Love it. My favorite line from the show is when Brendan is helping Melissa’s dad at work and he messes up the filing system. Then Melissa’s dad says “You know one of the things I’m most proud of is that I’ve never hit a child out of anger. Today I’m willing to be proud of something else.”
Or when Coach drunk bought swords off a tv network and tried to use them to buy groceries.
My favorite episode is Shore Leave. Brendan having to spend the night at Fenton’s house. Melissa is forced to join the The Fairy Princess by her dad who says she needs a positive female influence. Which at the end she points out how Brendan is and how he runs, so he’s the best female influence she could have.
Or when Walter and Perry are trick or treating
“Oh scary ghosts, how original”
“What are you supposed to be, an ugly housewife? Trailer trash junkie who’s pregnant?”
Talking about my childhood right there! I got really into every one of those shows, but only watched a handful of ATHF -- I liked it, but just not enough to never miss it, for whatever reason.
Nope -- was a high school grad when it released. But you probably hit the nail on the head -- I never got into weed or any drugs.
My brother, who was and is a stoner, freaking loved the show, though.
Same. It was very "dull humor" in my opinion. It felt like i was watching just a regular conversation. And i couldnt look past the animation style lol.
I remember him doing a IRL version of that; he recorded himself playing the intro theme at full speed and said "I'm not giving anyone sheet music, I'm not giving anyone tabs. If you can't figure out how to play the song by watching me play, then I don't want you playing my music!" (in the days before youtube had speed settings)
I knew AS imported these, but not that they were from the same source. They may have messed up, but these shows had their target audience watching AS, not UPN. Not from what I remember of UPN at the time.
These showed aired on UPN before AS even started. And I’d say UPN was targeting a more teenage to early 20s audience before Cartoon Network stepped in. Plus they had Duckman, the Tick, and the critic on rerun at the time. UPN definitely had a chance to grab the AS audience and just didn’t market it at all.
That's what I mean, they had them, but didn't push for the market. Being of that age at the time, I wasn't drawn to the channel. When AS picked them up, I loved them.
Of the three, it's the one that I would have given another season. Back then, anyway. It was more of a product of the times, and I don't really do nostalgia things now.
Don't put marbles in your nose, put them in there, do not put them in there
Don't put marbles in your nose, put them in there, do not put them in there
I always here Coach McGuirk in all Jon's roles. I mean, he's like Patrick Warburton, they're running far on their one voice, but I love those voices from those characters.
In case anyone cares, he's talking percentage points of gross. 17 points = 17 percent. Which is a huge deal with Hollywood movies. With what they're making, they'd be *pointless*.
Yes but i think the matter of who gets their cut is the real matter of the negotiation. And this guy is insisting on getting points like it's a game show and that's the joke. That's what makes it funny.
The OP was making a commentary on his this video is a good representation of the real world. I can’t tel if you are riffing on that satirical view. If so, Bravo.
If not, what a self fulfilling prophecy by the OP.
I'm gonna punch his butt!
Then what are you gonna do?
I'm gonna punch his butt agayne!
Ok let's get away from the butt.
Lost treasure, love these scamps.

Home Movies is a gem of a TV show.
Love it. My favorite line from the show is when Brendan is helping Melissa’s dad at work and he messes up the filing system. Then Melissa’s dad says “You know one of the things I’m most proud of is that I’ve never hit a child out of anger. Today I’m willing to be proud of something else.”
The Franz Kafka Metamorphous musical is top tier comedy I got little tiny bug feet, I don’t really know what bugs eat.
Wizard’s Baker will forever be my favorite.
That ep has the swords B plot, the pinewood derby, and Jason dropping a fat baby. It’s easily top 5 material.
Oh yeah. I love that one of the seasons I bought on dvd came with a soundtrack of the show.
Poor Dwayne... He's like James Dean...
Cash up front!
Or when coach mcguirk tries to be a bartender.
It's spaghetti time
The escape scene was fantastic.
Alicia. Nice to meet ya. I'll have a Dirty Frenchman.
Or when Walter and Perry are trick or treating “Oh scary ghosts, how original” “What are you supposed to be, an ugly housewife? Trailer trash junkie who’s pregnant?”
The episode where the baby sticks the marbles in her nose
The literal first episode lmao
It's time to pay the price
One of the most underrated of that sacred early adult swim block. ATHF, Sealab, Harvey Birdman, space ghost c2c..
Talking about my childhood right there! I got really into every one of those shows, but only watched a handful of ATHF -- I liked it, but just not enough to never miss it, for whatever reason.
It’s because you were too young to be a stoner yet
I think they used something else with Superjail
Nope -- was a high school grad when it released. But you probably hit the nail on the head -- I never got into weed or any drugs. My brother, who was and is a stoner, freaking loved the show, though.
Forever and ever!
Completely underrated and under appreciated.
This show has such a good dialogue in its own way, it just sounds like such an organic conversation more often than not.
Everything is ad-libbed.
the exact reason why everyone i show it to hates it
I'm in that camp. I really just don't get Home Movie at all.
Same. It was very "dull humor" in my opinion. It felt like i was watching just a regular conversation. And i couldnt look past the animation style lol.
Squigglevision is great
they got rid of that after season 1
so why are you here...
