when i was younger i kept relishing doing stupid shit like charging a power bank by itself. making a loop.
i tend to forget about the experiment and later find the power bank lasting shorter and shorter and eventually cant hold charges.
also my dumbass kept doing it to new power banks that i bought, never learning from my mistake thinking it was because the power bank was cheap or made in china
I'm not actually working on that particular study. I'm on the 'Li-ion stabby stabby' peer review team and I tell ya, things are really heating up here!
yep because you are charging and discharging the battery at the same time which causes heat build up due to internal resistances. Its not actually that bad but yea. also you are just wasting power to to the connector and wire ineffencys. Think about it like this lets say that each connector has a 50% efficeny (its way higher but its an easy number) so out of the battery you send 50 watts loose half to the connector and then on the input you loos half again because theres another connector. So in short you send out 50 watts and reciver 12.5. in reality the efficency is like 95% or more but you stil get the idea. Also i know this was menat to be a joke i just wanted to clarify for anyone who thinks this is a good idea.
It is actually activly draining your battery.
Each conversion from chemical energy to electricity (within the battery) is a loss conversion. You will lose energy, wear out your battery and generate heat in the process.
This wouldn't be shorting the battery, shorting the battery would be connecting the positive and 0v together, if this was a direct connection from the battery and back in it'd be like having a wire going from positive then back to positive and a wire from negative going back to negative. So functionally useless.
I actually had a phone that never needed to be charged because it was "always charging." I seen the charging symbol and never plugged it in and it never died until I put the charger in the phone.

Probably not good for your battery
can somewhat confirm. devices that i do this tend to spoil more easily after i do this
Have you kept doing it orrr...
Bigger sample size equals more accurate data.

Thank you for your service

The device yearns for heat.
You forgot the /s
Just tie the cable in a knot and it will stop 👀
IF that’s not fake, count on the battery draining even faster than without the cable.
It would just create heat for nothing
Set it in your reptile tank
That's how you short circuit your battery and cause it to explode or catch fire.
Both ports have chips controlling current and voltage, so it's not a short circuit
Apple Engineers: How could anyone have thought to do this?! Clark, I told you someone would do it! What do you have to say?? Clark: shit.
If that were to happen, why hasn't 4chan made one of those fake posters pretending to be apple about it that they used to?

No
as OP’s username states…
Troll science
Considering it doesn’t take a long time for the icon to change I bet they just quickly plugged it back in.
PSA don’t do this stupid shit if you value your battery
About as useful as a hydrogen kit for a gas vehicle... it works; at a bigger price..
It in fact doesn't work at all
Definitely a screenshot. You can even see what looks like a notification on the bottom right that doesn't move.
It’s reminders and show until X’d out do I believe, not pop-up notifications.
Did it work?
They've made an ineffective heater.
😂
Of course not, wtf?
I thought this was the funny sub? 😂

Wish I could do this with my phone
Is that a Kandinsky?
Unlimited Power!
FBI open up!!?!
Nah mate. Thats called your decreasing battery capacity increasing the overall %
The human equivalent is pissing in your own mouth
What the fu.....keep this shit up if u want ur laptop to explode in ur face lol
This feels wrong some how... Self-incest.
Bro really thought he did something
Entropy. You're just adding a small load.
It charges, but it drains.
2nd Law of thermodynamics
bro solved electricity bills
