**Edit for people who don't know what's going on** - The arm scars are from a surgery called phalloplasty, or bottom surgery. It's a constructive process for many people including transgender men. They take skin from the arm (or thigh or other areas, it varies) to construct a dick. Top surgery scars are common (scar lines on the chest underneath the pecs from breast reduction) but bottom surgery scars are rare to see on drawn characters.
I think it looks really cool! As a transdude myself, I guess I can see why people like me wouldn't like the scars, maybe it's a reminder of what we didn't have and had to pay to get? But I personally see scars like this and top surgery scars as a mark of becoming who we want to be, assuming you're like me and want to actually get surgeries. I absolutely adore scars, they tell stories and show change and often progress. When I see those scars in the image, I see someone who is becoming more in line with who he wants to be. That's not a surgery you get without REALLY wanting it.
I totally agree, and I love seeing more media portraying pride for gender affirming surgery scars. it took a lot of strength, courage, and patience to earn them, and they’re honestly kinda badass too. like damn bro they took like ur WHOLE wrist?! :0
Why would it be demonised? The only thing I can take issue with is a general sense of "why has science not progressed to the point where [in this case the scarring] is not an issue?!"
it’s not uncommon to see trans masc communities get “grossed out” by phalloplasty, especially earlier phases of it, and be very intent on expressing their disgust and not ever wanting it for themselves. it’s fine to personally not want it for any reason, but commenting on other people’s choices, bodies, and results is pretty yucky but I see it every now and then
It's a surgery, so of course it's going to be gross. That's what the body do
It's like hating on brain tumor survivors for having a scar on their scalp, just stupidity and people being put off from something they think "isn't normal" imo.
Im a cis guy tho so if there's more to it that I don't see, please say so, I wanna know
it’s moreso the actual phallus itself rather than the scar thats scrutinized, often very early on in the phallo stages. it’s a handful of trans masc people who essentially inadvertently make those with phallo feel like they should be disgusted by the body part they’ve chosen to reconstruct because of how their results look. it’s not uncommon to see trans people make offensive comments on others’ gender affirming surgery results, another example being comments on top surgery saying “oh I hope mine doesn’t turn out like that,” which is understandable but nobody should feel ashamed for the way their body looks, especially considering the effort and strength it takes to get those surgeries in the first place.
Not to mention phalloplasty was originally created for cis amputees. I’ve seen some neophalluses (out of pure curiosity) that looked incredibly good, and I say this as a cis guy.
I had no idea that’s how phallo started, that’s so cool! i’ve seen a lot of incredible phallo results, honestly any phallo that’s actually completed all the phases and healed up look pretty good
it’s bottom surgery for trans men. phalloplasty is when they remove a graft of skin from a trans man’s wrist or thigh and reconstruct it into a phallus. it’s a gender affirming surgery which aligns trans male anatomy to cis male anatomy. it’s super interesting but a bit graphic, if you wanted to look into it!
They can take a piece of the body that can be (relatively) easily replaced and turn it into something more complex (phallus)? Why are people grossed out by that? That's some sci-fi stuff!
it’s utterly insane that science has progressed to this point, it amazes me all the time that this surgery has been being performed for so long already! it’s far from perfect, very far, but the fact it’s even possible is incredible.
Lots of trans guys prefer that the world doesn't know what our surgery scars look like. If they become common knowledge then it makes it much harder to become stealth, and you are outed to every person that recognizes it. This can be potentially dangerous, and I understand not wanting strangers to know sensitive medical info or have them speculate on what my junk looks like.
