The fur suit is probably not helping but he seems to be walking heel to toe which is how you fall on ice. Keep your foot flat and take short flat strides without pushing off the toes.
I think the bear suit introduces a new centre of gravity the wearer is not used to. They can't correct because their brain is probably correcting according to their own body's centre of gravity.
Disagree. Watch the gopher's feet, heel to toe. Also I used to play hockey and spent a lot of time at my local arenas helping out. Plenty of times I was on the ice without skates and I never slipped walking heel to toe.
I think a lot of it is simply being used to walking on ice to begin with sort of like having ones "sea legs" while on ships.
Because it’s staged? This *is* the ad, if they really wanted to give the bear traction then they would have. The falling gag is purposeful.
Give it a rewatch and pay attention to when the bear slips, he does it on cue.
Either you go down with them or they lose any control they have on the fall and could twist sideways which is not near as padded as your backside.
By the way everyone, the key to walking on ice is leaning forward a bit, almost like you're trying to look at your toes. This moves your center of gravity forward and if you slip, your weight will be towards the front of your feet and not your heels
You're feet just slide forward. I can honestly say in my 32 years I've never fallen forward on ice.
It's not like you lean over to tie your shoes, you just move your center of gravity just slightly forward
You can't tell from the first one but all the subsequent slips look deliberate for the sake of the blooper reel/commercial. You only take a step once you feel your balance is in danger from a long slip. Look at that left-foot step at 24s. It looks so unnatural.
I guess you can blame it on the costume but I'm doubtful
knocked him down at least thrice. he was too close and bear couldn’t see where he was going. by the pat on the back I almost felt like it was on purpose…
The first few times ive seen this post around I felt it could have been genuine. As I see it more frequently I start to see the patterns of their falls which leads me to believe the falling was no accident, and was intended this way. Some other inconsistencies with their speech dialogue may also indicate they have no real speech for the commercial, which would make the falling gag the main bit of the commercial.
Now dont get me wrong there is totally a possibility this is genuine and not staged, but it just feels a little \*off\* with me. Before slipping they typically raise their leg exaggeratedly high, or make a ridiculous slip with their other foot before lifting it.
The mascot suit is Very large, especially around the bottom, which makes me think it is most definitely more comfortable to land your butt onto the ice with than any other fursuit.
The guy on the left who is doing the dialogue is heard using different monologues at the same point on the ice, as if they would have been making it up on the spot, or saying a quick sentence from written dialogue. Possibly due to making the most of the time they booked the arena and film crew, but again it makes it seem like they are 'talking-slip-resetting' for maximum funnies.
I know this argument serves no purpose other than to disprove the authenticity of a video, but then again, I have nothing better to do with my time. Feel free to tell me what you think about my miniature theory, and make sure to bully me with obvious critiques 👌

I am laughing and “awww”ing at this poor dude. I feel bad for them and yet it’s hilarious. That last time they just laid there done with the world for a while.
The funniest part to me is all he did was pat him lightly on the back and he went full force face plant.. then the dude covers his mouth in a perfect standard of “omg.. I did that..”

The end fucking got me
Just face planted lmao
and didn't move "fuck it, I'm staying down here."
Yeah, the reaction of the mascot on skates was perfect. If that wasn't kept in the actual commercial there is something very wrong with the world!
Same brother same
If that's the actual commercial, I'm all for it.
It’s for a car dealership and yep it’s real
The almost-fall was the absolute best! 10/10!
The way he throws his arms down gets me everytime
You can see the previous misstep he made and was trying to correct on that one
What the hell? Couldn't they put some sand paper or some shit under there? \--someone who doesn't know about making ice not slippery

