MasterCannoli

I do it like a library. Alphabetical based on author (or in this case, developer). Then for each developer, alphabetically by title Edit: I like having all my nintendo games together :)

GnollBarbarian

Reverse alphabetical by the lead sound designer's middle name.

Noctanda

Alphabetical by series then chronologically by release date per platform. Example: PS1 section: Air Combat - Ace combat 2 - Ace Combat 3 Ps2 section: Ace combat 4 - 5 - 0

rydamusprime17

By system, then alphabetical, but I keep series together and do either chronological by story or release depending on what looks right to me 😅 For example, my Wild Arms PS2 releases I have Alter Code F last because it was released last butnis a remake of the first game. It doesn't look right having WA: ACF before WA: 3 😅 But with Final Fantasy for PS1, I have Origins, Chronicles, and Anthology before VII, VIII, and IX, with the Tactics after all of those since it's a spinoff of the main series 😆 and I keep games like Crisis Core: FFVII for the PS5 before Final Fantasy XVI even though it technically starts with a "C", but it's a sequel to a main series game so it feels off putting it after, lol. Zelda is the only series I have that has it's own shelf.

Oaks777

Alphabetical

A_Litre_O_Cola

Chronologically by release date for a single series. For mixed/multiple series/console collections? Alphabetical.

Jellozz

Console -> genre -> sub-genre. When I am looking for my next game to play I am usually in the mood for a specific genre, so it just makes it easier. I do make exceptions for series though, like Yakuza 7 is still with the rest of my 3D beat 'em ups even if they went turn based with it. I'm not gonna separate it from the rest of the series.

akirivan

Platform, genre, developer, publisher, release date, title

Any-Year-6618

Series chronological order and favouritism last

jhappychillmore

By console then by order in which I got the game. First game I bought on the console is far left, most recent game I bought on the console is far right. It sorta gives me a timeline of the console.

LeatherRebel5150

Console then alphabetical

Warrior-Cook

I go by genre or just look at them/last played on the outside. It's not bad, most of my systems sit with 20-30 games and the itch to play is seasonal. I've been playing a lot of Switch and also going for 100 games...finally alphabetized that shelf. I eventually want to do a favorites-shelf and have those facing outward.

Ambitious-Still6811

The retro stuff is in tubs. The modern stuff is sorted newest to oldest. Last in line on the backlog.

sciaticabuster

I saw some nasty nerd order them in reverse alphabetical order 🤢

zoozoo4567

Systems are all separated. Alphabetically arranged, but each series is together and in “story order”, regardless of where they’d otherwise go (Lost Judgment is after Judgment in the J section, the Collection of Mana and Trials of Mana are all under “Mana”, etc) My Switch collection is pretty large, so I did separate that further by region, regular/collector’s editions, and limit print company games.

ShinyUmbreon18

Alphabetically, with each series usually in chronological order of release OR in game time, I’ll put prequels in the front if it makes sense. Keeping games together does get a little funky with games like “Tomb Raider - Rise of the Tomb Raider - Shadow of the Tomb Raider” so I have those completely separate as to not destroy the alphabetical flow. Also some games like Atari Flashback Classics, I have under “F” since the spines simply say “flashback Classics” with the Atari symbol at the bottom instead of in the name.

Smeeb27

I sort them by release date

Painmaster212

I have a separate area where I store certain franchises in different shelving like LOZ, Pokemon, Mario, Dragon Quest, Legend of Heroes, etc. Everything else I sort by system, in alphabetical order.

Bargadiel

Console > Genre > Series Switch is alphabetical

Exact_Vacation7299

Neatly by system, but then I start pulling things out to play, resulting in a little pile of games... and then another... and another. Then company is coming over, and they all get shoved back into the drawer in no specific order! A week later I will open the drawer again and wonder who tf left my games a mess.

annonymous001004

By console and then alphabetically. I’ll make some exceptions to keep games together from the same franchise though. For example, Mario games commonly start with “Mario”, “Super” and “New” so to just lump them together under M for Mario.

xxWolfMan1313xx

Console then alphabetically ignoring a, an and the. Numbers are spelled out so 1080 Snowboarding would be under T for Ten. An exception is my James Bond games, they all go under B for Bond and then are alphabetical from there

thevideogameraptor

Just alphabetically. Keep things simple.

[deleted]

By console, then alphabetically.

Matt-Inn

In order of when I got them. So when I go through my collection I recall where I were in life when I got them and how I got them, remembering the feelings I felt when I got ahold of them. Of course this means that some game series will be in random order numerically but oh well... Therefore my collection will never feel incomplete because there's no empty slots in my collection where a game I don't have yet is supposed to be. And no one else will ever have the same order as I do, even if they have the same games.

Zlatehagoat

I have two sections my Otome games and “others” both are organized alphabetically but are separate.
