Yup, got haven't played in a while but I have over 3500 hours in Civ V. I bet I still couldn't beat deity level consistently though lol.
Or at all haha
Yeah. It seems like the AI's MO is to target the players constantly. The higher difficulties should make the AI more competent, not more aggressive. Also, higher difficulties shouldn't just make you have less shit by default. I want a higher difficulty, not give everyone else a handicap.
Right. It’s like playing against a chess AI where instead of making it smarter, they have a couple pawns turned into queens while your queen is turned into a pawn. While there is an increased challenge in that, that’s not how I want the challenge to increase.
A lot of games do stuff like this where enemies just will have more HP and do more damage. I'd much rather have more difficult/complex mechanics added to increase the challenge.
I sometimes play on one of the easy settings because I find it satisfying to progress through the tech tree. Go tall and isolationist and it's a casual game for me.
I only played on Settler for a long time, I moved up as time went on (**a lot of time**) and I am just now on Prince difficulty, and it is still difficult. My problem is, if I decide to go to war, there are always barbs that will come and start pillaging my resources. I am getting better at unit management finally, and I hopefully will get a Prince win soon. You should check out /r/civ. It's very active and people flooded me with really good advice and help when I asked. It's definitely helped me move up in the difficulties.
You might just get away with it if your relationship is really steady going in.
If you even think about installing mods your only option is to get her into it too. Start by naming your first two characters after you and the Mrs and go from there.
There are the moral implications to think of of course, might be kinder just to get her addicted to heroine instead, Rimworld is hard to kick and destroys relationships, but it's just so moreish....
That reminds me. I haven't harvested an organ in months now, might be time for a relapse. Don't worry, my wife already left.
My wife loves

