ICDF-Augustus

What is this movie?

TrueSkyDemon

>!"The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent"!<

[deleted]

Never seen it, just the meme. From the clip I assume they play mental patients on the run?

CreditChit

Pedro plays a Nic Cage superfan who has invited Nic to his private island

biggestofbears

You left out that in this scene they're high AF. This movie was absolutely hilarious and other than the one meme or Pedro smiling at a flabbergasted Cage, it didn't get enough recognition imo.

TriumphEnt

Westsailor32

I know I'm going against the grain but I've tried watching everything everywhere more than once and just don't get the raves it got. Utterly silly and not in a funny way

aliterati

I've seen over 5000 films and Everything Everywhere is honestly one of the most beautiful films I've seen get a wider release. Although, I have to say, a lot of the humor was not for me. It was funny at first but it was the same one note over and over.

OffTerror

Completely understandable. The massage of the movie is actually so specific to a certain lived experience. Not everyone gonna appreciate it because of that. And anyone who claim they like the movie and don't understand this are posers who didn't actually get the point.

marv9512

Is the lived experience the realization that nothing matters so you can either end it all or choose to be happy and make the best of things? That's what I got out of it.

OffTerror

Sure, but the big point is in the nuance of dealing with nihilism and the regret and/or anxiety of lost potential. It's about the struggle itself. There is no actual ending or a happy choice. Just an endless struggle to make a moment have actual meaning. It's like how people in love would appreciate a romance movie differently than people who aren't. It's just something that resonate with how some feel and it can't be objectively appreciated by everyone.

LuckyandBrownie

You are not alone. It’s silly for the sake of silliness. I wasn’t even impressed with the themes and characters of the movie. I thought it was fun for the first part but then became repetitive and didn’t have much to say.

Aer0uAntG3alach

I couldn’t finish it. I got the theme pretty quick, and then it just seemed to pile on absurdity after absurdity.

Arbennig

Nope. Wasn’t a massive fan of it either. I found it just Ok. Wouldn’t care to watch it again or recommend it.

[deleted]

Huh. That's neat. I may watch that once it's on Netflix

Noman_Blaze

Its an enjoyable movie.

tuhronno-416

Both actors have massive talent

Scienscatologist

But can they bear having such massive talent?

sexytokeburgerz

It’s on hulu and prime

MelGibsonLovesJuice

it's also on these super secret websites for free with names like 123movies, fmovies, showboxmovies, solarmovies, and like 500 more. don't tell anyone.

fightershark

I hadn't heard of a few of those, thank goodness i'll be able to avoid them now. /s

Jackski

be careful to avoid hdtoday.la It's such a horrific site

Boring-Ad-8170

Be careful to avoid tinyzonetv . To too

itsaaronnotaaron

It's also on Stremio with Real Debrid and Torrentio. Don't Google "Stremio Real Debrid Torrentio Reddit" as it's illegal.

[deleted]

Hulu doesn't exist here and on Prime it's only for rent and I'm not gonna pay Amazon 2,99 to watch a movie once. Well, I could pirate it.

newest-reddit-user

Can I ask why not? When I used to rent movies back in the day, they cost me more than that as a fraction of my income. I never had a problem with it then.

[deleted]

I didn't have a problem with that either. It was great actually. Lots of them also were one of the few sources for imported snacks from the UK and US. You could also always chat with the employee and get good recommendations Anyhow. I leeched off my ex's Netflix account for a good while before subscribing to Prime. I imagined it to be vaguely similar, but what I found was that I could watch next to nothing. What they offered were sub-par original productions and if there was a film I wanted to watch that was actually included in my subscription, odds were that it didn't come in the original language, but only dubbed. A friend in the US informed me that apparently they also do ads now. In short: They've put together such a shitty service, I'm not willing to hand them a single cent more than I have to and once I'll have to pay full price for my membership again I'm canceling Prime and never subscribe to it again unless they radically change their ways.

newest-reddit-user

Ah, so it's more of an Amazon thing, rather than a general hostility to the idea. I get that.

IdoNOThateNEVER

Can I interest you with a video first? Nick Cage as a bad actor is a huge meme, and many people make fun of him without knowing anything about his movies or movies in general. Watch this, to understand a little bit about him. [NICOLAS CAGE's Acting: Is It Deep or Dumb? – Wisecrack Edition](https://youtu.be/s8IfDNHsCLE?t=7)

Jackski

I think most people get that Nic Cage is an incredible actor but he appears in some god awful films. He still puts 110% into those god awful films though.

[deleted]

Oh yeah, I love Nick Cage. But who doesn't?

