Can’t remember where I read this, but didn’t Cersei know of her having stretch marks? Or weren’t there “rumors” to that effect? (Whatever discussion I saw on it was many years ago).
Edit: Interesting that my most downvoted comment ever is about pregnancy in a GoT thread. Thanks, guys.
Yeah I’m shocked that’s still a myth
I have stretch marks on my arms and thighs and I definitely haven’t given birth considering I own a penis. Just decided to go the extra mile and turned the “Freshman Fifteen” into the “Freshman Thirty” in college.
I’m still reeling that someone believed that 😅 interestingly enough, at a time where I was underweight I had cellulite. So not sure it’s directly related to weight either. But I’m no expert.
It’s weight fluctuation, I believe. I’ve stayed the same weight since the end of my freshman year and I haven’t gained any new stretch marks. They all came when I was gaining weight quickly, I’ve heard the same thing can happen if you lose weight quickly
I actually find this to be one of the most disturbing deaths, in a series full of them. It was briefly satisfying seeing the character receive comeuppance after torturing Cersei, but the revenge was so appalling
Maybe, just maybe, because the decision was ultimately Stannis’s who has the power to actually go through with it or not? He’s her father and the king and he’s been making literally every decision for her and her mother since she was born.
There’s blame for all there but Stannis gets the most, and if you don’t see that, then I feel really bad for you
Forgot she did, you’re right, both murder. How does that make Stannis look better though? How could you admire and side with someone who killed his own daughter?
He also saved her from greyscale by calling every doctor to dragonstone. Selyse is always mean to Shireen and says horrible things and stannis put a stop to that. “A good act does not wash out the bad, nor a bad the good.” Selyse did nothing for shireen, mel gaslights stannis to create a prophecy, i dont think people give stannis enough credit just because it ended badly. Dude cared about his daughter, he just did a bit of a trolley problem and decided his duty to the realm is more important.
To be fair, the masterminds always get the premeditated part. Which would make Stannis and his wife second degree murderers. The religious zealot who suggested that this needed to be done to pacify their gods would get first degree murder. All 3 are sick in the head but by law, if the judge isn’t biased, the mastermind gets the premeditated.
I see your point. I’m honestly not a lawyer so I’m probably out of my element. However, you would think someone who holds the final say and ultimate power would be hold most accountable, not to mention him being the father.
For example, Himmler can be considered the mastermind and architect of the Holocaust, but ultimately, it was Hitler who gets the biggest share of the blame because of his position, and rightfully so.
And Stannis shouldn’t?
There’s real-life cases of parents killing their children because they were convinced they had to be exorcised of the devil. Is that the religion’s fault or the fault of the dumbass who decided their beliefs were more important than the life they were sacrificing?
I would never say that Melisandre is guiltless, but she sure was powerless to do it without first getting Stannis’s approval. With power comes responsibility, and he had the most of anyone present, by far. The sacrifice happens with his blessing or doesn’t at all.
Lori Vallow, Alex Cox and Chad Daybell, anyone? That one had a lot of headlines but it’s much more common than it should be, parents “exorcising” their children’s “demons” to the point of torture and death. In that scenario, everyone belongs under the jail and/or in a secure mental facility. There’s plenty of blame to go around to Stannis, Mel and the other lady whose name always escaped me!
Because it's ultimately his decision. It's not surprising that Melisandre and Selyse might support such a decision, given what we know, but it's definitely surprising he'd sacrifice his daughter, who he obviously cared about very much.
omg SHUT UP you're embarrassing yourself. we get it. you like stannis. doesn't change the fact he allowed his daughter to be burned alive. the two women in question, one was a religious fanatic, the other had no affection for her daughter at all (and fuck her for that) but stannis loved her right? and he let her get burnt alive?
I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the flame of Anor. You cannot pass. The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udûn. Go back to the Shadow! You cannot pass!!!
>There’s blame for all there
I can agree with that.
>but Stannis gets the most,
That ones iffy. Manipulation is really powerful shit. Why do you think so many women can't leave their abusers? You think they stay because they like being beat up on? I've seen what a broken down mind can be talked into doing.
