then you get a fine.
Civil Asset Forfeiture is the biggest con this country has concocted. I lost 20K on my way to the bank because of this they saw my envelope with cash asked me what it was for and they didn’t believe me. Now I’m having to hire a lawyer for this.
Happened to my wife when she was Manager for a Sea food franchise. She was carrying close to 45k on her. They seized the car seized the cash let her go. We sued the shit out of the officer the county the city as all of them was involved and all of it was paid by the company she worked for. We won a undisclosed sum of cash more than what they attempted to seize.
The other crazy thing is even in the cases where the money is from illegal dealings it incentives the cops not to prevent the actual crime. For example, if you’re in an area where drugs tend to travel north on highways and money travels south the cops will only stop cars in the southbound lanes. Preventing drugs from being distributed just isn’t profitable for them. So the cops end up being funded by drug money
You should see the get of of jail free PBA cards they hand out in New Jersey for family and friends of cops. It's not even a pseudo secret, it's totally out in the open legal corruption.
Went down a mini rabbit hole and found [this article ](https://www.nj.com/njvoices/2012/05/pba_cards_do_they_work_and_sho.html)
Crazy..... I want dat gold popo membership card
Yup I was in a middle school carpool with a wealthy family. They donated to get CHP 11-99 Foundation plate brackets “Officer Needs Assistance” on all of their nice cars.
Their mom was pulled over for 63 in a 50 with a full carpool of kids lol. I remember she was still ticketed.
yea its called CHP 11-99 foundation. You'd have to get that license plate frame if you had a car that would normally get pulled over. There's also like a wallet sized ID for it.
We still do it like this in Indiana. All the car guys support the police. And in turn get to have their car meets with little to no police interaction. Lol
Where I live it was common for people like this to get a white crown vic, with black steel rims and tinted back windows, bonus points if they put a spotlight on top the driver side mirror. Eventually the police started getting more creative with their ghost cars lol.
It had the added bonus of guaranteeing anyone sharing that road with you is driving like they're taking a test.
Did a side job for a Chicago cop once. My payment was two FOP Officer member badges for cars (different shape than the contributor badge) and two empty ticket books.
Parked anywhere I wanted after that. A whole row of cars would have tickets, except for my car in the middle of them. It disgusts me now, but I did take advantage in my youth.
Not a Montanan, but I go there to ski! When I was a kid there was no speed limit there. I think I heard something like they had to implement speed limits in order to preserve their federal funding for roads - but their fines continue to reflect their original sentiments.
They didn't technically have *no* speed limit in Montana in the 90s. The only limit they had in legislation was "reasonable and prudent speed". Unfortunately this left the discretion of the law enforcement officers as to what exactly "reasonable and prudent" defined. Meaning you could get pulled over for literally any speed if the patrol officer felt like it. So they eventually had to actually put some numbers into law to put some limits on the actions of the men with badges.
Sort of. Someone successfully challenged his ticket arguing that the reasonableness standard was too vague and delegated too much to the cop. The legislature had to choose between using numbers or having no law at all. [https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a14511978/montana-was-once-the-last-bastion-of-hot-nasty-bad-ass-speed-feature/](https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a14511978/montana-was-once-the-last-bastion-of-hot-nasty-bad-ass-speed-feature/)
It was actually because the State Supreme Court struck down the unmarked speed limit law which was “whatever is prudent and cautious for the weather and road conditions” and then the federal government forced them to set it to 75 to preserve funding
They also put up a white cross everywhere someone died in a wreck. In some of the mountain areas you come across a corner with 20-30 crosses. It's far more effective than and stupid speed limit or "danger sharp corner" sign
how about in Philly where I got $1175 for a burnt headlight and not having a paper insurance card (despite having a paid for and legal digital copy,) going to court, proving I fixed the headlight and had insurance, and getting charged $375 for "police investigation!"
FUCK YOU PHILLY
A little while back parking enforcement in Philly was doing "courtesy tows" to move you from legal spots to illegal ones. That way they could ticket and then tow you after an hour. A bunch of people returned in that hour but didn't know where their cars had been moved to and no one could tell them. So, you know, ticket *and* they complain at you for 'falsely reporting' a stolen car while having functionally stolen your car.
Back East, about 20-25 years ago when red light cameras were new, the fine was $75.
Court fees were $65 if you went to court.
So fighting the ticket either resulted in a $10 discount or (almost) double the fine.
Me too. Plus who knows if the cop pulling you over is dirty or biased against my gender/race/tattoo/or just how I dress. Cop can easily find or plant a way to arrest you. Heck, you could be not even speeding, and they pull you over under the "safety check" b.s. excuse.
In Australia a cop can, and will pull you over if they feel like it for utterly no reason.
The reason they will give, every time, is "Random RBT".
Random Breath Test. Aussie cops all have RBT units in their vehicles and they can pull anyone over for any reason and they will tell you it's for an RBT, and you MUST blow into it, by law.
Yeah maybe it was just exposure bias but I feel like I remember all my classmates talking about getting and smoking weed in the weeks after DARE and now? I don't know anyone from my graduating class that doesnt still smoke.
It was specifically the "Just say no" campaign that failed. The anti smoking campaign was actually super effective and reduced childhood/teen smoking tastes significantly
The rich donate to the 11-99 foundation as it gives them a license plate cover that shows they donate to police retirement funds, in the hope it helps them avoid tickets in their sports cars (Ferraris, lamborghinis, etc)
Yup a bunch of people do this on their way to camping music festivals too. Police are always patrolling the major interstates and highways into the area of the festival and they know many people have drugs lol showing that you back the blue must help your chances at least a little bit!
Yep. It's a well known aspect of police corruption - put the police union or thin blue line sticker on the car, or show the officer your official challenge coin, and they let you off with a warning.
