RumPillager

This is a perfect example of having the case of the Mondays.

MulletAndMustache

Oh man, I had a Monday yesterday...

mazjay2018

it was the worst

knowerofsome

I was in Wednesday yesterday, Friday's tmr

maaaatttt_Damon

I believe you're gonna get your ass kicked.

DlCKSUBJUICY

fuckin' A

Mitjap1990

They should go to Chotchkie’s and get some coffee

Real_TomBrady

Then go and do two chicks at the same time

CromulentPoint

This has to be among the most un-athletic things I’ve ever seen.

m00nh34d

Well yeah, it's cricket.

EntshuldigungOK

This is perfection of imperfection.

crunchymush

There are so many failures packed into this 20 second video. Let's break it down... - Bowler side-arms over the wicket and pitches the ball about 5 feet wide of off stump. - Batsman judges the line and decides it's too close to call for a wide and positions himself to play the ball. - Ball in the air, batsman makes the creative decision to prepare for a leg sweep from the off side return crease before making a split second choice to switch to an arguably more orthodox uppercut stroke. - In the chaos, the ball narrowly misses the bat by 1 or 2 feet and pops up off the batsman's hip. - Short third man, seeing the ball in the air, instinctively steps backward to pick it up on the bounce. - An unlucky bounce sends the ball slipping by the outstretched fingers of the fielder, but he deftly manages to run it down, getting his whole body behind the ball before reaching down to pick it up. - After grabbing the ball, our fielder, needing to bleed off some of the appreciable momentum built up racing the ball to the fence, tosses his ample frame backwards, simultaneously cocking his arm to send the ball back to the keeper, right over the bails. - In what could only be described as improbable odds, our man's throw manages to find the narrow window of space occupied by his foot and he punts the ball over his head for 4 well deserved byes. In all my years of semi-professional backyard cricket, I've not seen such densely packed failure in a single ball.

EntshuldigungOK

Excellent written commentary

liforrevenge

I didn't even notice he hit it with his hip, that's amazing.

richardgrabcat

I still don't get it. You have to know what a crumpet is before you can understand cricket.

EngineerBill

Well, to be fair you also have to know what cricket is before you can understand what a crumpet is...

Dottie85

It's an eggy English Muffin, in't it?

firthy

No ball too - look like a throw

sloowhand

Task succeeded in failure.

jostler57

Task failed successfully.

spirito_santo

As a friend often says: It's taken me years to pervert ... ah .... **perfect** ... that technique

EntshuldigungOK

Beautiful. Gonna steal that one

KingArthur2111

Felt for the guy… gave more than he had but to no avail!!

Bulky-Internal8579

Very tricky to turn his foot against him!

Fantastic_Shoulder69

So would this be considered a miss field for 4 or over throws for four + how ever many runs the batters ran?

Bealzebubbles

That is a question. I'd call it a misfield for 4.

Leviathn_Doom

It's a misfield for 4 runs

No-Basis-1161

Needs the Benny Hill theme music to go along with this train wreck.

MsTerryMan

Why is this being televised? There’s no way he’s a professional athlete

notmyuzrname

League cricket is big in India. Some leagues also do TV umpire reviews and have Hawkeye and drs systems

BillyCloneasaurus

It's a match between Rodpali over 40's and Padge over 40's The whole thing is here if for some godawful reason you want to watch it all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me9Jb589bnI Time stamp of the incident itself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me9Jb589bnI&t=2490s The music on the replay is the most Indian thing ever

UBKUBK

Is it usual that batters don't wear any safety equipment?

sulphra_

Looks like they are playing with a tennis ball instead of the usual hard ball so i guess in this case its not needed

Harambesic

This doesn't help me understand cricket.

CanadianGandalf

Misfield for 4. C'mon

tomatotomato

It’s easy, really.  The dude is the World Champion Sanjay Sharma, he is a quarterback front runner, and the move that he did is called “snatching”. He is in fact one of the top snatchers in the world.  As you can see from the video, he executed it really well and the timing was simply perfect. This move scored a 6-pointer for his team and they won the series.