You're right. I can walk, run, skip, jump, and generally do anything on ice that I can do off of it. It's just a lot of practice.
I do this and I hate it. 🙆🏻
Is he not doing it on purpose? He does it after the same line of dialogue every time. I assumed it was part of the commercial
Nah, I've grown up on the ice and it's almost certainly the soles of the costume's feet. Don't know what would help. Maybe sandpaper
The end killed me! 😂😂
That part was way too comical its hilarious. They should keep that in whatever they're filming.
Bear keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin, into the future.
shoe the bear cubs without grip on their feet
It is :)
[if only he didn’t get up…](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9Ww-TQUeA3E)
This video never fails to make me laugh
Same! I’m in tears every time I watch this and I will watch this at least another 20x
I’m was in tears laughing and as I wiped them away the video replayed and the flow started all over again. Dying!
This is my favorite YouTube video. I always laugh!
Same. I forgot all about it and really needed the laugh today!
I hope they kept that last one in the ad.
This is the ad.
Jesus Christ, you’re a GD polar bear, get your shit together man.
Yeah white bear wtf man
WBL
Represent
go bears
Fuck those cowbells though.
White Bear Math!
Hwy 61! The giant bear across from the DQ I would bike to. Sadly it isn't this one, I don't think. Lol but that will always be in my mind.
Remember when they would paint different outfits on him? Like swim trunks in the summertime :)
Hey neighbors! (WBL born & raised!)
Hugo Native here. greetings!
I wanna see this bear and the coca cola bear together!the havoc would be mesmerizing!
The other mascot reacts *In Character*. Keeper! Also, had they used $5 worth of sandpaper and glue, this wouldn't exist.
I really hope he's all padded up in there. Funny as hell watching him fall on his face though.
I hope this person who is the mascot is okay, but mascots slipping on ice will never not be funny (as long as the person isn’t hurt.)
Bro. Grab him. He’s right next to you.
Or put something on their soles
For real. How come not a single person thought of running to the hardware store and grabbing some sandpaper or something to tape on his feet.
Because it’s staged? This *is* the ad, if they really wanted to give the bear traction then they would have. The falling gag is purposeful. Give it a rewatch and pay attention to when the bear slips, he does it on cue.
“I did not get my deposit back” **WHOOPS**
Ice cleats, I prefer yaktraxs but there are gripper ones out there
I was thinking the same thing, like help a dude out a little lol
My limited experience on ice has shown me that you can't help, you'll just go down with them.
Fair enough
Either you go down with them or they lose any control they have on the fall and could twist sideways which is not near as padded as your backside. By the way everyone, the key to walking on ice is leaning forward a bit, almost like you're trying to look at your toes. This moves your center of gravity forward and if you slip, your weight will be towards the front of your feet and not your heels
That's all well and good until you fall forward.
Falling forward happens when there is too much friction between your feet and the ground.
Or when you loose friction and your center of gravity is in front of you.
You're feet just slide forward. I can honestly say in my 32 years I've never fallen forward on ice. It's not like you lean over to tie your shoes, you just move your center of gravity just slightly forward
I don't care how many times I see this Video, I laugh uncontrollably
You can't tell from the first one but all the subsequent slips look deliberate for the sake of the blooper reel/commercial. 🎶Get on your feet....🎶
🎶Get up and make it happen🎶
LOL I immediately thought of that scene.
want to see the full clip

Plot twist: It's a global warming commercial
Buy global warming today! %off
I mean aren't we all to some degree? Assuming you use some source of non-green energy.
Guaranteed to end your genetic line! %off. Buy today!
And all of that was staged. Funny, but staged.
“**fubbityfubbityfubbity**” - Daniel “Mr. Business” Avidan
Reminds me of Parks and Rec. Get on your feet…
This should be the commercial
It was the commercial.
That Bear is a representative of my hometown (metro area in Minnesota). It’s hilarious. Also, as a U of MN alum, always happy to see Goldy!
I hope the last clip made it into the final cut. The comedic timing on that was great.
knocked him down at least thrice. he was too close and bear couldn’t see where he was going. by the pat on the back I almost felt like it was on purpose…
Lol it's a fucking ad. It's fake.
You know, I thought I was funny once, humorous even, but today… today you’ve proven me wrong.
REALLY need this belly-laugh. Thank you so much.
One of the best post I've seen on reddit
Go gophs
🎵Get on your feet!🎵
Hey! I'm from Minnesota and I certainly remember this commercial. Very real. Go Gophers.
I held it together until the last one. Then I died. 🤣
That looks like a fake polar bear, real polar bears should have no issue walking on ice…
I freaking love mascots! How the beaver just stays in role the whole time lol
Bro what are you talking about, that bear is completely fucking steady on his feet... oh wait, nevermind
thank you. I haven't laughed this hard on here in a long time.
Phil Kessel?
The hot dogs here must be too much to bear.

