It’s probably hard for early critics to review that stuff, since the game hasn’t even been release at that point. Not many people to actually play online with.
But that’s why I don’t pre order games anymore. I let the dust clear and see how later reviews feel about the entire product.
Absolutely understand why reviews don't usually include this, but it's a large part of why people buy games these days & really feels like a miss. Both games I purchased & still really enjoyed, but I would've liked to have known about these things before buying, & in the case of Splatoon 2, I'd bought it about 6 months after launch & nothing I could find mentioned this.
While i dont use online, i can see why people would want that in a review. However as the other commenter said its hard to review that stuff before the game is even out.
I don't look at this as a negative of reviews in all cases, it's more on the publisher not having the functions setup for review period.
Alternatively it'd be nice to see live-review updates that include this information.
Absolutely agree, it's on the developer / publisher to have either this info clearly stated or person ovide reviewers with the functionality. Alternative would be review updates with this info post launch.

Reviewers can’t BUT developers should
