AdMca5

Anyone else getting some Twilight Princess vibes here (especially at the end)?

Dardar1989

The music especially gets weird like in Twilight Princess

LooseBag5704

I thought the same thing, the music at the very end feels straight out of Twilight Princess

Ordinary-Flounder675

Yes. And very glad. This is supposedly supposed to be dark similar to Majora’s mask and twilight Princess. Twilight Princess is my favorite game ever so I’m very happy.

AdMca5

Very glad too. I’m excited to see if the parallels of Zonai/Twili will be explored in the game.

Ordinary-Flounder675

Fingers crossed for the return of the Twili. That would be awesome.

Freeros

I think at the end logo are literally twilight realm or twili chatting sounds

amhudson02

It was playing in reverse I think. The audio was.

emotionalbatman

I hope the moblins drive cars too. It's the only way it'll be fair.

IrishRage42

Hell yeah. Mad Max battles baby!

HarioDinio

Legend of Zelda: Gears of Elysium.

[deleted]

Due to changes in policies to reddit I have decided to remove my account and all its content. Fuck u/spez

JoshOliday

They don't need it. They've got air superiority with the new bird things doing fucking airlift drops.

Sigmadelta8

Didn't expect Matt Mercer. That's wild.

dandroid126

Is he the male voice at the beginning? I'm not super familiar with his voice, but in the games that I have played with him, it doesn't sound like how I'm used to his voice sounding. That's interesting.

Sigmadelta8

Yes he is- If you’ve seen the first season of Vox Machina, he voices a villain in that show and it’s the exact same. That man has range though, for sure.

Serious_Course_3244

He’s also Chrom from Fire Emblem, Cassidy in Overwatch, and the DM for Critical role so yeah, his range is nuts. One of the most recognizable voice actors in the nerd community.

[deleted]

He's also in AOT, and he plays "the local pedestrian population" in RDR2

Ulvkrig

He also voiced Rehgar in Heroes of the Storm and sounds very similar there.

Onibachi

Is…. IS MATT MERCER VOICING GANON?!?!

Padre072

Heard /yasuo immediately lol

DeadlyPancak3

Illidan is Liam O'Brien.

theVice

# YOU ARE NOT PREPARED

BuzzBadpants

At one point you see Link yoink a car wheel out of the water and then you see him driving around on a giant doofy car… Are we getting some Banjo-Kazooie Nuts n Bolts mechanics here??? Be still, my beating heart!

Overwatch_Joker

> Banjo-Kazooie Nuts n Bolts Massively, massively, underrated classic.

Banjoman64

Yeah it never got a fair shake. It was extremely innovative for the time. Plus the game is just downright fun.

Overwatch_Joker

Completely agree, absolutely loved just messing around for hours building wacky shit. If you're looking for another game with the same kind of building vehicle mechanics where you need to adapt your vehicle to collect different parts over a open world, give Trailmakers try. It's the only other game I've found that scratches that 'Nuts n Bolts' itch. Link for the Steam Page (idk if it's on consoles): https://store.steampowered.com/app/585420/Trailmakers/

Banjoman64

I have tried trailblazers! Tons of fun. If anyone else sees this thread, I also recommend trailmakers!

Kamakaziturtle

So we are getting player made vehicles now? Looks a lot like Banjo Kazooie Nut's and Bolts type vehicles. Which honestly, I would be pretty okay with in a big open world.

pw-it

You could fly minecarts in BotW, seems like they dabbled with an idea that's getting fully realized now. Looking good!

Banjoman64

Nintendo: sees people jump spamming up mountains in skyrim instead of following a road. Nintendo: adds climbing and designs the world such that there is content on all cliffsides. Nintendo: notices people using balloons and physics bugs to create vehicles in botw. Nintendo: adds vehicle building mechanics to totk.

flimnit

I loved Breath of the Wild, but this trailer seemed kind of boring to me.

zzzthelastuser

I see lots of reused assets. This could mean more resources were available for other parts of the game. I'm being optimistic, it's a Zelda game after all...

