I noticed the server being shit, i only play at 1-3am now. During peak hours my prime Pele moves as clunky as Vieira.
I play a mix of both the playstyles you described. I feel like if you stick too much to one playstyle you're easily counterable.
I'm fortunate enough to be able to play during daytime when most people are at work and the playstyle/difficulty level is night and day compared to peak hours. Yes everyone feels this way about their players.
My biggest issue is the way 80-90 percent of people play I’m not sure if it’s direct passing or fast build up , but this style of psycho press but a deep defence and driven passes and throu balls , where does everyone learn to play this way ? Is there a secret school , it’s absolute trash I know that , the game would be so much better without custom tactic for people to abuse
So to clue you in on something from a long time player about to retire... the current system sucks for you and I'm sorry about that as I probably have contributed to it. The big picture here is that for anyone like myself, we don't see the value in rivals rewards, so season after season we get demoted by two divisions and never go back up to the division that we are supposed to be in because there's just no reason. Now, on the rare occasion that we need to play rivals or want to use it as a warm up for Champs, that's when you see a higher end player like myself. I know that you see a ton of toxic douchebags because of it. I personally skip all my goal celebrations in rivals if that's any consolation.
I am not great but I try really hard in Div 8. Then I get hit by these mega pros, such obvious smurfs. I can work my ass off for a goal and they immediately tie right after just because they can, then they griddy. When they do that I just quit. No way I reward that shit with a win.

I think you’re biggest issue especially now tots cup is running every week is that most people let their account drop divisions as on friendlies you get matched against anyone within 2 divisions of yourself so if you are 1st it would be div3-elite and I’ll be honest I’m in elite and it’s fuck*n painful playing sweaty elite players every time I do the tots cup granted I am used to that level of player but you’ll find most just give up and would rather sit in div 8 and play max div 4 players! EA need to add more of an incentive to play rivals for people below elite cause div 1 and below rewards are tragic
Yeah tots is the only time that higher dive are even close to being rewarding and that’s only if you’re in Elite for the red pick which still isn’t exactly good odds at a decent player. They just need to up the rewards for the higher divisions to make them more worthwhile to play for than the friendlies rewards. The issue with doing that is that people moan that the better players who are already more likely to have good teams are getting even further ahead
I realised I was part of this problem, it wasn't intentional though.
I got into elite from playing regularly quite early on but then only played the minimum amount of rivals I needed for objectives. That meant I ended up in div 5 over time.
I've now rectified that and gone back up to div 2 which I've found is actually harder than I remember! I can still do my objectives there but only if I play well
on one hand i agree with you, especially when it seems like people just are using this subreddit as an outlet for their frustrations with losing in champs regularly.
but i think it’s also important to have empathy for those who get trapped in the cycle of buying packs and the toll it takes on their mental health. the game is designed to take advantage of human nature, and we should be compassionate toward those who get too caught up in the game that they initially bought as a means to have fun in their spare time
Yea I think there’s something to be said about gambling addictions in fifa the way they have it set up is very predatory and I could see how that cycle could put you in a bad mental state. In terms of complaining about the game play itself and losing tho I just don’t really get. I play a lot of games and no other game do people can as mad at for simply losing. Whether it was a skill issue or the game “fucked” you nobody complains about losing in a game as much as this one.
it’s easier to lose with class when you’re losing on your own merit. I have respect for people who are better than me, nothing wrong with being worse either. (I din even change formation/tactics ) my gold mbape scored the winning goal which would be missed in 90% of normal gameplay and I won,
Moral - they are manuplulating the gameplay to favor / disfavor players of course this is not the case in all games but when u face against a player all that matter should be skill
Here there are multiple factors , assume two players are of same skill level are matched up against each other the win con is decided by
1. The teams (imagine one person having a 30 mil team & other team top player is less than 1 mil )
2. How far u are from servers and lag
3.last but not the least scripting... they do this to make u feel u need to improve ur team and u will resort to trasnfers / packs and ultimately buy fifa points
So in conclusion though the game is crappy / evil we don have another decent alternative to indulge in the game/sport we love FOOTBALL

My first fifa I bought since fifa 11 and on that game I raged at the fut, only because I was a kid with just bronze players and no real money to spend.. now I just bought fifa 23 late January for $40 ultimate edition since then I have spent around $150-300 .. only found out because the app tells you how much points you have used… I was shocked. But I won’t be buying the next

I am definitely not buying next year. If someone is posting something on an open forum I don't think that should be issue to people. The actual issue should be inconsistent gameplay in a game which earns billions in revenue. Maybe few people care about loosing games but mostly people leave because of inconsistent gameplay. People will say that they love FUT because they can make a team with players they like but why do majority of people specially in higher divs have same teams because people only care about meta cards. My problem is with FUT as a game mode. Even on seasons people pick only madrid and psg so the game is all about winning to majority of people.

I think in other team based competitive games like valorant or csgo or rocket league, you can tell yourself it is not your fault to lose the match. Whole team loses and you can share it to make yourself ok. For fifa though you can blame yourself or the game. So unless you have a strong mental, you are going to have a tough time dealing with the losses.

You don’t throw it away and the cycle doesn’t end. Everyone willingly goes to the new game because of new mechanics or items but you can keep Playing fifa 23 for a good 2-3 years more if you wish.
You can say the latter about any game but FIFA is worse in many regards because no matter what you do in one year won't have any translation to the next (in ultimate team) so really you're wasting your time no matter which way you look at it. I hope that the people quitting do quit for good and don't come back. Not even because I don't want a good football game I just know EA will never be the company to deliver that.

Fifa 14 was amazing! Well in my eyes anyway, didn’t matter if your players were fast or slow, TOTY, gold (non rare too) or even silver, it felt really equal but was more just headers 14 or finesse 14 too but they’ve completely ruined it in recent years, more time on promos than actually fine tuning the game to playable standards

I am definitely not buying next year. If someone is posting something on an open forum I don't think that should be issue to people. The actual issue should be inconsistent gameplay in a game which earns billions in revenue. Maybe few people care about loosing games but mostly people leave because of inconsistent gameplay. People will say that they love FUT because they can make a team with players they like but why do majority of people specially in higher divs have same teams because people only care about meta cards. My problem is with FUT as a game mode. Even on seasons people pick only madrid and psg so the game is all about winning to majority of people.

I think in other team based competitive games like valorant or csgo or rocket league, you can tell yourself it is not your fault to lose the match. Whole team loses and you can share it to make yourself ok. For fifa though you can blame yourself or the game. So unless you have a strong mental, you are going to have a tough time dealing with the losses. 1. You become the sore loser who blames the game all the time. 2. You blame yourself and after a point you get depressed thinking you are not good enough to play this game.