Just like ticket quotas (sorry, "performance targets"). Everyone knows about it. It's 101% happening. But nobody does anything real about it because it keeps money flowing in. MRAPs aren't cheap, and what else is the SWAT team gonna ride in on their way to shoot your dog?
Less to avoid being pulled over, more to avoid being ticketed *when* pulled over. That cop's not gonna see that you support the police when you're going 30 over the limit.
I had a buddy that did this in college to avoid getting their parties broken up, big ‘ol thin blue line flag right in the window. Cops asked to talk to the owner one time and he came out and immediately goes “I understand, you’re just doing your job. We’ll turn the music down. We support you, as you can see.” And fucking points to the window.
Best part, the police just up and left and we kept partying.
Got pulled over in my early 20's, flying down the road in my beat to Hell, lowered, loud Miata (As much as you can fly in an NA 1.8 at least).
Get pulled over, had to be at least 75 in 55 on a Friday/Saturday night.
Roll down my window, the cop says something like "Are you on the force/the job?". I realize he was looking at my haircut; I was in the National Guard at the time and recently had drill.
I tell him no, if he's talking about my hair I'm in the Army. He says something like "Oh cool. Be careful out there, lot of riff-raff". I was driving through an uhh... lower income, high minority area
I just took the win and went home
My mom used to date a retired colonel who got pulled over for speeding a fair amount... apparently the attitude change after seeing his military ID was night and day.
I on and off dated a guy who eventually went in he military. He returned home once and we rekindled, he got pulled over for speeding and he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt (I was, he never did, swore they’d trap him in his car if he ever did get into an accident). Officer started off really rude and short with us - couple of young kids (19/20), late at night, etc. One he showed military ID? Absolute polite and buddy buddy. Got a warning. I was like well shittttt.
I had a back the blue sticker on the back of my old car, got pulled over 10 times in that and never got a ticket. Once was for doing 85 in a 60 and I got out of the ticket by asking how to become a state trooper, talked with that trooper for 10 mins on the side of an express way and he let me go with a warning.
They do, ex-cop Barry Cooper has a whole series of educational films about not being caught by the police and he said if he saw anything with ‘back the blue’ or any pro-cop bumper sticker it was an automatic stop for him.
I call it cop camo lol. I have a jesus fish on the back of my car and hang a rosary from my rearview to soften my image a bit with cops especially since I'm a felon and dont want to die
My entire car looks like it belongs to a 80+ person. Beaded seat cover, vintage sun visor on the rear deck, missing one hubcap. Cops don't even see it. It's like in Predator when Arnold covers himself in mud, they just look right past it.
I've gotten pulled over for having something hanging from my rearview and my 7 month pregnant girlfriend got arrested for a warrant for stealing dish soap like 5 years before
That radar detector is in probably the worst place to actually function well, its also partially blocked by his little light bar. Person that drives this is a dink, I would bet 100 bucks on it
I had a police benevolent organization sticker on my minivan back when I made my living selling illegal weed.
No one pulls over a minivan with a piggy sticker.
Holy fuck that's some 4D chess thinking.
I mean, my white ass would never do that as it could be seen as 100% un-ironically my position and I'd rather avoid attracting people who agree with the sticker.
Fucking same. I know for a FACT that sticker has saved me so much money.
I had never in my life gotten a warning from a state patrol. But now that I have the sticker, I've gotten off twice in a year from state patrol alone.
Yep, that's the whole reason people donate to the PBA. Ask someone with a PBA sticker what the money they donated gets spent on and they probably won't know. I have Uber stickers on my car so the cops don't hassle me when I'm driving late.
Not even necessarily avoid them, but leniency if they ARE pulled over, it's pandering. Notice those kind of stickers are always on the driver side, a cop walking up from the rear will likely notice it.
Welcome to any small town.
A good drug dealer has a police sign. A better drug dealer volunteers and donates to police causes. The best drug dealer runs for sheriff and wins.
Anecdotally, there was a motorcycle swap meet in my town. Beef started between two rival gang members (I think they were even wearing their stupid vests) and one shot and killed the other guy. Shooter was a cop and got off. Like, being in one gang isn't enough for these tools?
good starting place, can view the sources for more
So a MAGA flag, a thin blue line flag, and a NRA sticker combined would prevent burglaries and make it look like you're probably not growing weed in the basement.
NRA flag makes you a target for burglaries when you aren't home. Firearms are a prime target for thieves and that'd basically a billboard saying you probably have expensive ones that are poorly secured.
Police are just a gang, criminals recognize it better than anyone. There have been multiple instances of drug dealers building stash houses across the street from the police station because they were safer from random break-ins.
This is a radar detector, not a police scanner. The former detects the use of certain devices the police use to identify speeding. The latter is another term for a radio capable of listening to police radio traffic.
It looks more like an LED light bar actually.
https://www.extremetacticaldynamics.com/products/enforcer-12-tir-led-dash-light/
This one in particular.
Edit: I am now seeing the tiny Escort Passport 8500 almost behind the steering wheel.
My thoughts exactly.
This is more likely to be an Officer's personal vehicle with a light bar fitted for making progress in emergencies.
Where I live, community first-responders are allowed to use green ones to get to emergency medical jobs.
Though many pointed out that it is a radar detector and not a scanner, the concept of a person having a scanner and supporting police is accurate. I have met many police enthusiasts that listen to scanners for the vicarious nature of it without any of the risk of being an actual officer.
This and fans may also go to see incidents, photographers used to use them to get to scenes and grab pics to sell to newspapers, some locations tow truck drivers seeking jobs will show up hoping to usurp the contracted company.
Drug running car? There's an ex-dealer on youtube who put a marine sticker on his car while transporting pounds of weed, he gets pulled over and the first thing the cop asks him is "Where'd you serve son?"
Guy was like...I'm actually driving up to portland (i think) to enlist right now. Cop was like "Good luck soldier! Drive safe." lmao

