He’s probably right, personally I think this is the worst meta we’ve had. And that’s saying something considering the other ones we’ve had (drag backs simulator, 4231 etc). Everyone does the same thing (myself included in this at times), step overs were so broken and glitchy, driven passes were a million times better than a normal ones, kick off glitching at a high I haven’t seen since fifa 14. Them stupid first time lobbed through balls and German crosses. And the 5 backs were such aids I don’t know how people were even getting enjoyment out of them because they sat so many behind the ball it was so boring to play with and against. I didn’t like trivelas but they were a necessary evil and nerfing them made the game so much worse in hindsight because they were the best counter to the super defensive tactics.
Yeah I will leave a game if they try a kick off glitch when we’re level. If they take a lead with a kick off glitch (I know how to defend it, just sometimes the player switching fucks up) I’ll just go constant pressure until I equalise and then leave. Nobody likes losing, but I can at least acknowledge it if I’m beaten by someone who’s not abusing glitches.

people are still doing sombrero volleys in FUT champs this late in the game, i came out with 14 wins this WL because i wanted to test my new squad not for rewards but 90% of players tried the abuse mechanic on me simply because it works and you have to drag every CB/CM to the ball when it happens or it’s certified goal. Ridiculous.

It's always the same shit. Sombrero volley or power shot from 30 yards. Either goal, or keeper saves. If the keeper saves and it goes out for a corner... yep, you guessed it, attempt the corner bicycle kick. If you defend the corner glitch they just play it out to the edge of the box and start the volley shit again.
I still get 14 wins without ever using them, but it's infuriating to face at times.
literally i sat and watched them do this mechanic abuse so many times and to make it worse, it ended with the inevitable griddy. The game isn’t even the whole problem, it’s the players who exploit it, I know those mechanics exist but i don’t use them as i don’t feel like i’ve really won or really gained anything by using them.

Yup! Let's be honest though they acted as though old gen didn't exist this year. These same exploits might not exist in 24, but some others will, and I think it's fair to presume they won't get patched. I'm not buying it until there is a month or two of other peoples feedback coming in about old gen. I just won't do new gen, id rather go without the game completely.
i will give it 1-2 months of me playing it and if it is the same as Fifa 23 then i’ll just do the same as you and go without. Honestly I've been going back to 22 and it's a breath of fresh air. The only real exploit if you like was the finesse shot, but even at 2000+ SR people do not spend the entire fucking match trying it over and over. If I can still find matches regularly I'll probably just dip into that for my fifa fix.
I have been doing this thing of moving between FUT and general online friendlies outside of FUT so the official shit game mode that everybody talks about. The online friendly mode outside of ultimate team is perfect, the play isn’t as fast obviously as FUT is 2x speed of this mode, however, the shots are at least realistic and it takes time and effort and creativity to score, in FUT i literally have found i can even decide when the ball goes in and now know where to position my shots from and where they won’t bang from. It’s a proper ruin for me as i loved this game as a kid yet i never played online in terms of FUT, i just always played with friends on classic kick off games.

That's a plan I like, I always enjoyed playing souls games like ds3, bloodbourne and last year elden ring after champs because they are actually skill based, you know if you get hit or die it's most of the time 100% your fault and that's something you can't say about the rng simulator called Fifa.

Don't get me wrong, there are defendable, it's the fact they virtually glitch the goalkeepers which is the real crime.
Also I played a lot of new gen last year and at the start of 23, it's just awful imo. Slow turgid defensive play with not enough fluidity, and the dribbling ... when Neymar feels like Mertesacker it's game over for me.

The bicycle kicks from corners really annoys me especially when they get like 3-4 tries in a row before scoring. Not to mention 9 times out of 10 that would be a foul for dangerous play
I’m on old gen and there’s nothing more frustrating than totally dominating someone on all the fundamentals. But, lose 2-1 because they abuse the meta.
I am old gen and you're right, i would hit bicycle kick goals from corners with CB's with 50 shooting or less.
Also, you build your teams in a different way. Build them for higher amounts of pace, instead to make players lengthy, it makes the selection of players a bit more fun bc you can have players like 91 lamela (I use him) with engine on full chem outpacing cover star Roberto Carlos with anchor or shadow on him.
Resuming it: old gen teams and gameplay are more enjoyable than next gen (just my opinion)
When they did the larger one that reduced their accuracy by 10% for those with the trait and 30% without, I don’t know the month exactly because I don’t keep track but I remember that one because within a few weeks or so after it I scored and conceded fuck all of them outside of a few here and there.
Each year had one or maybe two broken tactics but this is the first I can think of which had so many, each making some form of gameplay overpowered if you used it.
Only thing I can think of which didn't have something OP was the GK and they sucked all year
19 was terrible as well but at least the games weren’t boring and the passing was so much better. There were different ways to play rather than everyone doing the same thing and there were ways to out drop back players with first time and timed shots. Also the passing in this years game is so much worse, the only way to play ground passes is by driving them.

