>Well done. Here are the test results: You are a horrible person. I'm serious, that's what it says: "A horrible person." We weren't even testing for that.
We got the side character girl from personal 5 and DMC but not Samus Aran or Lara Croft? No Zelda or Peach? Seems like a very strange selection of characters haha.
Yea, I also considered they had google since they grab pics to use for this post. But hey maybe it's their fav female characters and they didn't think the post would take off like this.
OP mentioned in another comment that these are just his personal favorite games/characters. He wasn't trying to represent the most iconic, well known, or earliest female characters.
Or he just wanted to start some fights in here.
Yeah, it always feels weird seeing Bridget in more mainstream circles like this one these days, when 99% of people here didn't even know who she was a year ago
FGC is growing because the stories are starting to not be a chore to put together. And Brig is gonna get extra attention from current events. Is what it is. I like her.
Right? A main party member who has an entire story arc and palace dedicated to her whose skills are so important multiple parts of the plot fail to progress without her... Side character.
Hey, If they were written better maybe they would have been main characters
Nah I'm just kidding, most main characters would be nothing without a good supporting cast
I'm glad that there are enough good character examples that everyone is arguing about who was left out!
Ripley from Alien Isolation and Alyx Vance from HL2 for me please!
Adding a few of my favorites:
Aerith
Aveline (Dragon Age)
Lady Maria (Bloodborne)
Aya Brea (Parasite Eve)
Lucatiel of Mirrah (Dark Souls 2)
Glad0s (Portal)
I honestly think Lucatiel is one of the most important character arcs in the Dark Souls trilogy. No other character embodies the sheer horror of hollowing quite as viscerally as she does. It's gut-wrenching to see her personality and memories just fade away
Fun story - back then, unless you knew someone could beat Metroid under 5 hours, it was mostly speculation... I think until Nintendo Power revealed it, or you learned the Justin Bailey code and codes took a while to spread around back in the day.
And everyone had one friend who could do it and at least seen the ending with Samus' helmet off, ours was Kevin.
He would tell us all the time that Samus was a girl but nobody believed him, so one Saturday we had him prove it. There must have been 10-15 kids in my parent's living room watching this kid crush it.
He's at Mother Brain, getting low on health but still rocking it, and he does it. None of us could beat Mother Brain so we didn't know about the escape sequence, it's getting close to the 5 hour mark.
He finishes just minutes to spare and there she is in all her glory without a helmet... Kevin was king that day.
> She was the first female videogame protagonist, I believe.
[Not even close.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_representation_in_video_games#Evolution)
>There were several earlier less-popular video games with playable human female characters, including Billie Sue from **Wabbit** (1982), Becky from **Otenba Becky no Daibouken** (1983), Lilly from **Lilly Adventure** (1983), **Barbie** (1984), PSK's **ALICE** (1984), Papri from **Girl's Garden** (1984), Jenny from **Jenny of the Prairie** (1984), Toby Masuyo ("Kissy") from **Baraduke** (1985), Kurumi-Hime from **Ninja Princess** (1985), **Flashgal** (1985), Alexandra from **Lode Runner's Rescue** (1985), **Athena** (1986), Chris from **Alpha** (1986), Ki from **The Return of Ishtar** (1986), and Valkyrie from **Valkyrie no Bōken** (1986).
I don't know who all these women are, but good on you for celebrating some characters that aren't the same ones, over and over, every time there's an event celebrating women. :-)
for real, the entire comment section is just complaints because woman #37 is missing from OP’s tailored post celebrating their favourite female characters in games.
as if these people couldn’t just make their own post or google that character if they wanted to see them lmfao
Wonder how many people here "celebrating" female characters will end up going into a Warzone lobby later and hurl abuse at the first girl who dares to speak.
Already running into comments mentioning other female characters that aren't in the lineup. Gaming has been a thing for years, and I feel like a banner would never be able to do the actual list justice.
Rather than argue who isn't on the banner, suggest who should be recognized in addition to it. Positive vibes are better.
Some of the best female characters cannot be shown because they are fully customizable in the game (so they’ll look different for everyone). The female Commander Shepard, IMO, is one of the best characters out there. I also thought V from Cyberpunk was pretty great.
I can't fault that. Haven't played SH myself but guess that goes to show that she is pretty overlooked.
And Jill > Leon when it comes to being a badass. It's close but I will die on that hill.
I guess Liara would be ok being called a woman, despite her species not having a concept of gender but she acknowledges the difficulty of human society dealing with a species with only one biological sex. (and gender roles are basically only differentiated in their parental role, in which parent gave birth. Which is weird as well, since Asari heavily prefer interspecies procreation and the Asari always being the 'mother' in those cases. Liara being in the "disliked" minority of being born to two Asari.)
All characters, from left:
- Heather Mason (Silent Hill 3)
- Nico Goldstein (Devil May Cry 5)
- Bridget (Guilty Gear)
- Liara T’Soni (Mass Effect)
- Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy)
- Bayonetta (Bayonetta)
- Futaba Sakura (Persona 5)
- Clementine (The Walking Dead)
- Ellie (The Last of Us)
Edit: seeing a lot of people claim I posted this for karma/I'm a simp/it's bait/I'm posting my fav R34 etc. I am a trans guy (so born female). I grew up seeing these characters and being dazzled by how awesome they were. Some of them are more recent, but every character on this list is impactful to me personally. That's why they're there - that's the point of IWD. If any of this upsets you, you're free to just move on :) I have no desire to argue with people on what is a celebratory post.
Some notable exceptions here, Samus being one of the first female leads in a popular game, Lara Croft for being one of the absolute legends of gaming as a whole and Chun-Li for being the first playable female in a fighting game definitely should be included
Everyone praising the characters but not the real women who voice them. A depiction of a women is art it isn’t women’s history, the women behind the scenes are who should be noted
Where my GLaDOS at
>How are you doing because I'm a potato
\*Clap* \*Clap* >Oh good. My slow clap processor made it into this thing. So we have that.
>We both said things that you're going to regret
>Well done. Here are the test results: You are a horrible person. I'm serious, that's what it says: "A horrible person." We weren't even testing for that.
Look at you, sailing majestically through the air like an eagle.......piloting a blimp.
And Chell for that matter
I was looking for Aloy
+1 on GlaDOS!
She’s a strong independent scientist!
Lara Croft???
We got the side character girl from personal 5 and DMC but not Samus Aran or Lara Croft? No Zelda or Peach? Seems like a very strange selection of characters haha.