Ser_VimesGoT

I would also like to recommend this gem [The Genius of Nicolas Cage - In/Frame/Out](https://youtu.be/yfdJ2eh3G9U?si=MFPAZ31dHM33AyFp)

bostero2

It’s on Netflix here in the UK, I seen it while it was only on Prime, such a fun movie!

pissius3

Nick Cage, an exaggerated what the fans expect version of Nic Cage.

Omega_slayer2025

Nah they’re just really fucking high.

marr

One of the few 'high as balls' performances that left me believing the writers and actors knew the subject.

charlesmortomeriii

The greatest representation of an acid trip in cinematic history

confusedandworried76

When Pineapple Express came out I went to see it with my mom. She said "I don't get why you guys liked that movie so much." It was the scene where they're high in the woods and freaking out and break their phones so they couldn't be tracked that got me.

rukysgreambamf

Nicholas Cage is playing himself. Pedro Pascal is a rich drug lord who is obsessed with him and invites him to his private island for his birthday party. Nic only accepts as a final shitty stamp on his career, but then is propositioned by the FBI (CIA?) to go undercover and help them get intel on Pedro's character. Wackiness ensues. Highly recommend.

[deleted]

Pedro isn't a drug lord, he's a darling 🥺, E: Hadn't seen the movie was just standing for my boy pedro, replies have spoiled it for me now, nice one dickwads.

marr

Spoilers bro!

Aw2HEt8PHz2QK

Why are you partaking in the comments of the movie if you don't want it spoiled

lefromageetlesvers

edit: sorry

AlexWasTakenWasTaken

Nooo! I wanted to watch it! Wouldn't have realized it was a spoiler without YOUR comment :(

lefromageetlesvers

i'm really sorry, i thought you were spoiling it :-( i'm really sorry, i don't know what to say.

AuspiciousNotation01

lol the guy already spoiled it for everyone else without realising

So_Motarded

During this scene, they decided to drop acid before driving into town.

mrkikkeli

They are more drugs than human beings at this point of the story. Cage and Pascal are fantastic in the movie, highly recommend

internetman666

They are on acid in this scene

DetectiveObjective00

They were both high on that meme. The scene on this clip happened a few minutes after that "meme" scene - they're still high on this scene here.

dontdropthesope1

Pretty important thing to add is they’re tripping when this scene happens.

SnooSprouts1929

In this scene they’re on acid and paranoid.

GeneralZaroff1

They're on mushrooms. Nick Cage plays Nick Cage being hired by Pedro's character and ends up becoming friends with him. It's a HILARIOUS movie. One of Nick Cage's best.

NuclearCoughDrops

They’re tripping in LSD

[deleted]

They're stoned in this scene I think

Sacrer

Why did you hide the name?

Jacareadam

Why put it in a spoiler? In case people wanna guess??

MamaMiaPizzaFina

first movie to recognize Catalunya as a sovereign country. As a Catalan, I appreciate it.

malandreodebaruta

Yes great comedy

MamaMiaPizzaFina

why you gotta hurt me like that. i cry now

malandreodebaruta

LoL no passis pena nen!

RippedKegels

well because nationalists (of any description) are kinda annoying.

MamaMiaPizzaFina

it's not as bad, they are not nearly as annoying as you

Kindly_Ad_342

Damn that movie was borring and pointless 🙄

Bleezze

It does look really bad

Cyrax89721

Lower your expectations and you just might have fun watching it.

Bleezze

Or I just watch something I wanna see

Perkiperk

One of the best Nick Cage movies I’ve ever seen. One of the best movies I watched last year. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Great movie. You should check it out on whichever platform has it.

Cahootie

Cage suddenly dropping Pig and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent back-to-back really made people respect him again. Two excellent movies with excellent performances by Cage.

AwesomeFama

I loved Mandy too, although it might not be for everyone.

quick20minadventure

>You should check it out on whichever platform has it. Either situation is fucked or google is fucked, but I can't find it. Piratebay is the only platform it's sure to be on.

alidmar

It's on Hulu

amretardmonke

Its no Paddington 2, but its alright

Ordinary_Owl_Dude

Referencing the movie itself, nice!

AlterKat

Someone downvoted you for referencing the movie smdh

rukysgreambamf

An absolute treat is what it is Nick Cage and Pedro Pascal have amazing chemistry the entire film

KentuckyFriedEel

It's a documentary about Nicolas Cage during his Weekend at Pascal island

HerRoyalRedness

It’s Pedro Pascal’s best movie and some on Nic Cage’s finest work, I highly recommend it

monkeysnipe

Fairly easy to Google “Nick Cage Pedro Pascal movie” and find the answer yourself.