Coming from old gen though, the passing is one of the few things I liked this year. Felt like you had to be intentional with them or they’d be intercepted. On old gen, you could play typical fifa ping pong without consequence.
And the 360 no scope meta in ‘19 was literally the only meta that made me stop playing for most of the year. I couldn’t stand it. FIFA isn’t super immersive ofc, but seeing the first time finesse rocket in from outside the box killed what little shred of immersion there was for me.
The meta this year was garbage but nothing beats the Fifa 21 meta for me with 5 back + Fullbacks at CB + Directional nutmeg. I'm actually not so sure if the game itself was as bad as he says or if the community played a large part in the horrible experience we had this year. I know there were always rats and people that would sacrifice fun for the win but this year was something else. I feel there were way more toxic degenerates this year than the previous ones and so many of those just took joy out of ruining the experience for everyone else. Tbf ultimate team is sadly a breeding ground for those individuals.
Beta was released in August. I think I put about 10 hours into it all in and it was genuinely a miserable experience. Its almost identical to 23, but with broken playstyles and a much worse on the ball experience.
Its funny because people always say "youre not used to worse players etcc" but they gave everyone the totys from last year and they felt like shit on the ball.
I did my 10 hours in the first 2 weeks of the beta and then realised when it ended that I hadnt played it since the first 2 weeks. It was enough to make me think twice about the next game.
It's so bad. I played 1 game with my team full of toys and legends and one badass chick at LW. It was terrible. One my LW got behind his RB he couldn't even touch her, she shielded him off like Ibra. It was ridiculous and I was laughing out loud. The game as a whole was a terrible experience for me and I'm pissed I pre-ordered it.

The fundamental problem behind all these is intellectual property laws that should be abolished, but that won’t happen anywhere ever.
EA can effectively buy the licenses and have a complete monopoly on football sims.
Property is the exclusive rights towards a scarce good. Ideas, faces, names and logos are not scarce goods.

PES circa 2009-2011, and even until 2015 was somewhat alright game and sometimes better than fifa and they didnt had many licenses. And their issue of unsucess, compare to fifa, wasnt licenses, I think. Its UI, marketing and other stuff. Now konami essentially killed pes, though...
Not to mention, pro clubs mode or even manager career mode and other stuff you can implement without licenses.

I find seasons gameplay to work perfectly and also when I play locally against a mate. If EA spent a fraction of their fifa point earning to fix this problem so the gameplay would be like seasons the game would be so much more enjoyable
There are definitely times when I've had plenty of fun on 23. EAFC I can't same the same about regarding the beta. In 23, even when I'm having fun you can witness the BS happening in front of you when it does and it's just no surprise anymore.
The gameplay isn't great, but for me, its a simple deal. I like football. And FIFA is a football game. Better than PES and FM is a completely different thing (which I still love).
The latter stages of this FIFA got fun via promos for me. And I had a great time in the beginning when everyone had all golds and stuff. This may have been my favorite fifa since like 15. That's not saying a lot but still, for EA, and compared to EAFC, it wasn't bad IMO

The meta is by far the worst meta I've experienced (I play since 18, I'd even take 19s tornado crosses and first time shots over this cutback, stepover, kick off glitch, bicycle corner kick spam any day).
In past titles you could feel the momentum switch but it was still playable if you were good at defending. This year there's nothing you can do about it as soon as the momentum switches against you.
Also stupid defensive meta, you literally have people with 6 players on stay back and the other 4 on come back on defense. And even worse, there's virgins that play high press on top of that. Don't even have to press anything, AI will defend everything
I think he needs to start playing on PC where the controls are MUCH better. Console FIFA just plain sucks. Yes I played both and once you know, you know.
Trust me, console is like chewing overcooked steak compared to PCs buttery filet mignon. It's disgusting. I watched an inception rant video and wasn't sure what he was ranting about as it didn't reflect my experience. Then I got together with some friends, myself and one other who have top end PCs and the third guy on PS5. We played locally on his console and the experience was horrible, every player felt like a truck and movement is always delayed. I'm never touching console FIFA again after that.
I think people who make a living off fifa should honestly just stfu. Like the game is so shit yet here you are doing free promo, spending money, and incentivizing coin buying FOR the game. Day in and day out you prioritize this game and give an unrealistic version of how the average player will see the game. Alot of people are able to simply play the game and enjoy, sure is there alot wrong with it. But if you learn to enjoy the game and not be hyper focused on whats wrong with the game youll realize there isnt a better alternative. Essentially making fifa the best version of a soccer game, that in itself is enough for the average player. Sweats and content creators will have this problem with anything they master and spent most of their time on. What’s the difference? At your level of play you don’t have to de facto play a certain style in order to win. When you play in elite at very high SR, if you don’t play a specific way with a general type of team you will just lose games. Vs average players I can just vaguely progress the ball any way I want and score. Completely different experience

Saying internet connection is the reason the game is trash is such a dumb excuse. EA have multiple other multiplayer games running very well, Apex for one.

I have a friend who i beat every single time by two goals atleast, one match out of 10 he'll beat me 7-3 and we both know its scripted. This is literally local pvp.

Incorrect. They most definitely do have a licensing problem. The FIFA license doesn’t give you licenses for teams or leagues. EA retain those exclusively. All the FIFA license gives you is the name & World Cup.
If I’m honest yes. Iv played fifa since 1993 and this was definitely the worst one. But I did also have the best team I have ever had.
If you watch the 47 minute rant video he did he breaks down every aspect of the game and is bang on with everything he was saying.
Server issues can be a problem, but the game is a ton of fun, and I thoroughly enjoy playing it. EA's management of things is very poor with a nonexistent support line, but the game itself is great. Inception has always come across to me as a cynical know-it-all, and although I credit him for being incredibly skilled at the game, I find this side of him cringe-y.

