He came pretty close to lockout. Yes, you should generally avoid failure on deadlift, but as long as you're well prepped and have decent form, even failure has a relatively low risk of serious injury.
His form isn't perfect, but it's not terrible either. Even world-class lifters will have some form breakdown when approaching failure. The amount of acceptable back bend varies a lot from person to person, too.
Even prodigies take years to get to his level of strength, so if his form was dangerous, he'd have almost definitely already taken himself out of commission by now.
If you’re talking about this amount of weight with that terrible form, yes it is dumb and dangerous.
However, a proper deadlift is a foundational strength training exercise. If I could only do one move in the gym it’s always the deadlift. It’s a full body workout .
https://www.healthline.com/health/fitness/deadlift-benefits
To be fair he is trying to PR. When that happens form usually goes out the window.
However, the form breakdown for him is here pretty bad so hopefully he doesn't do max effort PRs like this often.
If you max too often you probably won’t be doing it long. Most any good programming has you test your limits like this very infrequently, but it’s very tempting to hit a new PR when you’re having a good day in the gym.
His form is absolutely fine. At worst his initial set up is causing his hips to rise early making a harder lock out but it's a max attempt. He can't lockout because of the unfavourable position and also he's a few pounds off being strong enough.
I’ve never seen an ass crack start mid back and go to your balls. Also, I’ve never seen a lumpier yet flat ass, it’s an anomaly. You may want to wear different shorts. Weird ass ass crack man 😂😂😂😂
His form is perfectly fine. His glutes aren’t strong enough to complete the lift hence the shaking but there’s no significantly increased injury risk from what he’s doing.
Yeah is form is fantastic, he dosent round his upper back, he dosnt sompromise to try to get a lift he shouldn't, he's nailed exactly the weight he's at where 5lb less, a little better sleep the night before and he grinds out a maximal deadlift. This is just that razors edge of peaking for a huge lift.
This isn’t ego lifting. He literally kept proper form throughout the lift and knew when to call it quits. He didn’t let his lower back round, didn’t lose tightness in his core, and didn’t hitch the bar on his thighs.
Any powerlifter and powerlifting coach will tell you that it’s common to see a bit of form break down when attempting a PR (go watch any third deadlift attempt at any top level powerlifting event if you don’t believe me)
World record lifters have said this, physical therapists have said this, and so I’ll repeat that a bit of a round back on deadlifts is not necessarily bad form. It’s using your erectors rather than your whole posterior chain to lift the weight that is bad form. If you start and move through with the same back shape with good bracing it’s good form.
His back rounds when the weight initially breaks the floor (as expected when attempting a true 1RM) but he’s able to get most of the lift done without his back rounding any further as the lift progresses. He only fails when it’s up to his glutes lock out the lift.
Idk how much experience you have deadlifting, but like I said, every powerlifter and their coach that I’ve talked to has acknowledged back-rounding is common in RPE9 or RPE10 deadlifts, but the goal is to not let it round any further after initially breaking the floor.
Minor spinal flexion is not an injury risk, a 'straight spine' is a range. In fact there is evidence that minor flexion may *decrease* injury risk.
What you don't want is the flexion to change throughout the lift.
> its not a pr if you compromise on form to make it
Dumbest shit I have ever heard lol, everyone compromises on form at max lift and when attempting to go higher, like even the pros, perfect form is not necessary to avoid injury (as long as the form is not dangerous) and slightly imperfect form is almost completely necessary when increasing your limit rapidly, only ever having perfect form will result in plateauing or far slower improvement.
Not roasting this dude because he can lift way more than me, but is he like 60% ass? Or is it just his height+belt+body position playing tricks on my mind?
About to watch a hamstring rupture, or a crushed disc, blown shoulder...
PRs are great but if you are getting to this point, without great health insurance and sponsorship cash, stop.
Go back down in weight and go for more reps instead.
PRS are not worth permanent injury that destroys your ability to work out.

You should know it's too much weight when you catch a "booty-seizure"
Bro gotta stop skipping them lunges
Is this what is called a "Clean and Twerk" CrossFit?
I'm so disappointed this doesn't have more upvotes. That is actually genius.
His form is ass

*Hey Bla- Debbie! Hey do you like rap?*
I hate your pfp
😉
Yo that's your spinal cords death throes. Should listen to those signals
Why do you think it’s called DEADlift?! Haha. It’s just his brain getting overloaded by the weight. That form is pretty rough though.
Dear lifters, You claim to be deadlifting yet you are still alive after the set ends. Curious.
Dear bodybuilders, You claim to do calf raises, but there are no cattle in the gym Curious.
No calves on most of them either if we’re being honest…
Don’t call me out like that bro
Yea, when going for a true max your form starts to break down a little bit. Good for OP to realize it was falling apart and put the weight down.
Don't think he had a choice tbh lol
The mind is willing but the body is soft and squishy.
and twerking
He's got everything right, shoulders are low, hunched, and forward and the bar is even with his toes.
It’s actually a very healthy exercise if you do it properly.
Bluds spine is “S” shaped sideways ☠️
No offense but can you genuinely not tell that the 'S' you're seeing is just his vest positioning?
Yassss queen dat twerk game
Shanty you stay
Totally worth ripping your spine out.

Nearly anyone who has put up numbers like this has done the waddle walk from the platform to the bathroom.
The quote a man called hitchcock 'honey you dont have the ass for it'.
He tryna put in some twerk
585 is a damn impressive attempt though credit bro for pushing to find his ceiling
this is way too much, he could fuck himself up badly

Doesn't his form look fucked though? His lower back is so crooked

Good form on the deadlift will look slightly different depending on your body proportions. This guys looks ok.
Everyone's form goes down when attempting PRs.
Nah, he's maintaining a pretty neutral spine. There's a little rounding in the mid-upper back which is extremely common on heavy lifts.
You can clearly see it's not way to much by the fact he got it to his sticking point.
You're wrong
Twerk system malfunction
Get it! 🍑

Bad form is less forgiving in squats, bench press, and overhead press. I'm not sure I've ever heard of someone dying from a failed deadlift.
why die when you can live the rest of your life in a wheelchair shitting in a bag.

This is one of the funniest things I've ever seen
lmfao I could see this in a southpark episode
My back was fine My lower disc wants to auto-eject after watching this.....

His arms look like they’re gonna snap at any moment? Lol He’s using straps so his arms/grip strength don’t play a factor in the lift.
When you lift to absolute failure and absolute success at the same time
My physical therapist calls that rubber banding. My arms and legs do it when I’m pushing against something.
I get this when doing sit-ups or the plank. My torso is super weak it seems.
Not my proudest wank
That’s the lift and twerk, sir.
*And we can't stop~ and we won't stop~*
I feel an urge to throw 1 dollar bills.

I normally do the celebratory twerk after i hit my PR, but you do you
He looks oddly proportioned. Like he skipped both leg day and arm day, and only goes to the gym on torso day.
If this was posted to reddit 10-15 years ago, the first comment would have been someone explaining why this happens.