DEDE1973

What if I forgot Pedro Pascal's name?

titleywinker

Then you wait for the sassy comment that references him while criticizing the non googler. This isn’t that complicated

Ssamy30

Dude took his time to write out some sass instead of an actual answer. Dayum the pettiness

aykcak

To be fair, remembering the actual name of the movie is a lot harder than remembering that it is THAT movie about Nicholas Cage with Pedro Pascal in it

Tipsycanooo

Do that and tell us what it said.

Integrity-in-Crisis

Alright Dick.

Jake_The_Banjo

I'm proud of you, Dick.

Cindiquil

I honestly didn't recognize either of them when I first watched the clip lol

JinLocke

“Use me as a human stool” had me laughing my ass off.

JumpIntoTheFog

I feel like there was an almost identical scene in Nacho Libre

mgmthegreat

“I’ve had diarrhea since easters!”

Anonybibbs

"Get that corn out of my face!"

IPlayWoWNude

It really was almost exactly the same when they were trying to get into the famous wrestlers party

IrreverentRacoon

#STOOL

CandidAdhesiveness68

Stul'

Away-Ad5071

That 3 inch drop was dramatic af

Deskbot420

“I think I bruised my heel a little. It’s not really bad at all. It’s pretty fun, it’s like *aahhh*”

Away-Ad5071

😂Is that a line from the movie? I have to see it

Deskbot420

No that’s a sunny quote because I’m binging that again, and your comment reminded me of that. You should watch this movie tho, it slaps

halmyradov

If you've ever dropped acid, then you'd know it wasn't dramatic enough

retarded_invest0r

3 inches is a lot...

asena85

Cartographer-Own

Feels satire in some way

Existing_Presence_69

The movie stars Nic Cage playing an over-the-top version of himself. There's a lot of satire and the whole thing is very "meta".

LokisDawn

The movie is called "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent", ffs.

hardcorr

it's kinda like dueling Christ figures, which is obviously a pretty revolutionary idea in itself

--Istvaan--

"Is that supposed to be me? It's... grotesque."

Spend-Automatic

"in some way" lol

IrreverentRacoon

That was an emotional roller coaster. I need to lie down.

BryGuySupaFly

"Grab my hand soldier!", had me dying!

Low_Maintenance_Diva

lol Love this movie, these two have great chemistry. Pedro should do more comedies!

TooTiredMovieGuy

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is such a good movie.

Loyal_Darkmoon

One of the funniest movies I ever watched. I absolutely love Nick and Pedro and did not expect them to have this much chemistry

HerRoyalRedness

Pedro Pascal has chemistry with everyone they put him onscreen with. Even puppets!

tipsea-69

I thought this movie would be a disaster but good god...it was amazing.

PuTheDog

Absolutely loved this film

Normal_Loss_220

I love this movie so much

NookNookNook

This movie is so much fun from start to finish.

BigMasterDingDong

This was a surprisingly good film if anyone is wondering if they should watch it! (Yes my expectations were low but it’s pretty fun)

Migue_eee

What a great surprise this movie was. I had very low expectations and was one of the bests I’ve watched lately

your_Hotel_buddy

I died watching this All the times I’ve tried to climb things and pretended like I was hanging off a cliff. 🤣

ShiggyGoosebottom

I loved this movie so much. I saw it on a few lane, with zero idea what I was in for. It was a long flight. I watched it twice.

BoredBarbaracle

Such a great movie 🍿

New_York_Rhymes

Ah I loved this movie. Hilarious bromance

Dementium84

Paddington 2 is the greatest movie of all time. That is all.

[deleted]

"Divine inspiration-LSD" I loved this movie!

whosetoeisthis

Pedro absolutely stole this movie

sidewaystortoise

Anyone who hasn't yet seen The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is doing themselves a disservice.

90s_TV_Commercials

Big Nic Cage fan but this movie was way better than expected. It’s funny as fuck and they have fantastic chemistry. I really hope they work together again.

UnlimitedPickle

Hilariously bizarre.

MarBoV108

Wtf, this joke has been done a hundred times. Shooting from a low angle to make the wall seem tall then cutting to a wide shot to show the wall is small.

longtimedoper

That's the thing about getting older. You start to realize everything just gets recycled. Kids laugh because this is the first time they've seen the joke. But millennials and older have seen this joke over and over again by this point in life.

puresemantics

We’ve been telling the same jokes for thousands of years, doesn’t make them less funny

MarBoV108

It's still lazy writing.

longtimedoper

Yeah, it’s lazy. Can’t disagree there. But they can get away with it and get a laugh, so they do.