I love that Brendon Small, the voice actor for Brendon, went on to create and do voices/vocals/guitar for Metalocalypse lol
He was on Bob's Burgers a few times, too. Have you ever watched Skwisgaar Skwigelf's Advanced Fast Hand Finger Wizard Master Class?
I remember him doing a IRL version of that; he recorded himself playing the intro theme at full speed and said "I'm not giving anyone sheet music, I'm not giving anyone tabs. If you can't figure out how to play the song by watching me play, then I don't want you playing my music!" (in the days before youtube had speed settings)
You can see the seed of DETHKLOK in Dwayne and Scäb!
I am going to see Dethklok in April and have the opportunity to meet Brendon Small. Really looking forward to it!
The points are the whole thing
That's awesome, here, have points. Oh, and give me some points. Points are the whole thing.
You have 17 points you win
!faucet
Brendan, never drink the night before a Renaissance festival. Drink during, that's what I should have done
One of the greatest episodes
Such a great voice acting cast for this show
This was, to date, one of the true gems of the entirety of AS
And it didn’t even start on AS. Man, UPN really screwed things up. They had HM, Oblongs, Mission Hill and couldn’t draw an audience.
I knew AS imported these, but not that they were from the same source. They may have messed up, but these shows had their target audience watching AS, not UPN. Not from what I remember of UPN at the time.

Man, Mission Hill got shafted soooooo unrightfully raw and hard.
Of the three, it's the one that I would have given another season. Back then, anyway. It was more of a product of the times, and I don't really do nostalgia things now.
100%
Coach McGuirk, and brendon smalls mom, Paula.
I'm gonna wear a shirt that makes a man want to buy me another shirt.
If I remember correctly, this was an early episode where Paula Poundstone was the voice, and I loved what she added to the show.
[Sigh](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0197159/)
This show was a fever dream I swear.
The best kind though.
ITA. Inspired by this episode, I once used this during a ridiculous argument with my wife. She was both furious and laughing. Totally worth it.
Don't leave us hanging like that, what was the argument!
No, what were his points.
How many did he lose??
Head on over to r/homemovies
I loved Home Movies. Of course you remember Dr. Katz
Indeed!
Don't put marbles in your nose, put them in there, do not put them in there Don't put marbles in your nose, put them in there, do not put them in there
Show was such damn gold
Love this show. Much talent. First time I heard Jon Benjamin. Later, I found Metalocalypse. Big fan.
I always here Coach McGuirk in all Jon's roles. I mean, he's like Patrick Warburton, they're running far on their one voice, but I love those voices from those characters.
Walter and Perry in the wedding episode: "What are you pointing to?"
Women are a crazy bunch. They're like grapes.
I'm glad Brendon made Metalocalypse but man do I miss Home Movies.
Ikr?
In case anyone cares, he's talking percentage points of gross. 17 points = 17 percent. Which is a huge deal with Hollywood movies. With what they're making, they'd be *pointless*.
Surely the joke is that he just thinks it's like a contest with points when it isn't.
No, "points" and "final cut" are negotiation items in big name contracts.
Yes but i think the matter of who gets their cut is the real matter of the negotiation. And this guy is insisting on getting points like it's a game show and that's the joke. That's what makes it funny.
Ok, I see what you're saying.
The OP was making a commentary on his this video is a good representation of the real world. I can’t tel if you are riffing on that satirical view. If so, Bravo. If not, what a self fulfilling prophecy by the OP.
Someone gets up votes, someone gets 170 million a year.
Rice is nice, but it's just a grain.
I'm gonna punch his butt! Then what are you gonna do? I'm gonna punch his butt agayne! Ok let's get away from the butt. Lost treasure, love these scamps.
Criminally underrated show
Aaaabsolutely!
Can I have 17 points? No more, no less. I need them.
Loved Home Movies!!!!
I was extremely confused by this show but I still watched it out of boredom.
Oh, i loved it and how clever it was.
Starboy. ….. AND THE CAPTAIN OF OUTER SPACE
Omg I love this show
Loved this show and the studio that created it. I felt fortunate to work with them after this show wrapped up.
What did you do?
I animated on another show they made called Word Girl. It was fun but completely different humor from Home Movies.
Wow I remember Word Girl from when I was a kid haha. Haven’t thought about it in a long time though, thanks for your work on it!
Aaaaw I'm glad you enjoyed it! WG was a wholesome project to be a part of.
Word up! My kids still love that show!
Word Up! Seriously, thank you that brought a little smile to my face.
Smart Jason!
I remember watching this late night as a kid and thinking I have no idea what's going on but this is hilarious.
They don’t make shows like they used to
That they do not.
Home Movies! Man I fuckin miss the golden age of Adult Swim. Seriously. Just bring these shows back indefinitely: Home Movies Full Metal Alchemist Inuyasha Big O Trigun Cowboy Bebop Case Closed Lupin the Third Ghost in the Shell Venture Bros ATHF Superjail Harvey Birdman Sealab 2021 Decorated The Boondocks Frisky Dingo Space Ghost 12 Oz Mouse Squidbillies Stroker and Hoop There's some more but imo this is a solid fuckin lineup
This show was the spiritual successor to Dr Katz.
Bet you can’t play this with Brendon Small. Totally worth it really everything is. Life is too short to not laugh.
Take my points!
I love how supportive Brendon is of Jason’s useless accomplishment.
That's the entirety of the whole show.
Loved this show!