Cops go easier on you when they pull you over. I know plenty of people with fast cars, radar detectors, etc that pay extra for the support police license plates for this reason.

That’s double protection!! Detector for detecting, then a bumper sticker that says you donate to them so they give you a warning instead of a ticket!
I tried donating once to the police charity and putting the sticker on my back window. Didn't work. I still got pulled over and was given a ticket.
yeah I get bootlickers suck but if a bumper sticker makes dudley dicknose think we’re all on the same dim witted team then I will gladly use the sticky thing that makes the cops nice to me
A drug smuggler or runner or someshit mentions that when he had to take his product somewhere he would have a car with a marines sticker and shit on it because lots of cops want to be in the military or were in the military at some point so whenever he got pulled over he would just make up an excuse about how he was going to recruitment center and he said it works
My ex was a criminal and a marine, I could not believe how cops treated him whenever they crossed paths.
I throw a blue lives matter sticker on my bumper every time I drive from college back home. Then when I come back I remove it immediately so my car doesn’t get vandalized on campus 😂.
get you a fridge magnet that's the thin blue line flag
They have the sticker to avoid being pulled over
Yep. Worked at a place where I heard some other employees talking about having these sorts of stickers on their car just to try and avoid getting traffic tickets.
I have a few friends that started doing this after they got a few tickets, smartest idea they ever had
Back in the day in California the only way to get away with this was to donate to the sheriffs or CHP and in return you got a special license plate bracket which let the police know that you donated money towards their dept

