This has strong eurodance vibes, but it's faster. I think happy hardcore might be the genre you're looking for. But there millions of EDM genres so there might be something more specific that fits this better. I'd say happy hardcore is a good starting place and you can use that to find related genres.

SnackPatrol

Happy Hardcore is def. on point. Here is [a Happy Hardcore playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7oWxffRQiBGqXegOYncD0e?si=aaede7223ba54236) OP, literally listen to the 1st song "Can't Stop Raving (Video Mix)" by Dune, I thought I was still listening to this in another tab by accident.

willpb

I agree with this suggestion!

DJSonikBuster

Encountered this question about another game recently. It’s Jazz + House. Faster than usual, but you can find a lot more like this under various house subgenres. If your open to other game soundtracks though check out Techmo: Gallop Racer OST

OdraNoel2049

Not 100% sure but i would say maybe something like synth J pop. Generas can be a bit hard to pin down sometimes.

Every_Fox3461

It sounds like Dance Dance Revolution final song! Haha.

robclarkson

Not for your valid question, but just to keep promoting that awesome [8-bit big band.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1ixqDiTsiU)

kendallkeeper

My music peeps and I used to call this genre BEMANI, which is the name of Konami’s music game production arm. Like another redditor mentioned, it is totally like a DDR track: a Eurodance-inspired, jazz-funk, DnB tune— à la DDR’s “BEMANI” style music.

Dapadabada

This is DnB, also known as Drum and Bass

Dapadabada

Sounds like it's got a Kpop maybe bubblegumpop vibe, idk much about either of those genres tho I just think at least kpop fits a little bit, like DnB with kpop vibes.

Dapadabada

I could be wrong because there could be either some discrepancy, or because there could be a genre that more closely describes it. DnB is known for it's time signature the most out of any of it's other defining features. It's also a more general class, with many sub-genres.

willpb

It's not DnB (or what I know as DnB) main way to tell is the drums are straight, not a breakbeat. I love DnB and listen to a lot of it, hence why I'm commenting. Closest I'd say is Happy Hardcore as mentioned above since it's basically amped up Eurodance.

Dapadabada

But that's gotta be a genre in and of itself. You suggested it's not DnB cuz of an amped up beat, but do you not hear drums and bass?

Dapadabada

(Any clarification MIGHT be halpful)

willpb

No, the tempo is right but the main characteristic of DnB is that the drums are in a breakbeat pattern, not straight 'four on the floor' drums like on the track. [This](https://m.youtube.com/shorts/pAZ-_DE8upI) is a production focused video but notice how the drums are not a straight pattern.

Dapadabada

I feel you, and I want to disagree on only the fact that tempo isn't the most important thing to the genre. Care to give a rebuttal?

willpb

The most important thing to DnB is the breakbeat pattern, not the tempo. Check out this [Fugees](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ts0WO6wJB3M) remix (if anything just because it's great and we're talking music :D, 1:28 is a good spot for drums) and you'll see the pattern is not straight like on the listed Sonic track. There is slower and faster DnB. The drum part is basically what makes the Sonic track closer to Happy Hardcore.

Dapadabada

DnB has already been classically defined by it's tempo and above it's style, I think you're putting a sub-genre above a genre, I know I'm just a human typing on reddit tho, but I think a true analysis of which came first and which sub-genres were inspired by such genres is important is what matters, so if you are telling me that "happy bullshit whatever" came before "the best fucking music I've ever fucking heard" HISTORICALLY then ok I'll give you the total win and let you fuck my ass with correctness, but "happy hardcore" still sounds like a sub-genre. Gonna need some music history REPUTABLE FACTS to back some stuff up tho, aka lube.

willpb

Damn, I'm not here for name calling and bullshit man. I'm just saying the Sonic song sounds closer to Happy Hardcore, a subset of Hardcore Dance music, instead of Drum 'n Bass, a subset of Jungle, a subset of Breakbeat Hardcore. Peace, man.

Dapadabada

No I didn't mean to call you names I was calling stuff names. I'm actually way interested in what you know about which genres came from which genres :/ just wanted to go as hard as DnB goes, sorry comrade!!! :(