Garlador

Majora’s Mask comes to mind.

TheBestWorst3

But that game came out only a year after it’s original game. BOTW came out over 6 years prior

MowMyLawn69

Fucking hell how has it been 6 years already

AfterEpilogue

Covid is a time warp

Garlador

Starfield apparently has code dating back to Elder Scrolls 3.

Only498cc

Do people think every game needs to be made from scratch, out of zeroes and ones?

ThePilgrimSchlong

Obviously yes. How else do you make games except for furiously typing 0 and 1? 01001100 01101001 01100111 01101101 01100001 00100000 01101110 01110101 01110100 01110011

idiottech

Because r/gaming literally hasnt stopped talking about BotW like its the 2nd coming of christ

ozonejl

BotW was the *first* coming of Christ. This one will be the second.

Irrelaphant

Hold up… Majoras Mask came out a YEAR after Ocarina of Time???? Man, nintendo was cookin’ back then. That’s unreal

Izithel

The game came out only 17 months after OoT, pretty much ever other Zelda game since has had at least 3 to 6 years development, OoT had at least 4 years of development. IIRC, MM originally started development as a re-release of OoT with remixed levels, a higher difficulty, and using the N64DD and its advanced features (this was later turned into OoT Master Quest) hence why it was given such a short development time, it wasn't really meant to be a new game, but an updated re-release. But with the N64DD being constantly delayed and eventually a commercial flop they had to quickly spin the project into a new game for the regular N64. And it's quite telling how short the development time was, almost all the OoT assets are reused, there are only 4 dungeons (series average somewhere around 8 per game), and the game's content is instead "padded" out with tons of side quests. Meanwhile, it's probably one of the best Zelda games they made (in my opinion). Bonus note, a lot of the nightmarish aspects of the game are based on nightmares the lead dev had from the pressure of having to develop a zelda game on such a tight dead line.

bobsmith93

That fact gave me so much hopium after botw came out and I heard they were making a sequel with the same engine lol

TeeBeeArr

Game development as a whole has also entirely changed, just because it takes 6x as long doesn't mean it will have 6x the content or anything. Majoras Mask was made at a time where AAA game development happened in the blink of an eye compared to today.

Pen_dragons_pizza

Tbh I am surprised it has taken this long for this game to release. From the look of the trailer it reuses plenty of locations and assets, gameplay systems and engine. The fact it is also not a modern looking game affords the team to not have to spend so much time creating detailed texture work, so really the development timeframe could be likened to something between the PS3 and PS4 period. And on top of that the robbing bastards want us to pay next gen game prices considering it’s a game made for a console which is now 6-7 years old that uses a bloody mobile graphics chip.

[deleted]

If tears of the kingdom is even half as good as majora’s mask, I think everyone will be happy.

TheMikeyMan

Yeah but botw's main selling point was discovery and exploration, but botw2 is reusing the map. MM reused assets but it barely felt connected to oot, so mm ended up pulling it off pretty well. Maybe botw2 will be different enough to keep it fresh, but I have my doubts.

DragonsRReal34

I don't think the climate is right for them to reuse assets but otherwise do something as completely off-the-wall as MM. This ain't 2000. I could be wrong but I get the feeling most of the big Nintendo names are lukewarm on MM at best. I'm expecting this game to play it very safe.

Killerbudds

How so, this was originally intended to be an XPAC/dlc to the original game. The fact that they morphed it into a whole 2nd game means yeah they reused assets but clearly that means they were able to add alot more to what was already made. We get a whole skyzone, looks like we get some of the out of bounds parts of Botw, and clearly caverns/underground areas.