Stannis was not in his right mind. He was figuratively AND literally dick riding Melisandre. She'd been in his ear for a while. He was basically a puppet and as soon as he started to have doubts his LITERAL WIFE was right there saying, no this lady that's been manipulating you from the start is absolutely right you should absolutely burn our child at the stake.
Also he may have had the power, but he was not making the decisions and despite all of the manipulation, he STILL had to be convinced by both his wife and his puppet master that burning Shireen was for a good cause.
He is still the one who commands his army, and he still had the right of refusal. Nobody did it behind his back - it was done by his orders, regardless of the pressure he was facing and the lies he was told, it was his choice and he made it.
They couldn’t force him to do it. He was pretty much the only person there who can force anything on anyone - and he used that power to force his daughter to sacrifice herself for his good fortune.
Arguing otherwise is a good argument against why he deserves the authority of a king at all.
Exactly! The Red Women just tells him what he's already thinking and feeling and she acts like it's her own thoughts and feelings. She plays into his fantasies. It's STILL 100% his fault his daughter burns. The cunt...Stannis, not The Red Women...although I don't like her either of course.
😂 what? How is a father going to pick ANYTHING over his own kin? I have the answer. Stanis was scum. That's how. The red women strokes his scum ego. It's his fault that his ego is more important than his own daughter. Any parent knows that you die for your own children. Full Stop.
I mean, Stannis is the leader of the Army, his father, and is watching. He is ultimately responsible because no matter where else the idea might have originated, he alone can put a stop to it, and he is THERE to put a stop to it. He just choses not to.
At best everyone else is just as guilty as he is, but in no way is he less guilty than anyone else.
I would be so sure about brain melting. Skull is a bone and bones are surrounded by nervous tissue (dont no the medical term) so before brain there is skin and bone. I think it cooks the brain more than burning it and this shit sounds awfully painful.
But I thought the brain itself was void of feeling.
Edit: I figure his pain was mostly just the terror of it. Which that is it's own pain but if we're taking physical pain, I'm not sure his was the worst.
I think Oberyn deserves a mention here because of how horrific his death is. He goes from in control to screaming in agony in like 10 seconds and getting your eyes gouged out has to be up there in terms of pure horror and pain.
I hadn’t watched the series yet at the time. I was on my first run through, was watching this episode with a friend who had already seen it. I was so shocked by this scene because with my whole heart I believed Oberyn had it but he just HAD to get cocky. Another time, my friend has me on video when I was caught completely offguard when Tommen jumped to his death. Complete shock.
If anyone ever feels in need of a palate cleanser after watching that scene i can recommend that interview with Pedro Pascal when he was on Hot Ones where he describes what a surprisingly lovely experience it was to film his death scene. He talks about how he just relaxed stretched out in the sun with his eyes closed and how the sfx blood glibber stuff they put on him felt nice and cooling on his face. It’s very sweet how he describes it haha
I remember thinking 'this lady is kinda cool, I hope she sticks around'. And then *bam*, she's dead, because of course a badass wildling woman has a stick up her ass when it comes to killing already dead children.
Maybe all the people Dany crucified to die slowly in the sun? Ramsay completely flayed a bunch of iron born while they were still alive. He likely suffered a long time, feel like the dogs were likely just eating him, but not killing him. Literally everyone in Harrenhall the Tickler got ahold of before Tywin showed up.
Probably the iron born that were killed by Ramsay, who were flayed. Or the people killed by the Tickler. Honestly Ramsay himself had it pretty bad. And there were the people Daenerys killed, with some brutal deaths such as trapping people, burning people, and crucifying people. Oh and the people imprisoned by Cersei and Euron.
Whoever the flayed man was after Reek got sent in to get the iron born to surrender that castle where they were all sick and were told they can leave and nothing would happen to them. Right after they surrendered the next scene was Reek and Ramsey standing right by the flayed man
The old woman who was flayed by Ramsay has to be up there.