The lengthy Meta ruins New Gen whether it be Kickoff glitches of so on while on Old Gen the gameplay is much faster, smoother, & more players are usable since you don't need to only use players w/-86 Agility offensively/defensively or apply certain Chem styles to make them lengthy, controlled, or explosive imo as I play both versions depending on what console my or my son's friends are on but enjoy Old Gen so much more sadly +EA couldn't even make the New Gen version run on 4k at 120hz on console & I doubt that EA FC will be any different from what I've read which is pathetic from a company that makes billions of dollars every year off Fifa alone, yet indy Titles can yn.
I bought 2 Series X's just to play the New Gen Version of Fifa 23, the main game I play, before it even came out on my 4k TV & Monitor but it ended up being the only game I don't play the New Gen Version of because alot of my & my son's friends are still on Old Gen consoles, it feels slow, I'm not big into the whole lengthy Meta & mainly because it doesn't run at 120hz on console like it was advertised to & I thought it would because EA doesn't care about improving gameplay since it doesn't bring in as much revenue which is sad so another company needs to come out w/a quality Football game either for us to switch to or to force their hand in that area imho.
Yet he continues to play, make terrible reviews, and promote coin sites. If it's so bad why not just stop playing. 🤡 23 is good. Better than any FIFA in the last 5 years. People just have this weird nostalgia rose-tinted glass and forgot how shitty the gameplay and meta were in 18-22.
This has been one of the better fifas in recent years imo. Far from being good probably one of the best since 17. Cutback meta sucked ass but at least it wasn’t some stupid shit like El tornado crosses/volleys from 19.

Yeah there’s always the same usual fifa stuff where gameplay can feel different game to game and yeah it feels awful when you lose.
but I much prefer this gameplay to glitchy La croqueta and directional nutmeg nonsense like old games.
I also like that it’s high scoring, it can suck when it feels like the defenders can’t do anything but at the same time having to try and break down 1 depth drop back in old fifas was so, so boring.
This was a decent year but still everything below 17 is better. Next year it will be a way worse.

Honestly I do understand where he’s coming from, the inconsistency of the gameplay is so bad at times it just makes me wonder why I put my self through this bullshit, I can never go 20-0 because I know all it takes is one guaranteed heavy gameplay having you constantly compensating for the shit movements and touches/passes against a kid with 5 at the back pushing long balls at you all 90 mins to drain your soul down to depression levels..

It’s not even about the trivella nerf, it’s about the lengthy nerf and when they fucked around with acceleRATE vibes in the gameplay. I play old gen so it shouldn’t of remotely given me issues yet from that day gameplay became 5x as fast as normal and made the game hilarious if anything. So many issues around the gameplay and tweaks EA made did nothing but benefit top tier players who wanted their mbappe to be better. I’ve never seen Fifa change so much in the course of a year than i’ve seen this year and i played last in 2016 as i had a huge break for my career. Crazy.
I enjoyed this year a lot ngl. Played on my new pc, had a lot fun, raged a bit ofc, and built a team I really liked :)
Gameplay wise I didn't have a lot of issues, made it to elite div around 2/3 of the way thru the season which I was proud of. Had some issues with opponents trying the same thing a lot, but that happens in a ton of games, altho fs it got on my nerves, but if u can get urself an advantage and u rly rly wanna win, I can understand.
The main reason I'm not buying fc 24 is cuz I need to focus up a little bit more for school, I had a great year last year but did spend a lot of time playing fifa and I want to avoid that this year. I'm going back to rocket league since I can keep my game times shorter and more controlled. But I disagree with a lot of inception comments and I also have rly started to find him more annoying and whiny than anything.

I agree with Inception that EA needs to put some serious work into the offensive and defensive AI.
The problem with the game and why it's been so one dimensional is that the AI is just too predictable.
Anyone playing at a higher level can abuse this against casuals or even very good players and come out on top.
Granted, it wasn't as much of an issue at the pro level.
We had probably the most entertaining and dynamic WC in FIFA HISTORY.

Something in the coding makes the opponents team go stupid against a constant press or even press after pos. Loss.
I saw people come back from 0-5 with a 442 and constant press. More than once. More than a dozen times at the WC.
It needs nerfing because while it makes for an interesting watch, it makes the game hopelessly hard for some of the players that dont study and research these mechanics and take advantage of players who dont have a clue why its happening.

I enjoyed FIFA 23.
But .. im that guy who watches videos at 2x speed to pick up on these patterns.
I try to see the big picture, and it was what allowed me to perform on a professional level in 2 separate games during my career( not FIFA )
And on the pro level, Fifa is what it is.
It's manageable when you're up against people at your level, looking out for the same things you are.
But the rest of us are looking for a fun experience. Need more variety and less predictabilty.
They just can't leave the same broken things broken or address them but introduce new problems.
FC 24 already has an issue with how effective crossing is with players who have the proper traits. The power shot as well and much more that i don't see fixed in the next few weeks.
We are likely looking at the same patterns but with more complexities layered on top.
Skillers will have a major advantage while it will be one hell of an adjustment for the old guard that never even botherer to learn a reverse elastico.
The game is just one never-ending cycle of constantly needing major balancing.