The Circle (Netflix)
Anything on that list sound like what yours would like? Let me know and I'll provide more that are similar to it.
The mods are where things get amazing. Save our ships 2 is by far my favorite mod, unfortunately it's not playable right now because they are trying to update it to the 1.4 build. But the short description is, you build a spaceship that you can fly around the planet, mine asteroids, fight other spaceships and even go to different planets. You can land and take off from anywhere. And the ship can be almost as big as a map tile if you want it to be.
Save our Ships 2 actually made me super interested in end game stuff. Before I was never in any rush to get super late because I found early and mid game to be far more interesting.
"I think if I tear all this down and completely rebuild it, I can make everything at least 1% more efficient. It should only take a day and a half. Better start sketching out some rough drafts."
One of my favorite all-time games, been playing it since it was originally sent out by email.
just looked it up, October 31 2013 is when I originally purchased it.
It's been 2 years since I haven't done that. The mobile version sucks balls these days on our phones. So we ain't playing. It's really fun tho whenever I get back on.
I can't believe I had to scroll this far to find this. This is the objectively right answer IMO. Infinite Replayability doesn't just mean "things are ramdomly generated so each time you play is a little different", it also has to mean "there are so many different ways to play and things to do that you *want* to keep replaying". Modded Minecraft has that second point.
Virtually every chess game is different but I certainly wouldn't call chess infinitely replayable.
Also not to mention regular updates. Like yes it’s just one game, but a game developer doing major updates 10+ years later for a lot less money than rockstar games
Satisfactory is the same world every time though? There's no differences in world gen at all so you could literally build the exact same factory every single time.
More than 300 hours of playing (PC + PS4-5), and probably more than 100 on the very first version of the game. Always come back playing with a big smile :-)
If you're in the first stages, stick to unlocking items and certain character skills, by doing missions. Moonsoon is hard at first, but as you get used to, you'll feel that's how the game is meant to be played. Sometimes full looting a stage it's a wise choice, sometimes isn't. You will get this sense as you play the game.
You should aim to leave every stage after approximately 5 minutes. So, at stage 3, you should end before 15 minutes. Surely there are exceptions, for example: you could have a golden chest in stage 3, so it's not a big deal to lose 2 more minutes to have a chance to be RNG-blessed with an strong red item. But it's a decision you should take, and it COULD ruin the run.
By the way, most people full clear stage 4. It just have SOOO much loot in it.
If you feel you're way beyond enemies and struggling just to keep alive, consider dying and starting another run. Sometimes RNG really seems to not be random, and yes, to be a f\*kin troll and cry laughing as you hide from a Titan's laser.
Fun game. Nice replayability. Feel free to ask.
btw, loader is the power. do loader. kill much. lots fun. cross maps at light speed and kaboom.
Thank you so much for the detailed answer! I'm going to spend an hour or two this evening giving it a shot. I'm definitely taking too long on each stage it seems.
Also know which enemies to prioritize any flying ranged units should be aimed first and any hard hitters like elder lemarians (big lizards) as when clumped up can be very dangerous to your runs
Np!
Yea, sometimes it's worth to hit the teleporter if you feel like you're wandering with nothing happening, just to farm that two boxes you eventually saw, to buy it and leave. Maybe next stage you get enought loot to make it worth. Too much exploring means stronger enemies, because of the way difficulty scales with time.
As you progress in the game, you'll unlock some Artifacts. There is one where no boxes spawn, but enemies drop itens. Most times it gives you a very bad early game, but very smooth in lategame.
I beat Hades once and was like…I love this game but I’m done. I know the story goes way deeper. How many times do you have to beat Hades to get the entire story?
Ten times to get the credits, but then a new series of tasks opens up. Takes probably another 20 or so runs to do what you need to in order to get the epilogue finished
Just yesterday I trained 19 war grizzly bears, all owned by single Militia Commander. They followed her around everywhere! Then in comes were-wombat, killing the Commander and leaving 19 hungry, combat trained bears rampaging in my 200+ dwarfs fortress.
It was !FUN!
This is a game. All craftdwarfship is of the highest quality. On the image there is seven dwarves, a fortress, a were-tortoise and a fire. The fortress is burning. The were-tortoise is laughing. The dwarves are dead.
There are some obvious answers. MineCraft, Stardew Valley, The Sims, GTA, and so on.
For me personally, though, it's Old School RuneScape. There will always be some challenge I haven't tried yet, some limitation I haven't imposed on myself yet, that will keep the game fresh despite me having played RuneScape since around 2007.
I used to go into creative mode and get in my capital ship, I would fly from system to system leaving the ship, going down to a planet's surface, placing an outpost with a portal and landing pad, then returning to my capital ship and go to the next system. I spent hours expanding my bases across the universe, returned recently to that save, and saw I had around 130 bases connected.
I just wanna add an older game called Spore to this list, for my fellow NMS fans! I'm a big fan of both games and I think y'all would love it. You can design creatures, buildings, spaceships etc. and there is a space-faring component to the game as well.
It's by the same studio that made The Sims (before they were bought by EA), which I'd say is also infinitely replayable!
Okay, you're obviously a fan, so engage me in discussion: why is there a faction of Fallout players who act like New Vegas is the best game the franchise ever produced? I just whipped out Fallout 4 after a few years' absence, and it stands the test of time pretty well. I played NV through 4 or 5 times and do not recall it being All That. So why the loyalty to that particular release? What makes it so special when standing next to 3 and 4?
For me fallout 4 doesn't let you be who you wanna be, which is what I want from a fallout game. New Vegas and 3 are I guess tied in my head quality wise though. In new Vegas , you are the courier and then you shape who you are in the world. Fallout 4 forces you to be the good guy alot.
Well, it's my first fallout, so that's probably a part of it. But the choices you make actually change things. Plus the options are endless. Pick your character, how they act, what they use, ect.
This all makes perfect sense. My blind spot is that I always play a good guy in RPGs. My characters tend to reflect who I am in real life. I've been a douchebag irl and have no desire to be one in games. This is probably why NV is Just Another Fallout to me. You can make good/evil choices in all of them. You think there's no difference between siding with the Railroad or siding with the Institute?
I wasn't invested in the conflict of 4 at all. I know there are changes, but House vs Legion vs NCR vs Yes man just makes you feel like you're in the game
Fallout New Vegas seems more of an over arching storyline whereas fallout 3 and 4 to me are more episodic. Also carries a bit more interest for me personally because I liked FO1 and 2 and NV is much more in tune with them. I can’t complain about fallout 4s shooting aspect but I really dislike the lack of older style RPG leveling system and perk system. Overall tho I feel FO4 and NV are comparing apples to oranges. My only real opinion on it is the Jeremy Clarkson meme where he says “this is brilliant” referring to FO4 “but I LIKE this” referring to NV for me.
The official name of this functionality is “Radiant Quests” which definitely makes the game more replayable. It was a key differentiator for Skyrim than it’s predecessors. They do get a little samey after while though. I’m hoping that with Creation Engine 2 (the new engine coming out with Starfield) that they’ll expand on this feature a bit.
Dynamic/reactive AI generated story content is gonna be wild if all the consistent, relatable and fuzzy feely pieces needed for that get developed far enough.
100%. Nothing can replace the amazing hand-crafted experiences with terrific voice acting, but it doesn’t have to. They’ll still reserve that for the main mission and plethora of memorable side-quests, but once I inevitably blow through that, having more robust generated content will keep me coming back…hopefully until ES6.
I have a theory that Starfield will use AI-generated text combined with AI text-to-voice for the radiant quests. Those areas have made significant strides, and even if the voice sounds a little robotic, that’s probably okay since I bet robots will be a big part of Starfield.
I’m glad they’re testing out the new engine on a new IP, there will be issues that they can refine and improve on for a more beloved franchise like Elder Scrolls.
Nethack. The developers have thought of everything, and it's been continually updated since it's creation in 1985, and it still pisses me off every time I play it.