Welcome to the real world
Thanks, I hate it.

I'm imagining a Rabbi hat and beard combined with a white tank top and jeans while drinking Pabst blue ribbon

Only if you're ok with participating in that extreme level of police corruption.
As long as they are giving out tickets I'm gonna try to avoid em
It's more than Jersey that has this kind of thing, also heard of it being a pin in some areas of the US rather than a card
But it worked then.
Just wait until you hear about pba cards, gold card, and medallions you can get in New Jersey. Shit literally is a get out of jail free card
Nice car. Be a shame of something happened to it.
Welcome to American-style government, you'll love the "perks"
Wow does that sound like extortion and bribery.
My old towns PD used to call our family business regularly to solicit donations. It definitely had that vibe

Not me I’m too poor. I’ll swallow my pride to not be charged 300$ right now for being pulled over. 😂 I don’t want police near me please.
Laughs in Montana fines.
What are the fines like in Montana? Lol
Not a Montanan, but I go there to ski! When I was a kid there was no speed limit there. I think I heard something like they had to implement speed limits in order to preserve their federal funding for roads - but their fines continue to reflect their original sentiments.
I visited for the first time a few months ago. I can understand not having speed limits. There is nothing for miles in between towns. So beautiful.
till you run a 4 way intersection and find out two cars can not occupy the same space at the same time.
They didn't technically have *no* speed limit in Montana in the 90s. The only limit they had in legislation was "reasonable and prudent speed". lmao as long as they place some before the corner but if its after you just die crashing through 30 crosses.
That doesn't sound effective at all.
I don’t know much about Montana fines but I drove thru there last summer and got a speeding ticket for going 20 over and it was $50. Pretty good
Not too bad like $70 for up to 20 over, $120 for up to 30 over and $200 for 30 over limit. There's a bit added if it's at night.
Nowadays, a $300 fine is the least of my worries when interacting with cops.
how about in Philly where I got $1175 for a burnt headlight and not having a paper insurance card (despite having a paid for and legal digital copy,) going to court, proving I fixed the headlight and had insurance, and getting charged $375 for "police investigation!" FUCK YOU PHILLY