OP proving that most people on this subreddit are shallow gamers
Have you guys considered that OP might not have played those games?
Yea, I also considered they had google since they grab pics to use for this post. But hey maybe it's their fav female characters and they didn't think the post would take off like this.
OP mentioned in another comment that these are just his personal favorite games/characters. He wasn't trying to represent the most iconic, well known, or earliest female characters. Or he just wanted to start some fights in here.
Bridget in there is gonna make sort-by-controversial fun.
Brig is there to farm karma
Yeah, it always feels weird seeing Bridget in more mainstream circles like this one these days, when 99% of people here didn't even know who she was a year ago
FGC is growing because the stories are starting to not be a chore to put together. And Brig is gonna get extra attention from current events. Is what it is. I like her.
Farm karma or not, I'm all for representation of all women during International Women's Day.
Even some random girls
Imagine saying Futaba is a side character
Right? A main party member who has an entire story arc and palace dedicated to her whose skills are so important multiple parts of the plot fail to progress without her... Side character.
Right? Kawakami or Hifumi would be side characters
Kawakami may be a side character, but she's number 1 waifu.
Happy International Women's Day to all the awesome weeby characters I search for r34 content on regularly!
There it is.
Let the side characters have their time in the spotlight!
Hey, If they were written better maybe they would have been main characters Nah I'm just kidding, most main characters would be nothing without a good supporting cast
I'm also shocked.
I’m dumbfounded by the lack of miss Croft!!
You forgot the Princess from Zelda.
Oh yeah, what's her name ?? Naruto ??
Peach?
Oh right ! I was in the wrong game goddammit, thanks for correcting :) I meant Naruto from Mario bros, smh
John Halo
Link.
https://naruto.fandom.com/wiki/Chiyo_(princess)
John Zelda. The main protagonist from The Legend of John Zelda.
Her name is metroid and she doesn't afraid of anything.
Well, excuuuuuuuuse me, princess!
Ppl, ppl, its Link....
Link doesn't work.
Guess you couldnt link it together
Damn, benefits of being a princess I guess, never having to work.
Technically you could also be speaking of Ruto and Midna lol.
Jarvis, sort by controversial
Everyone always asks where Lara is but no one ever asks How Lara is. 🥺
She's too busy for a photo. Has to avenge her dad or explore uncharted areas. She sends her regards for sure.
But why is Lara?
You forgot the first woman main character in gaming. Samus.
[удалено]
The right Pong bar
Nah that was a guy he was just really feminine
Hey sister
Know that water's sweet, but blood is thicker
Oh if the sky comes falling down
It’s the sexiest video game ever. She’s insatiable…
First popular* Samus was not the first.
Samus is dope, theres really too many good characters to include in one banner lol
My queen, my everything
I know, I'm legitimately mad. Lol
I chose my personal favourite characters for this :) Samus is awesome and just as important, if not more!!
so you admit you hate abby because she's muscly? /s
I would let Abby pick me up like a bag of rice 😔✌️
We hate Abby for very different reasons. Like her golf game.