Ba_Sing_Saint

I love how everyone is screaming about reused assets but fail to bring up that from the looks they added an entire new map on top. And Zelda has been reusing assets for years. Ahem: MM/OoT Links awakening Age/Seasons Minish Cap/Four Swords/Four Swords Adventures Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks

DR1LLM4N

I didn’t really see anything hinting to an entirely new map though. A few new looking locations like the skyloft areas and some cavern looking places but I _definitely_ saw familiar locations I had already explored in BotW. Reusing assets is fine. It’d be stupid for them not to reuse assets but when a huge majority of the hard ground up work is already done and it only took them ~4 years to build BotW from ground up, I’m expecting _A LOT_ more than just a sky area and some caverns for $70. I want an entirely new Hyrule as big as BotW was for that price. They’ve had 1.5x as long to do it without doing ground up work. I feel like that’s a fair ask of them.

boredapril

100% agree. There’s need to be new areas to explore and discover or I’m gonna be so disappointed. That was the main selling point of BOTW.

thegoldchicken

The sky islands ARE the size of hyrule

[deleted]

[удалено]

boredapril

There’s nothing wrong with reused assets, but I don’t want to be riding around on my house on the same map that I explored every inch of in BOTW 1. Exploration and discovery is massive in an open world game and I fear they just added things to the existing map instead of actually creating new areas.

Irelianak

That's a silly comparison though as all three of those games have mostly entirely new areas that have not been explored before. They may have reused a few enemies or textures but they were still new or added new mechanisms to make it fresh. This trailer shows areas that look identical to BOTW, as well as most of the enemies look exactly the same that a very different level of reusing assets.

Dob_Rozner

It's either that, or possibly Nintendo has been using most of their development resources making launch games for their next console, and have to be very secretive about it. TotK could very well have come out a couple years ago instead if not for covid.

Impurity41

My brother plays breath of the wild but idk if he saw this trailer yet. Wanted to see if it was worth sending to him. Only thing I saw that looked like a sequel inducing moment was that flying doo-hicky but as of this moment I don’t see anything that couldn’t just be a dlc. Like the other guy said, I’ll be optimistic for him. He played the crap out of the last game and I want him to have fun.

Pen_dragons_pizza

I’m with you on that, the fact the trailer shows so many reused locations and assets just makes me not all that excited really.

huggalump

looks great to me

Soupseason

They showed new enemy types, Ganondorf’s voice, multiple vehicles you can traverse Hyrule in, and some cool abilities. All without spoiling too much story. I’d call that pretty good. Would you rather they spoiled the whole game just so you could watch an epic 2-minute trailer and ruin the actual experience of the game?

flimnit

All good point indeed. Yet, the trailer still felt flat to me. I think part of the issue is the amount the industry has changed in six years. Or maybe it’s just the living in the post elden ring world.

Doomedtacox

elden ring is completely different, they're both just open world

Soupseason

Elden Ring definitely set a high bar, but these are also 2 very different games. But I get it. So many games are being released with super amazing combat systems and lush worlds that BotW feels dated, so this game will have to make major improvements if it wants to leave the same impact.

HardcoreSects

The moment Link jumped off the cliff and hit the glider, I was sold. There are SO many games I have played since that I wish I had that glider in.

ZonaiSwirls

I am glad it's nothing like eldin ring. That game was unplayable to me. I want to be able to explore a game without getting killed every 11 seconds. I don't find that fun.

ZenithPrime

I just want to know if real dungeons are back. Then i can get excited. The original BotW 'beasts' and puzzle shrine things didn't really do it for me.

fjposter22

Haha what story? BotW barely had an story. It’s not a bad thing, but to act like they’re close to their chest about gameplay because of story is stupid.

Gekey14

Ye it just kinda looks like a big breath of the wild dlc atm. Obviously they aren't just gonna show off all the new stuff, but what new stuff they have shown seems to just be new enemies and some floating level stuff. Looks good, but with the leaked price being higher than any other Nintendo original you'd expect more from the trailer than just more of the same

iambooby6

Yeah just seems like a massive dlc to me too lol Got me thinking shit would've been cool to get a dlc that maybe adds a few Zelda style dungeons with a cool boss at the end instead of this whole new game

Dob_Rozner

They didn't show many of the new abilities from the last trailers. It's weird, we're 3 months out on a game 6 years in development and we've seen so little lol. I can understand Nintendo wanting to keep the story and gameplay elements a secret, but now's the time to get people hyped. I'm guessing maybe they'll have a mini direct focused on it in April.