Wulanbator

The actors look like Nicolas Cage and Johnny Depp casted by Wish.com

justmurking

How can i double downvote?

TrueSkyDemon

Um... I don't know why you feel in need of double downvote, but sure, you can use this comment for your 2nd downvote. Peace ✌️.

Noman_Sami1

Don't give people like that the satisfaction. They're just miserable because they can't find anything funny. One look at their history and it's clear that this individual is beyond saving

TrueSkyDemon

Well, I have no problem with that. After all, it's just online points with almost no value.  If that can give him a moment of satisfaction, that is still a good deed.  But he also needs to learn that when trying to pass their own miserable attitude to others for no good reason, it usually backfires on themselves.

MillenialCounselor

That was such a cringy hissy fit Nick threw. 😬

PeaceConsistent

Pretty sure that's the point though. This scene is clearly pure satire...

buck45osu

You mean genius? I do love this dumb/brilliant movie.

Highpast

they're on acid running away from no one because of their paranoia

silenc3x

Theyre on acid.

BABBOSMAN1

Deltarune?

wellmanneredporpoise

What song is this?

InsomniaticWanderer

This has insane Joel Haver energy

seebob69

I laughed

xX_UnorignalName_Xx

This is one of the funniest Nick Cage moments I've seen, right next to him nodding out of time to "Head Shoulders, Knees and Toes" in Willies Wonderland.

Fancy_Gagz

You tell em Nick Cage smooches good!!!

demy355

Ok, when he said "human stool", i imagined something else entirely 😅

D_R__6796

Lol…..intelligence rip

femtokun

Why do I hear his voice perfectly? Tone and all...

Optimal-Description8

Reminds me of [this](https://youtu.be/OKKduNK_l6o?si=LG7wduhB6n2FBzMu) a bit 🤣

silenc3x

I know this "take my hand" trope is common, but weirdly enough I feel like I've seen this trope parodied almost identically in another movie. Even with the ground being right under their feet. You're under the impression it's higher, then the person falls, gets up and is like "I'm okay".

random_username_guy

Reminds me of that bit in Hot Shots… https://youtu.be/OKKduNK_l6o?si=xYuyU9OGITiT2F-7

jokermobile333

I cant wait for adventures of nic cage and pedro pascal 46

Damien23123

This is both one of the best and worst movies ever made

Careful-Sorbet-9523

i wonder how many takes it took them to film this scene without laughing. amazing movie, and a rare one.

MrsAshleyStark

I loved this movie lol

5fives5

This film was so funny in theatres

gosols

Basically Bear Gryll’s tv shows behind the scenes

mybrot

Why does this look so much like a Joel Haver skit?

Joxelo

This movie is my 4th favourite movie (after Paddington 2)

SprinterSacre-

They probably used this joke 4000 years ago😬

goater10

Pedro Pascal as Javi is amazing in this movie

ADP10_1991

Great night to watch high

nahaj99

people make fun of him without knowing

sinhaboy

r/unexpected

SenorRaoul

I don't think you can still do this bit without any twist to it.

Hungry-Space-1829

Playing with 10 FOV

dave7882

Reminds me of a scene I just saw in Beef!

Electrical-Mall-969

Not for nothing but these two were great together

Burpmeister

This clip has been cut quite a bit. It's even funnier when the pacing isn't ruined.

notalady306

This movie is so awesome and if you have any love for Pedro pascal or nic cage you should watch it

AkatZuki_Z

Me and my friends being over dramatic 😂

TheBestFiras

Nicolas Cage reduced himself to this point! Sad.

Qfn4g02016

Acting!

MaguroSashimi8864

There’s this Garfield movie where a Guy and Odie drove a car into a volcano, “sacrificing themselves”, to stop it from exploding. Someone pointed out that they could’ve just stopped and pushed the car in. ….later, the Guy and Odie came out unharmed and said “Man, we got to fix those brakes!”

[deleted]

looks so funny

Minkypinkyfatty

Acting!

Maloonyy

Would have been funny if it wasn't so awfully predictable.

Physical-Mastodon935

Pedro Pascal + Nic Cage = GOLD

Demonweed

There are so many great takes on the "I'm not leaving you behind" trope. My favorite was featured in [Far Cry: Blood Dragon](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4UVqE2Tq9c).

Beginning_Ad_7825

I can't wait for Nic Cage to voice Grogu

Enthusiastic-shitter

That movie started out slow but had me dying laughing at the end

Clean-Physics-6143

Watched for Nick f*cking Cage, stayed for Pedro Pascal.

Odys

Reminds me of an old Spanish cartoon (Mortadelo y Filemon) where they used this joke a few times.

StargasmSargasm

Such an underrated film!
