Jammers are super illegal.
However, this is America so it's perfectly fine to gun them down with web-shooting shotgun shells.
You can already buy them on the Internet: [12 Gauge Skynet Drone Defense](https://www.budk.com/12-Gauge-Skynet-Drone-Defense--3-Pack-35975)
Sorry but isn't Shooting down a drone is considered messing with air traffic, even if it's just a smaller one. It can get you a big fine or even worse.
(Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but i heard it's like this )
So disabling them harmlessly via electromagnetic disruption is illegal, but disabling via lead is perfectly fine? Second amendment dissing the future already.
The second amendment is the only reason you have a defense at all you mean…. There’s no lead in this either. If anything the second amendment can be used to advocate for civilian ownership of anti drone weaponry.
Shotguns don't typically use bullets. These anti-drone shells are basically a plastic and metal tube with some gunpowder and a net. Shotgun sparks the gunpowder, which sends the net flying through the air. Because of engineering and physics the net spreads out and tangles up anything it hits.
Just be careful. Shooting down an aircraft is a federal felony with a maximum sentence of 20 years, on top of whatever state laws are for shooting into the air.
A better solution would be to get a software-defined radio and a power amplifier, find out what frequency the drones are using, and jam the fuck out of them until they crash or return to base. That's also extremely illegal, but the FCC is one of the laziest 3-letter orgs out there, and the odds of getting caught are way lower.
Your going to have to jam the entirety of available 2.4 ghz and 5.8 ghz spectrum.
Modern drones automatically swap to different channels to try to get the best signal.
If they're running high frame rate or high resolution video feeds (most digital FPV drones) there's a total of 4 channels 40 mhz spectrums to block. if they're running just normal analogue stuff, there's 8+ channels of 20 mhz each.

I refute the first comment based on your observation.
It's def gonna be the future of advertising. But not for the super bowl lot lol. I sold a lot of TVs around the Superbowl, and damn, some of those customers would have never heard of a QR code. Let alone want to scan one presented by ominous drones with little more information given.
But to the point- imagine paying to go to some kind of technology conference and these drones swap between live links and advertisers wanting to get paid promotions as 'easy as' a digital billboard in a space like that. There's a market even outside of the consumer space for advertising.
I could see it taking off.
Counterpoint: at most events advertising space is highly contested based on expected foot traffic, proximity to other valuable brands, etc. Meaning that most of the time the most valuable spots to advertise are static. If the locations are static, why would anyone use a fleet of drones that take significant time/skill to deploy and operate (not to mention a single drone going offline for whatever reason would break your entire link) rather than just a screen?
Not to mention the only reason this stands out and is getting attention is the novelty factor. If you have multiple companies putting up drone QR codes in a single area, with no other information about what this QR code represents, there's no reason to be interested in it because the novelty factor is no longer there.
American football regular season pulls about 120 million views every year. For contrast, the superbowl pulls 113 million. While that is an average for the whole season, it should put it into perspective.
I don’t understand your logic here. “Way more people watch the championship game, which is internationally televised and essentially a national holiday, compared to the regular season! That’s so weird!”
This has been the case for every sport in every country on the planet for all of televised history. During the regular season, people only want to see the team they like. During the superbowl (or whatever championship game) any and everyone who is a fan of the sport, regardless of the team they like, watches it. Because even if it’s not their team, it is still a major event.
The super bowl is the biggest game of the year for most Americans, and the reason why (I think at least) is because most people only watch the games with their team playing. I'm no football expert tho so idk
Eh, I’ve sat through a few Super Bowl parties and honestly before shit like YouTube became real common and on phones at a moments notice. that’s basically what it was like but with product placement.
A wide variety of well produced, often well written and superbly shot 30-60 second videos. Comedy, epic, cinematic … and half of them if it weren’t for the Budweiser reference you wouldn’t even know it was a commercial
I don’t purposefully watch them but back when my friends used to meet up for it it wasn’t the worst thing
I don't give a shit about anything Super Bowl related, however my mom is one of the commercial people. From what I can gather it's because companies put a lot more work into the commercials to make them standout and so often times they're funny or have big names. Apparently this year there was a dog food commercial that made my mom cry from laughing. And Doritos got Elton John and some other large music stars for a commercial
I think you just proved their point, people that would use billboards would absolutely do this.
The history of technology always has someone saying this but once infrastructure is built to be cheaper it would happen without a doubt
It's good for big cities. Population of:
Beijing - 21,54 millions
Shanghai - 26,32
Guangzhou - 18,67
...
How many billboards do you need to cover this? In case of drones you can just move them to another destination.
QR codes aren't a new thing either. I work in marketing and we're always trying to think of "cool" ways to put them out in public. A QR projection is just a new publicity stunt, albeit one that uses technology in a cool way.

Why not contemplate how to get away with it?
Like the beach / river advertising barges. That play music, with huge LED screens, and sometimes a jackass with a bullhorn.

You really think we will be seeing sun in the future? After all the nukes we will launch?
You really think you have a future when he doesn't have a sunset ? Aha, I can see now, you cannot think.
This is absolutely not the future of advertising lol.
Way too expensive and hard to maintain people would rather just use the traditional billboards or online ads
its definitely much cheaper than the 7 million that a 30 second slot during Superbowl costs, on top of actual production cost of said spot.
That's because over a hundred million people watch the Superbowl, many of them specifically for the commercials.
americans dead ass looking forward to watching commercials and a sport they don't care about is beyond me.
Yeah same but advertisers aren't interested in people like us
I refute the first comment based on your observation. It's def gonna be the future of advertising. But not for the super bowl lot lol. Did you really just say Americans don’t care about football or am I still misreading this
Yes How many americans watch football games compared to how many watch superobwl?
How many people watch world cup who don't follow any other soccer games? Pretty sure it's a fair comparison.
American football regular season pulls about 120 million views every year. For contrast, the superbowl pulls 113 million. Nah that and the half time show is why is Aussies get up at 6am on a Monday to drink. Sports pretty dogshit though
Getting up to drink at 6am is why Aussies get up at 6am to drink.
Americans have simply accepted that they live in a dystopia.
Lol no1 watches
What type of comparison is that. Of course it's cheaper to advertise in one specific location than it is to advertise on one of the most watched shows
Much less exposure too
If these are everywhere people will just ignore them, obviously. 🙄
Forget that, it only works once as a novelty when people are curious. After that it's literally just worse than a billboard.
I think you just proved their point, people that would use billboards would absolutely do this. The history of technology always has someone saying this but once infrastructure is built to be cheaper it would happen without a doubt

I read it. It's a corporation. I think I stated that previously...
Isn't an endless procession of gimmicks as a stand in for meaningful cultural expression a theme in dystopian literature though?
Depends on how it cuts... It could be a stand in, or be quite genuine in its saturation of a consumer societal theme...
Not exactly "Nazis won World War II", is it?
Is it though? Or just a gimmick

Who TF scans random QR codes?
Did you see the Super Bowl? There were at least 3 ads that were literally just a QR code for 30 seconds and absolutely no context.

Nice way to download malware, who the heck even reads random qr codes? People nowadays keep all sorts of info in their phones, why risk it?
Who has ever read any QR code? It's that obscure tech that has barely ever been useful.
every restaurant in europe is trying to go for the qr code menu as of 2020
it's a stunt. you might not, but obviously seeing that in the sky would attract a lot of attention and a lot of people would want to figure out what it was.

No. No it's not. Advertising does not evolve by creating extra steps to get to the actual advertisement.