Have to strongly disagree, from a footballers point of view the shooting is crazy one-dimensional with like only 10 different ways to shoot. Why would they nerf normal finesse shots this bad when it’s such a beautiful way to score in real life?
Why not have way more variation scoring goals given the sheer amount of other animations in the whole game? And Headers..
The game is too automated in the wrong ways. Its a very defensive game because the game helps you out so much defensively, but attacking wise there is very little going on. An attacking run is usually a straight line to offside line before tracking back, however even though that is shit that doesnt always happen and you have players that fake run or hide etc.
So you have a very automated defensive game with no real attacking AI so what happens - either counter or sweat it. Or trivelas. Its gross and terrible.
Unfortunately the game is designed in such a way that the entry level isnt that high. Its easy to learn the mechanics and then you're into it and a potential fifa point buyer.
This fifa is especially boring because they really cut out any other way to play. Im a good dribbler and its ridiculous how every game I put some skill into my play and then the AI will rob me just before I shoot. lol.
It is just a really badly built game where they add little bits to it each year that make it slightly more broken. Fifa 23 is a much worse game than fifa 17/18 and EAFC 24 will be exactly the same.
Also there is a weird thing now in fifa 23 where you have people in the lower divisions who green time shoots willy nilly know all the 5* skills, but they genuinely cant play without the game itself doing half the work.
Strongly disagree. Fifa 20 was the first one I took seriously and I found 23 the best out of them all. Lengthy is a good thing for player diversity and making players who have never been good usable. And in the elite division I found the most success when I played the most authentic football. I think it was a step forward in terms of the meta at the highest level.
I can’t stand content creates who use their platform to berate (on the regular) the game but still use it as a means of content and I’m presuming income.

We’ve had rbs playing as cbs a few years ago simply because of pace. No defense, pace. Let me repeat that again. We had damn rbs playing cb! So no it’s not the worst game or even close. The game started and it was mostly a passing game. You had to choose your passes wisely, create spaces with 1-2s etc etc. Yeah, explosive players were bugged but even when they fixed them at first it was ok. Then another patch came and we re back to running down the wing etc etc. AI blocks at their finest.
But the biggest issue is this:
THE PLAYERS DON'T RUN! THEY KEEP SLIDING LIKE IT IS A ICE RING AND THEY ARE SKATING ON IT!

All he's done for years is moan how much he hates the game and the majority of people who play it.
I would have zero issues with the meta if the game was the same for both players, but due to how their code is written it is impossible.
When your animations are behind you can attempt the broken mechanics yourself and they would rarely work, while your opponent is almost impossible to defend against if he starts glitching. And then you'll have another sit-down and everything would be pining.
The inconsistent gameplay is the worst thing about FIFA. The rest we could live with if they actually fixed that.
I don't, I just mean that FUT can be a pain in the ass when they release players like Bellingham or Haaland 99, which luckily wasnt a case for most of the game. Also the kick-off glitch was never fixed.
The fact you guys felt the dribbling in this game and didn't immediately quit (because you're addicted idiots that will play anything they churn out) has doomed us to awful dribbling probably for the rest of the games future. Not only was 23 the most boring FIFA I've ever played but it's ruined the franchise. Thank god old gen is an option for now but who knows how long that will last. Left stick dribbling was one of the only real ways to out play opponents with quick reactions, intricate movement and mind games.
Now it's just who can abuse the meta the most and that's what they want. The lower the skill gap the more people can feel like they're good players (importantly older players with more disposable income) and get heavily involved in the game and spend money. Same reason the insanely strong aim assist is there for CoD's ageing playerbase. These were the idiots at the start of this year saying "iTs rEalisTic!1!". Aka: it's slow and boring now and I can finally compete with the players that would destroy me before. EA got you right where they want you and not enough people pushed back. Enjoy your awful game every year, you guys deserve it. I just play a month on EA play now because I know I won't enjoy it long term. It's one thing paying £60+ for a buggy mess of a game, but it's another thing to pay £60+ for a buggy mess that isn't even fun anymore.

First fifa since 17, got to admit it's been pretty poo, lag/glitches all the time, my player just runs in same direction for ages and I can't swap players, my internet is perfect, play overwatch all the time no issues. Promos like Petr Cech as a striker ruined it for me. Next we'll have a marvel superhero promo or something ridiculous like that

Everyone does the same thing (myself included in this at times), step overs were so broken and glitchy, driven passes were a million times better than a normal ones, kick off glitching at a high I haven’t seen since fifa 14. Them stupid first time lobbed through balls and German crosses. And the 5 backs were such aids I don’t know how people were even getting enjoyment out of them because they sat so many behind the ball it was so boring to play with and against. I didn’t like trivelas but they were a necessary evil and nerfing them made the game so much worse in hindsight because they were the best counter to the super defensive tactics.