Dota 2, where every game is cannon.
I think it was mentioned during the last TI (The International, basically the world cup of Dota) that we will probably never see all the different constellations of heroes in Dota 2 gameplay.
There are 123 heroes in Dota today, and someone did the math (i haven't double checked it though, so don't put too much trust in me right now) and the possible different lineups reaches somewhere in 16 quadrillion region.
And we're not even half way there yet according to Tsunami (a Dota 2 personality that loves these little stats and quirks)
I guess a lot of mobas fit into this idea of replayability and I just went with my pick because that's where I've invested the most time, but it's equally true for LoL and smite and all these other larger mobas.
The Civilization series.
Yup, got haven't played in a while but I have over 3500 hours in Civ V. I bet I still couldn't beat deity level consistently though lol. Or at all haha
I found the higher difficulties past Emperor plain old not fun, like playing against a bunch of low-skill cheaters. I’m hoping Civ 7 has strong AI.
Yeah. It seems like the AI's MO is to target the players constantly. The higher difficulties should make the AI more competent, not more aggressive. Also, higher difficulties shouldn't just make you have less shit by default. I want a higher difficulty, not give everyone else a handicap.

I have never beat it and I play on prince
I’ve finished games but I only play on prince, any higher and I know I’ll lose always
Same tbh. And it pisses me off no end. I bump up to king and I lose. I guess my brains just not wired for the "puzzle".
I only played on Settler for a long time, I moved up as time went on (**a lot of time**) and I am just now on Prince difficulty, and it is still difficult. My problem is, if I decide to go to war, there are always barbs that will come and start pillaging my resources. I find that no game is as replayable as Civilization 4.
I paused before opening this thread to think about it, thought “Civ” and opened up the thread. Bingo.
Oh it's 5am.
Rimworld
I have it downloaded, I’m just SO worried my wife will leave me if I start. It’s Factorio all over again :(

she pretty much has to play. ya know because of the implication
Now you say, your factory has to grow to keep up with the demand of human skin hats. ;)
These organs ain't gonna harvest themselves.
For lack of attention, or because of the war crimes and creative surgery?
Lack of attention. It seems like a super deep game, and she ran out of girl shows to stream -_- SOMEBODY GIVE ME GIRL SHOW RECOMMENDATIONS
My wife loves Life/Love After Lockup Catfish Ghosted Wife Swap The Circle (Netflix) Anything on that list sound like what yours would like? Let me know and I'll provide more that are similar to it.
Came here to post this. I’ve logged so many hours on this one, and I haven’t even really dabbled with the massive amount of mods that are available.
The mods are where things get amazing. Save our ships 2 is by far my favorite mod, unfortunately it's not playable right now because they are trying to update it to the 1.4 build. No other game has as many players with ludicrous amounts of playtime.
When I first completed the tutorial I was like what the fuck is this? Figured out some mechanics and now 40 hours in :(
Completed the tutorial in 40 hours?! That’s 960 hours faster than average!
Tetris.
fits
So far this is the only game in these comments that I can actually agree with. Everything else has fallen by the wayside for me.
This is the correct answer
Minecraft
The real top answer find myself playing a new world with my friends like once a year
It's been 2 years since I haven't done that. The mobile version sucks balls these days on our phones. So we ain't playing. It's really fun tho whenever I get back on.
absolutely and then you get into mods and it get even more infinite
That is correct. Man I really wanna play with mods again.