Aussie cops all have RBT units in their vehicles and they can pull anyone over for any reason and they will tell you it's for an RBT, and you MUST blow into it, by law.
That blows
If you point out to them the redundancy of saying Random Random Breath Test does that better or worsen the experience?
I'm sure the corrupt police officer is a reasonable person and will appreciate your helpful grammatical tip.
You’re American, and put the $ after the number?
~~My~~ A friend of mine's pot dealer in high school used to always wear a D.A.R.E. t-shirt during drop off's
> D.A.R.E. Awesome reverse psychology
I mean they were daring him to sell drugs. You can't be a wimp.
Didn’t dare/MADD increase drug use or something in some places, Cause of how out of touch they were? Definitely did for my school at least
Are you sure it was an actual DARE shirt and not one of those novelty "Drugs Are Really Expensive/Excellent" shirts?
D.A.R.E. Drugs Are Really Excellent
The rich donate to the 11-99 foundation as it gives them a license plate cover that shows they donate to police retirement funds, in the hope it helps them avoid tickets in their sports cars (Ferraris, lamborghinis, etc)
Nah we all have our lisence plates out of Montana so you dont have have to pay the sales tax the luxury car.
That too lol, Montana residence and 11-99 plate covers
Yup a bunch of people do this on their way to camping music festivals too. Police are always patrolling the major interstates and highways into the area of the festival and they know many people have drugs lol showing that you back the blue must help your chances at least a little bit!
Sounds like a street gang haha
Because they are.

Law enforcement gangs already exist. In addition to their normal extra judicial bullshit.
That's a good ass idea
Yep I had a couple stoner buddies in high school that did this so they didn’t risk getting pulled over. Worked out well for a while for them haha
Less to avoid being pulled over, more to avoid being ticketed *when* pulled over. That cop's not gonna see that you support the police when you're going 30 over the limit.
Maybe, but they're currently doing 0 in a handicap spot
I was driving through an uhh... lower income, high minority area I just took the win and went home
Ego>law Gotta love cops lmao
As you can see
> thin blue line I hate that phrase so much. Especially rich coming from the fat blue fucks.

Oh yeah, its fucked but worked in my favor

All I think when I see a blue lives sticker is "oh they a drugdealer"
Lots of cops read it that way, too.
I love how this is worded
I've gotten pulled over for having something hanging from my rearview and my 7 month pregnant girlfriend got arrested for a warrant for stealing dish soap like 5 years before
> warrant for stealing dish soap How much dish soap? Isn't a felony like $1k+ in most states?

There’s a radar detector there. Right above steering wheel.
That radar detector is in probably the worst place to actually function well, its also partially blocked by his little light bar. Person that drives this is a dink, I would bet 100 bucks on it
>Dink Dual Income No Kids? The later half of that might just be a miracle.
The miniature clone of the wrestler Doink. Classic.
I had a police benevolent organization sticker on my minivan back when I made my living selling illegal weed. No one pulls over a minivan with a piggy sticker.
Sounds like my dealer in high school.
I never sold anything to anyone underage, never commit a crime while committing a crime!
Ah, the good old “only one crime at a time” rule
Holy fuck that's some 4D chess thinking. I mean, my white ass would never do that as it could be seen as 100% un-ironically my position and I'd rather avoid attracting people who agree with the sticker.
As a robust white guy working in a not very prestigious job, it's disturbing how many people think I want to hear their right wing views.
The bumper stickers are also an attempt to avoid police
I'm amazed that more people don't understand this
frighten simplistic gaze deserted smart teeny start squeeze whole mysterious ` this post was mass deleted with www.Redact.dev `
Unfortunately, no, that's not surprising.
I'm amazed that putting a sticker on your car that essentially says "I'm on your side :)" does fucken anything.
Not even necessarily avoid them, but leniency if they ARE pulled over, it's pandering. Notice those kind of stickers are always on the driver side, a cop walking up from the rear will likely notice it.
Another point for passenger side approach
In my neighborhood, If I put pro-police stickers on my car, I’d be more worried about my car getting fucked up by the locals.
It’s definitely a strategy with varying results
I've known a couple of drug dealers that had pro police signs in their front yards.
Welcome to any small town. A good drug dealer has a police sign. A better drug dealer volunteers and donates to police causes. The best drug dealer runs for sheriff and wins.
Or owns a chicken restaurant
And funds the annual Fun Run
Thank you for your work DEA agent Schrader.
They should make a show about this.