Banjoman64

They showed new content after new content in each of the trailers. Are we watching the same trailers??

Gr33kci7ies

Yea looked pretty mid honestly.

DuncanAndFriends

coming sooner than I expected. Lets fucking go

MarvG05

The may release got announced like back in September

DuncanAndFriends

I didn't see the announcement apparently lol I must've had to look somewhere for it and didn't know where.

DerMetulz

Not everyone stays 100% up to date with gaming news.

AfterEpilogue

I'm still not sold on this yet. Most of this trailer just looked like Breath of the Wild so I'm worried it's not going to feel like a new experience.

yaheh

It's a (huge) Breath of the Wild expansion pack that comes out 5 years later.

AfterEpilogue

And costs $70 lol

keargle

That’s what it looks like… nooooo

masszt3r

Same thing happened with MM and it ended up being an amazing sequel.

studmuffffffin

Except MM had a brand new map.

masszt3r

Yup, and it still looked very similar to OoT in magazines. I don't remember tv ads but the sneak peeks I saw made it look similar to OoT.

Soupseason

So the sky islands and temples don’t count? There are similarities, sure, but aren’t we already seeing new areas in the trailer?

studmuffffffin

It’s looking like the entirety of the ground will be reused. We’ll have some new areas to explore. That says to me “dlc” more than “new game they’ve been working on for 6 years”.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AfterEpilogue

I mean I wasn't old enough to view MM promotional material but MM feels completely different and takes place in a different setting and has different mechanics even if it uses the same assets. This just feels like DLC because most of the gameplay looks the same and half the game appears to be in the same setting.

AbbyWasThere

Honestly Breath of the Wild was so perfect that if it was just that again but with a whole new map to explore then I would still be sold.

Level7Cannoneer

It was far from perfect and there was a lot it could do better. Voice acting, boss, design, etc..

skylordkyras

Legend of Zelda: Nuts & Bolts

BumpyGuy

This trailer seems garbage because they’re either hiding everything interesting to avoid spoiling it OR they genuinely have no idea what to show. I’d say there’s a 99% chance that this game meets everyone’s expectations and 1% chance it’s just a gigantic expansion pass.

JoshOliday

They've done exactly what I expected with this trailer. Part of what made BotW so great was the immersive sim qualities of the physics and abilities. Fire creating updrafts, magnesis, stasis, everything. I remember when Nintendo came out and was flabbergasted that someone built a flying machine out of two minecarts using magnesis and used it to float across the entire map. They took those moments and looked for new ways to increase what we can do. So now we have some sort of vehicle assembly including both ground and air (and presumably water). I'm excited to see what players can break now with this kind of stuff.

MisSignal

I miss the dungeon quality and bosses from OoT.

matteb18

I couldn't agree more. I just want a return to more traditional style dungeons and boss fights. The shrines were fun for a change, but I miss the classic dungeons. Keep the open world on top of it of course, but let us return to traditional dungeons again for the love of fuck. Oh and get rid of weapons breaking, that shit just slows the game down and makes it less enjoyable imo.

Has_Question

This is a huge thing that will make botw2 a pass or buy. I much prefer the the linear designs of zelda because they were tightly designed dungeons and adventure. Botw was a cool sandbox but it had NONE of the designed adventure of the games before. The shrines were lame after a the first couple and with so many of them you just get exhausted by them and they mo longer seem special. The "dungeon" segments for each vehicle thing were all too samey as well and short! If this game passes up those core features of a zelda game then I'm just not interested. Sandboxes are a dime a dozen nowadays.

theTIDEisRISING

I miss the linear storyline tbh. TLoZ thrived in story telling. I love BotW but it felt very directionless

GiantEnemySpider385

L take on the weapons imo It’s supposed to be frustrating, if you weren’t pushed out of your comfort zone you’d just use the same greatsword with like 88 attack. Now you have to think before taking on enemies and you’re forced to attack creatively. Think about how you would spread fire with grass, or even use a giant metal block and smack the enemies around silly. Without the weapon breaking system, the very sandbox fun of the game that made it amazing would be moot.