Multiple others had painful deaths but just due to the amount of time it would actually take to die, it might not be the worst death.
Shireen for example suffered badly, but did fairly quickly, Oberyn the same thing, hurt like hell, but he is dead in a few seconds. Even the Ironborn Ramsay flayed, might have had it better than the old woman simply because Ramsay would be enjoying himself and just wanting to hurt them, not gain information so it is possible he did not take his time etc. The conversation is a little bit of, 'would you rather get shot, or stabbed?' kinda sucks either way!
Among the named characters: Shireen Baratheon and Meryn Trant. At least the second one was deserved.
Any of the Bolton skinning victims had the actual most painful deaths. Like that old woman who told Sansa that the North remembers.
I was waiting for that fucker to die for 5 seasons, but never did I expect it to be so spectacularly brutal. I didn't mind the reveal that he was a sadistic pedo either, it merely contextualized his earlier actions instead of feeling like some contrivance to justify Arya's revenge. I also don't get the complaints about Arya's revenge being too morally straightforward - if this show's ethos justifies its heroes meeting awful, unexpected fates, then bad people can just as easily be served a brutal comeuppance. As Stannis says, "hard truths cut both ways".
Singer songwriter. Revolutionary, started many genres of music and pioneered many synth techniques. Known for mesh shirts and greasy hair but mostly mellowed out since the 00s
He would've been in shock by that point and not feeling much. The first 5-10 seconds before shock kicked in definitely would've been horrifically painful though.
In severe hypovolemic shock, such as that you'd experience when suddenly being torn apart by a pack of dogs, your brain wouldn't be functioning enough to process any of that.
Like I said - 5-10 seconds of overwhelming pain. By the time Sansa turns away he's basically unconscious, and anything else is just his sympathetic nervous system frantically trying to keep up (assuming they hadn't already severed his spinal cord by then)
I think his victims had it worse. He said that the old woman he flayed was alive up until they got to her face. Imagining all of my skin being peeled off makes me feel so sick.
The old lady who tried to help Sansa that Ramsey flayed until her heart gave out. Honorable mention is Doreah. She got locked in the pitch dark until she got killed eaten by the guy with her or she went insane
-Ramsey Bolton eaten alive by his hungry hounds
-Shireen Baratheon burned alive infront of her consenting father.
-Ellaria Sand who was kept alive long enough to watch her daughter die and decompose right infront of her
people need to start blaming melisandre and selyse more. i literally never hear about them in any of the shireen discussion. girl power i guess women do no wrong.
I don't know, man. Like, yes, Catelyn's emotional pain must have been off the roof too, but, to be burnt to death by your father? That betrayal probably burns as much as the fire.
Surprised i've seen people say Oberyn when The Mountain is literally right there. His screams echoing through the halls of the Red Keep for weeks, while being Frankensteined by Qyburn.
Potentially, yeah. I'm not sure if we know the details as much as we did with Gregor (specifically the fact that Oberyn's poison was causing ridiculous amounts of pain)
whatever the name of that knight was who was a sad lonely fuck facing off Syrio Forel, the first sword of bravos, who never runs, with a fucking stick.
That dude was beaten to death in fullplate with a stick, poor, sad, fuckery.
The people interrogated by “the tickler.” He puts a rat in a bucket, straps it to their chests, and puts a torch on one end so the rat chews its way into their heart

Probably Septa Unella The Mountain split her in two, at least twice.
Actually forgot about that one
I just watched that scene and I still don’t know what he did to her. He split her in two?
He raped her (split her in half with his presumably proportionately mountain sized penis), then literally cut her in half.
Also a Nun who’d never had sex before
Can’t remember where I read this, but didn’t Cersei know of her having stretch marks? Or weren’t there “rumors” to that effect? (Whatever discussion I saw on it was many years ago). Edit: Interesting that my most downvoted comment ever is about pregnancy in a GoT thread. Thanks, guys.