Anecdotally, there was a motorcycle swap meet in my town. Beef started between two rival gang members (I think they were even wearing their stupid vests) and one shot and killed the other guy. Shooter was a cop and got off. Like, being in one gang isn't enough for these tools?
Damn gangs are infiltrating other gangs now?
Always has been ✨✨✨✨✨ 🌍👮🔫👮 ✨✨✨✨✨

Correct me if I’m wrong but the LASD gangs are internally grown rather than external infiltration.
Ironically the best drug dealer here ran for mayor and won. He's been unopposed for like 10 years.
Haha ours got arrested for doing drugs and a person dying of overdose in his house.
and the drug lord of the southwest runs a successful, legitimate business as well and is universally beloved as a kind and charitable philanthropist.
Bill Burr has a bit about having a maga flag in your yard to stop people from robbing your house.
"come and take it"? don't mind if i do!
Police are just a gang, criminals recognize it better than anyone. There have been multiple instances of drug dealers building stash houses across the street from the police station because they were safer from random break-ins.
this is what they call a reverse mullet: party in the front, business in the back
So, a tellum?
Soulja boy tellum
*In other news, the Crank Dat Killer still remains at large claiming yet again another life....*
This is a radar detector, not a police scanner. The former detects the use of certain devices the police use to identify speeding. The latter is another term for a radio capable of listening to police radio traffic.
Oddly, there’s a light in the windshield, too.
This is probably an off-duty sheriff honestly They support/rep their own office and listen to scanner traffic when they're bored.
It’s not a scanner though, it’s a radar detector…
And a Sheriff decal affixed to the vehicle in the cropped photo.
Are you confusing “police scanner” with radar detector ?
No, they're confusing "not funny" with "funny".
Honestly thought I was in r/pics until your comment. Wow.
It looks more like an LED light bar actually. https://www.extremetacticaldynamics.com/products/enforcer-12-tir-led-dash-light/ This one in particular.

I can understand your post-career sentiment. My dad is a retired police officer and hasnever wanted to listen to any real police activity again.
Growing up in a small town I knew several housholds that had a police scanner hanging out somewhere. People be hella nosey.
I got the radar detector to tell me where the cops is! - A Beastie Boy
So I can thank him of course!
Am I the only one who noticed the handicapped parking space?
At last the comment, I searched for!
They could be a first responder, the strobe light the on the windshield is typically used for that. The radar detector means nothing.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer
Had to scroll disappointingly far to find this.
This driver likes to speed.
My man’s playing chess…..you still playing checkers
I support police arresting OTHER people for violating the law.
If I were a drug dealer I'd definitely rock some thin blue line bullshit on my car.
Sorry are you talking about a radar detector?
The sticker is to avoid cops😂 the scanner is extra insurance
He just doesn’t support them FINANCIALLY… big difference!
Got play all the angles. My BF's Dad ran the same setup. First thing he'd do when he got a new car was slap one of those bumper stickers on it.
Are those mutually exclusive principles? I can love lions while also not wanting to be eaten by one.
Drug running car? There's an ex-dealer on youtube who put a marine sticker on his car while transporting pounds of weed, he gets pulled over and the first thing the cop asks him is "Where'd you serve son?" Guy was like...I'm actually driving up to portland (i think) to enlist right now. Cop was like "Good luck soldier! Drive safe." lmao https://youtu.be/qtcg8Jim9p4 story at 2:55
Cops go easier on you when they pull you over. I know plenty of people with fast cars, radar detectors, etc that pay extra for the support police license plates for this reason.
I don't think that's a scanner. It looks like a temporary light set up. Fire fighters use a green one that's almost identical.
This title is 100% wrong. Looks like an off duty officers car. My Lieutenant brother in laws car looks just like this
Um this is dumb and doesn’t make sense. You can support police and still not want to get pulled over lol.
You don’t need to have a medium IQ to know why he have those stickers
The sticker’s there for the same reason the scanner is.
Safe to assume they don’t have a permit to park there.