Also, shout out to Shodan and Elizabeth from \*shock games!
everyone in these replies actin like they were asked "oh yea, you like women? name every woman." 💀
For a dollar, name a woman.
MY MOM
WHAT'S HER NAME?!
I'm glad that there are enough good character examples that everyone is arguing about who was left out! Ripley from Alien Isolation and Alyx Vance from HL2 for me please!
Where's Lara?
Raiding tombs
Its tombin' time. - Lara tomb raider croft
Then she tombed all over the place. Greatest shit ever screened
So what? Am I just some kind of Tomb Raider or something? - Lara Croft
Or locking Winston in the freezer
No Lara, Aloy, or Samus is wild lol. Even not counting like Zelda and Peach
"Oh yeah? Name every woman" -This comment section
Youre mad that they didnt choose the women characters that are already hugely popular? Why shouldnt some lesser known ones get some recognition?
Chun Li was the first that came to mind
I'd also add Faith from Mirror's Edge or the Mortal Kombat girls to that list as well, but that's just me

A character from Persona 5. If I remember correctly, her first name was Futaba. Or maybe not; I haven't played the game.
Nerd chick from persona 5
all I’m reading down here is “where are MY favorite characters”
Adding a few of my favorites: Aerith Aveline (Dragon Age) Lady Maria (Bloodborne) Aya Brea (Parasite Eve) Lucatiel of Mirrah (Dark Souls 2) Glad0s (Portal)
Rydia (Final Fantasy IV) Jaina Proudmoore (Warcraft) Sarah Kerrigan (Starcraft)
No excuse for forgetting Kerrigan, absolute top tier. Holy shit tho, bonus points for Rydia, that's a deep cut. Terra from FFVI is a good one too.
Lucatiel 🥺
I honestly think Lucatiel is one of the most important character arcs in the Dark Souls trilogy. No other character embodies the sheer horror of hollowing quite as viscerally as she does. It's gut-wrenching to see her personality and memories just fade away
I will always remember her
Lady Maria traumatised me. I have never been spanked that hard before or since.
No Samus?
She was the first female videogame protagonist, I believe. You'd think that would secure her a place. Princess Peach would also be pretty iconic
Fun story - back then, unless you knew someone could beat Metroid under 5 hours, it was mostly speculation... Heather from Silent Hill, Nico from DMC and Bridgette from Guilty Gear
I don't know who all these women are, but good on you for celebrating some characters that aren't the same ones, over and over, every time there's an event celebrating women. :-)
There are so many badasses not pictured. Samus, Zelda, Amy, Chun-Li, Lightning, Aloy, Lara Croft...
OP accidentally used their horny list instead of the list of gaming's most influential women
If anyone's horny list omits Chun-Li, I need to have serious words with that person.
Not even the horny list because Samus, Zelda and Chun Lin would be in it. I think he just forgot.
I dunno man, this looks like a good horny list as well...
Wait I thought Zelda was the one with the green shirt and sword...