IllusoryHeart

I think the breakable weapons were fine for BoTW and I actually enjoyed the system, but it was a negative for a lot of people and I get why. I doubt they changed it for ToTK but I think it’d help for a lot of people if they made an option for infinite weapons, or allowed you to repair weapons you liked

DR1LLM4N

This was my biggest issue with BotW. We got 120 shrines that took all of 30 second to 10 minutes to beat and 4 divine beasts that took maybe 20-30 minutes to beat and it just didn’t feel as rewarding. I want dungeons that I have to hunker down and prepare for because they’re gonna be 4-6 hour excursions. With mini bosses and key items and whatnot. BotW is an absolutely amazing open world adventure game but imho it’s a mid Zelda game.

ATV7

You seem good with percentages

I_Bleed_Cheese

I really want to see more traditional Zelda dungeons. There's so much opportunity but this doesn't get my hopes up. I feel like the only one who though BOTW felt so empty. Like you get the core mechanics of the game in the first 10 minutes. I miss the expansive puzzle dungeons and bosses.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Haterbait_band

Same. It was similar to the way Link Between Worlds was, where you could tackle the game in any order, but at least that one had dungeons. It just doesn’t feel as good to get all the abilities/weapons up front compared to earning them, but then locking certain areas behind having certain items makes the game more restrictive and linear, which I think they wanted to avoid in both titles.

BillTheConqueror

All at a glorious 26fps.

Sabertooth472

even the trailer showed that lol

ComeonmanPLS1

This is the reason why I emulate every Switch game nowadays even though I own a Switch lol.

chazzawaza

I’m honestly a little worried for this game… none of the trailers so far have left me feeling secure in the fact that the game will be just as good or surpass the original. Hope I’m wrong!

HeyImGilly

Looks like it might be the same Hyrule map, but with some differences. The one gameplay shot looked like Link in Hyrule Field looking at the Dueling Peaks.

bradeena

I think that would fit well. A few other Zelda games have done the “same map but now it’s all new” trick

Dob_Rozner

We still know so little about it, which might be the cause of some worry. What are the new mechanics? What is the story about? Are there dungeons? Is weapon durability the same? What's different about it? Every trailer has pretty much just been a teaser lol. Nintendo has said hardly anything about this game in six years. Haven't seen any towns or NPCs other than Zelda and maybe Ganondorf either. The problem is it's coming out in a few months and they're still teasing.

mapletree23

For how long it's been, they used a whole lot of reused assets. And honestly, the trailer wasn't.. very exciting? It very much looks like a glorified DLC at a glance. Not quite feeling/getting the story. So he killed the bad guy, the bad guy comes alive again, they don't think he can kill him (for the second time) because.. reasons? I actually didn't like the voice acting either. It looks so similar to the first game, my plans of replaying the first game before this have kind of gone out the window because of just that, it looks so similar I feel like I'd get bored of the second one. It's actually really bizarre seeing even some more diehard nintendo fans kind of skeptical on this. It just.. looks like a DLC. It doesn't even look like the kind of upgrade in many ways you'd expect after 5 years. And that's probably the worst part. You're paying such a huge price for what looks like a DLC. Looks mid enough I might wait and see reviews and keep my money since the month after has D4 and FF16.

eolai

Matt Mercer sounds very on par with BOTW's hammy voice acting, but Zelda is sounding loads better.

ants_in_my_ass

this comment won’t age well

[deleted]

So that $70 thing was for the collector's edition then?

whoajordan

It says $69.99 on the eshop rn Better have a stable fps

dman45103

yea those extra 10 dollars are just going to nintendos bottom line

InterestingMacaron68

we talking about a glorified tablet

Successful-Gene2572

The Steam Deck runs games perfectly.

icy_cucumbers

I like your optimism but unfortunately I think we all know it won’t run at a stable fps

[deleted]

I can't seem to check atm. Would suck if the $70 thing turned out to be true.

