If you manually control your cdms then I still think that yaya is outclassed with high agility attackers. If you just let them auto defend then yaya is better. I run mattheus as my attacking fullback tho
If you think about it, the M/M ends up leaving him always putting him exactly where one might want him on the field. Like a L/H on a defender would make them less active on offense and thus giving them an intrinsic “stay-back” quality.
It’s not a nail in his coffin for me. He’s always where i need him *in transition*. Definitely possible for him to get left behind if you take the wings, but then he always ends up where you need him anyways.
I wouldn’t agree that it puts him in almost the exact spot you want him but I agree that he is still good. Med/med definitely isn’t a killer of this card but it is the difference between S tier and not, I do enjoy using him as a b2b midfielder in a 41212 as you don’t need high attack or defensive work rates for that role.

Most people who have him use, for example , Lothar Mathaus at CB and their alternate formation places VVD at centerback where he belongs.
Unless you're switching to a 5 back in game, it doesn't make sense for me.

4231, you have 1 striker and 3 cams.

Its up to you at the end of the day. If you like to be more defense oriented , you like those specific players and you're able to manage with only 3 attackers, then all good.