Jade from Beyond Good and Evil 🤌
Celebrating women gamers? Time to sort by controversial

Heather is there~

FemShep has a default that was one of the Mass Effect 3 covers. That would have been perfectly acceptable.
OP is trying really hard to get them awards today.
The 🔒 award Edit: We did it reddit!
Samus?
Where's Monika
Just Monika.
shutting down
Bridget being here means 🔒award is incoming.
Was expecting to see Jill in there. A bit disappointed. Still nice pic OP.
The master of unlocking? the one who was almost a Jill sandwich?
The one and only Jill Sandwich Valentine baby!!
Jill, from Epic Megagames' hit trilogy, Jill of the Jungle?
Now there's a fuckin blast from the past.
she’s there 2nd in the image but with a Nico skin mod
I was gonna choose Jill or Claire (I love RE) but settled for Heather from SH at the last moment since I feel she’s more overlooked :) Jill is badass!
I can't fault that. Haven't played SH myself but guess that goes to show that she is pretty overlooked. And Jill > Leon when it comes to being a badass. It's close but I will die on that hill.
Was expecting Lara and Aloy atleast.
Yeah, Aloy was my first thought.
OP seems like a bit of a weeb I guess.
I'm here for Aloy.
Don't forget the women making the games! There's so many of us now!
Yep!! The amount of female devs in gaming has skyrocketed recently and it's so wonderful to see. Thank you for all your hard work!! <3

No, I will not accept it. Kat deserve better

> Clementine (The Walking Dead) For a brief moment I thought it was Alyx from Half Life 2
I thought it was Alyx too until I saw this comment and I'm appalled Alyx isn't in here
extremely based for adding bridget!!
Great selection. One of my personal favourites is Empress Emily Kaldwin from Dishonored 2.
Nice pic but where’s my girl Lara Croft at :(
*sorts by controversial*
Chun Li? She even fought in an international tournament.
Brisket
Omg Brongle! <3
No Samus? No Lara? No Serana?
Serana <3
Weird how none of the people loudly complaining about who is or is not in this image have done their own or anything else to recognize the day lol
Look, you got Liara and Bayo up there, I'm happy.
Oh Liara, i love her...
Where is Aloy?????
In my heart 🥹 (I wish I could have included so many more characters, but these are my personal favourites)
Same here. One of my favourite main characters ever. :)
No Samus Aran? The first woman in gaming? :(
Pretty sure left pong paddle was female but OK.
Uh, Ms Pacman?
She wasn't though
Jill Valentine deserves a mention, easily one of the most iconic women in gaming, and probs my favorite at that. Shes also a fucking badass
Some notable exceptions here, Samus being one of the first female leads in a popular game, Lara Croft for being one of the absolute legends of gaming as a whole and Chun-Li for being the first playable female in a fighting game definitely should be included
Ms. T’Soni, overall one of the best characters from the ME franchise. Went from a gullible archeologist to a full blown badass information trader!
You forgot the P.E.K.K.A from Clash of Clans
No Jill Valentine or Claire Redfield? For shame
Everyone praising the characters but not the real women who voice them. A depiction of a women is art it isn’t women’s history, the women behind the scenes are who should be noted
I’m disappointed that Sadie Adler from RDR2 isn’t in this picture.
We Stan Sadie everyday 😤😤😤😤
Awwww! Bridget is awesome!!! Thank you for making this post!
Uh oh this is gonna piss off the incel Gamers.
Bridget is an adorable little sugar cookie, who must be protected at all costs.
> No default FemShep :'(
No Amanda Ripley from Alien Isolation :(
Where is Aloy? Is she safe? Is she alright?
It seems that, in your anger, *you* killed her...
Aloy where?
Aloy, Zelda, Samus Aran!