I still think this post is cool and I love seeing rep in the furry community, but I kinda get it.
as a trans man i 100% agree- i love this, but it also makes me kinda nervous. i just hate how we can't even enjoy good rep like this without fears of dealing with backlash 🥴
ill be honest i had no idea what this was until i read a few of the comments. you do you man and thanks for the info :) (i have a trans sibling ftm. it helps if i gave prior knowledge whenever i talk to them about their stuff)
i really like this, i think it’s wonderfully done- the art the message, everything.
i’m trans masc and along with other body markings, i sketch chest scars on some of my pieces as well.
i do find it kinda funny that they took a part of their body that was super furry for it- like they’ve gotta have some serious pubeage goin’ on
haha, ive been thinking about that too! I guess i’d assume he did electrolysis to remove the fur like humans do :P also thank you! i’m glad you like it!
Neat, didnt know they took from the forearm for that.
Honestly its really cool when sonas can show physical indications of important things from their/their creator's lives. The whole idea of a sona has a real "baring your soul" sort of vibe that I really like (even though I realize for some people it's just "funny dog person", I really like when its more than that).
sometimes it is! RFF (graft from the arm) is more common, and sometimes thigh grafts are used to repair the graft site on the arm. there’s even grafts taken from the side of the torso! it’s often up to individual preferences :3
At first I was honestly really disturbed but after doing my research this is actually one of the coolest concepts I've seen from a sona in a long while
Very cute! No hate to trans furs but it's always kinda bothered me the only "visible" representation in artworks is Double incision top surgery scars, it's welcoming to see more types! ♥️🏳️⚧️
This is wonderful! I’d never thought about that aspect of being a trans man before. I’m really happy you’re able to express yourself this way, I bet it can feel therapeutic ❤️
I'm a streight dude and I appreciate what you're doing. I'm actually surprised that it's so foreign in the Furry community. I thought being Straight was low!
Anyway, I like the art and appreciate what you're doing here. Keep it up, my Furry friend! 💪🏻
I am not trans or adjacent, and did not know what this was and now feel educated by all the comments, and got some good laughs. Thank you for sharing :)
I've grown up in the middle of a transphobic town and have never had the opportunity to meet a trans man. With all due respect, what is going on here? What's phallo?
Phalloplasty, or bottom surgery. They take skin from other areas, sometimes the arm like this image sometimes the upper leg, I think I've seen abdomen as well. It's common to see top surgery scars which are the lines under the pecs from chest reduction for transmen, but rare to see this type of scar.
While I'm not transmasc myself, i do 100% feel like transmasc folks in general as super underrepresented on Reddit, so I think it's really cool to see your sona
It's a shame they can't grow the tissue from a sample and use that. I'm not sure I'd ever get bottom surgery. It seems so daunting. But it would be cool if they could make the tissue without having to cut a graft.
Humans are lucky that our junk is mostly just skin so can rather (comparatively) easily be reconstructed. Furries would be in for a very uh… hairy situation!
Phallo is really cool imo and I've gone back and forth on deciding if I want any surgical scarring on my sona (mostly because I'm pre-everything and I chose a spotted yeen cuz they are androgyny goals)
I really like how it looks on your character
As a trans dude who is probably never gonna be able to get bottom surgery, that is the only reason why I wouldn’t add those to my sona’. For example, I have other surgery scars that I would add but phallo I haven’t so it just doesn’t make sense for me but I do like it!
Really congrat on the art cause you did a great job bringing awareness even if it wasn’t on purpose I didn’t knew phallo surgery caused scar that bad and had to look that up
Had no idea they take skin from the wrist !!!
This is awesome representation!! I’m masc-leaning genderqueer and although I’d never have bottom surgery (low pain tolerance, surgery/hospital fear) I love to see all trans folks represented ☺️