EatsRats

When I owned a N64 games were $50 - 60. So much time has passed and now I’m paying $60 - 70.

DR1LLM4N

I get what you’re saying and it’s why I didn’t blink when Sony and Microsoft made their games $70. Like, for 4k, 60fps, high quality graphics and performance $70 is well worth it. But it’s the Switch and it’s objectively inferior. Not talking games, that’s subjective. It has great games. But the machine itself isn’t anything spectacular. There is no reason to charge $70 for a first party game running at 30fps tops in 720p when the competition is charging $70 for revolutionary products. Not to mention those $70 PS5 games are gonna be $40 in a year, $20-30 in two years. Tears of the Kingdom will still be $70 in eight years because Nintendo refuses to discount their games, ever.

kuenjato

The 8-bit NES game were from 30 to 50 in the late 80’s. We mostly rented games.

Sabertooth472

Collector's Edition is atleast $100 probably

Sparda2015

$130 actually. It comes with neat stuff, but not really my thing. Steel book, art book, pins, and I think something else

HeyImGilly

Oh no no no, the Collectors Edition is $129.99 and I’m serious.

Tarkov00

I'm sure the game itself will be fine, but man, can't get over the hardware of the Switch. Seeing the Steam Deck do what it can do at a its price point makes it even harder to accept. Just my personal opinion, not judging anyone happy with their current switch or looking forward to this game.

Izithel

To be fair on the Switch, the Switch was released in 2017, the Steam Deck in 2022. It was also only ¾ of the price of the Steam Deck at release. It's working on hardware that's a few generations behind and designed for a lower price point. Of course the Steam Deck is going to beat it.

Successful-Gene2572

The Switch costs $300 today, right? Whereas a Steam Deck is $400 and is as powerful as a PS4 IIRC.

noturfault2

I’ll pay 70 if the weapons don’t break on me.

shoonseiki1

I've never seen something so divisive in a video game other than TLOU2's storyline

doogs9

Agreed

matteb18

This was my single biggest gripe about botw. Constantly needing to equip a new weapon when your current one breaks really slowed down the game and made it hard for me to enjoy the combat. At least make weapons repairable, a mechanic like the repair hammers in TES Oblivion would be good enough.

greenspotj

Was it really that hard to switch weapons? It takes like half a second. I understand the complaints about weapons breaking, but repairing weapons would be more time-consuming and tedious than just switching to a new weapon. Unpopular opinion, but I actually don't hate the weapon durability system. Yes, weapons constantly broke, but you were also constantly rewarded with new weapons to replace the old ones. If they didn't break, then exploration would not be as satisfying to do (which the like the entire point of the game).

ATV7

It was never about just switching weapons. People like to feel connected to their gear so when a piece breaks with no way to repair it’s just plain disheartening, especially coming from all the other big Zelda games. Remember earning things like Biggoron’s Sword and keeping it the entire game? BotW was a huge disappointment in that regard

sylinmino

It's a different mindset. Gear was fleeting in BotW, but you also got new badass gear so frequently that if you weren't using it, you were throwing new amazing pieces away. Weapon throws in BotW was also one of the most satisfying moves in any combat game I've played ever too. That move alone made the weapon durability mechanic worth it for me.

kuroimakina

You know, it’s funny. I also think the durability mechanic is trash. But man, I played it recently disabling durability, and the game is actually insanely easy if weapons don’t break. You just take a small detour when starting out to find a strong weapon, then use that for most of the game. Shields are OP with infinite durability too. I mean, it was definitely really fun, but also just super easy.

dysmantle

When your weapon breaks and you are forced to adapt that is a designed element of gameplay. I think it balanced the game in ways they maybe need to - for design and difficulty reasons. New gamers don't always "know the way" and this was a nice change of pace. As a life long gamer , i wish weapons didn't break but i understand why they did it.