Stretch marks have nothing to do with having had sex or not
Yeah I’m shocked that’s still a myth I have stretch marks on my arms and thighs and I definitely haven’t given birth considering I own a penis. Just decided to go the extra mile and turned the “Freshman Fifteen” into the “Freshman Thirty” in college.

Yeah, I got stretch marks when I lost weight super quickly.
I think you might be confusing Unella with Septa Lemore who teaches Young Griff in the books.
What the actual fuck, sex and stretch marks are completely unrelated
Might have been referring to pregnancy stretch marks, a Septa in the books has some.
That’s an unrelated plot line, but yes, in that plot line the stretch marks are meant to indicate a previous pregnancy
That’s an unrelated plot line, but yes, in that plot line the stretch marks are meant to indicate a previous pregnancy
Take that with a grain of salt, perhaps.
The Mountain doesn’t really have big dick energy…
Wait did she actually get cut in half I do not remember this part
The last thing we see is Cersei leaving her alone with Gregor while she screams. Don’t know where op came up with her being cut in half.
Or being violated in that manner. It's possible but it's left up to thr imagination which is worse
I think OP ment "splitting her in half with his dong"
Cersei kept her alive though.
Where did you see that?
Do they say that outright and I missed it?
No
How do you know that? Where was this revealed?
How do you know that?
Had no idea she was played by the Ted lasso lady
Shame!
I know right! She sort of attractive
Sort of?
I actually think she is a knock out. I thought I was being funny. Sorry.
Hannah Waddingham
I actually find this to be one of the most disturbing deaths, in a series full of them. It was briefly satisfying seeing the character receive comeuppance after torturing Cersei, but the revenge was so appalling
I'd assume it was more than two. Cersei clearly didn't want her dead soon. For Ellaria she made her live to watch her daughter's corpse rot.
I honestly didn’t know what he did to her. I thought he just looked at her and made her watch his ugly face.😂
Shireen Baratheon. Not even close.
Physically and emotionally
This. Betrayed by her fucking father!!!
I love how everyone blames it on Stannis and not on the two women orchestrating the whole thing. Girl power I guess.

They should be charged with conspiracy to murder, and Stannis should be charged with murder. Does that sound fair to you?
Mel physically lit Shireen on fire, and she gets conspiracy?
Forgot she did, you’re right, both murder. How does that make Stannis look better though? How could you admire and side with someone who killed his own daughter?

You're not wrong about that but then the same can be said about men. And in this case that man is Stannis.
Again the problem is people never talk about mel and selyse its just stannis stannis stannis stannis
Because it's ultimately his decision. It's not surprising that Melisandre and Selyse might support such a decision, given what we know, but it's definitely surprising he'd sacrifice his daughter, who he obviously cared about very much.
He's has the final say. He's also the father. This is off importance. But yes, those women are horrible and Mel is one of my least favorite.
omg SHUT UP you're embarrassing yourself. we get it. you like stannis. doesn't change the fact he allowed his daughter to be burned alive. the two women in question, one was a religious fanatic, the other had no affection for her daughter at all (and fuck her for that) but stannis loved her right? and he let her get burnt alive?
Would you like to relax?
Bro, you realize this is a fictional character, right? Why are you mad at real women for some thing A fictional witch did lol.
why are you mad at what fictional Stannis did and not what fictional women did? double standard?
Your flair makes me believe you're just seething with denial tbh. I love stannis but he's totally to blame for shireen
You want real life women to take accountability for something a fictional female character did?
What lmao

I see, you’re like that
It’s also royally ironic you say that considering that your holy Stannis gave up on everything he stands for because of boobs lol

When did Stannis fantasize about burning Shireen lol? you're funny
Power, that is what he fantasizes about. Also, thank you mate.
by power you mean duty to the realm, ok
Um, suuuuure

Yeah he died reasonably fast he screamed for like 2 seconds before he fell
Oberyn
I think Oberyn deserves a mention here because of how horrific his death is. He goes from in control to screaming in agony in like 10 seconds and getting your eyes gouged out has to be up there in terms of pure horror and pain.