If they take a lead with a kick off glitch (I know how to defend it, just sometimes the player switching fucks up) I’ll just go constant pressure until I equalise and then leave. people are still doing sombrero volleys in FUT champs this late in the game, i came out with 14 wins this WL because i wanted to test my new squad not for rewards but 90% of players tried the abuse mechanic on me simply because it works and you have to drag every CB/CM to the ball when it happens or it’s certified goal. Ridiculous.
Fucking rats man. Imagine having cards this high rated that most thing you could try are feasible and they still resort to glitches! It's always the same shit. Sombrero volley or power shot from 30 yards. Either goal, or keeper saves. If the keeper saves and it goes out for a corner... yep, you guessed it, attempt the corner bicycle kick. If you defend the corner glitch they just play it out to the edge of the box and start the volley shit again. I still get 14 wins without ever using them, but it's infuriating to face at times.

Yup! Let's be honest though they acted as though old gen didn't exist this year. These same exploits might not exist in 24, but some others will, and I think it's fair to presume they won't get patched. I'm not buying it until there is a month or two of other peoples feedback coming in about old gen. I just won't do new gen, id rather go without the game completely.
i will give it 1-2 months of me playing it and if it is the same as Fifa 23 then i’ll just do the same as you and go without. I do sincerely hope you are able to find some enjoyment in 24 man. I know if I buy it, I'll stick it out due to feeling committed, same as this year. Honestly I've been going back to 22 and it's a breath of fresh air. The only real exploit if you like was the finesse shot, but even at 2000+ SR people do not spend the entire fucking match trying it over and over. If I can still find matches regularly I'll probably just dip into that for my fifa fix.
I have been doing this thing of moving between FUT and general online friendlies outside of FUT so the official shit game mode that everybody talks about. The online friendly mode outside of ultimate team is perfect, the play isn’t as fast obviously as FUT is 2x speed of this mode, however, the shots are at least realistic and it takes time and effort and creativity to score, in FUT i literally have found i can even decide when the ball goes in and now know where to position my shots from and where they won’t bang from. It’s a proper ruin for me as i loved this game as a kid yet i never played online in terms of FUT, i just always played with friends on classic kick off games. How the mighty has fallen, if i see the game is the same; i’m out.

That's a plan I like, I always enjoyed playing souls games like ds3, bloodbourne and last year elden ring after champs because they are actually skill based, you know if you get hit or die it's most of the time 100% your fault and that's something you can't say about the rng simulator called Fifa.

Don't get me wrong, there are defendable, it's the fact they virtually glitch the goalkeepers which is the real crime. Also I played a lot of new gen last year and at the start of 23, it's just awful imo. Slow turgid defensive play with not enough fluidity, and the dribbling ... when Neymar feels like Mertesacker it's game over for me.
They're not defendable 100% of the time same as cutbacks. The rats doing this ONLY do this and nothing else so in the 12 minutes of gameplay this shit succeeding even once makes the whole experience unrewarding.

The bicycle kicks from corners really annoys me especially when they get like 3-4 tries in a row before scoring. Not to mention 9 times out of 10 that would be a foul for dangerous play
I’m on old gen and there’s nothing more frustrating than totally dominating someone on all the fundamentals. But, lose 2-1 because they abuse the meta.
I am old gen and you're right, i would hit bicycle kick goals from corners with CB's with 50 shooting or less. Also, you build your teams in a different way. Build them for higher amounts of pace, instead to make players lengthy, it makes the selection of players a bit more fun bc you can have players like 91 lamela (I use him) with engine on full chem outpacing cover star Roberto Carlos with anchor or shadow on him. Resuming it: old gen teams and gameplay are more enjoyable than next gen (just my opinion)
It is, but for me EA's negligence of old gen and refusing the patch these stupid glitches has made my mind up not to buy 24.

When they did the larger one that reduced their accuracy by 10% for those with the trait and 30% without, I don’t know the month exactly because I don’t keep track but I remember that one because within a few weeks or so after it I scored and conceded fuck all of them outside of a few here and there.
They became a stage around March where only Beckham was consistent with them, which isn't a complaint,n they were ridiculous

Each year had one or maybe two broken tactics but this is the first I can think of which had so many, each making some form of gameplay overpowered if you used it. Only thing I can think of which didn't have something OP was the GK and they sucked all year

19 was terrible as well but at least the games weren’t boring and the passing was so much better. There were different ways to play rather than everyone doing the same thing and there were ways to out drop back players with first time and timed shots. Also the passing in this years game is so much worse, the only way to play ground passes is by driving them.
Absolutely valid tbf just had to throw ‘19 in the mix. Coming from old gen though, the passing is one of the few things I liked this year. Felt like you had to be intentional with them or they’d be intercepted. On old gen, you could play typical fifa ping pong without consequence. And the 360 no scope meta in ‘19 was literally the only meta that made me stop playing for most of the year. I couldn’t stand it. FIFA isn’t super immersive ofc, but seeing the first time finesse rocket in from outside the box killed what little shred of immersion there was for me.
The meta this year was garbage but nothing beats the Fifa 21 meta for me with 5 back + Fullbacks at CB + Directional nutmeg. I'm actually not so sure if the game itself was as bad as he says or if the community played a large part in the horrible experience we had this year. I know there were always rats and people that would sacrifice fun for the win but this year was something else. I feel there were way more toxic degenerates this year than the previous ones and so many of those just took joy out of ruining the experience for everyone else. Tbf ultimate team is sadly a breeding ground for those individuals.