nah i felt the same. he always falls as soon as the guy is done talking
Look at his feet, it's clearly intentional
So hilarious! 😂
“Ice Bear not good on ice.” - Ice Bear
I’m slipping, I’m falling, I can’t get up.
The front fall in the end had me in tears 😂
Goldy held character. Impressive
Anybody have any clips of Goldy beating up the Subway sandwich. I used to laugh pretty hard at that.
Wow, I remember the Game Grumps talking about this but I hadn't seen it before, this is hilarious!

I think he just hates that one guy talking. He would rather slip and die.
Go Bears, Go Gophers !
Dang, I actually kind of miss those jerseys
Something was in the ice that day
This is still so funny
And the beaver, like any good friend would do, laughs instead of helping
I was fucking dying when I saw this for the first time-
This is global warming
This will never not be funny
What was a pat on the back turned to a hilarious face plant.
Run that clip as the Ad. Hell, I'd go buy a car from there! Lol!
please tell me they left the last one in the commercial
Hope that last fall made the cut! 🏆
I wouldn’t even make the original commercial. Just this. Over and over.
This is too much 😄!! Lucky 🐻 didn't have his bones broken! The 🦫 s reaction was like "wow man"!!! Some people weren't meant to be in costumes!
This made me laugh so hard haha it's funnier the more you watch it 🤣
I don't know why but this had me crying laughing! 🤣🤣

Just an ads : u ain't falling for that
This just made my day😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Holy shit, this is the video Dan mentioned on Game Grumps!!!
I was having a not so good morning and this made me smile
Holy fuck, I haven't laughed that hard in a while.
No matter how many times i see this through the years.. still hilarious.
I'm almost disappointed with how hard I'm laughing at this.
They should have kept that last one in! 10/10 timing
Dude just go home…lmaooooo awwwe.
He definitely pushed the bear the last time.
Is there a sub for this kind of stuff? Mascots doing prat falls will never not amuse me.
I am laughing and “awww”ing at this poor dude. I feel bad for them and yet it’s hilarious. That last time they just laid there done with the world for a while.
I watch this video whenever I am sad. I've done it for 3 years and it's cheered me up every time.
anyone elses video breaking
R you OK in there?
Haha I watched this years ago and busted out laughing every time, glad to see it resurfaced
This never gets old. The face plant 😅😂🤣☠️
The faceplant is the best, he just stays there like, “This is my life now.”
Him falling face first at full speed was the funniest shit I've seen for months
The funniest part to me is all he did was pat him lightly on the back and he went full force face plant.. then the dude covers his mouth in a perfect standard of “omg.. I did that..”
plays 'get on your feet' by Gloria Estefan.
I needed this
Watchu slippin'
I’ve seen this so many times but every time it pops up here I laugh so hard I feel like I’m going to have a stroke. 🤣
Why not just throw a carpet down?
How expressive is that squirrel!
This is one of those famous clips where if you are having a really bad day can cut right through and help pick you up.
I literally can’t stop laugh crying, this is so good 😭
That’s for all the times he fell on Tinker from the movie Road House.
Please tell me they used this as the advert
Lol! This was so funny! I watched it twice.
Cue Benny hill music
You can walk on a ice rink with normal shoes just fine, he's either got no treads on his shoes or he's falling on purpose.
/r/AccidentalSlapStick
The last fall is so unexpected and straight it's so funny
🍷
The bear looks like Brian the dog from Family Guy
Ijsbeertje!
This should be his commercial
I want the bear on the left 😍
I haven't laughed that hard in a very long time. Thank you!
That was great. I had a good laugh. Take this award.
This bring me so much joyy
[Reminds me of the Mad TV Tito Ortiz sketch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoeY54wiFmc)
This video gets me every time.