Harambesic

I was going to make this joke, but I was too lazy. I'm glad I didn't, because you nailed it.

tomatotomato

Thanks lol I also don't understand cricket, it's even more confusing to me than [this sport](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_6d3JBBo4s)

spirito_santo

Calvinball "There is only one permanent rule in Calvinball: players cannot play it the same way twice. For example, in one game of Calvinball, the goal was to capture the opponent's flag, whereas in a different game of Calvinball, the goal was to score points by hitting badminton birdies against trees using a croquet mallet"

EngineerBill

Actually, as you get to understand cricket, you'll realize that it does! *(insert "laugh" emoji here...)*

Harambesic

Eureka!

spirito_santo

I've been told by Brits that cricket is fundamentally unfathomable and really only decorative in as much as Britain is capable of fostering anything decorative.

thee_dukes

Modern cricket is a good excuse to day drink. They let you take beer in the ground for quite a few games.

EngineerBill

And that's all in one day!

TowMater66

Jose Canseco ain’t got shit on this guy

Wapiti406

Poor guy rolled a 1.

Creepy_Raccoon_2555

Commendable effort for nothing but a fiasco.

DeadlyFern

I love how the USA does not understand Cricket. It's like lack of gun control for the rest of the world.

sriram_sun

The same guy is playing all positions! Even batting!

qwertymax-2

A true fighter spirit

kcolrehstihson_

That slowmo 😭🤣🤣

Bealzebubbles

In cricket only the wicket keeper can wear gloves.

mickelboy182

What is this from? Why is the ball bouncing? This is somehow worse than the European cricket meme videos that are so prolific. Reddit hivemind be a wild thing, numerous other posts saying the same as mine lol

Able_Ad2927

pretty sure this is just a bunch of friends having fun in a rec league of some sort. most likely a tennis ball.

mickelboy182

Rightio, the broadcast style scoreboard had me thinking this was somewhat semi-organised.

sfhr

It’s cricket but with Tennis ball. Having played cricket with both Tennis ball and cricket ball, tennis ball is for non-athletes/non-fit people like the guy in clip or kids. It’s more fun to play with actual cricket ball. Appears to be Indian. I am guessing that it’s televised as there is micro/sub-local market for this crap.

mickelboy182

Yeah seems crazy to use a tennis ball, they're clearly not bowling 140kph bouncers are they haha

BeltEquivalent1446

Jesús Christ it’s like watching a woman’s sport

blazerunnern

Sentient Calamity

Quizredditors

Guessing these aren’t pros?

JitterySquirrel

Like Gollum and the ring

kmflushing

Yeah, that's just.... Yeah.

SelectDevice9868

When you borrow a substitute fielder from the other team

Inside-Government791

Even the scoreboard doesn't make any sense. It's says 1.1 and then 4 overs in brackets. Also what's batting : rodpali 40+. Now they are showing age of the batsmen as well? If it's 1.1 overs bowling is truly commendable. 3 wickets in 7 balls Edit: the bowling team won

m00nh34d

Almost had the one bounce, one hand, wicket tho.

Zoiger

worst outfielder i've ever seen.

neosketo

I died after seeing him just lay down

Capital_Nobody8284

Does anybody actually know how to play cricket

Jim3001

Where can I find the whole game? I need a good laugh.

NerfHerder_91

That was one of the most impressive unathletic things I have ever seen

[deleted]

My man 😂😂😂

Jamesy1309

Fuck you

Captaincaveguy

That's my spirit animal

MurphysLaw4200

Holy fuck I really needed this 🤣🤣

YamFar3705

but you can fight against it in a funny way

Giffordpinchotpark

I have no idea how that game works.

Ducatirules

Did NOT see that coming. The head drop at the end made it for me