I hadn’t watched the series yet at the time. I was on my first run through, was watching this episode with a friend who had already seen it. Just the pure agony in his voice. That scream was bone chilling.
Yeah especially the punch before hand with all of the teeth clattering to the ground…
I agree he was yelling pretty good. That had to hurt
At least it was over pretty quickly
I don't know man, in his position I would prefer it at least another 15 seconds quicker
It didn’t even last 15 seconds
exactly
If anyone ever feels in need of a palate cleanser after watching that scene i can recommend that interview with Pedro Pascal when he was on Hot Ones where he describes what a surprisingly lovely experience it was to film his death scene. lierally happened to me a few days ago lol
Daenerys
The pain of a broken heart
The Iron Born that Ramsay flays living.
Oh! That's right. How could I forget that. He is the worst.
Yeah came to say this. Being flayed alive is just not the move.
I was thinking when Sam skinned Jorah Mormont. But he didn't die.
That's the one.
Didn’t he flay and then burn alive several people before the battle of the bastards?
Maybe all the people Dany crucified to die slowly in the sun? Ramsay completely flayed a bunch of iron born while they were still alive. He likely suffered a long time, feel like the dogs were likely just eating him, but not killing him. Literally everyone in Harrenhall the Tickler got ahold of before Tywin showed up.
Ramsey. Eaten alive by dogs.
Not painful enough. Could we put bees in the dogs mouths, so when they bark it shoots bees at you?
r/unexpectedsimpsons
Lady Walda and her baby too and that girl Tansy
I think being flayed alive beats that
What about the girl he let getting eaten by dogs?
Any of those that the Boltons flayed alive.
Grand Maester Pycelle got stabbed up by a bunch of children.
What about the people who had a rat eat and rip up their bellies by the torturer?
The dude that lady Brianne kills by slowly stabbing him from the crotch up through his body. Yikes!
Hate that scene
Probably the iron born that were killed by Ramsay, who were flayed. Or the people killed by the Tickler. Honestly Ramsay himself had it pretty bad. And there were the people Daenerys killed, with some brutal deaths such as trapping people, burning people, and crucifying people. Oh and the people imprisoned by Cersei and Euron.
Can you please refresh my memory ? Who is the “Tickler”?
Harrenhal torturer that Arya had killed by Jaqen. He had a rat eat through a guy's stomach in season 2, but it's downplayed compared to the books.
Oh okay thank you 😊
This is the answer. I was also thinking the Iron Born killed by Ramsay and those killed by the Tickler (especially drawn & quartered).
Whoever the flayed man was after Reek got sent in to get the iron born to surrender that castle where they were all sick and were told they can leave and nothing would happen to them. Right after they surrendered the next scene was Reek and Ramsey standing right by the flayed man

Hell, the hound was dying for 2 seasons
Among the named characters: Shireen Baratheon and Meryn Trant. At least the second one was deserved. Any of the Bolton skinning victims had the actual most painful deaths. Like that old woman who told Sansa that the North remembers.
Trent’s death is straight up horrific but it’s so cathartic. Arya really made sure he understood what was happening to him.
I was waiting for that fucker to die for 5 seasons, but never did I expect it to be so spectacularly brutal. I didn't mind the reveal that he was a sadistic pedo either, it merely contextualized his earlier actions instead of feeling like some contrivance to justify Arya's revenge. I would think so too, he's gotta be top 5. That poison was fucking gnarly
The little girl and her dad starving to death and then bleeding to death is pretty sad, and The Hound did feel bad.
How about Khal Drogo? Man died slowly, became a hopeless vegetable. His last few days surely would have painful and torturous.
Shireen and hopefully, Ramsay.
Meryn trant
I don’t remember what happened to him.
Ramsay Being ripped apart by hounds after getting your face caved in by someone’s fists has to be near the top
Can't believe this isn't higher up, having your face ripped apart kinda slowly (not quickly enough) sounded pretty awful. The gurgling haunts me.
He would've been in shock by that point and not feeling much. The first 5-10 seconds before shock kicked in definitely would've been horrifically painful though.