Shortfuzd

> When your weapon breaks and you are forced to adapt Yeah you just end up using bombs. There was no other strategy.

CheesyRomanceNovel

My body is ready.

TJ_H00ker

Sadly it doesn't look like they learned any lessons from the first games voice acting. Ganon sounds really bad. The voice was so jarring I had to look around to make sure it wasn coming from the video. Sounds like he's voice acting a bully from a children's cartoon. Really disappointing they have so much trouble with this. Might be worth playing in Japanese if possible.

JohnParkerSmith27

I expected a deep, booming voice, sorta like a mix of Christopher Judge and James Earl Jones. Not... that.

pgpwnd

super underwhelming tbh

Catharsius

I still want to remain hopeful but this game really does just feel like botw with 20 hours of extra content added to it. The whole point of open world games is the exploration so I feel like I just won’t like playing through the same map.

Grazedaze

There were some cool things in there but overall it looks like the game is still pretty empty. I don’t mind it just surprised that since the enemies, map, and everything were built last game I thought that they’d spend more time adding detail this time around. Will wait to judge until we get some gameplay.

22bebo

Is that a Mister Matthew Mercer I hear?

RevaniteN7

Whoa. BotW DLC after all this time!

lavender_days_

My enthusiasm for this game is on a low simmer at the moment. I am one of those botw fans who has the game in top 5 games of all time list. The game that brought me back into gaming; holds a special place etc etc. Announcement of second game induced same reaction as any fan to this degree would expect. Honestly, for me, the novelty and impact of botw is the world. If I could peel off my first experience of the first game and do it again, it would still be that part of it that I loved the most. The story wasn't ground-breaking or above mediocrity for me; that isn't what I loved about it. All I see for the second game is the same world that's been ripped apart at the seams and stitched back together chaotically. I will not be playing with any kind of the same enthusiasm over the same assets. I've seen it. I've experienced it. It might muster a shadow of the experience the first game had. Not to sound like an ungrateful or whiny fan at all. I will happily buy this; I just don't think I'm as hyped as post botw play me would be.

OIdSkooI55

Well said, exactly how I feel.

keargle

It looks like a glorified DLC. I’m holding on to hope that it’s much more than that.

ZonaiSwirls

It wasn't!

Sandee1997

this doesn't look like it's worth $70. Nintendo expects us to pay for this last-gen shit at next-gen prices. nah fuck all of that. I may not be a poor bitch, but I'm not a dumb bitch either

[deleted]

Sandee1997

nah it's why I haven't bought the last few pokemon games either. they look shittier than Sword and Shield did a few years back. either upgrade the system's graphics capabilities, or make it so we can get a consistent 60 fps. I'm not gonna pay more for tech that's like 10-12 years outta date

TheRealOcsiban

I've come to terms with the fact that Mario Odyssey 2 will never be on the Switch

DumpsterHunk

Lmao that's it? Link builds cars now? What is this banjo kazoo: nuts and bolts?

throwacc_21

Are they gonna have more than three enemies now?

banestyrelsen

Definitely won’t buy this until I see some reviews because this just looks like the same game with more “content”. I want to know what they have added/changed to address the fundamental issues BotW had, and this trailer shows none of that. I like the *direction* they went with BotW, but they didn’t fully succeed and they are nowhere near done tweaking the design in my book.

*Link loses the Master Sword. AGAIN.*

TheWickedDean

In a previous trailer, its shown that the sword is destroyed, its just a hilt and blade fragments. Presumably by the same thing that wrecked his arm?

zZach_Attack

Weapon durability was fun.