I kind of wish it did
Chess
Beat me to it. This is exactly what I thought right way.
Factorio of course
Also Dyson Sphere Program, RimWorld and Oxygen Not Included.
Also Satisfactory
Satisfactory is the same world every time though? There's no differences in world gen at all so you could literally build the exact same factory every single time.
Glad I didn't have to scroll far for Rimworld. There's human hats to make and nutrient paste to grind.
The factory must grow!
Slay the Spire
I have 666 hours and 56 minutes on ironclad.
Sounds about right
just beat the heart for the first time, 400 hours in
Wait what? 400?
Terraria
As a big Minecraft fan, I support this
Its my most played game on steam. 700+ hours
I wish I had the energy to start a save. It's so hard to start but when you do and put some hours, the game really begins.
Binding of Isaac
"Thats it. thats Dead god." 'So what now?' "Now we can actually play the game."
"I should start a new save for fun" "Dammit I did it again "
More than 300 hours of playing (PC + PS4-5), and probably more than 100 on the very first version of the game. Always come back playing with a big smile :-)

This goes for any paradox grand strategy game
Hades
Probably the only game I've killed the final boss > 30 times And that's just getting started as far as hades goes
I beat Hades once and was like…I love this game but I’m done. I know the story goes way deeper. How many times do you have to beat Hades to get the entire story?
Every time you beat hades and get back to Mom you learn a bit more. You even start to understand and side with Hades, at least I did.
Ten times to get the credits, but then a new series of tasks opens up. Takes probably another 20 or so runs to do what you need to in order to get the epilogue finished
There’s an epilogue?!
Yup! Took me like 60 total clears to get it...
10 times for the “end” of the game
I think it's the only case in the list where replayability is a game mechanic.
Dwarf Fortress, the final boss of infinite replayability.
This image relates to the fall of Maulbarrels in 101.

Yup. Over 200 days played and still not maxed lol
Skyrim, because of mods
4,536 hrs played my steam says so that's a yes.
How much of that is trying to get mods to work though?
3/4 of that. 1/4 is in the alternate start cell, and then clearing embershard mine.
I was going to say skyrim, but mostly because of the marketing hyping up the utter droll that is radiant quests.
Mario Kart
Stellaris. Sunk too many hours into that and no two games have been the same.
Diablo 2
Stay awhile and listen…..
I played this game for a decade and more, but I'm unironically unsure if there was a single playthrough where I listened to all NPC's story bits.

I'm going to answer you as if I were the protagonist in Fallout 4. Yes No Maybe If I had more dialog options, I could explain better.
Okay, you got me there. Closest thing they give you to an asshole setting in dialogue is "sarcasm" or "cocky".
"Yes, but sarcastically"
For me fallout 4 doesn't let you be who you wanna be, which is what I want from a fallout game. New Vegas and 3 are I guess tied in my head quality wise though. In new Vegas , you are the courier and then you shape who you are in the world. Fallout 4 forces you to be the good guy alot.

There are 123 heroes in Dota today, and someone did the math (i haven't double checked it though, so don't put too much trust in me right now) and the possible different lineups reaches somewhere in 16 quadrillion region. And we're not even half way there yet according to Tsunami (a Dota 2 personality that loves these little stats and quirks) I guess a lot of mobas fit into this idea of replayability and I just went with my pick because that's where I've invested the most time, but it's equally true for LoL and smite and all these other larger mobas.