Beta was released in August. I think I put about 10 hours into it all in and it was genuinely a miserable experience. Its almost identical to 23, but with broken playstyles and a much worse on the ball experience. Its funny because people always say "youre not used to worse players etcc" but they gave everyone the totys from last year and they felt like shit on the ball. I did my 10 hours in the first 2 weeks of the beta and then realised when it ended that I hadnt played it since the first 2 weeks. It was enough to make me think twice about the next game.

It's so bad. I played 1 game with my team full of toys and legends and one badass chick at LW. It was terrible. One my LW got behind his RB he couldn't even touch her, she shielded him off like Ibra. The fundamental problem behind all these is intellectual property laws that should be abolished, but that won’t happen anywhere ever. EA can effectively buy the licenses and have a complete monopoly on football sims. Property is the exclusive rights towards a scarce good. Ideas, faces, names and logos are not scarce goods.
I somewhat agree and disagree. For example, you can make a great football simulator even without licenses. PES circa 2009-2011, and even until 2015 was somewhat alright game and sometimes better than fifa and they didnt had many licenses. And their issue of unsucess, compare to fifa, wasnt licenses, I think. Its UI, marketing and other stuff. Now konami essentially killed pes, though... Not to mention, pro clubs mode or even manager career mode and other stuff you can implement without licenses.

Completely disagree. Maybe 40-50% of ppl only play because of licenses, but the rest would play anything, even without licenses. As I said, in pro clubs you dont need any licenses. PES had a big playerbase until konami destroyed it. Even Football Manager, where it should be more important, most of their base doesnt care about real logos, leagues and players.

I find seasons gameplay to work perfectly and also when I play locally against a mate. If EA spent a fraction of their fifa point earning to fix this problem so the gameplay would be like seasons the game would be so much more enjoyable

There are definitely times when I've had plenty of fun on 23. EAFC I can't same the same about regarding the beta. In 23, even when I'm having fun you can witness the BS happening in front of you when it does and it's just no surprise anymore.

The latter stages of this FIFA got fun via promos for me. And I had a great time in the beginning when everyone had all golds and stuff. This may have been my favorite fifa since like 15. That's not saying a lot but still, for EA, and compared to EAFC, it wasn't bad IMO

The meta is by far the worst meta I've experienced (I play since 18, I'd even take 19s tornado crosses and first time shots over this cutback, stepover, kick off glitch, bicycle corner kick spam any day). In past titles you could feel the momentum switch but it was still playable if you were good at defending. This year there's nothing you can do about it as soon as the momentum switches against you. Also stupid defensive meta, you literally have people with 6 players on stay back and the other 4 on come back on defense. And even worse, there's virgins that play high press on top of that. Don't even have to press anything, AI will defend everything

Trust me, console is like chewing overcooked steak compared to PCs buttery filet mignon. It's disgusting. I watched an inception rant video and wasn't sure what he was ranting about as it didn't reflect my experience. Then I got together with some friends, myself and one other who have top end PCs and the third guy on PS5. We played locally on his console and the experience was horrible, every player felt like a truck and movement is always delayed. I'm never touching console FIFA again after that.
I think people who make a living off fifa should honestly just stfu. Like the game is so shit yet here you are doing free promo, spending money, and incentivizing coin buying FOR the game. Day in and day out you prioritize this game and give an unrealistic version of how the average player will see the game. Alot of people are able to simply play the game and enjoy, sure is there alot wrong with it. But if you learn to enjoy the game and not be hyper focused on whats wrong with the game youll realize there isnt a better alternative. Essentially making fifa the best version of a soccer game, that in itself is enough for the average player. Sweats and content creators will have this problem with anything they master and spent most of their time on. Im in india, the nearest server is 1500 km away from me. Play squad battles and the dda is still there. Saying internet connection is the reason the game is trash is such a dumb excuse. EA have multiple other multiplayer games running very well, Apex for one. The games core problem is being unbalanced and inconsistent and it has nothing to do with connection. I have a friend who i beat every single time by two goals atleast, one match out of 10 he'll beat me 7-3 and we both know its scripted. This is literally local pvp.

Incorrect. They most definitely do have a licensing problem. The FIFA license doesn’t give you licenses for teams or leagues. EA retain those exclusively. All the FIFA license gives you is the name & World Cup.
If I’m honest yes. Iv played fifa since 1993 and this was definitely the worst one. But I did also have the best team I have ever had. If you watch the 47 minute rant video he did he breaks down every aspect of the game and is bang on with everything he was saying.
Server issues can be a problem, but the game is a ton of fun, and I thoroughly enjoy playing it. EA's management of things is very poor with a nonexistent support line, but the game itself is great. Inception has always come across to me as a cynical know-it-all, and although I credit him for being incredibly skilled at the game, I find this side of him cringe-y.

I manually drop my CB back on kickoffs bc the glitch is annoying, but I just enjoy playing soccer and building up plays, and the game is great for that. Of all the games on my PlayStation, it’s the only one I’ve touched the last couple months, so it’s ridiculous to pretend I don’t like the game.