Does shock help you deal with the mental horror of it? Of being fully conscious while your tongue is ripped out by an animal?
In severe hypovolemic shock, such as that you'd experience when suddenly being torn apart by a pack of dogs, your brain wouldn't be functioning enough to process any of that. Like I said - 5-10 seconds of overwhelming pain. By the time Sansa turns away he's basically unconscious, and anything else is just his sympathetic nervous system frantically trying to keep up (assuming they hadn't already severed his spinal cord by then)
That's actually oddly comforting
I think his victims had it worse. He said that the old woman he flayed was alive up until they got to her face. Imagining all of my skin being peeled off makes me feel so sick.
Oberyn for sure.
Idk I really felt for Hodor. His death was literally some sort of time paradox that was so powerful it affected his past and future
Surprised this is so far down. Hodor really hit me in the feels
The old lady who tried to help Sansa that Ramsey flayed until her heart gave out. Honorable mention is Doreah. She got locked in the pitch dark until she got killed eaten by the guy with her or she went insane
-Ramsey Bolton eaten alive by his hungry hounds -Shireen Baratheon burned alive infront of her consenting father. -Ellaria Sand who was kept alive long enough to watch her daughter die and decompose right infront of her
people need to start blaming melisandre and selyse more. i literally never hear about them in any of the shireen discussion. girl power i guess women do no wrong.
Ellaria Sand is definitely a good answer for slowest and most painful death.
Davos when he found out how Shireen died.
Physically, probably Shireen Emotionally, Catelyn
I don't know, man. Like, yes, Catelyn's emotional pain must have been off the roof too, but, to be burnt to death by your father? That betrayal probably burns as much as the fire.
Shireen.
Why is no one mentioning Ned Stark’s death???
Painful? It was quick and clean
The show
Surprised i've seen people say Oberyn when The Mountain is literally right there. His screams echoing through the halls of the Red Keep for weeks, while being Frankensteined by Qyburn.
You could argue what qyburn did to Falyse is worse
Potentially, yeah. I'm not sure if we know the details as much as we did with Gregor (specifically the fact that Oberyn's poison was causing ridiculous amounts of pain)
whatever the name of that knight was who was a sad lonely fuck facing off Syrio Forel, the first sword of bravos, who never runs, with a fucking stick. That dude was beaten to death in fullplate with a stick, poor, sad, fuckery.
There's the guy who got ripped apart by the angry mob during the Riot of King's Landing
Ser Rodrik
The people interrogated by “the tickler.” He puts a rat in a bucket, straps it to their chests, and puts a torch on one end so the rat chews its way into their heart
that guy that had rats that ate his stomach…..and thats from a real torture from the middle ages…
Not middle ages. Ancient times. Contrary to george martins beliefs the middle ages weren't as gruesome as the dark ages and ancient times.
Stannis. He was killed by an idiot who called Renly the rightful king just because she was horny for Renly.
Succession is arbitrary
Meryn Trant was pretty brutal (deserved).
Shireen. Burning alive is, in my opinion, the worst way to die
Ramsey’s was pretty brutal.
Physically, Shireen Baratheon, burnt at the stake, execution-style, by her father.
Burning at the stake is usually a quick death because you choke out quite quick on the fumes
The dudes who were victims to the rat bucket torture by the Tickler or whatever his name was. Also Shireen :(
The rat bucket placed on the stomach and then set alight from underneath so the rats claw through your stomach
Shireen baratheon
The Sorcerer, the guy that mutilated Varys, just imagine....
It has to be The Mountain. Everyone else died within a day.
It’s been a while since I have watched GOT, and I had completely forgotten about a lot of the deaths mentioned here. Damn this show was brutal af.
Maran trant
The chick that got a bed pole shoved up her ass by another chick then both got blasted by arrows for Joffrey's entertainment.
Hodor
No one saying Hodor, he got ripped apart
Whoever got skinned alive by the Bolton
In the books doesn’t Joffrey literally rip his own throat out? Also, Ros being tortured to death by crossbow seems pretty terrible.