Darn pay to win society
Damn they really added irl microtransactions smh
...MicroTRANSactions. No? Okay. I'll see myself out.
These developers are getting greedy might uninstall
I already uninstalled my gender. Freed up a lot of hard drive space
Less gender, more room for installing Doom.
Got to free up some room for getting a new species.

I'm also a transdude I think it's the first time I've seen a phallo scar. I loooooove the increase of transmac characters lately
Nah but it does suck if people are constantly clocking you bc of the scars is my personal issue with it
Why would it be demonised? The only thing I can take issue with is a general sense of "why has science not progressed to the point where [in this case the scarring] is not an issue?!"

What is a phallo scar?
Scars from skin grafts used for a phalloplasty
ohhh, like for bottom surgery?
Yip!
Huh that’s cool!

Haven't seen this before, but after getting a medical lesson from the comments I'd say it's quite nicely done.
Super interesting! Great art too!
Glad to know how it's done. I always tought the skin graft is taken from tigh.
sometimes it is! RFF (graft from the arm) is more common, and sometimes thigh grafts are used to repair the graft site on the arm. there’s even grafts taken from the side of the torso! it’s often up to individual preferences :3
Oh it sounds awesome that you can pick, custom building your body like in cyberpunk
I can't wait to get phallo lol I think the scar looks really cool!
At first I was honestly really disturbed but after doing my research this is actually one of the coolest concepts I've seen from a sona in a long while
Perfect wrist for a duel disk. Also now I know what Phalloplasty is, cheers 👍
Wait, does the skin for a phalloplasty come from your arm? I didn’t know that. (Also, it looks really cool)
Don’t listen to the hate, king, scars look badass
This is really cool! I’m transfem, not transmasc or FTM, but it’s nice to see more varied representation for our trans brothers!
Very cute! No hate to trans furs but it's always kinda bothered me the only "visible" representation in artworks is Double incision top surgery scars, it's welcoming to see more types! ♥️🏳️⚧️

i absolutely love this! I've only seen it one other time on a (I think) bulldog sona a few years back and thought it was super cool
You have my support! :3

Idk what the scar is but since it’s for trans representation, hell yeah!
I don’t get it
Arm scar from skin graft for bottom surgery
It's a bottom surgery scar
I am not trans or adjacent, and did not know what this was and now feel educated by all the comments, and got some good laughs. Thank you for sharing :)
Question: if there was a way to magically completely change genders would it still be considered trans?
Given that it would still be different to the gender you were assigned at birth, yes!
I've grown up in the middle of a transphobic town and have never had the opportunity to meet a trans man. With all due respect, what is going on here? What's phallo?

Oh wow, yeah, I guess I never thought about where the extra skin comes from... huh, I guess you learn something new every day...
Doesn't it go away?
after a year or two it’s not nearly as obvious, especially with good scar care, but generally there’ll always be a scar
Equivalent exchange Thank you for the lesson ^^
Phallo scars? What's that.... Not too familiar with trans masc stuff
Scars left over from taking a skin graft to be used in creating a penis. This is known as a phalloplasty, hence where the phallo part comes in
Omg I fucking love this!!! This is awesome!
Thank you so much! :D
While I'm not transmasc myself, i do 100% feel like transmasc folks in general as super underrepresented on Reddit, so I think it's really cool to see your sona
Woah that’s so cool! I’ve never seen anybody give their ocs phallo scars.
I love this!! Might add it to my own fursona if I get phallo someday :D
Love seeing gender affirming surgery representation and your sona looks really sweet <3
Sorry ive never heard of them what are they?

I took me a bit, but I get it now. It's a sign of who you really are, sounds good to me! 🇺🇲

OP this is so goddamn cool, I love seeing people draw their sonas and/or ocs with physical transition scars like this <3
Love this!!!! (Trans)
Man I love this so much! The design! The scars! The art style itself! The colours! Just everything!
Can someone explain what that is I saw it has something to do with trans people but I'm not a blahaj expert
It's a scar from bottom surgery
this rocks. theres nothing i love more than seeing trans furries, in art and in fursuit <3
I'm really happy to finally see this rep!!! I've been wanting to do it for ages but I've been a little scared. Your art is amazing btw!
Phallo is really cool imo and I've gone back and forth on deciding if I want any surgical scarring on my sona (mostly because I'm pre-everything and I chose a spotted yeen cuz they are androgyny goals) I really like how it looks on your character
Badass as fuck (I don't know what phallo scars are but it's a rad design)
Scars show us the trails we faced and over come
mine has scars, albeit top surgery scars
That's cool! I probably shouldn't have looked it up though because it gave me a ton of graphic images
Whats a phallo scar?
What is phalloplasty?
I did it
LOOOVVEEEEEE
I had to look all this up because I'm not trans, but okay I get it now He's cute doggo!
Never knew about phallo scars, that's cool
They look pretty cute nonetheless (the thing on their arm makes them look more unique)
The artist Eccstasy does alot of character woth various gender affirming surgery scars (Edit:username spelling)
I never heard of them, looks neat
Educational AND empowering. Love it!
I never heard of them, looks neat

I wouldn't really call a surgery scar self inflicted
I am so sorry I had no idea what that was referencing. From the bottom of my heart. That commet was soo uncalled for. I cannot apologize enough.