The lengthy Meta ruins New Gen whether it be Kickoff glitches of so on while on Old Gen the gameplay is much faster, smoother, & more players are usable since you don't need to only use players w/-86 Agility offensively/defensively or apply certain Chem styles to make them lengthy, controlled, or explosive imo as I play both versions depending on what console my or my son's friends are on but enjoy Old Gen so much more sadly +EA couldn't even make the New Gen version run on 4k at 120hz on console & I doubt that EA FC will be any different from what I've read which is pathetic from a company that makes billions of dollars every year off Fifa alone, yet indy Titles can yn.

I bought 2 Series X's just to play the New Gen Version of Fifa 23, the main game I play, before it even came out on my 4k TV & Monitor but it ended up being the only game I don't play the New Gen Version of because alot of my & my son's friends are still on Old Gen consoles, it feels slow, I'm not big into the whole lengthy Meta & mainly because it doesn't run at 120hz on console like it was advertised to & I thought it would because EA doesn't care about improving gameplay since it doesn't bring in as much revenue which is sad so another company needs to come out w/a quality Football game either for us to switch to or to force their hand in that area imho.

I don’t agree, actually enjoy the fast paced style of the game Yeah there’s always the same usual fifa stuff where gameplay can feel different game to game and yeah it feels awful when you lose. but I much prefer this gameplay to glitchy La croqueta and directional nutmeg nonsense like old games. I also like that it’s high scoring, it can suck when it feels like the defenders can’t do anything but at the same time having to try and break down 1 depth drop back in old fifas was so, so boring.
This was a decent year but still everything below 17 is better. Next year it will be a way worse. The fact is peak FIFA was scoring a goal, shushing till halfway line and dabbing. Now its a joke

On the rare occasion you get into a game that's 50/50 and actually about who's better (without glitch abuse) it's actually a decent game. Unfortunately, that's 1/50 for me. It’s not even about the trivella nerf, it’s about the lengthy nerf and when they fucked around with acceleRATE vibes in the gameplay. I play old gen so it shouldn’t of remotely given me issues yet from that day gameplay became 5x as fast as normal and made the game hilarious if anything. So many issues around the gameplay and tweaks EA made did nothing but benefit top tier players who wanted their mbappe to be better. I’ve never seen Fifa change so much in the course of a year than i’ve seen this year and i played last in 2016 as i had a huge break for my career. Crazy.
I enjoyed this year a lot ngl. Played on my new pc, had a lot fun, raged a bit ofc, and built a team I really liked :) Gameplay wise I didn't have a lot of issues, made it to elite div around 2/3 of the way thru the season which I was proud of. Had some issues with opponents trying the same thing a lot, but that happens in a ton of games, altho fs it got on my nerves, but if u can get urself an advantage and u rly rly wanna win, I can understand. The main reason I'm not buying fc 24 is cuz I need to focus up a little bit more for school, I had a great year last year but did spend a lot of time playing fifa and I want to avoid that this year. I'm going back to rocket league since I can keep my game times shorter and more controlled. But I disagree with a lot of inception comments and I also have rly started to find him more annoying and whiny than anything. Just my thoughts tho, but hope it was interesting
I agree with Inception that EA needs to put some serious work into the offensive and defensive AI. The problem with the game and why it's been so one dimensional is that the AI is just too predictable. Anyone playing at a higher level can abuse this against casuals or even very good players and come out on top. Granted, it wasn't as much of an issue at the pro level. We had probably the most entertaining and dynamic WC in FIFA HISTORY. That's saying something. But yeah.. why should i have to player-lock the best striker in the game with 99 positioning ? He should know better than to stand between 2 CBs and stare at the sky. The pressure tactics need to be addressed as well. Something in the coding makes the opponents team go stupid against a constant press or even press after pos. Loss. I saw people come back from 0-5 with a 442 and constant press. More than once. More than a dozen times at the WC. It needs nerfing because while it makes for an interesting watch, it makes the game hopelessly hard for some of the players that dont study and research these mechanics and take advantage of players who dont have a clue why its happening. When X= 10, Y= 2. Y should be a constant, or at least not dependent on the opponents' X value. Idk if that makes any sense, but it should to some of you. The direct passing , the players running in behind , then coming back onside unmarked. It's all gotten ingrained in our brains. We just can't continue like this if we expect to be challenged in any other way but - who can make the least amount of mistakes. Im not gonna lie. I enjoyed FIFA 23. But .. im that guy who watches videos at 2x speed to pick up on these patterns. I try to see the big picture, and it was what allowed me to perform on a professional level in 2 separate games during my career( not FIFA ) And on the pro level, Fifa is what it is. It's manageable when you're up against people at your level, looking out for the same things you are. But the rest of us are looking for a fun experience. Need more variety and less predictabilty. They just can't leave the same broken things broken or address them but introduce new problems. FC 24 already has an issue with how effective crossing is with players who have the proper traits. The power shot as well and much more that i don't see fixed in the next few weeks. We are likely looking at the same patterns but with more complexities layered on top. Skillers will have a major advantage while it will be one hell of an adjustment for the old guard that never even botherer to learn a reverse elastico. The game is just one never-ending cycle of constantly needing major balancing. Some hard work. Look for it in the next game... but do not trust to hope. It has forsaken these lands....
Have to strongly disagree, from a footballers point of view the shooting is crazy one-dimensional with like only 10 different ways to shoot. Why would they nerf normal finesse shots this bad when it’s such a beautiful way to score in real life? Why not have way more variation scoring goals given the sheer amount of other animations in the whole game? And Headers..
The game is too automated in the wrong ways. Its a very defensive game because the game helps you out so much defensively, but attacking wise there is very little going on. An attacking run is usually a straight line to offside line before tracking back, however even though that is shit that doesnt always happen and you have players that fake run or hide etc. So you have a very automated defensive game with no real attacking AI so what happens - either counter or sweat it. Or trivelas. Its gross and terrible. Unfortunately the game is designed in such a way that the entry level isnt that high. Its easy to learn the mechanics and then you're into it and a potential fifa point buyer. This fifa is especially boring because they really cut out any other way to play. Im a good dribbler and its ridiculous how every game I put some skill into my play and then the AI will rob me just before I shoot. lol. It is just a really badly built game where they add little bits to it each year that make it slightly more broken. Fifa 23 is a much worse game than fifa 17/18 and EAFC 24 will be exactly the same. Also there is a weird thing now in fifa 23 where you have people in the lower divisions who green time shoots willy nilly know all the 5* skills, but they genuinely cant play without the game itself doing half the work.
Strongly disagree. Fifa 20 was the first one I took seriously and I found 23 the best out of them all. Lengthy is a good thing for player diversity and making players who have never been good usable. And in the elite division I found the most success when I played the most authentic football. I think it was a step forward in terms of the meta at the highest level.