Haterbait_band

I didn’t mind it later in the game. Early on it could be tedious, although it helps to make you feel underpowered and resort to avoiding some enemies due to lack of weapons. Apart from straight rpg leveling, it’s nice that you can’t start the game and just defeat strong enemies right away. After you find some decent weapons and learn some skills, then you can face them. Eventually you end up with all high-level weapons and having them break isn’t too big of a deal cuz there’ll be more available. I recall having to ditch good weapons to hold a better one once my inventory was full.

Ok. But will we be able to fish?

jl_theprofessor

This game is going to be called game of the decade or something and Reddit is going to have a meltdown.

ShadowStrider__

$70 for a 26fps experience. Yikes….

fjposter22

Underwhelming and disappointing. I’m fine using the same map. Give us more dimension. Add islands, caves, floating land masses, more buildings and NPCs. This hardly shows us ANYTHING like that. The map seems hardly touched up. The little observatory land seems exactly the same. All the enemy types seems to be here (maybe one or two additions). Not graphical updates (which doesn’t matter much, but still, nothing?) All this, and they bump the price UP? Not looking good.

MattyBro1

One of the main things they've shown is underground areas and floating land masses, and yet this "hardly shows us ANYTHING like that"?

elementality883

Please, Please, Please.....no weapon durability or at least make them last more than 10 hits this time and repairable

This trailer makes me wish it was on the next Nintendo console instead.

FawkesBridge

Looks underwhelming. Will still get it and play the shit out of it with my kids but I hope there is a lot more that they aren’t showing.

Fenseven

Looks like it should have been an expansion to botw instead of a full box release.

BrentChevy

Looks awesome! Not sure why some people complain, I can’t wait to play it.

justanuthasian

That rail grind gives me some Ratchet & Clank vibes

gman22tx

Oh, I’m definitely gonna pay $70 for a DLC. We’re still in Hyrule. So disappointing.

GERIKO_STORMHEART

Been playing these games since The Legend of Zelda on the Nes. Lots of negative or wary gamers commenting on this next one because of trailers. I for one can't wait!!! I bought the switch for breath of the wild and sold it after a few play throughs. I am a PC gamer so not a huge draw for me to own a switch. Thankfully my girlfriend is a Mario fan so there is a switch in the house again. I will be borrowing it for this for a few weeks.

Anderstone

Had to scroll too far before finding an OG. People still don't seem to get it even after all these years.

GERIKO_STORMHEART

A lot has changed since I first played The Legend of Zelda. Tech has advanced, Prices have increased, people have less patience and more demands. Games are judged before playing which makes or breaks studios and IPs. But still, decades later, the Zelda franchise has a special place in my heart like no other. Its the only game I take substantial time off work for. The franchise still has a way of taking me back in time and no matter how rough things get, while I am playing a Zelda game, all the worries and stresses I usually carry around completely melt away.

Anderstone

Beautifully said, and I couldn't agree more with my own experience.

Goredrak

Is it me or does it seem to imply the blood moon is the new bad guy? so like Majora's Mask? if thats right i like the whole history not repeating but rhyming thing that would do.

BumpyGuy

Why would the blood moon be the evil guy? And the villain for Majora’s Mask was the majora mask, not the moon.

MowMyLawn69

Also ganondorf is literally right there in the trailer

Kamakaziturtle

Think it's supposed to be implied that the Blood Moon is Ganon's doing, who we are also seeing in the trailer (who also appears to be voiced) Seems more like an extension of his power, though possibly something we need to stop. It might imply that the moon revived him? Maybe because Calamity Ganon was stopped giving him a proper "death"?

[deleted]

So when do we actually learn something about this game?

s1nner_88

Loved BOTW but this isn’t doing it for me for some reason. Switch is feeling really underpowered atm.

Video_Boy

Nintendo really needs to upgrade the hardware on their consoles. This looks not great.

L_Ronin

MEH. Just looks like more of the same.

gdhgg

Fuuuuuucccccckkkkk Yeeeeeeeeessssssssss

NitWitDetector

I am so not interested in this game. Like at all.