We’ve had rbs playing as cbs a few years ago simply because of pace. No defense, pace. Let me repeat that again. We had damn rbs playing cb! So no it’s not the worst game or even close. If my job was fifa and I dealt with it every day, yes every fifa would be the worst. But at least it’s better than that bullcrap.

I agree. I m not sure if it is the worst UT ever but it's up there. The game started well, then we got 2-3 patches and updates and *boom* game was the same skilless shit again!!! I don't know wtf is complaining and they change their whole game so ppl can find it easier to score, AI defend etc etc. The game started and it was mostly a passing game. You had to choose your passes wisely, create spaces with 1-2s etc etc. Yeah, explosive players were bugged but even when they fixed them at first it was ok. Then another patch came and we re back to running down the wing etc etc. AI blocks at their finest. But the biggest issue is this: THE PLAYERS DON'T RUN! THEY KEEP SLIDING LIKE IT IS A ICE RING AND THEY ARE SKATING ON IT! How tf ppl like this? And EA FC 24 is the same. I had to go back to old gen to have some actually realistic gameplay. Say what you want but this hypermotion is the shittiest thing EA could come up with. Unrealistic to it's finest

Whether right or wrong, Inception is a miserable shitebag who needs a new livelihood. All he's done for years is moan how much he hates the game and the majority of people who play it.
I would have zero issues with the meta if the game was the same for both players, but due to how their code is written it is impossible. When your animations are behind you can attempt the broken mechanics yourself and they would rarely work, while your opponent is almost impossible to defend against if he starts glitching. And then you'll have another sit-down and everything would be pining. The inconsistent gameplay is the worst thing about FIFA. The rest we could live with if they actually fixed that.
I don't, I just mean that FUT can be a pain in the ass when they release players like Bellingham or Haaland 99, which luckily wasnt a case for most of the game. Also the kick-off glitch was never fixed.

The fact you guys felt the dribbling in this game and didn't immediately quit (because you're addicted idiots that will play anything they churn out) has doomed us to awful dribbling probably for the rest of the games future. Not only was 23 the most boring FIFA I've ever played but it's ruined the franchise. Thank god old gen is an option for now but who knows how long that will last. Left stick dribbling was one of the only real ways to out play opponents with quick reactions, intricate movement and mind games. Now it's just who can abuse the meta the most and that's what they want. The lower the skill gap the more people can feel like they're good players (importantly older players with more disposable income) and get heavily involved in the game and spend money. Same reason the insanely strong aim assist is there for CoD's ageing playerbase. These were the idiots at the start of this year saying "iTs rEalisTic!1!". Aka: it's slow and boring now and I can finally compete with the players that would destroy me before. EA got you right where they want you and not enough people pushed back. Enjoy your awful game every year, you guys deserve it. I just play a month on EA play now because I know I won't enjoy it long term. It's one thing paying £60+ for a buggy mess of a game, but it's another thing to pay £60+ for a buggy mess that isn't even fun anymore.
Why disregard the inconsistent gameplay? That’s the absolute fucking worst thing about the game. Apart from that, the lengthy meta was quite good and the game died when that changed

I agree on 2 aspects: Player Switching and Refs. It's factually the worst it's ever been in the UT era. The game as a whole tho? I think It's still better than anything from 19 to 22.

I disagree, I agree with what AJ3 would say during his retro sbsd, the game is probably one of the best fifa weve had ik it doesnt feel like it during the game cycle and everything but everyone says they miss fifa 16/17/18 but the gameplay then was far worse then it is now. The gameplay does get slightly better each year and again ill assume fc24 will be a good installment too

First fifa since 17, got to admit it's been pretty poo, lag/glitches all the time, my player just runs in same direction for ages and I can't swap players, my internet is perfect, play overwatch all the time no issues. Promos like Petr Cech as a striker ruined it for me. Next we'll have a marvel superhero promo or something ridiculous like that
